I adored this one as well!!!

This series is really kicking off with the Superboy/Robin issues. I'm loving them so far! It's such an interesting dynamic (although, I know, I know, one might say the Robin/Superboy issues with Tim and Kon is kind of the same concept. Except Tim is more like Jon and Kon is more like Damian, personality wise). Anyway, I adore these!

I've said before, I have a soft spot for Damian even when he's being a brat and oh my god, is he being a little jerk in these issues. He doesn't like Jon and I'm not sure if it's mostly because his emotions make him lose control of his abilities or because he accidentally killed Lois' cat with his heat vision. (Also, the fact that Damian loves animals so much but doesn't care for humans is part of why I love him so much! :) ) Either way, Damian is still not quite a Jon fan in this issue.

After their fight blew up the genetics (?) lab in the batcave, their fathers force them to go on a series of tasks to prove they can work together. Of course they do the most to avoid having to do that. There's a really cute moment when they're both camped out on Goliath's stomach and they talk about what their fathers hope to get out of this "boot camp." Damian says that they're expected to become friends and we get this adorable moment where Jon asks if that's possible with this hopeful look on his face. This kid is adorable!

description

Anyway, they eventually learn to work together and earn their capes back. I can't wait to read more about how their friendship develops.

Definitely a recommend!

Update: They're getting their own series! Damian and Jon will team up for Super Sons #1 in February!

Jon and Damian have to work together to get outta their superhero “boot camp.” Nobody stops by to fight them, but is easily dealt with. Damian takes the train and Jon plays catch up. Goliath shows up too and the boys end up riding him toward home. The boys end up failing every test

When they get back to the batcave the dna samples that were spilled from last issue formed some weird goo-ey thing that has Batman and Superman. The two boys work together and actually free their dads. They earn their capes back

Some weird characterization from Batman when they’re all picking out Christmas trees, but it was fun nonetheless. The boys end up fighting again

Another 2 part story-line named "In The Name of the Father" features Superman and Batman teaming up to teach their two respective sons the importance of friendship and team work .

What I Liked

Starting with the whole Damian suspecting Jon to be a threat angle , it was almost reminiscent to the days of Batman doing the same and it made the whole 'Like father , like son' into context . This book gave me furthur reasons to find Damian Wayne* annoying and liking Jon , which is exactly the opposite of what I feel about their fathers .

* Worst.Robin.Ever

There are a lot of hilarious moments between the pair of kids and then there are moments of warmth shared between the parents and their kids . The book was a all out fun filled comics with a lot of focus on the relationships .

What I didn't Like

Being a two part series, much of the good things of the series were based on the first part of the book, The second part was all in all an average outcome .

With the all the efforts to emphasize the importance of Team-work in the Supersons , The final conclusion felt a bit anti-climatic , and it seriously made me say "Are You kidding me right now?"

Another issue was the art work , it was a fancy style and mostly everything looked good , but sometimes it was harder to follow up on what actually was going on in the panels and the panels where faces of Superman , Alfred, Bruce came up , It all appeared very weird with features changing every panel and resulting in a very inconsistent artwork

conclusions

All said and done this was a really fun filled story arc and it has really got me excited about the still uncertain Supersons Title . Because if that title turns out to be half as much as this book than I'd call it money well spent . That said I simply can't wait for more Supersons !

Can't enjoy those two kids. Too much childish and really not entertaining at all. If this series doesn't bounce back soon I will stop following it...

"In the Name of the Father, Part Two: World's Smallest" is the second part in a two-part story written by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason, which is also penciled by Patrick Gleason. It was first published as the eleventh issue in the fourth series of Superman and later collected in Superman: Trail of the Super Sons.

In order to teach their sons about teamwork, Superman and Batman put Superboy and Robin in a training mission in the cold mountains. After finding their superhero gear, the boys are attacked by Nobody, who explained the rules of the exercise: getting past her is just the beginning – they have three more challenges and earn their respective badges back.

The two managed to fight off Nobody, who accidentally caused an avalanche. Fight off Goliath whose animal instincts have kicked in by Nobody's sonic powers, survived a train wreck only to face a storm above Gotham City. As they approached the storm, Superboy tells Goliath to fly above the storm, while Robin insists they go through the eye of the storm. Confused, Goliath flies straight into the storm – a storm Superman created and declared that they failed the exercise – telling them to go to the Batcave to discuss further training.

As soon as the boys reach the Batcave, however, they find their fathers captured by a bizarre monster created from genetic samples Batman had taken from his enemies. Finally working together, the boys defeat the monster and save their fathers. Although they didn't pass the exercise, they were still able to put their difference aside for a common goal. Alfred Pennyworth gives them their capes back and declares them the "Super Sons". Despite their new found friendship, they still get into fights, much to their fathers' annoyances.

All in all, Superman (Vol. 4) #11 was excellently written and depicted. I really liked the premise of the story of how two fathers come together to teach their exemplary children get along. Although, they didn't pass the mission as planned, they did come together in the end when their fathers were in danger. This two-part story is a prelude of sorts to the Super Sons series, which I look forward to reading.

I really don't like Damian Wayne. I hope the Super Sons are able to stop being Super Annoying soon enough. Aside from Damian being Damian, this was a very solid issue. I like seeing Clark and Bruce buddy up a bit more.

Jurgens na Action Comics e Tomasi em Superman, esses dois estão literalmente destruindo tudo.
E como é bom ver o Damian e o John juntos.

Enjoyable at first but then ran off the rails with cliches. Not impressed. Cool introduction to Super Sons. These tests could have been more clever and less forced. Missed opportunity.

This wraps up the Supersons intro in a pretty bow. This was fun. Nothing spectacular, a nice father son story.

Superman & Batman set up a series of trials for Jon & Damian to get through. Their dads put it together because they want their sons to learn to work together since all they did was bicker in the last issue.

The bickering definitely did not stop because Damian is the King of Brats. I love their frenemy friendship & I hope I see more of them.

In the end, they finally work together when they think that their dads are taken by the Joker, Swamp Thing & other morphed enemies. Alfred thinks that the boys have earned the right to get their capes back. Clark & Bruce realize that the boys still have some learning to do because they start fighting again at the end.

Bruce & Clark hanging out casually outside their superhero persona EQUALS a happy me.

I don't know what it is, but the dynamic between Damien and Jon is kind of annoying to me. Hopefully Super Son will be different, because I just don't think I'll like it if it's more of this.

My god this is delightful. Hope the book never goes back to whatever asinine Clark-centric storylines it was doing before—but only if Damian and Bruce get to keep being co-leads.

This has...entertaining moments. Clark and Bruce (suddenly totes besties? wtf did I miss?!) send the boys off on a series of tests to try to make them work together instead of fighting, and...it feels like it *wants* to be Goonies but ends up being, I dunno, Masters of the Universe (shudder). Lamesauce. It’s an obvious setup to launch the Super Sons title, and I’m hoping that finally means this book can potentially try being Superman and not Superfam. Dammit! Let me love youuuuuu!!!!
