Rate this book
Poor Boy's Christmas
It’s Christmas in Asherville, Texas and Poor Boy finally comes home. He’s no longer the waif we grew to love; he is very much a man now. As the stage coach approaches his beloved town he spots Sheriff Shane O’Conner riding off after a pair of bank robbers. Poor Boy, the new deputy quickly finds a horse and races after them. One of the robbers is killed and to his surprise the other outlaw is a beautiful young woman.

Molly McDonagh is heartbroken, the last of her family is dead. Now she’s in jail waiting to hang. Bounty hunters soon come to see if she is another wanted female outlaw and Shane decides Poor Boy needs to take his prisoner to a ranch where they can hide out as brother and sister.

How can something as sweet and wonderful as love be so very painful? Loving someone you know is going to swing from a rope is agony. Poor Boy knows Christmas is a time for miracles but he’s never experienced one before. Can he truly give away his heart to someone who has no future? Can living for the moment be uplifting or is it sheer heartbreak?

The Greatest Gift
Upon hearing screams, handsome rancher, Foster O’Donnell races to his barn and finds a stranger giving birth. When he tells her his name, she screams he can’t be Foster O’Donnell. Foster O’Donnell is the father of her baby. Can Christmas change their mutual distrust? Will Foster and Ginger find The Greatest Gift?

When one of the two is shot the other gives up. Turns out it is a girl. Molly explains how her and her father were forced to rob the bank by another man. What a wonderful conclusion to an extraordinary series! Poor Boy captured my heart when he appeared in the 3rd book of the series, Shane's Bride, and I was eager to read his love story. He and Molly had so many road blocks to their happy ending, but Christmas miracles can happen. This story will stay with you long after the last page has been read.

Great stories...........

Two great stories,, the author has treated us to a bonus short story, the Greatest Gift, the featured story, Poor Boy's Christmas, are both wonderful creations. The author has a way of putting the characters and story together, being a man I can't truly understand what it would be like to be unmarried and exspecting a child.

Love to read

Well I just finished the series. What a great one. I could relax and enjoy my time with the characters without a lot of angst. There's so much of that in the world and when I read I want to relax and enjoy my time with the people I'm living with for a couple of hours. Thank you Ms. Ball for a pleasant time with this series.

Both books fantastic

Both these stories kept you reading to see what would happen next. The first follows Poor Boy from previous books and left you catch up with previous couples. The second was a great Christmas story.

Good story line

I read to the end because the plot intrigued me. If the author hadn't used profanity all through it, I would have given 5 stars. This story didn't need the profanity to make it realistic!!!

Boy to Manhood

Dreams due come true. Wouldn't it be nice to judges like judge Gleason. He judge people fairly by what they did and what kind of charter they have.

"A Love To Cherish"

Author Kathleen Ball is a very prolific author who can sweep you into romance, some pain, mystery, and always heart warming emotions. Poor Boy Hastings arrives home to Asherville, Texas, after spending his school years in New York City. He is now a deputy for Sheriff Shane O'Conner. He joins Shane in a horse chase after two bank robbers. One of the robbers is a beautiful woman, Molly McDonagh, and the other her father who is killed in the chase. Molly is in jail, waiting to be hanged. But Poor Boy is told by Shane to take her to a ranch and they can hide out as brother and sister until the judge returns to town. This is an intriguing story of another Christmas miracle. A real heart warmer. Highly recommend.

Two Wonderful Books For The Price of One!

I enjoyed reading Poor Boy's book and him finally finding a HEA. Love his character and our heroine, Molly. I enjoyed reuniting again with the characters, from the previous books, always fun to catch up. When the story ended, I was pleasantly surprised to see there was an additional book to read, The Greatest Gift. This was a lovely little story and enjoyed it very much. JudyE

Seeing Po0r Boy grow up in this series allowed readers to see the love of members of a commuity and that love returned to others. This series of mail order brides for Texans has the whole gambit of characters you either love, or love to hate. The moral expectations contrast worlds apart from those of the 2000's and not always for the better. Some things, as family violence, haven't improved and it is difficult to see other values declining as well.
