This was a nice change to the usual find true loves and be happy forever after and usually get married and have a baby. This time we get to see the reality of life in the mix. The day to day things that everyone faces like work, family who doesn't et it (I really wanted to sock Luke's mom), and of course a newborn. I love Ellie, Luke, and Kayne's motto and solid communication through all this. A poly relationship is really tough but its pretty awesome when it works.

I thought that this book felt more like a series of scenes to outline a story, rather than a complete narrative. One of my biggest issues is that the story starts 9 years after Ellie, Luke and Kayne have formed their triad and we didn't get a chance to get to know, or like the characters before they all started making poor decisions - our only experience with them is negative and petty. On top of that, how did they have a 9 year relationship and remain so hopelessly clueless to one another's emotional states?!

The Part 1/Part 2 split also confused me since there wasn't a significant shift in the story between the two, and why not split it into 3 parts to mirror the title?

Ellie, Kayne and Luke has an unique relationship. Kayne's mother doesn't approve of it and neither does Luke's parents. When they let everyone know that Ellie is pregnant they all have their opinions about it. Because of her upbringing Luke's mother doesn't feel she's going to be a good mother. Ellie doesn't feel she's going to be either. Once it's out about how she feels the guys and her pull together to make sure she knows she's going to be a great mom.

Once the baby is born there's some drama. The three of them realizes the obsticles they are going through can only make what they have that much stronger. Would love to see a continuation of their story.

This is an amazing read. Just what I have come to expect from Maxine Novak. This group are about to have a baby and each member has an as yet undiscovered worry. Each one scared to tell the others. Other people interfere and cause the triad to struggle to stay on an even footing. This book is well written and even though I worried the triad would never recover I kept reading. I suggest you read this book if you love mmf books it's a brilliant read. You will be looking for more Maxene Novak book's to read, there are plenty.
