It's funny when he says "Mouth." instead of "I want to kiss you now." And when she calls IT "fourth base"! Her re-telling of the night for Chrissy's sake was great. It also sounds like the best date ever.

I want to be Francesca when I grow up.

I want Dennis to die a slow, painful death.

Jessica drunk is awesome. And Chrissy! Poor Slade probably had to wash his brain out with detergent.

I want to know Violet and Cain's backstory badly.

That was the most emotional break-up scene I have ever read. The kind that needs to be in a movie.

Her parents suck.

I hope Tony and Francesca get their own book! Can't wait!

Slade, there's a sucker born every minute, pal.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Slade is like a big ole' teddy bear when it comes to Jessica, "Slade caught her by the waist so quickly, she almost fell. "Hello to you too." His eyebrow arched and the corners of his lips moved up slightly." He's a playful man with a dirty mind, "me and my painful hard-on will see in you 12 hours. I hope you know it's hurting. Bad." He's also a possessive sort when it comes to his girl, "a low growl escaped Slade. That was his woman's a** Travis was ogling." I enjoyed Slade and Jessica's story but Jack and Chrissy's still take the cake for me. I'm hoping Frances and Tony are up next.

Slade and Jessica are friends. Slade has been asking her out for months but Jessica was in a relationship. When her ex beats her up so badly she is in the hospital and needs help recovering, Slade steps up and has Jessica stay at his house while he takes care of her. Slade is pretty amazing. He's a man-whore who doesn't really do relationships but he's always upfront and honest with the women he sleeps with. He knows that Jessica is different and he has every intention of showing her. I really liked Jessica. She's been through a lot but she's still strong. Slade and Jessica together = HOT! There were quite a few scenes in this book that were really smoking hot! Also, this book was really funny at times and there was just enough drama and angst to keep it interesting. I really enjoyed this and I'm loving this series!

While i enjoy the banter in Against the Cage, i do not enjoy Full Contact. The caharcters as stupid and lame. The hero is a big pussy. And the heroine is immature and weak. Eventhough the author stress over and over again that the heroine is brave, strong and smart. Well i guess the author is trying very hard to save the characters but still not helping with the story overall.

0.0% decided against rereading against the cage - have soo many books (and fanfiction) to read and loads of rereads already planned to do - I decided against this particular one (especially with how limited my reading time is now :( )but I am excited to start this one :) I really enjoyed the first :)

4.0% Baby, I hope you brought chairs. This is about to get real good,” Jack said, amused. Chrissy once again slapped his chest and shushed him. Slade’s best friend was really enjoying his shitty morning. Prick.
Yay Chrissy and jack! <3 haha this is hilarious - poor Slade he's really not having a good morning!

8.0% How in the hell did those two dogs fu—”
Hahah gotta admit Id be thinking the same thing Slade is! :D already really enjoying this :)

10.0% Fully expecting some fallout from her little tirade, she was surprised when instead he looked at her and his smile grew even bigger. “You know, women don’t usually tell me what’s on their mind.” He squeezed her hand. “It’s kinda refreshing. Glad you don’t feel the need to go along with what you think I want.”
I love that too! Think I'm definitely gonna love jessica and Slade!

11.0% She felt honored that he was speaking so earnestly, so openly. This was not a man who spoke of feelings, and he was basically telling her his hopes and dreams.
I love that they already know each other but are still only on their first date! Also love how open Slade is being with jessica! So so so glad I finally got around to reading this! <3

12.0% “You have a flair for words, baby.”
Awwww these two are so open with each other! I fucking LOVE IT! I'm loving jessica and Slade already! <3

13.0% “I’ve wanted to kiss you for months. I kiss you, and you taste like goddamn strawberries! I fuckin’ love strawberries. I want to eat you, do you understand? Your mouth…I want it.” “Uh…” Sounded like a great plan to her. “Nope. Get that look off your face. I’ve been waiting months, and now that I know this added thing about how your lips taste, I don’t want just a little more. I want so much more, and tonight was our first date and I’m trying to be a gentleman. So please get your strawberry mouth and your gorgeous ass up so I can take you home before I eat you up.
:O okay I officially LOVE Slade! <3 <3

14.0% <3 the texting! Already loving this book - hate the fact I have to go to bed! :/

16.0% “Oh my God, Jess. I can’t believe you just said that.”
Hahaha Jess does come out with hilarious things!! <3 <3

18.0% Jessica: So you were just going to abandon that poor guy and come over here? Slade: For third base? Fuck yeah. Jessica: How about you pick me up at 7? Slade: Me and my painful hard-on will see you in 12 hours. I hope you know it’s hurting. Bad. Jessica: Poor thing. I’ll make it up to you…both.
Love the flirting between these two! I'm scared to see what happens though coz it's going so well :'(

20.0% His words caught her off guard. This man had a naughty mouth. And she so wanted it all over her body.
Me too! I love his mouth! That was hot and that convo! <3 LOVE SLADE AND JESSICA! <3

22.0% Let me hear you say it,” Slade said. He was standing in his I’m-a-sexy-super-muscular-badass stance, except this time almost naked. Jessica leaned forward on her elbows and rolled her eyes. “I promise I will not force my vagina on your penis, Slade Martin. All I want is to see your tattoo.”
Hahah hilarious! Love Jess! Also love that Slade wants to show Jess he's different with her and wants to protect her!

23.0% Slade, on the other hand, was an active participant. In fact, it felt as if he was actually…Omigod, she thought, he’s fucking my mouth. With anyone else, she’d have felt a little self-conscious and perhaps even violated, but with this man—it was fucking sexy! She was doing this to him. Making him so frantic he couldn’t control himself.
So so hot! <3 <3

26.0% Her internal dialogue was really getting out of control.
I love jess's internal dialogue! <3 this book! <3 <3

28.0% “I—I’m sorry, what?” she gulped. “I asked you,” he repeated, his tone serious, “if you’ve ever been fucked.” She gulped again. “No. I’ve only had sex with two other people, and I don’t think that was fucking. I don’t think that was anything, really.” “Mouth.”
Oh this is going to be hot! <3 <3

Turn around, lady. I hope you’re ready, because I’m going to fuck you right now. Your first fuck ever, and it’s goin’ to be me inside of you, right here. I tried to be a gentleman, but I can’t anymore. You win. Turn around and give me that perfect ass of yours.”
Slade is SOOO fucking hot! I LOVE IT! <3 <3

29.0% And that was the moment he realized that Jessica was truly something special. He adored her and needed more of her in his life. She was such an optimistic person. She said what she felt, whether she was feeling silly, angry, or happy; right now, all it would take to make her happy was a chocolate chip cookie. If she was to suddenly walk out of his life, he’d…he didn’t know what he’d do. She’d stormed into his life, stirred up parts of him that would never be the same again. And suddenly he was scared shitless.
Oh Slade! <3 I can't stop highlighting! <3

30.0% His face hardened. He didn’t want to think of his Jessica doing anything with any other man. This woman not only made him lose his mind with wanting to protect her but also made him crazy with jealousy. “Lady, I want to be your last…so you better get used to that.” Her eyes welled up with tears, and she whispered, “All in.” “Now you’re getting it, baby.”
Why the fuck is Slade so perfect!! <3 <3

33.0% “Don’t stop, Jessica, keep touching yourself,” he whispered, his voice deep and desperate. She closed her eyes and continued. It was the most erotic thing she’d ever done. Hell, it was more erotic then any fantasy she’d ever had. When she opened her eyes, on the verge of climax, Slade was gone. She looked left, then right, and then got up on her elbows before suddenly being assaulted—in the best possible way. He was on his knees and his mouth was on hers.
So fucking hot! I LOVE this book - I need to do work but can't put it down! <3

37.0% Chrissy sat back, arms crossed, a knowing smirk on her face, as he tried to figure it out for himself. “You’re stuttering.” “Shut up.”
Haha love seeing Christie and Slade together :)

42.0% A moment later, to Jessica’s astonishment, he walked back in, jumped over the bar—jumped!—and snaked an arm around her waist, bringing her flush against his body. “I really need that mouth of yours.” Before she had a chance to think about it, he cupped her chin in his hand and placed his lips against hers.
Slade is soo hot! <3 <3

45.0% Shit. Sorry. I didn’t mean that.” He let go of her forearm and ran his fingers through his hair. “Fuck, Jess, I’m sorry. That was an asshole thing to say.” She stood staring at him, her chin quivering. Then she turned and walked out.
Oh Slade! That was a dick thing to say!

46.0% You’re bluffing.” “You prepared to play those odds?”
I HATE DENNIS!

48.0% “If you think you’re leaving this town, you’ve lost your fucking mind, Jessica. Goodbye, friend.” He winked and left.
Oh Slade! I love you - hope you find out the truth soon!

49.0% It had all become clear to him at that moment. Jessica really didn’t want to date him anymore, and the “let’s be friends” stuff was her way of letting him down easy. He should have known better—he’d practically invented that line, and here he’d been groveling for the last week. Wasn’t karma just one big fat ol’ bitch!
Oh Slade :'(

51.0% The two men walked toward her at the same time. Holy shit.
Definitely holy shit!

52.0% When Jeffrey said “my girl,” Slade’s grip around Jessica’s arm tightened. Her eyes widened even more. At last Slade released her. “No problem, man,” he told Jeffrey. “Hold on tight to this one. Your girl here, she’s slippery.” His eyes burned a hole in her, and his nostrils flared. Then Slade turned and walked back to Tara.
Oh poor Slade! :'(

55.0% Jamie Lynn bellowed out a huge laugh.
Hahah Jessica is hilarious drink! <3 <3

57.0% Cain didn’t hesitate: he grabbed her by her thighs with one of his arms and lifted her over his shoulders. Chrissy, Jessica, and Jamie Lynn’s mouths opened in surprise, then they began to laugh and giggle.
Hahah I'm so looking forward to Cain and violets story - please say they have a story/book!

58.0% That was his warning. Shit. Shit. Shit
Shit :'( I hate Dennis soooo fucking much!

59.0% She grabbed the plate and threw it against the wall. It broke into a million little pieces, just like her heart
These two are breaking my heart :'(

61.0% I don’t mean to be that way, and I don’t mean to make it difficult for you. I guess I just need you to know that I did my best to get you to stay. That you really know I don’t want you to leave. I know you’ve already decided, but I just need you to know that I did everything I could.”
Oh Slade! You're so goddamned perfect! <3 you n Jess are breaking my heart :'(

62.0% “What the fuck? She just hustled us,” Rob gasped. “I did not. You just assumed I didn’t know how to play ’cause I have boobs.” “Actually, cariño, I think it was more due to your ass than your tits,” Tony said with a laugh.
Hahahaha GO JESS! <3 <3

64.0% Chrissy, flushed and frazzled, stepped back and composed herself. “What was that for?” she asked Jack. “Does there have to be a reason to want to kiss you?” Chrissy giggled and headed over to the nearby patio table to put down the bowl. “Man, you practically peed on her,” Travis said.
Haha love that Jack is marking his territory haha <3 <3

66.0% No.” And that was the last word Cain said for the rest of the evening.
Hahahah I actually cannot wait for Cains book!! <3 <3

67.0% She wanted to scream, Don’t give up on us. But all she could do was watch him leave.
Awww these two are breaking my heart :'(

73.0% More sunflowers by your door for your neighbor this morning, by the way. I just threw them away at the dumpster. Shitload of flowers!
Holy shit! That's not good! :'(

75.0% Jessica, listen to me. Men like Slade protect their women. It wasn’t up to you to make that decision. You’re his and that’s more important than anything. Men like Slade don’t love easily. But when they do love, they love hard and they love forever.”
Aw I love Jack! So glad Jess finally told someone! Really should go to bed but can't put this book down! <3 <3

76.0% Again, she had to hurt Slade. She only hoped he’d take her back when the nightmare was all over.
Oh god this is going to hurt so bad I can tell!

80.0% It was the only thing she could say to make him believe her, and it was so difficult because she knew this would crush him. He winced, as if he’d just taken a physical blow to the chest. “Wow. Well, I guess I’m blind, then.” He spat. “I may have slept with a lot of women before you, but I never lied to them and I never manipulated them. You…” He took a step forward. “You used me.” His voice faltered a little before he continued. “You needed a warm body. You are cold and heartless and I can’t believe I fell in love with you. Just leave—let Dennis get away with it. Hope to God he doesn’t do the same thing to another woman. I hope you can sleep at night with that thought, Jessica.” He turned around and opened the door to the Academy, but he threw one last dagger over his shoulder before disappeared inside. “And I hope you can live with knowing you broke my fucking heart.” His voice was thick with emotion. She’d broken his heart. And her heart was shattering because of it.
Oh Slade! Seriously feel like crying! These two are breaking my heart! :'(

82.0% Slade was tired of hearing everyone’s concerns
Oh god no! Slade don't do it!

86.0% He continued to yell, his skin pale, his head wrapped in gauze, monitors and IVs attached to him. “You don’t get to make decisions about us on your own. You don’t get to leave me out of things when you’re scared, especially when they concern your safety. You don’t get to make those fucking decisions on your own, Jessica.” “Please, Slade, calm down. Your head,” Jessica whispered tearfully. “Come here.” He reached for her hand and pulled her face down next to his. “And you certainly don’t get to leave me again. You will not leave me again, Jessica.
Awwwww! So perfect! I literally should have gone to bed an hour ago but I can't put this book down! <3

89.0% Tony stormed out of the gym.
I'm so looking forward to the next book - glad it's already out! :) <3

100.0% Finally, Slade had the thing he’d never thought he would have. The thing he’d never even thought he wanted. He had the same thing his best friend had with his sister: he had the love of a woman. Not just any woman, but the woman he loved with all that he was
Awwww perfect! 5 stars! I loved this book so much - so looking forward to the rest of the series! Love the pairings we can already see forming! Hope I'm right with them! :D amazing - couldn't put it down! <3

Amazon Buy Link (Pre-Order)----->> Full Contact: Worth the Fight Series

~~ 4.5 Stars ~~

Full Contact is the second book in Sidney's Worth the Fight series.  Even though this book is part of a series and said it can be read as a standalone,  I truly believe that you should read book 1 ( Against the Cage) first. This book is about another couple but I thought that the story lines were interconnected.  This storyline was started in book 1 and then continued in this book.  I feel that if you don't read these books in order then you might be slightly confused or lost.  Plus I think you get the true experience of the characters if you read book 1 first.

I will say that I did like the first book a little bit better, but not by much, these were both fantastic stories.  I was so excited to read Slade and Jessica's story after reading the first book.  Sidney does an excellent job setting up their story in the previous book.  I knew their story was going to be great.  I loved the flow and pace of the book, my only complaint was that I thought the drama of the storyline was introduced a little to early. I think the drama with Dennis could've been drawn out a little more...kind of build up the suspense a little more.  That is the reason I couldn't give it 5 stars, but this is still a favorite of mine and I will for sure read it again in the future.  I also look forward to the next book in the series. What I really like about Sidney's books is that she offers us such a sweet and sexy love story, but she also touches on some tough subjects (domestic abuse). She has a great ability of pulling a lot of different emotions out of you. With the cast of characters she has created she will make you laugh, smile, blush, cry and even yell a little bit.

I really liked Slade and Jessica in Against the Cage (Book 1). Slade is your typical MMA fighter with an attitude who loves his women, but that all changed when he met Jessica. Jessica was a girl in an abusive relationship, who moved to a town with her abuser and eventually became friends with the towns people, Slade included. I thought Sidney gave an accurate account of what a person feels and goes through who is in an abusive relationship. My heart really broke for Jessica and everything Dennis put her through. I enjoyed watching Jessica and Slade grow into better people and watching their relationship blossom. Now don't get me wrong their relationship wasn't all romance and roses, they had quite a few obstacles they had to overcome, but I was happy with how this story turned out.

I loved that we got to see all the old characters again and continue on with their stories. We also got introduced with some new people and I look forward to reading more about them. I loved that she also incorporated Drogo into this story again….I love that little dog ;)

I would definitely recommend this series to anyone!!!! If you are a fan of the MMA romance book, I think you should give these a try. I know that I will read them again in the future and they will hold a place on my favorites shelf. Again, I will say that these books should be read in order to get the full impact of the characters and storyline.

Sidney Halston has another knockout with her latest release in the Worth The Fight series. Full Contact is a heavyweight contender in the world of MMA romances.

We met Slade Martin in the previous book, Against The Cage. He is the brother that Chrissy had to bail out of jail for fighting outside of the ring. Slade was fully justified in his actions that landed him in jail. He was protecting the woman that had stolen his heart.

Slade fell for Jessica long before he ended up in jail for beating her boyfriend to a pulp. Her dynamic personality, quick wit, and appreciation for the simple things in life captured his heart. When her sadistic boyfriend finally goes to far and beats Jessica within inches of her life, Slade is there to pick up the shattered pieces of her soul. He vows he will take care of her and never let any harm come to her again.

Their friendship moves from a platonic relationship to a mutual attraction. They begin building a beautiful loving relationship. They will have a lot of work ahead of them to make this relationship a success.

Slade was a known womanizer before he met Jessica. Women from his past keep showing up at the most inopportune times. Jessica’s ex boyfriend is also threatening Jessica behind the scenes. She is afraid that he is going to ruin Slade and her close knit group of friends lives. Her fears are very real.

Slade will do anything to keep Jessica close. He has finally found a woman that is worth the fight.

Slade and Jessica burn up the pages with their sizzling hot romance. The humorous banter, the sexy scenes, and passionate moments will have readers placing their bets on this couple.

All the members of WTF are back in full force. Their dynamic personalities make this book even more entertaining. And yes…Drogo…the Chihuahua is back and showing these tough MMA guys exactly who is boss and who is more manly. Go Drogo!

This book was such a joy to read. Sidney Halston combined passionate scenes and humorous moments in all the right places. The dynamic cast of characters were exactly the kind of people we all want as friends. It was fun to watch Slade grovel. It was delightful to watch Jessica build up her backbone and reclaim her life after the horrific abuse she endured.

Let me just say this… I would love to go out on the town with Jessica and the girls. They are my kind of people.

Sidney Halston created a story that makes you feel good and tingle all over when you finish the book. I highly recommend Full Contact.

Full Contact can be read as a stand alone romance or in series order. Both books are worth the time and worth the fight.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series. Below The Belt will release on February 10, 2015.

****Full Review****

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review

Jessica is recouping at her friend Slade's (well he's a little more than a friend but we'll get to that in a minute) house after being physically assaulted by her now ex-boyfriend Dennis. The actual assault and reasons for the assault happen in the book preceding this one but I didn't read that one and felt the flashbacks the author provides gives enough information to square away any confusion that might be felt by any newcomers. Slade is a former MMA fighter, had to retire due to health reasons, that now is a trainer at the Worth the Fight Academy. He's persistently asked his neighborhood bartender Jessica out but always receiving the same answer of "I have a boyfriend" which he optimistically thinks as "not a no." When he gets the word that Jessica is in the hospital he flies to her side and keeps her by his.

Full Contact is a Random House Loveswept title, it is therefore a little fluffier and lighter than what I typically read and my three star rating should be looked upon as more forgiving as I am rating this in the same vein as it should be read in. Jessica and Slade are both very thin characters, Jessica thinks both slutty women and Slade can't keep away from each other and Slade is probably a distant cousin of Tarzan. He sees no problem with past hookups coming out of the woodwork to either beg for him or slap him, a lot of the time right in front of Jessica. I would just like to interject too, that it is somewhat worrisome how the word slut is tossed around, not only in this story but ones like it and how a lot of the women are portrayed as brainless bimbos who deserve to be treated horribly without any resemblance of respect. Let's work to change this tired storyline.

Anyway, Jessica and Slade do have chemistry and have some heated bedroom scenes, which is probably why and what people are looking for when they pick this book up. Most of the story consists of Jessica and Slade doing a rinse and repeat of learning to trust each other. The abusive ex-boyfriend Dennis storyline is forced and thrown in to just cause tension for our couple and caused me to become annoyed with Jessica many times. The MMA aspect also plays a decent part of the story so if you like fingerless gloved up men; this has your bases covered with many side characters.

This author's writing reminds me a great deal of Kristen Ashley's earlier work before it got cleaned up a bit. The base of structure is there but the characters and story themes need to mature more. If you're looking for some mindless entertainment with muscled up dudes then this book and series could be a go to.

Oh my!! I loved me some Slade and Jessica!!

SO, initially I started this series because I have an Arc for book 3 and wanted to catch up with the rest of the series before I read it. Now, I must say I'm going to read the ARC when it's time, but basically I'm reading this series because I'm in love with the characters in it, the ARC is now just a bonus.

Full Contact takes place right before Against the Cage ends. So they overlap a little, but it is an awesome overlap that explains what was going on in another POV. Full Contact is Jessica and Slade's story. In Against the Cage, Slade sort of came across as an arrogant ass. But in Full Contact you learn so much more about him, and come to love him.

Okay, so in Against the Cage, Jessica is put in the hospital because of her idiot, crazy, ex Dennis, because she tells what really happened the night Slade was arrested. When Slade finds out he rushes to her side and decides he will anything in his power to protect her from now on. Slade has wanted to be more than friends with Jessica for months now. He knows for sure that that will be his next step with Jessica, but he finds himself wanting more, like a relationship with her not just a romp in the sheets that is typically is norm with women. And after all she has been through he knows he will need to take things slow in order to accomplish that.

Jessica has liked Slade for so long, but she knows his reputation, not to mention she was with someone else. She wants to believe that everything he is saying to her about wanting more he actually means. But she has trusted a guy before and look where that got her. Plus, every where they go it seems he has women coming out of the rafters trying to make a claim on him, which brings out a side of Jessica she was never aware she had....jealousy.

Things are going so well between them though, that they both begin to believe their relationship is going somewhere, until someone steps in the way....

I seriously loved this book. Jessica was a more likeable chick than Crissy was at times in book 1. She was confident and brave, but most importantly wasn't as judgemental. And Slade, major swoon. I loved him. This is the exact kind of book I love. Danger, suspense, great storyline and characters, and not to mention hot steamy times/ *wiggles eyebrows* I highly recommend this series. I truly can't wait for more. :)

**ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review by the girls and I at www.sizzlingpages.com **

I absolutely loved, loved this book.  Slade and Jessica's relationship felt so authentic, more
realistic - moving in real time instead of lightning speed, which some romances
seem to be.  Their kidding and playful
joking around, either when they were in bed or just hanging out together - just
sealed the deal for me as to how perfect their personalities were for each
other.

Slade was perfection.  He
may have once been a true playboy - when he first helped Jessica those playboy
days were over - he was all in for her.

It did take a little more convincing and learning to trust on
Jessica's part.  She is fresh from an
abusive relationship, and even though she's definitely attracted to Slade, she
is scared.  So what does Slade do to help
convince her he's serious - he takes things slow, he shows her how he can be a
gentlemen, he's serious about her.  I had
to laugh, because while this was what she thought she wanted - it wasn't what
she needed - but she was quick to tell him exactly what she needed.

Oh man - I was yelling "Amen, sister - that's what I
want!!!"

Unfortunately Jessica's past still comes back to haunt her, and
to protect the people she cares about, she makes decisions that cause a lot of
pain - even to herself.  Luckily Slade is not one to
totally give up, and she finds that she does have a friend or two that she can
turn to for help.

I really couldn't get enough of these two - and I'm still
chuckling at some of the funny things that Slade and Jessica said to each
other. I enjoyed Against the Cage, but I have to say I totally adored Worth
the Fight.  Definitely worth your time
reading.

Jessica has just been beaten by her crazy ex-boyfriend and is hesitant to reach out to anyone, including Slade, an MMA fighter/trainer who helped save her from her crazy ex. But the road to true love never is smooth, is it?

The Good, The Bad and Everything in Between
-Protective hero: Slade’s love for Jessica saved the book for me. He was sweet and caring, and sometimes a bit of a bonehead, but for the most part, he was just frustrated with the mixed signals.

-Funny bits: Drogo makes another appearance and he’s as adorably cantankerous as he was in the earlier book. The banter between the guys and the friendships of the girls were affectionate and helped ground their relationships and make them believable, such as the girls’ night out drunken antics and the guys’ perpetual smack talk.

-Likeable secondary characters: I’m intrigued with the guys from WtF and I’d like to see their love stories. I liked seeing Chrissy and Jack, the leads from the earlier book. This is a standalone and there’s enough information given about what happened in the earlier book that you don’t have to read it. BUT if you intend to read it, there are spoilers in this one that could affect your enjoyment of this book.

-Frustrating heroine: Jessica’s inconsistent characterization was something I struggled with and what ultimately brought my rating down. While I understand Jessica’s mindset as a battered woman and her fear of her abuser, I struggled to empathize with her when she was out of that relationship Had she been described as insecure from the very beginning, I could have believed that, but what I was told about her character and her actual actions didn’t mesh.

The Bottom Line
Despite my issues with the heroine, I liked Slade and I’m intrigued enough with the other characters that I would visit Tarpon Springs again. I’d recommend it for fans who are looking for a light read with a MMA fighter angle.

I do so love it when a man-whore falls and falls hard. I knew in the first book in this series, Against The Cage, that Slade Martin was on his way to falling but man I never expected this big, bad cage fighter to go down so easy.
Author Sidney Halston is back with Full Contact and it is another entertaining, quirky, and flat out sexy story of a man on a mission to get the woman of his dreams. Problem is as much as that woman wants him; her secrets can tear them apart.
My very feminist self tells me I should not love Slade as much as I do but I really can’t help it. The guy is smooth, he’s handsome, and is it really his fault that women’s panties drop every time he looks their way? What I absolutely adore about his man is his dedication to the sister he has reunited with and the woman he rescued after nearly being beat to death. I admire the fact that the minute he decides to go for it with Jessica he wants nothing to do with any other woman but convincing her is a whole other matter.
Jessica knows she shouldn’t get involved with Slade especially after just getting uninvolved with the man who put her in the hospital but after he’s cared for her for weeks she simply can’t say no to one date with the man. The fact that the decides to take it slow with her drives her completely nuts but it also shows he knows she is different and he wants what they have to be more. I love that Jessica called Slade on his bad behaviors and didn’t let him get away with what he always did with other women. She’s strong and sassy and that makes her a great heroine.
Jessica makes some tough choices to keep Slade and her other friends safe and while I was disappointed that she didn’t feel she could confide in Slade I also understood why she felt she couldn’t. They both made some mistakes in the way they dealt with one another but when push came to shove they were there to defend and protect and that’s what it love is all about.
Full Contact is another fine offering from author Sidney Halston and she has me quite hooked on this series and the completely fascinating group of characters. With each book I’m a little more enthralled and I can’t wait to see who is up next in this series!

After a brutal attack from her ex-boyfriend, 28 year old Jessica Cross, is healing. From broken ribs to a collapsed lung she definitely needs her rest, and with her friend Slade Martin taking care of her, she's sure to recover quickly.

33 year old Slade Martin is a MMA legend. However, a few too many blows to the head has led him to the alternate route of the business, teaching it. Plus helping his friend recover, he's got his hands full.

Falling for each other was easy, staying together is harder. With past conquests from Slade's life and an abusive ex-boyfriend from Jess' life, their romance is anything by simple. And with the looming trial and growing clientele at the gym, their relationship is put to the test.

------

I don't think I loved it as much as everyone else because in the beginning I didn't really get it. I mean I did, but I'd never read the first book soooooo I was a bit out of the loop.

You were instantly thrown into Slade and Jessica's relationship right from the beginning. No real friendship to start us out with, more like a claiming of sorts. So I felt their relationship was rushed, like way to fast for me because there was no buildup, no passing glances or innocent flirting. We bypass all of that and get right to their relationship. Which Isn't terrible, but I also didn't fall in love with them as much as I would've liked. They were awesome characters don't get me wrong. I was just missing that whole before the relationship romance, which I think you get in the first book? She flashes back remembering things about him, but still I wish there was a bit more.

Everything else with the book was great! All the side characters had great stories that I really enjoyed, and even through there were A LOT of side characters, I wasn't overwhelmed which was nice.

I definitely recommend, although I'd probably read the first book beforehand. I'd consider it a standalone in the series because it revolves around different people from the first book, but i think if you want to see how their relationship began I'd read the first! Only because if the next book is about Cain or Frances' love interests you'd get glimpses from this book.

Can I have a Slade Martin in my life please, well the Slade Martin when it came to Jessica! I thought their story was sweet from the beginning. The story opens up with Slade being ambushed by the two different girls he was “dating”. Little did these girls know that he only has eyes for Jessica Cross, and has been taking care of her for the past two weeks after he abusive boyfriend almost killed her.
Once Jessica healed, Slade finally got his date with her and so their love story began. As easy as their relationship was to get into, it was harder to keep it together. Not because of anything Slade or Jessica did, but Dennis, Jessica’s Ex, has been blackmailing her and threating Slade’s life. I have to admit, I really thought it would be Slade that would ruin their relationship, not the other way around.
I adored all the fighter’s at Slade’s gym and the banter between them and between them and all the girls in the story. Once of my favorite scenes in the book involving all the girls, was the girls night, Jessica and Chrissy were so funny!!!
I never read the first book in this series, but it did not stop me from enjoying this one! I now will get to purchase the first installment and patiently wait for book three!!! I cannot wait to hear all the other fighter’s stories, especially Cain and find out something about this silent man.

Slade Martin. Wow!! Stubborn as hell, when he sees something he wants, he goes after it with everything he has - and he wants Jessica more than anything or anyone else. Coming out of an abusive relationship, it would be easy for Jessica to be a victim, but she's not. She's strong and funny and will do whatever it takes to protect the ones she loves. Even when she's scared - and God knows, she has reason to be - she doesn't let that fear destroy her.

This book made me laugh, it made me angry (stupid Dennis!!) and it made my heart ache more than a few times. Slade might be some big tough MMA fighter, but his heart is nothing but mush when it comes to Jessica.

There are so many more stories to be told in this series - I can't wait for the next one!

I'm starting to like this series more with every book. Sidney Halston is definitely giving me a Kristen Ashley Rock Chick vibe, which I like very much.

The only thing that I didn't like about this book is the heroine, Jessica's, need to protect the hero, Slade by breaking his heart and pissing everyone off. I understand the need to protect someone, but when it is pushing you into a corner with seemingly no outs, you ask for help immediately! Two heads are better than one in trying to find a solution. Plus, it was Jessica's silence that was keeping her cornered! The only way to stop a bully is to SPEAK UP!!! Otherwise your terror will never end.

Despite that, I am definitely looking forward to the next book. Bring on Francesca and Tony!

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

What if the thing you enjoyed the most was suddenly taken away from you? What if it was the one thing that you were really good at and the only thing you had ever done? This is the story about a man and a woman that finds out that life is what you make it and not what you may think it should be!

Slade Martin is a cage fighter and that is the only thing that he has ever wanted to do. After too many hits to the head his doctor told him no more fighting because one more hit to the head could be his last. Slade has become a partner at the gym where he had trained. His life is taking a different direction and that direction has a name, Jessica Cross. Since the first day he met her, Slade had been pursuing her, asking her out and wanting her to be with him. When he saves her from her abusive boyfriend he thinks maybe there is a chance. But Slade had not expected her ex to almost beat her to death. He agrees to care for Jessica until she is on her feet again since there is no one else to help her.

Jessica cannot believe how lucky she is to be alive and to have someone like Slade willing to take care of her. She has been attracted to him from the beginning but refused to betray her then boyfriend. The reason she had moved to Tarpon was her college boyfriend, Dennis. His uncle was the mayor and Dennis had lofty goals of becoming a politician on the national level. He needed the right woman at his side and he had decided it was Jessica. Now that she was free of him and his abusiveness Jessica vowed never to go back and she can now accept Slade’s offer of a date. Things are really hot between the two of them and the future looks good. Or is it? Jessica is a good girl from the right side of the tracks and Slade is a bad boy from the wrong side! The fact that Slade has more or less earned the reputation of ‘Man Whore’ does not help in their future relationship.

Will Slade keep the woman he dreams of being his? Can Jessica forgive and forget Slade’s past? Will the past leave them along? Read and enjoy this book about the journey they make to redemption!

4.5 Star Review--This Worth the Fight Series is worth the read

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I was anxious to start Slade's story. This book is best read after reading the first book in the series Against the Cage, although enough details are provided in this book that if you mistakenly read it first you won't be lost. Slade, Chrissy's brother and Jack's best friend gets his chance with the girl he can't get off his mind, Jessica. Healing from her injuries, Jessica has spent a great deal of time with Slade and it has been completely platonic. Slade, worried about Jessica coming out of an abusive relationship, was good with taking things slow, but with Jessica on the mend he is hoping to take things to the next step.

Jessica has always flirted with Slade even before she left her scumbag ex, so she is excited to go out with him but is slightly wary due to his womanizing past. The great thing is this couple really works. They enjoy spending time with each other and their chemistry is off the charts HOT!! Unfortunately, Jessica's past comes back to destroy the happiness she and Slade are experiencing.

Right about this time is when I was ready to flip on Jessica. In my mind she is as dumb as she has categorized herself in the past when she had dealt with her ex. Seriously, this girl really frustrated me. I cannot believe her reaction and how she handled things and I cannot believe she would actually have such blatant disregard for Slade's feelings.

Now Slade was not entirely innocent in everything but it was obvious how much he cared for Jessica. After all he went through with her, he really never gave up on them and for that he makes an awesome hero. Luckily, Jessica finally gets her head out of her backside and decides to make some right decisions. Unfortunately, Slade still deals with the blowout from her decisions but in the end it all works out. I love that guys don't overdo drama as we were able to have a quicker resolution to this couple's conflict.

One of the best parts of this book was not only the awesomeness of Slade but all the great characters that were further introduced. This series has the potential to offer a lot more sexy tatted up MMA love stories and I cannot wait!!!

Full Contact is book #2 in the Worth The Fight series, I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review so here goes...

Full Contact is the first book I have read by Sidney Halston and to be honest I hadn’t realised that this was book #2 in a series! Although Full Contact is a standalone I really feel like I would have benefitted from reading the first book as I believe both Slade and Jessica were important characters in it and the background info would have been great as a kicking off point for this book.

That being said I still read this book without being too confused; I’m just a control freak who needs to read a book series in order!!

Ok I’m gonna start with a round of applause and a standing ovation for Slade!!! OMG I LOVE Slade it’s been ages since I’ve found a strong, sexy, alpha fighter guy that I’ve liked but holy hell Slade is perfect!!!

To be truthful I actually adore everything about him, I loved how he just melted around Jessica and became a big ole softy. Yet he still managed to kick back into alpha mode when any sexy time action happened.

Jessica is a real sweetie and I really felt that her and Slade had great chemistry; I loved the banter they had when they were being silly. Don’t get me wrong I love me a good sex scene, but this book had a base of friendship between the characters that just made it much more believable and deeper than just a sexual connection.

I actually loved to hate Dennis he’s a great villain totally psycho lol I can picture his ‘Crazy Eyes’!!

Sidney Halston has set up the future books in the series brilliantly because I genuinely want to read about Tony and Francesca, Violet and Cain, JL and Enzo and whoever turns up for Travis. I love a good ensemble cast and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series as they are released!

As a busy blogger I read a LOT of books, and being honest some of them are RUBBISH!!! Just lately I’ve had a run of just OK books and this book has restored my faith a little.

Full Contact made me laugh, smile and gave me a warm contented feeling once id finished 4 happy smiley stars from me!!

I know a lot of people liked this book, but it just didn't do anything for me. I don't have a lot to say other than I was pretty disappointed and frustrated. Jessica really annoyed me. I thought her discions were pretty stupid and she turned into a typical powerless victim. I like my heroines much stronger than her character, so I got pretty fed up with her after the 50% mark in the book and just wanted to scream at her to get her shit together! Why couldn't she just put her big girl panties on and tell Slade what was going on?! Or at least somebody!

description

I'm not a fan of books where the hero and heroine get together right away and then something happens and their relationship falls apart for some stupid unnecessary reason and. I ended up skimming through almost the entire last half of the book because I got so frustrated and didn't have patience to wait for Jessica to get her act together. I hated how she treated Slade, especially after how caring he was and everything he did for her. I thought she owed him more than how she treated him and didn't have faith and trust in him. I get that she didn't want him to go all ballistic if/when she told him what was going on, but come on! She just seemed selfish and mean.

description

Although Slade's character wasn't really developed well, I still liked him. He tried so hard to get through to Jessica, who seemed to not try at all. She just gave up. Ugh. Jessica ruined this book for me. I don't think I'll read the next book in this series and just try a new MMA erotica next instead.

Slade doesn't do relationships, he does not do many second dates; however he has moved Jessica into his house so he can take care of her. He is going to find a way to keep her safe and away from the guy who beat her a few hits short of death. The more he gets to know the real Jessica the more Slade realizes she isn't like the women normally in his life.

Jessica is not your typical romance book heroine. She loves steak and whiskey, and she has no fear of telling Slade exactly how things are. I like her spunk and her determination. Slade is a combination of alpha with a little hidden soft side. He is rough and his soft side is a little rough too. I enjoyed that their relationship was first built on friendship, and it was great to see Slade's character evolve. There is even a subtle plot point that shows how he is different with Jessica and Slade's sudden understanding made me smile. Their relationship was hot, even their quick text message exchanges were part of the lead up to the steamy scenes.

The plot was easy for me to follow. However I think someone who picks this book up as a stand-alone might have issues. There is a lot in Against The Cage about Jessica and her ex-boyfriend and Slade's initial interaction with him. It is mentioned in this book but in passing. To truly get the situation I do feel you need to read the other book first.

I enjoy these characters and this little town that has been created. I hope I get to come back and visit with them real soon in Book 3.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review.

In the previous book in the series I wasn't really fond of Slade but once we were towards the end of the book I couldn't wait to get him story with Jessica. Her personality was the shit. Slade was such a self centered person in the previous book and clearly selfish in most things. So the attention he paid to Jessica was wonderful. It made the relationship seem so much more believable. He was almost overly considerate of her in the start. I will say all the past hookups popping up at random and thinking they were his "girl" that was annoying. A hookup is just that a hookup. He clearly didn't make it clear enough if he was going back for more so shame on him. Other then that randomness I like all of their other parts of this book. Their flirting text messages made me smile. Then when the poo hit the fan I sort of got frustrated with the entire book. Seriously your gonna let someone who already eff-d you over dictate what you are going to do. I understand the concept it just didn't work for me. And another huge thing that brought this out of a five star rating for me were the random dates Jessica went on and the one Slade went on it was such BS I wanted to scream everything else in the story was good. I look forward to the other books in this series and love this author. I can't wait to read Tony's book but I'm looking forward to Cain's the most only because he says like 2 words at a clip. It is almost set up so they all get a book and seriously I hope they do.

I'm reading this series in a round about way. I read the third book first, then the fourth both ARCs then decided I really liked it and went back to the 2nd book. Planning on reading the first this week. I really enjoy this series they are all standalone however after reading the last two first and going back to the second I really see how the characters interconnect in each book.

Onto this book Full Contact it's main characters are Slade and Jess. I'm not sure what happened at the end of book one that Slade is taking care of Jessica at the beginning of book 2. I know her boyfriend beat her and she needed to stay somewhere. Slade took her in... He has been begging her forever to go on a date. She finally relents and says yes.

Jess is not giving in to Slade's manly ways. He has a 'harem" of women coming out of the woodwork to slap him and holler at him.She feels she owes him this date for taking care of her. Little does she know that he wants more than one date.

I loved how he was always trying to protect her and she was always trying to protect him. This tiny little girl is going to protect an MMA fighter. She try's her hardest to keep him out of her crazy life and he's busy trying to keep her safe from her crazy life. There was such a good mix of romance, chemistry, angst, and HEA. I will not lie I did tear up at a certain point in this book, you'll know it when you get there.

Full Contact is Book 2 in Sidney Halston’s Worth the Fight series. This book starts off after some major things went down in Book 1, but believe it or not, it really isn’t necessary to read Against the Cage first. Anything of significance is rehashed at some point toward the start of this book so there should be no worries about being lost or unable to figure out who’s who.

Jessica, the heroine of this book, is a bartender, and I have to be honest here: one of my dream jobs is to be a bartender. I know that may seem a little strange since slinging drinks and dealing with drunk jerks all the time doesn’t sound super appealing, but when you’ve never done it, it seems so exciting (hello, have you NOT seen Cocktail?). Besides her being a bartender, I think I ended up liking Jessica because she’s sweet, funny, and real, but mostly because she’s a survivor.

Readers of the series will remember Jessica from Book 1. She was...

Jessica Cross and Slade Martin have had a flirtation going on, but Jessica won’t date Slade because she is in a relationship. When she gives her abusive boyfriend a second chance, she ends up in the hospital with injuries, a victim of domestic abuse. Slade steps in to take care of her while she recuperates from her injuries.

Slade is very much a player and as much as Jessica is attracted to him, she is not willing to be another notch on his belt. It doesn’t take long for their relationship to intensify and Slade has his work cut out for him, trying to convince Jessica that he wants more than a brief fling with her. And he did. In a sweet, sweet, sweet way. Slade’s past conquests and Jessica’s abusive ex-boyfriend make for a bumpy ride.

I have to say that Ms. Halston delivered on the humor. The dialogue between Slade and Jessica and also between all the secondary characters was fun to read and I laughed so hard several times. I loved the secondary characters and look forward to their stories.

This book teetered on 3.5 to 4 stars for a good portion for me. The basic story line was too similar to the first one. An abusive ex who she runs from. Slade and Jack oddly both like to whisper similar naughty things in similar ways to their women... There was just a lot of similarities that I didn't care for.

However, the farther into the story I got the better it got and the more we learned about the actual characters themselves. The storylines then became quite different from then on. There were also points where the book would go from two weeks to three weeks then back to weeks as to how long it'd been since she'd been out of the hospital so that left me feeling a bit confused and wondering what was going on at points.

While I'm sure others found the bedroom scenes steamy, I found them lacking and almost dull at times as they were once again quite similar to the first story. Then again the dirtier and more detailed the better in my world.

All in all I would say it was a 4 star book and hope the next one is much different in terms of plotline and character development.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
