Winchester, Ohio -- Elli Gray wants a family to call her own. Her life at the orphanage is coming to an end. The pastor and his wife have a solution. Elli agrees to travel to Trace Hollow as a mail-order bride to a man they have picked. Elli dreams of being a good wife but will her temper get in the way of that? Trace Hollow, Montana - Sheriff Logan James wants a wife but he’s too busy to find one. His pastor’s wife has connections in Ohio and chooses a bride for him. Logan is looking for an agreeable woman who can bring order into his chaotic life. Throw in a few bank robbers, an election for mayor, and a sheriff-stalking goose named Herbie and Trace Hollow will never be the same.
I loved this sweet Mail Order Bride story. Two pastors, brothers, one in Ohio and one in Montana, with the help of their wives set girls up with eligible grooms as they age out of the orphanage "At least the groom comes with recommendations" as one lady said to the would-be bride. Elli does a good job of keeping her temper under control but there are some misunderstandings while she getting to know her new husband who is also the town's sheriff. The women of Trace Hollow are most definitely in charge of everything, whether men know it or not! It was such a fun book to read. There are some suspenseful moments with bank robbers in town and someone is shot. I do hope the author will continue bringing brides to Trace Hollow!
I loved this book. The town of Trace Hollow is a place anyone body would want to live. Ellison is the first arranged marriage for the town and her story is funny and endearing I am looking forward to the next book in the series
Who would have guessed a goose would complete a story? We follow Ellie to Trace Hollow where's she's going to marry Sheriff Logan. We find a world of adventure with independent woman and a goose who loves the sheriff. This a great book.
Just a cute story, nothing deep or life changing. A good tale for bedtime or to de-stress after a busy day. The editor needs to know that you don't bake sweet pickles!
What a sweet story. This was my 2nd time reading the book and I loved it just as much. There were so many values in this book that people used to have. What a wonderful read.
I could have gotten past the silly plot because who doesn’t love a sweet mail-order bride romance, but sadly this book was fraught with amateur writing and too many typos to enjoy…even the chapter numbers were messed up.
Great story, a true depiction of life in a western town especially of Montana who was the first state to allow women
to vote. This story showed that faith has always been part of the american way. I truly recommend this book for not only romance readers but young gurls too
This is my first story I have read by CJ Samuels. I loved this story and was pulled in from the very beginning and couldn't put it down until I finished it. Good thing it wasn't a full length novel. Elli is an orphan in Ohio who can be a bit hot headed and always seems to get into trouble when her brothers and sisters, non biological but by living together, have been bullied by others in the town they are in. She is one of four orphan girls getting old enough to leave the orphanage when they turn 18. Elli is turning 18 pretty soon and needs to know what she can do once she no longer allowed to live in the orphanage. The Pastor and his wife have an idea along with the pastors brother and his wife who live in Trace Hollow, MT. This town needs eligible woman to come and marry the many bachelors that are there with no other ways of finding wives. Elli agrees to Trace Hollow after she finds out all four of her "sisters" she is close in age to are also going to be going there to wed. She arrives in town and there is a group to meet her but the last is her groom, the sheriff since he was out checking on a family. She sees him and can't believe this handsome man is the one who she is going to wed. Of course there is a trouble maker in town, Herbie a really sly fellow who the towns people avoid. Herbie adds to the fun and excitement in this growing town and you will laugh out loud, be surprised to the women in town when they stage a uprising all because of an election. There is a lot going on, very fun and not so fun people in this town that Elli is so happy to be there and can't wait until her "sisters" join her there. I loved CJ Samuels writing and now will continue reading this series and check out other books of hers. Any author that can draw you right in and keep you reading without wanting to stop is a good author in my book. This is the first story in this series of hers and I highly recommend it as a good, clean, Christian, historical western story. What is not to like about that and you will love Logan the sheriff and Elli his bride and all the characters in this town
I love mail order bride stories. Elli who was raised in an orphanage was soon to be 18, and would need to leave the orphanage. The Pastor and his wife was in contact with the Pastor in Trace Hollow there were a lot of single men and the Pastor's wives decided to play matchmakers.
What a wonderful story. Well written. A little bit funny a little bit drama and a whole lot of love. The residents of Trace Hallow doesn't have a dull moment. As a reader this story has everything you need to be satisfied when you turn the final page. Can't wait for the next one.
First books in a series is always the most important to capture the attention of a reader to continue reading the series and this book most definitely did that. The story was amazing and very capturing from the start! You definitely don't want to miss out on this series!!
This Was The Most Wonderful Story. I Just Can Not Understand Why There Was Not A True Ending. It Just Dropped Off To Nothing Of The The People Who Made This Story So Good. Very Disappointed. I Can Not See Myself Ready This Author in the Future Shirley Ketcham
This was a cute, light-heartwarming mail order bride romance. The story of Elli was fun to read about, her Roma with Logan quick bit predictable, but the secondary characters made the story. This was a fun, light read.
this is a good read. Elli is aging out of the orphanage that she is in and is offered a chance to be a mail order. She agrees. It's a good read. I recommend it to anyone.
