Willow Bay's Summer Festival was supposed to mean fun... not murder!
The annual summer festival has come to Willow Bay, and for Angela, that means being in charge of the petting zoo. She thought the worst she was going to have to deal with was overly energetic piglets and some argumentative goats, but all that changed when a woman appeared dead in the pig pen on just the second morning of the festival.
Unfortunately for Angela, Sophie and Charlotte, the victim worked for a law firm, and they quickly find that getting information out of lawyers is a lot more difficult than they expected. And on top of everything else, Angela discovers that Matt Smith is trying to buy the property her vet clinic sits on.
Angela’s on a mission to stop Matt Smith from turning Willow Bay into a modern monstrosity, as well as finding the murderer. But when Angela finds herself in the murderer’s crosshairs, she realizes she needs to find the guilty party before she becomes the next victim…
Lipstick on a Pig is the fourth book in the Willow Bay Witches series of paranormal cozy mysteries. It's a full-length novel full of funny and sarcastic best friends, a touch of magic, a snarky talking cat and a little bit of romance.
Samantha Silver lives in British Columbia, Canada, along with her husband and seventeen-year-old dog named Terra.
When she's not writing cozy mysteries, Samantha loves travelling (she's most recently been to Egypt, Jordan and Florida) skiing, eating Dairy Queen, and complaining about how hard running is.
This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. I am veterinarian in a small coastal town in Oregon. She owns her own little animal hospital. She happens to be a witch also. Her sister is also a witch and she comes from a long line of which is in her family. Her unique ability as which is the ability to speak to animals. So that comes in handy as a veterinarian. Along with her sister and her best friend they live together in her parents house. Her parents passed away in a car wreck when they were very young and a friend of the family took them in and raise them. Her best friends mother is also a witch and her best friend has week which he abilities but not much. She can talk to you her dog and at this point that’s about it. So long as her and her sister and her best friend stumble across mysteries murders and other crimes and help solve them. Entertaining and fun read. Check it out
Another great story - although the title is a bit misleading. Being in charge of the petting zoo should have been fun. If one of the visitor's hadn't lost her temper causing Bee to take her own brand of revenge on the woman. When her body is found dead in the pig enclosure the next day, the girls start investigating. Infidelity, obsession, magic and a serial killer are all mixed together to give a great read. Okay I did suspect the culprit but had no firm foundation why. The characters are really evolving and getting to be more human with every book.
Once again, Angela rushes into danger, convinced she has the answer to the mystery, when she has no clue. I thought with the last book she might be more apt to solve the mystery, rather than rushing around blindly, but nope. She was completely blindsided by the killer. Hell, I'd figured it out when she went into the law office, and we met the secretary.
Along with the poor editing, this series is just frustrating. It could be so good. I like the premise, but...
Willow Bay is having their festival and Angela and Sophie are in charge of the petting zoo. A local farmer let's them have whatever young animal he has to use in their petting zoo. A young woman brought her niece down from Portland and threw a fit demanding her money back since there was know baby calf included. The same woman is found dead the next morning inside the petting zoo's tent. Angela and Sophie are out to find the murderer .
The sisters, their pets and friends get involved in another murder mystery that they have thrown in their laps. This one goes back a ways. As always, I love the twists and turns. Of course, hindsight is 20/20!
Tired of people who don't know how to professionally conduct a lawfully investigation and get themselves in danger. Why can't we see her involved with animals and being a witch. Also I-5 runs through the center of Oregon and also California not near the ocean.
These are easy nice books to read . They are coming into their own now as there is spells, talking cat and dog, romance and a will she beat the big bad investment man
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
She closed her vet business for eleven days?! Really? And they shut down the petting zoo too, so she just leaves the vet clinic closed? Right. And she doesn't get emergency calls either? Please, your first two books were great, but suddenly you've abandoned making these believable. This author wrote two awesome cozies, but this one like number three just doesn't measure up to the first two.
Angela and her crew are at it again, solving murders and getting into trouble! These are always entertaining and a good read to relax with. I love the relationships between the girls and their home town friends. There was a tad bit of romance but not much.
This series just keeps getting better. I love how Silver is slowly building the relationships of both sets of lovers, and the creative way she is making all the characters come into living color. This book is phenomenal.
Lots of funny wisecracking between the sisters. I liked the conversations between Angela and the farm animals. The mystery was a standard for love unrequited.
