I am so disappointed with this one, this series started off great but it seems like every book after is getting more and more disappointing.
We met Murphy Etsam in book 2 and he was an asshole in that book so I didn't expect much from him. This was his book and I just did not like him. I thought he was a whiny coward and Mila (FMC) deserved much more then him. I hate when Authors make their MMC stick their dick in anything that walks while their FMC stays celibate. It's disgusting and I hate it. And unfortunately this had this awful trope or whatever you call it. They broke up and he became this disgusting asshole and womaniser and she read about his exploits in the papers. AND was confronted with all these women calling him. And his justification for that was stupid, I just wasn't convinced of anything that came out of his mouth.
This Seattle Sound series is fantastic and I was thrilled to read an advance copy of Hold You Close. I’m not sure there’s anything better than a second chance romance, and this one made me laugh, made me cry, squeezed my heart, then jammed it in my throat, but best of all left me with that satisfied, happy sigh at the end.
Alexa Padgett has a gift for creating a setting that’s believable and realistic and characters who are complex, damaged, redeemable and so very endearing. I loved everything about Mila and Murphy! Well, not Murphy's revolving door of disposable women (if that bothers you, don’t worry, there are no details), but knowing what drove his behavior made it understandable, even evoking a bit of empathy, and set him up to heal his wounds and become a better man. Mila wasn't without flaws, which only makes it better when two lost souls can find each other again and become better together than they ever were apart.
If you like a book that has a lot of heart and passion, a little humor and heat and one that will keep you on pins and needles right up until the end, you'll love this book! It’s well worth reading!!
This is a story about love, loss and second chances. Murphy and Mila were in love when a crazy stalker broke them apart. The heartbreak they each experienced is still fresh in their minds. Murphy is part of a hot up and coming band that will be making a stop in Seattle. Mila fled her homeland to try and get away from a crazy stalker and start a new life. Mila wants one last chance to see Murphy and hopefully talk to him and tell him a few things about why she did what she did and what she too lost when they broke up a little over a year ago. A strange turn of events changes their lives once again. Can love heal the hurt and can Mila and Murphy have a chance at love again for the second time.
We get Mila and Murphy's story. a second chance at love. he finds out why Mila left him, her stalker. whenever he finds her he Jack's it up a notch. he wants her away from Murphy. So now that he found her again he is not letting her go. he becomes happy again. he apologizes to Hayden and Briar for being so hard on their relationship. he reconnect with his brother. but Jordon her step uncle will not rest until she is his. in all the meds they reconnect and find their happiness.
Wow, I’m so surprised now. I have read this story because of the ARC in exchange for an honest review. At the beginning, I had some issues with the story because I never like it when an author mixes up the categories. So, if I were the author, I would focuse on the romance side and leave the thrill in the past. The story of Murphy, a rockstar who is trying to deal with his broken heart, and Mila, who has been harrassed by his step-uncle who still doesn’t leave her free and making her life a nightmare. The story was a bit confusing at the beginning because I felt as if I jumped just in the middle of the tale. I would love to read it more of the beginning of their love. On the other hand, this story is a beautifully written an emotional journey. I truly loved their reunion and how they have been trying to get back together. I loved Murphy’s behaviour and his final song (Hold you close <3) for Mila. But I couldn’t understand the loss of their baby. Why did this story deal with this issue if everything at the end will be all right with a happy end?! I recommend this story to everybody who wants to read a second chance love story of a rockstar and a weak soon-to-be doctor and those who enjoy romance with the mixture of drama.
Hold You Close is a high tension, suspenseful romance, with a terrified Mila and an angry rock star, Murphy. As danger closes in on Mila, Murphy finds that he can no longer hold onto his bitter anger, but has to move to protect Mila from the dread she has been living under. Stalkers by nature are mentally unbalanced and in this situation he has gone from being predatory to downright insane. As Mila’s story unfolds, Murphy finds his heart softening towards her and he can no longer turn his back on the girl who had left him without an explanation. They both start to experience healing from the trauma of their past, but there is doubt as to whether they will ever get their second chance. Hold You Close kept me at the edge of my seat, anxiously biting my nails as the stalker evades capture and draws closer. The attraction between Mila and Murphy has never diminished, despite the hurt they both carry, and it is this attraction that gives them the motivation to fight for their love. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review
I was really impressed with this book and how well the characters were developed. It's the third book in the series, but it's the first I've read from this author. It read well as a standalone, and was very entertaining. The relationship between Morgan and Mila is very strained, and you can really feel the hurt between them. The added strain of her stalker makes for a very interesting read. I received an ARC of this book, that I voluntarily reviewed. It comes out soon and it's a great read!!
I really enjoyed this book! To get the story from both the male lead character and the woman lead character. What a treat. I didn't even get confused. Our main characters had a history one that was hard to deal with! There was pain, joy, heartache and lots of tears. I will reread this one again in case I missed some valiant points. What a great read to get you into the mood for the forgiveness that goes hand and hand.
Oh My Goodness!! The trials and triumphs that Murphy & Mila go through. Broke my heart, made me cry several times, ultimately in happiness. Mila's experience with Jordan is scary and awful, but happens far too often! I'm so impressed at how amazingly this author handles very sensitive subjects. I'm so in love with this author!!!!
I received a Arc copy from author for a honest review. I liked the book kept my interest and on edge of my seat. Lots of action, had to wonder how it would turn out. I liked that that I didn't know what was going to happen. I would recommend this book for others.
This is book five in The Seattle Sound Series and it is Mila and Murphy's story and omg it is definitely a must read but have the tissues ready because you are definitely going to need them. Mila and Murphy had been so in love and looking forward to a future together and then everything went wrong. Mila has gone through so much at the hands of her stalker Jordan Jones who not only made her loose her baby and nearly her life and now she is so scarred and broken because she had to walk away from the only man that she ever loved to protect him and his family as Jordan threatened to kill them all of she went any where near them and she couldn't even rely on her mother who betrayed her time and time again so her only friend was Noelle who did so much for her and Mila will forever be grateful to her but the only thing hanging over Mila is her need to see Murphy for the last time before she gets on with her life as one of Seattle's top OB/GYN's. Murphy is in the band Jackaroo after writing a song that Sent viral and now they are touring but he is a total ladies man since the disappearance of Mila who left him bitter, angry and he was always arguing with everyone and he definitely wouldn't be doing any kind of relationship in the future after having his heart broken and he had become so cynical and that suited him just fine. When Mila and Murphy see each other again it is when her stalker has found her and Murphy was not only going to protect her but get the answers that he needs to understand what went wrong but Mila's walls are now so high that he hopes that he can convince her to take a chance on them being together again and having a happy ending but it will not be easy as Mila is so scarred and not the person that she used to be so he will have to be patient which is not his strong suit. Mila and Murphy have such intense chemistry between them but will it be enough for them. this book took you in right from the start and it kept you on the edge of your seat right until the last page wondering what else would happen and it was so addictive that I couldn't put it down. Omg I absolutely cried so much while reading this story as it was so sad and intense and I can't wait to read more books in this series. Alexa Padgett is an amazing author and writer and the depth of her stories just blows you away and she certainly knows how to keep your attention throughout.
Hold You Close, Book Three of the Seattle Sound Series by Alexa Padgett
Murphy Etsam is the lead singer for the Australian band, Jackaroo. He drinks too much and sleeps with different women on every stop of the tour, but he does all this to cover a broken heart. You see, fourteen months ago the love of his life decided to leave him for another man. Or so he thought.
Mila Traske has had a rough life. Following her mother from one man to the next, never knowing if they would have a roof over their heads and food in their bellies. She has a tough exterior, but it hides the heart of a woman who is tired of running.
Ten years ago, Mila’s mother took in a man named Jordan Jones, who took an extreme liking to Mila. He gave her the creeps and kept coming onto her. Mila ran and met a man that would love her more than that she thought possible, Murphy. When Jordan comes back into her life years later and starts to threaten those she loves, she does what she thinks will save them and herself. She runs.
Okay…We met Murphy in Book two, Between Breaths, and I must admit that I hated him in that book. I was wondering how he would become likeable. Of course, he redeems himself and more. You get his background and why he became, well let’s face it, an ass. Mila was the love of his life, but she felt that in order to protect him, she had to leave. Mila is angry with him for not fighting for her after she leaves, and Murphy is angry with her for not trusting him to protect her. You know, your usual problems. Just like the Alexa Padgett’s books, Hold You Close, has a great deal of emotion and well thought out characters.
I am reading my way through this fantastic Seattle Sound series and enjoying it so so much. Every story is so different but they all have a common thread around the superstar Australian band Jackaroo.
This book is Mila and Murphy's story. They meet and fall in love in Austalia, and just as Murphy is about to propose Mila disappears. Unknown to Murphy Mila has a stalker who will stop at nothing to get her, even causing her to lose their unborn child. Mila moves to Seattle and builds herself a new life. Murphy, furious and devastated by her betrayal writes a song for his band that launches them into the stratosphere.
Fate brings them back together when Murphy's band play in Seattle. Mila goes to the bar where they are playing to hear Murphy's hateful song hoping that it will bring her the closure that she needs. What she doesn't expect it to be attacked by her who has followed her to Seattle. Murphy is shocked when he sees this happen to Mila but before he can do anything she disappears. With the help of his Mum Murphy finds out that what really happened to Mila and the reason why she left. Now he desperately needs to find her and ask her forgiveness for the song, and protect her from her attacker.
A lot of water has passed under the bridge for both of them while they have been apart, and there is much to forgive. While they are trying to repair their relationship the stalker is getting more dangerous and determined which makes for a fast paced story that is both thrilling and scary in parts. It is so realistic that you may have you looking over your shoulder!
This really was a roller coaster ride, well written with great characters and sexy love scenes, what more can you ask for?
Murphy Ets is one of the hottest rock stars on the planet thanks to the song he wrote after the woman he loved dropped him for another man. He had poured all of his anger, hurt, and misery into that song. The more he played it, the more it solidified that women were just good for good times. Until she shows up at his last show. Seeing Mila in the audience stuns Murphy, but not as much as the man attacking her! Had he misunderstood when she left him? Had it been a horrible misunderstanding? With Mila on the run from a crazed stalker he will use every resource his fame and fortune have brought to keep her safe. But will it be enough? This is an edge of your seat story. These are gripping characters with a story that will rip your heart up, then put all the pieces back together. I received an free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Alexa Padgett’s Seattle Sound Series has been an astounding emotional roller coaster of a series and now, in Hold You Close(Book 3) we once more hot s traumatic peak before coming down for the most satisfying of landings. This “Bad Boy Rockstar Romance” is indeed that, and fans of that genre will love it, but Mila and Murphy’s story is so much more. This is powerful stuff and thoroughly satisfying on so many different levels. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
I was happy to open this one up because so far this series has been a good read. This one is also a second chance which is a plus in reading for me. The challenges make for more intrigue to see which way it will hang. Milla and Murphey will whisk you away right from the beginning on this one. It will pull out a variety of emotions which is another plus for a novel. Oh and that stalker business adds the spice to this one that keeps us on edge them too. Shake this all together and we are given a superb read once again.
I voluntarily review an ARC. This is the third book of the Seattle Sound series, the books are standalones, but if you want to read them all, start better with the first one. I really enjoyed this story of second chances, deep love, obsession, trust, drama and lust. I got a good connection to the protagonists, but didn't like that everyone thought the other part is more responsible for the misunderstandings.
I have no words that can justify this the right way. This was one of the best books I have read to date. Just perfect. Everything I need in a book and more. Just finished this and feel like I have had it easy compared to the main character. She went through hell and came back from it. Strong person. I will be rereading the whole series.
Wow... sometimes when I'm reading a book in a series I always compare to the first book, which is usually the best. But Alexa Padgett wows me with Hold You Close. What a page turner- brilliant story from start to finish and I love seeing characters from the first two books turn up in this third book. And I loved how Murphy showed his true colours in this one. Well worth a read
Can Mila and Murphy have a second chance after how things ended one year ago? But when Jordan, the man that destroyed their relationship and almost killed Mila is back in Seattle trying to destroy Mila again, they need to find a way to stop him helping each other. A rollercoaster of emotions and action
This book is about Murphy and Mila, the one who got away from him. It was great to see Murphy redeem himself after the fiasco of book 2. I did enjoy the backstory that drove Mila away and the suspense element of things. However, I found their current relationship to be a bit lacking for me. I just didn't see as much connection of growth since they parted ways.
Mila Trask’s is hiding in Seattle from her stalker step-uncle. He forced her to break up with her rocker lover Murphy Etsam (Jackaroo). Now Jackaroo will be performing in Seattle and her stalker has arrived from Australia. Will Mila and Murphy get back together?
Mila Trask wants nothing more than to live her life as peacefully as possible. She detests the fact that she's had to run away from the one thing that meant the most to her. It hurts her even more to know she lost a part of herself along the way. Deep inside, she knows she can't change the past. She can't change the fact that her stalker refuses to let her go either. Unwilling to continue running and remain a victim, she soon dives head-first into the circumstances that have brought her to where she is now, never once imagining where the road will take her in the long run.
Another great addition to the Seattle Sound series, we find ourselves immersed in the pain and heartache that hides deep inside Mila. She's had to contend with so much, never once imagining that she'd lose so much in the process. Alexa has done a beautiful job of showing us exactly what hides inside Mila's heart. We feel everything she feels, wanting so much to rid her of that pain. Sadly, we can't do that, but we do get to see her grow stronger along the way.
I love the fact that she and Murphy come face to face. These are two souls who are destined to be together. Mind you, they come from two different sets of train tracks. The two of them refuse to bend to the world around. Yes, they both have secrets, but they're willing to work things out between them—to some extent—in order to make sense of what they can't understand.
If you haven't read this series yet, you should. It's that good, trust me. I just realized there's more to it than these three books. So can't wait to catch up on what I've missed. Thanks for such great reads, Alexa!
