As the title suggests this book is not simply about Galen but traces the career of his ideas through time. I was particularly interested in the seventeenth century critiques of Galenism. Temkin writes in a clear, scholarly and authoritative style. If you are interested in the history of medicine this is a book you should read, both for the subject and especially for the scholarship of the author.
