The end of the world is just the beginning of the terror...

Spring, 2024: Two spirit hordes break through from another dimension, and make half the world's population vanish. The spirits possess the survivors, dividing them into two groups: those who fight to retain their humanity, and marauders who destroy everything in their paths.

Artist Livi DeSilva is fleeing from possessed killers when she meets Conor McLain, a man suffering from amnesia. Outnumbered and outgunned, Livi and Conor team up and fight off homicidal lunatics and ruthless gangs, only to end up cornered by their deadliest foe: billionaire Victor van Danz, a psychopath who commands the new world's dark forces. Victor craves immortality, and kidnaps Livi. He believes that when he kills Livi in front of her collection of canvases and absorbs her life energy, he will transform into a god.

With only Conor, two amazing dogs, and a band of plucky children to aid her, Livi must harness the power of the spirits inside her and use it to defeat Victor -- or die in the clutches of a madman.

My Five star review for: A Mighty Rolling Thunder
Written by Kerry Alan Denney
This Horror novel was my first read by Kerry and I’m glad I came to learn of this author’s talent for writing horror with this story mainly because I was surprised by the level of fear I felt while reading. The story starts off with a cataclysmic event that basically leaves some humans unchanged while changing others to a baser level of kill for pleasure without regard for human life. This world for each person changes on many levels leaving the reader surprised, horrified, inspired and genuinely scared because the writer reintroduces us to the many aspects of what we fear and what we believe about our positions in life. I believe writer makes the reader realize how weak civilization is and uses that realization to make the reader imagine fear for how civilization really can be changed for the worse with just a small nudge. The description that helped me envision what I was reading, whether its taste, smell, sound or any other senses is what really helped me enjoy such a scary tale. The character perspective changes are flawless and helped each scene play out smoothly. The characters themselves is what made this story completely new, independent and fresh. I can’t say more about about the characters due to spoilers. The editing was top notch leaving a flowing story from chapter to chapter that built up into a novel worth reading again and again…during the day. Numerous times I was reminded of Dean R.Koontz and his horror filled mysteries while reading A Mighty Rolling Thunder and Koontz has been a mainstay in horror for me lasting over twenty years. I was deeply unsettled, left in a cold sweat and fearful around neighbors and strangers alike…that’s the sign of great horror telling. I look forward to reading more work from Mr. Denney and most especially ‘Jagannath”.

A Mighty Rolling Thunder is an amazing book you should read. This is not the first book I have read that was written by Kerry Alan Denney, and I promise it won't be the last! This author knows how to draw you into her story. This book is written by an expert and it shows. The plot is imaginative and unique and is difficult to put down. It almost has an "The Stand" by Stephen King, kind of feel to it. The pace is perfect giving you lots of action but never rushing you through the story. There are some great twists hidden within and unraveled as you follow the story of the "sparkle people".

Livi is an adorable and strong heroine, perfect for this story. She is supported by many great characters that make a perfect blend in my eyes. Connor is a somewhat unlikely but just as adorable hero completing this duo. There are many more and you should read this book to find out who they are and how well they all contribute to this book.

I loved this book from the very first page and had a tough time putting it down. It was slightly on the longer side for which I am glad since I didn't want it to end.

I have received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)

When the metaphysical takes on a very real aspect, two-thirds of the world’s population is wiped out. Those who remain find either their inner greatness or their darkest impulses brought uppermost, and in the resulting chaos, Livi finds herself facing off against an obsessed businessman possessed by the darkest side of humanity, intent on owning her, her art, and her soul. With her only back-up her snuggle-loving golden retriever, Beauty, Livi is lucky to find allies in the most unlikely places—and a previously unsuspected skill when it comes to defending herself with kitchenware.

A Mighty Rolling Thunder gives a unique look at one of the oldest stories of all through the lens of a masterfully-written fantasy plot. With overtones reminiscent of a zombie apocalypse, good and evil are unleashed, and civilisation begins to totter on its foundations. The characters are recognisable archetypes, familiar enough to draw the reader in, but deftly given their own individual traits and quirks to set them apart and bring them alive in the pages. The pacing is masterful, coloured with foreshadowing and spiked with violence that has real consequences, adding to the suspense without turning into a Quentin Tarantino set. I can truthfully say that author Kerry Alan Denney has created a book here that will keep you turning pages until way past your bedtime – entertaining, thought-provoking, and highly recommended.

A Mighty Rolling Thunder by Kerry Alan Denney starts out so nice…but it quickly turns into a run for her life for Livy…enter Conor, a guy with no memory…

At 17% it hit me…I have had those same thoughts. What would I do? How far would I be willing to go if the shit hit the fan? Lawlessness, fear, hunger, need desire…The Rapture…the people are gone, just vanished.

Could you imagine talking to your dog, yeah, I know you already do, but what if he really understood you…and talked back?

Victor, oh yeah, he’s the villain and he wants to rule the world and would do anything to make it happen. Power, he wants it.

Free will. Do you choose to share joy or sorrow? Hope or despair? Love or damnation?

I enjoy a desolate world with a cast of characters that must band together to survive. Throw in some magic (?), and I am in heaven. Too bad these guys weren’t, but it sure did make for a great story because of it.

Wow, Kerry Alan Denney is the real deal. This is the first book I've read by him and am just blown away by his mastery of storytelling. There are so many levels of "life messages" in this book, so many great one-liners, so much intensity . . . if I could give it more than five stars, I would. I love books that make me think beyond the story, which in this case is a spot-on supernatural thriller. I'm thinking about how we reap what we sow, how we're all a bit of darkness and light, and how at the end of any given day, or at the end of days, it's the side of yourself (good or evil, in a nutshell) that you feed the most which determines your quality of being. Also, I think about our beloved canines, who have more compassion and wisdom than we often give them credit for -- and Denney highlights this idea in a unique way. No spoilers here, but trust me -- this is brilliant stuff. Highly recommend. And kudos to his editor -- the book was spotless.

Set in 2024 a judgment falls on the world many people simply disappear with the survivors split into the good and the evil.
Livi DeSilva is a young artist who paints beautiful pictures that have hidden fae in them. She sees the world through different eyes to a lot of people and when the judgment comes she is saved. Uncertain of her role in the new world Livi packs her car, loads her most precious belonging her dog Beauty and starts driving.
Conor isn’t happy with his life somewhere along the way he has got lost. After the judgment Conor loses everything including his memory but luckily for him his dog T-Rex is still at his side. With no plan, other than to get out of the city Conor finds a car and with T-Rex he starts to drive.
When these two meet will they be able to make a difference when evil finds them?
Livi is a strong woman when she needs to be and it is easy to warm to her. She is caring and prepared to fit for what she believes is right. With Beauty at her side she finds the strength to survive and to build a new life.
Conor is a sad character to begin with and I was touched by his emotional pain throughout the book. I thought the authors use of Conor’s memory loss was fantastic as it allowed the story to move forward. The growth of his character is very well written and added a real depth the plot. T-Rex is a great addition and made me smile several times.
Victor is a true evil in every sense of the word. Obsessed with Livi he will do anything and hurt anyone to have her. He is written in a way that provokes the reader to truly despise him from the beginning.
The plot is well written with likeable characters and although it’s a story of good and evil it has a great depth and makes you feel a myriad of emotions.
I’m so glad that I have read this book and it will be one I’ll remember for a long time.
There are some sensitive situations in this book that may be difficult for some readers and although they are not described in detail they are implied.

A Mighty Rolling Thunder by Kerry Alan Denney
A Mighty Rolling Thunder by Kerry Alan Denney is a frightening paranormal story. It's about the end of the world. I gave it five stars. It is non-stop action and breath-taking intensity.

Protagonist Livi DeSilva is a thirty-three-year old artist on the run for survival. Her golden retriever is named Beauty. She met Conor McLain, an amnesiac. He had a German shepherd named T-Rex. They teamed up in an effort to survive a mutual foe, Victor van Danz, a reprehensible and thoroughly repulsive psychopath.

Brady and Bethany Murdock, were compassionate farmers who owned twenty-six-acres outside Titusville, South Carolina. They had Cisco and Pancho, two seven-year-old yellow Labrador retrievers who kept the hens safe in the eighth-of-an-acre coop.

They survived "The Event" as Beth called it and they also could understand their dogs.

"More than anyone else, he was worried about Beth. She was more than just the air he breathed. She was the blood pumping through his veins, the endless fount of strength and joy that made life much more than just a struggle to survive. He couldn’t imagine a world without her in it."

Conor went to the Renfield-Stafford Boys Home and was horrified. "Staggering, Conor followed the tracks down the hall.

I know this place. I don’t remember it, but I know it.

Bile rose in his throat, and he choked it back. 'Whatever kind of man I was before my archives got dumped in the recycle bin,' he said out loud, just to hear his voice and remember he was alive and only visiting Hell, 'I didn’t do this.'"

I received a complimentary copy from the author. That did not change my opinion for this review.

Mr. Denney has done it again.....written another book I couldn't put down. Its a great mix of different genres: post-apocalyptic, supernatural, horror, paranormal, and urban fantasy. I loved it, my new favorite. I loved Livi, the heroine, because she is such a strong-willed, determined woman. I also loved Conor, the book's male hero. Who wouldn't? But I especially loved the dogs, T-Rex, Beauty, Cisco, and Pancho. So lovable, and such fun canine characters, and funny too. And also furry heroes! I hated the story's villain Victor van Danz.....but I loved him too, because he was so fun to hate! In my opinion, Denneys best villain he's ever written. You just ache to see him die, die, die. This is on my most highly recommended list now! Well done, Mr. Denney.

I bought a paperback copy of this novel at the 2016 Decatur Book Festival, the best book festival I've ever been to. If you want a fun, exciting, nailbiting read, get this book today!

I'm a fan of this author, having read several of his earlier works, including Jagannath, Dreamweavers, and Soulsnatcher. This newest release, a blend of supernatural thriller, post-apocalyptic horror, with elements of romance, suspense and the awesomeness that are dogs, simply does not disappoint. A Mighty Rolling Thunder is an epic read that combines the universal struggles of good versus evil with the fundamental basics of an awesome Southern country breakfast of eggs, bacon, and grits.

An event happens, perhaps a Rapture if that's what you want to call it, and half the population of Earth mysteriously vanishes. What's left are humans who are either imbued with sparkly forces for good, or shadowy forces for evil. Perhaps angels of demons, or as the newly psychic dogs would say, the sparkly people and the shadows-mans. All of this sounds a little over the top, and just a bit cheesetastic, but it's not. It's action packed, quite bloody and suspenseful in places, and an awesome good read. Recommended for speculative fiction readers of all shapes and sizes, and "Kudos" to the author!

I received a copy of this book from the author for review purposes. This is in no way reflected in my opinion of this anthology. I did not receive any form of compensation for my review.

A Mighty Rolling Thunder is a post-apocalyptic tale that will keep you hooked until the very last page. Combining elements of Dean Koontz with William W. Johnstone's Ashes series (One of my favorites for all you post-apocalypse fans out there.) this story of good vs. evil is a fantastic read filled with both heart pounding suspense and moments that had me wiping a tear from my eyes. I loved the main characters, both human and canine. Livi and Conor's journeys to reach safety are fraught with nail biting tension as they encounter some of the worst things humanity has to offer. The ending was completely satisfying and left me wanting more, I'll definitely be checking out more of Kerry Alan Denney's work. A highly recommended 4.5 star read.

A Mighty Rolling Thunder is an intense read, moving me into an entirely new world for a post apocalyptic novel, and is another one knocked out of the park for this amazing, talented author.
Kerry Alan Denney moves you thru each scene, taking you to the edge of your seat, making it impossible to want to put it down. Pages and chapters become irrelevant as time ceases to exist except for the time in the world he's created.

While I can't wait to see what he comes up with next, this one will join the others for definite rereads in the future. I'm recommending it to everyone.

Wow! I read the whole book in one sitting. I just could not put it down. A Mighty Rolling Thunder is a fantastic journey into a new kind of post-apocalyptic world, one you will never see anywhere else. Denney consistently writes the most amazing novels, nothing like you will read from anyone else. He has no typical theme or genre; he makes it his own, and when you read it, he makes it yours as well. Highly recommended for all speculative fiction readers!

Rich imagery and a very different plot made this book nearly impossible to put down. This is not your typical apocalypse or rapture story. is Horror Fairy-tale a genre? If so, this book MIGHT fit there. My favorite part is the dogs... and I'll not be telling you any more, so as not to spoil the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Kerry Alan Denney’s A Mighty Rolling Thunder came to me with high recommendations. I enjoy a good apocalypse novel and was pleasantly surprised when this one was that and so much more. After the Rapture in the year 2024 when half of the world populations is mysteriously removed, Denney fills his apocalypse with supernatural beings that inhabit the remaining human and turn them toward good or evil and the age old war is played out in the microcosm of Livi DaSilva’s world. Livi is one of the good guys, as is her dog, Beauty, and together they join forces with others who have taken in the “good” spirits to fight against the shadow forces at work in those taken by the dark forces.

One of the many things about Denney’s writing that I enjoy is his ability to create a visual scene, it’s a real skill to make a person see the complex visions Denney paints for use and he does it masterfully. There are moments of intense, uncomfortable, vulgarity and then moments of riveting beauty. Denney transitions seamlessly between them.

There is nothing simple about this book and it made me consider larger questions about our responsibility in the world. What is our responsibility to mankind? What is our responsibility to our dogs? Speaking of the dogs, what are they trying to tell us and why aren’t we listening? The dogs have been show stealers in both of the Denney books I have read. I give him five stars because I’ll read it again, and there are very few books I will read again.

*I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review*

When a mysterious event causes half of the world’s population to vanish and others to become violent due to delusions, artist Livi DeSilva goes on the run with her dog Beauty. Suddenly gifted with the ability to communicate with each other, Livi and Beauty meet Connor and his dog T-Rex as well as a group of orphaned children. Then Livi finds herself the target of power-crazed billionaire Victor van Danz who believes that Livi is the key him achieving immortality.

I really enjoyed reading A Mighty Rolling Thunder. It’s a very well-written novel with immensely likeable main characters and supporting cast. I loved how Livi and Connor could communicate with their dogs. I would love to be able to have that ability with my cat! And that they could deepened the already close bond between them. The villain Victor van Danz was chilling to read. The conclusions that he had come to that were feeding his own power trip and ego were clearly the thoughts of a mad man, but he found them completely logical and acted on them without a thought or care for the consequences.

The mystery behind the disappearances of the population was never fully explained but that added to the read as you were left to make up your own minds. I really like reads like that, which allow you to draw your own conclusions.
I definitely recommend this novel as once you pick up A Mighty Rolling Thunder you won’t want to put it down.

I won a copy of this eBook and had not read anything by this author before. From page one I was struck by the quality of the writing. I knew I was going to be carried along by the story, not bogged down in unnecessary purple prose. Mr Denney knows how to draw the reader in with his fluent, intelligent penmanship and he keeps the action going at a cracking pace, page after page. (Wind-in-fur!) It is a thrilling post-apocalyptic novel that keeps you guessing as to the true nature of the good and evil entities behind it all and while other readers have likened it to King’s The Stand, it reminded me more of The Dome.
The innocence, beauty and loyalty of dogs are qualities the author clearly appreciates and understands; these canine attributes are conveyed with sensitivity and skill, making the dogs in the story truly memorable as characters. I also found the female protagonist, Livi, immediately likeable and I was rooting for her throughout the book. The good guys are all believable and worthy, the villain is utterly despicable in a theatrical, Bond-villain kind of way, and the juxtaposition of these archetypes makes for a very satisfying battle between good and evil. This scenario is never hackneyed if it is done well, and A Mighty Rolling Thunder is done very well indeed!

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review from LoP.

Kerry did it again! Had me sucked into story from page 1 and as I read I got totally freaked out. Just thinking about shadow-mans taking over someone and going on a killing spree was scary but having some guy who is insane and has a God complex due to his lack of masculinity and thinking he was absorbing people's powers just freaked me out. I loved the part of being able to communicate with their dogs telepathically, that was pretty awesome. I would love to be able to do that. And when Livi started glowing was super cool. The sparkle angels was fun. Being able to see the good beat the evil first hand would be amazing and frightening at the same time. Her dad was awesome, I love reading about special ops guys coming to the rescue. This book made me think about what the end could be like.

There hasn't been a book yet from Kerry that I didn't like. He's my favorite sci-fly, horror author. I'm always on the lookout for his next book.

Thrilling story!

This story definitely lives up to its title. It is mighty. It's not another post-apocalyptic story. Well, it is, but it is definitely unique and very creative. I've never read any of Denney's work before, but I definitely will look for more of his work! Denney's writing is amazing and the environment pulls the reader right into the middle of the story. The darkness is balanced perfectly, and the sense of terror is unyielding. I really enjoyed the story, and things are not as they seem, which is a great story builder. Evil spirits and humanity are at a war and it will keep you guessing until the end.

GOOD STORY LINE WITH GREAT CHARACTERS.....

I enjoyed this book.

Let's start with what I didn't like: At times the book lagged for me. Not enough to stop reading so it was a small annoyance. At first, it was difficult to understand what was going on but, a bit more into the story cleared things up a lot. Just be patient, you can decide what it means to you. What I just told you was clear as mud but I promise, you will understand, just keep reading...!

What I liked about this book: The characters are constantly developing and changing which makes them seem so more real. I fell in love with ALL of them. This book has a wonderful way of showing that good DOES triumph over evil.

I am happy to recommend this book. In the end, it is a wonderful peek into good and how good triumphs over evil. Happy Reading!

Review of “A Mighty Rolling Thunder” by Kerry Alan Denney.
This being my first time reading Denney, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. I wasn’t disappointed though with what I found within the pages of the book. If you want a short description of “A Mighty Rolling Thunder” I would say that it’s like Stephen King’s “The Stand” if King was more brutal in his writing.
The premise of the two stories are basically the same. An apocalyptic event happens, good guys and bad guys are defined, and a battle between good and evil occurs. They differ, however, when you actually sit down and read the two. They both have their similarities and differences and one of the differences in Denney’s novel is the fact that it’s shorter than King’s novel.
According to Amazon’s Kindle stats, “A Mighty Rolling Thunder” weighs in at 313 pages while “The Stand” sits as the behemoth between the two at 1,348 pages. Being a Stephen King fanatic, if I were forced to pick one to read again it would have to be “A Mighty Rolling Thunder” hands down. The size of the book does not factor into the choice either.
Denney crafts a world similar to our own, but immediately throws that world into disarray when forces both good and evil invade it. Denney is a master when it comes to descriptive writing. The following is an example of such writing: “The universe was trying to regurgitate its cosmic bile, with Earth as its toxic waste dump.”
The characters in the novel are so well written that you’d almost expect them to spring forth from the pages. It’s a good thing that they don’t however, because I would cringe to see Victor van Danz in real life.
The first character the reader is introduced to is Livi DeSilva. Immediately, the reader sympathizes with her because she is suffering from a douchebag of a boyfriend. As the world around her collapses into darkness, she is infused with what Denney calls “twinkle-people” and “sparkle-angels.”
On the other side of the spectrum, readers are introduced to the antagonist of the story Victor van Danz who is infused with “shadow-mans” who are also known as “night-people.” Before the reader meets van Danz, Denney has Livi and the other protagonists encounter several people that are filled with “shadow-mans” and find that those people are insane, murderous, or a combination of the two. The frightening thing about van Danz is that he is in complete control of his newly granted power.
Another character the reader encounters is Conor McLain, a man that’s literally waging a war inside of himself. Infused with both “sparkle-angels” and “shadow-mans” Conor questions what type of person he is. He is a perfect counterweight to Livi’s “good” and Victor’s “bad” natures.
The most interesting and unique aspect of “A Mighty Rolling Thunder” is the relationships between man and man’s best friend. I won’t spoil the surprise in this review so if you want to know all about it, then I suggest you read the book.
As far as what I disliked about the book, I can’t say that I have any complaints. The story was well written, the characters were fleshed out and the reader cared about them as well as disliked them (in terms of the antagonist), and nothing really pulled the reader out of the narrative. The ending was somewhat predictable, but there were times along the way where I thought that my predictions were going to be proved false. There have only been a handful of novels that I would rate a 5 out of 5 stars and “A Mighty Rolling Thunder” is one of them.
If “A Mighty Rolling Thunder” is the measure of Denney’s writing then I will be looking for his past novels as well as his future ones.

'A Mighty Rolling Thunder' completely blew me away with a huge, impacting storyline. Well written and well thought out. The storyline itself is full of suspense, thrilling scenarios and a wide variety of characters. Livi is a great lead. She's beautiful inside and out. Her passion for life, her loved ones and her beliefs are strong. Conor is also an amazing character. He makes snap judgement calls and they actually work out. Brady and Beth are the best. They are the epitome of love and hope. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended.

Denney's second apocalyptic tale is every bit as good as his first one JAGANNATH. The initial chapters are written in a way that makes me jealous I didn't pen them myself.
