Dating and mating are the irrational pursuits of mortal races while the rare vrykoly species watches dispassionately from afar. But after his captain and first officer find love with the extraordinary females of Earth, this vrykoly is forced to wonder if he was—dare he say it?—wrong. Piloting the deathly cold and vast distances of space is why he was meant to exist, all he’s ever known, and even his dreams have always been black and still. Can anyone ever love a soul-sucking space vampire?

They're looking for love in all the wrong galaxies...

I grew up reading SFF, buying the biggest books I could with my chore money. While I loved the action, adventure, and exciting worlds, most of those stories were missing…kissing! Now I read and write paranormal romance and science fiction romance which I think mix the best of all worlds. I also write urban fantasy romance as Jessa Slade and sexy contemporary romance as Jenna Dales.

I spend most of my time at my computer thinking about stories, in my garden thinking about stories, or walking my dog thinking about stories. Hmm, I think there’s a theme… 🙂

Dark Matter: Big Sky Alien Mail Order Brides # by Elsa jade 4.5 Stars

Space travel here we come, woot woot, lol. Crash landing and wormholes to boot.

Who would of thought after Delaney's mix up with the Intergalactic Dating Agency she would still want to travel in space or try to find a match to her IDA's information. She sure didn't.

The vrykoly ( ghost vampire in Delaney's words) Ivan, pilot of the Sinner's Prayer, has been given the order to keep Delaney safe. Sin still thinks Blackworm will try to cause them some harm. Little does Sin know that what happens next is something short of a miracle. You see Ivan's kind can not feel emotions like us, he is more or less made up of energy, it's hard to explain. And boy does Ivan get more than a shock when he take Delaney to space to try and ease her sadness.
Anyway things get heated when they crash land after their pod ship was attacked at the wormholes exit. Now is when things get sorta crazy good.

Really cool read, you have humor, sadness, exciteness and a whole lot more.

4.75⭐️ This third book was my fav in this series so far. I got lot of feels from the slow burn of Ivan and Delaney ❤️ Delaney lost her husband two years ago and is struggling to let herself live again. And although she signed up for the Intergalactic Brides to be a mail order bride, her former sister in law ended up fated mated with her match. Even her other best friend got an alien mate although she was the only one who signed up. Now she decides to go on a mini space exploration trip with Ivan, the pilot of the ship that came with the other two MMCs. Ivan is a “space ghost vampire” although he feeds on soul energy rather than blood. He has never had any meaningful connections to others and was raised to believe it would not even be possible for him.

So this book is a slow burn strangers to friends who start developing feelings while trying to survive on a hostile alien moon. I liked that there was no instalust solution to their former traumas. It felt perfectly angsty and I loved it.

Plus the author has a fantastic storytelling vibe!

"The manual suggested that some Earther brides are pleasured by…” He swallowed. “Would you be pleasured by my mouth on your exciton?”

“My…what?” She blinked. The translator in her brain was giving her no clue, nothing.

He frowned. “An exciton is an elementary excitation of matter that transports energy, a binding between an electron and an electron hole. The manual said one epithet for the female pleasure zone is exciton.”

This morphological template is fairly common in the universe,” he agreed. “With the extraneous exception of its musical abilities, my perigee is well within normal functional parameters of IDA-approved male anatomy.”

Her rhythmic caress slowed. “Your…perigee?”

“The point of orbit where two centers are at their closest.” He dropped his voice so the resonance deep in his chest would reverberate to his extremities. Including the aching flesh in her hand. “And I too am relieved to find it harmonious with yours.”

And that sums up the MMC for this book- a star trek Data clone sesquipedalian (user of big words) whose every line of dialogue has to be mulled over for the simple meaning. And I literally say this as a member of mensa. Reading his thoughts made my head hurt. Let's just say elsa jade knows how to take an amazing premise and turn it into complete unreadable crap. This book's "please shut up about it!!!" Was the vyko-whatever way and the matrix. Every second sentence was vyko this and matrix that. A bland, fatalistic society who just lives to die, apparently. Ivan read like a robot, and not a sexy cyborg either.

A space vampire, guys. Yessssss. Space vampires might be my new thing. Along with metal lords and what-have-you. Seriously, though, don't mind me, I read these books out of order and, BOY, was I loving Ivan.

So. For a guy who's SUPER in sync with the universe around him, Ivan's kind of out of step with other beings. He's an awesome navigator (wouldn't you be in the stars around you wrote themselves on your skin?), but he lives a sort of joyless, emotionless, something-else-less existence. Whatevs, right? He gets to chart paths through the stars and that's enough.

Or is it?

Delaney throws him all out of whack. She calls to him to the way the universe calls and he kinda like having feelings when it comes to her.

As for Delaney, she's thrilled for her friends' good fortune, but she's feeling the sting of being the only one who's going to be left behind. When she's offered an opportunity to step outside her comfort zone and travel the galaxy, she ends up taking it. AND IVAN DOESN'T DISAPPOINT. I guess the journey's okay, too. I guess.

Anyway. I've loved all the books in this series in different ways and Ivan and Delaney's story hit the spot in a BIG way. *thumbs up* all around.

I so soooo badly wanted this book to be my favorite in the series. It wasn't... =( I've read so many alien romance books and other genres that I've just got expectations and a lot of these series are flat overall. There was no really vampire angle even though the first two books led him up to be some version of an alien vampire. When it came down to it he was more like an incubus, so quit calling and using the vampire angle! The sex scenes were flat and the time on planet became mundane. I had to end up skimming over a lot just to see what happened at the end. And that was disappointing also because no one really commented on them together. And there was no display of them together as a couple in front of the crew.

this one was really good if not a bit darker.. hence the name. I knew Delaney was going to fall for Ivan but I totally thought he would be more of the agressor.. but after learning more about his kind it's understandable that he would need a lady to lead the way, at least at first. I really want to know what happened to the black hole brides and I kinda want to know if any more of Sin's crew find mates. guess we'll just have to wait and see!

To find our true path, we must let go of the past

A hot, broody space vampire meets his match in this wounded earther girl. Is it possible that these two are exactly what they each need? Grab a copy of the book and read as these two survive an unexpected adventure, steam up the cockpit and connect in a love that will get you all the way through their HEA and beyond.

Space ghost vampire. Socially somewhat inept. Virginal. Eats starlight. Or souls.
There is a plot. There is an adventure and legit danger and nobody is TSTL. There is a romance, somewhat slow-burn, for the above reasons. Obviously.
Aw come on, isn't that enough???
Go get the book and read and have fun!
Reading two previous books in the series would help but is not obligatory.

Book 3 of 4. Delaney and Ivan. He takes her with him to explore Sin's new solar system. They encounter a trap at the end of the last wormhole. They get thru it, but end up stranded on a moon and have to warn their friends while not getting caught by Blackworm. And while their at it Del and Ivan get together.

Liked this installment better than the last one - less overly wrought language and I connected with the hero and heroine a little bit more.

Will probably save the next trilogy for my next foray into Kindle Unlimited.

Just what they needed.

It was kind of a sweet story. Ivan and Del seemed like they were just what they needed. I kind of like the energy space vampire kind of thing with the widowed Fisher woman. I just wished I had learned more about who this bad guy Blackworm.

Very worth reading…

Del was the first of the roommates to sign up for an Alien groom. After her late husband’s sister matched up with Del’s intended, I’m happy to read a story dealing with her chances. Good job and nice usage of Del’s skills. Very enjoyable.

One of the sweeter ones I have read in a while - the sex scenes are sexy sweet, and focus on the lovely connection between the partners. A very good read.

Delaney started it all when she signed up for The Intergalctic Dating Agency problem is her 2 BFF got their aliens lock & barrell and she is left empty like before it all started.

Del never thought she'd get a second chance at love after the death of her husband Will and it couldn't be truer as she says goodbye to her BFF's. When Ivan the navigator and a Vrykoly (Space Vampire) suggest she go with him on a recognizance mission into space, she figures why not. What can happen to her with the unfeeling staunch Ivan. Something about him scared the crap out of her from the first day she lay eye on him, but yet there is something... What she experiences at the hands of the Space Vampire is more than she ever expected from a blood sucking vampire, or maybe it's not blood he craves.

Ivan never thought his kind could experience what he is now, it is so soul consuming and perfect. Maybe that's why they never did, knowing that it would override all their navigational abilities. Who wouldn't want to navigate these stars instead of space?

What a different heartwarming story!

This was quite interesting, the way Ms. Elsa has written about the feelings, the emotions but than no emotions. It all comes together with these two characters, yes it really is a remarkably read, in fact I really couldn't put it down. I definitely recommend this must read book, hey its a Must Read Series.
Delaney Nazario aka: Del is a widow who is so depressed she doesn't know if she's coming or going but she is trying to live. It's hard when you have to be alone but everybody she knows is with someone and Del knows her someone is gone. So why not apply at The Intergalactic Dating Agency, there was nothing left for her on Earth, so why not go to space with an Alien. There is nothing to lose she already lost everything.
Ivan is a Vrykoly which on Earth is vampire, ordered by Sin to guard and protect one of his mates friend. Which was not a hardship since as soon as he saw her, he wanted to be with her, he wasn't even sure about this feeling, that was the problem. His people do not feel any kind of emotion, they don't love, they don't feel anything. Or do they? Is Ivan an exception to the rule?
A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Delaney is the first of the 3 girls to sign up to the intergalactic dating agency while the others didn't even know about about the intergalactic dating agency. Her sister in law Zoe and her best friend Trisha found their own intergalactic mate first. She was going to find herself all alone until Ivan the navigator of the Sinner's prayer invited her to come with him to see the new galaxy her will be living at. He is a Vrykoly or sort of a earth vampire. He is reserved and calm a huge difference from her dead husband and still her body is waking up with him around.
But their trip soon turns into surviving and growing closer together.
Love the action on this one. It has great characters great character development and their so fun! Amazing action, mystery and spice what more could you want!
It's SyFy-tastic syfy fans don't miss it

This a lovely story about a woman who is seeking more than an existence and an alien who is only existing till he is taken by the stars he lives in. These two individuals come together in a great adventure that shows both that love can pull together two lonely people and blaze stronger than the stars

Sucker for sap when we'll done

And this was -really- well done snappiness. I loved her take on "space ghost vampire" and crossing Spock-ish science-ese with serious poetry of the soul. I enjoyed the first two as fun, fast-paced, sexy reads, but this is my favorite.

Dry humor

Spunky meets serious and literal, in her space ghost vampire. The storyline was unique and the personalities unusually funny together.
