Odin Mondvalsen

30 books6 followers
Kasëm Trebeshina is an Albanian writer and dissident. Kasëm was born in Berat, Albania on 5 August 1926. He finishes elementary education in his birthplace and continues high-school in Elbasan. In the year of 1942 he joins the military in the National-Liberation war during which he was injured and had to stop his education temporarily. Kasëm was one of the voices of dissent during the post-World War II era in Communist Albania, voice which got him arrested three times and even falsely proclaimed by the oppressive regime as a madman. Kasëm has spent 17 years in prison.

All the oppressions Kasëm faced during his lifetime would fuel, influence and affect his literary work. After the infamous 1997 riot in Albania Kasëm flees from Albania and migrates to Istanbul, Turkey where he lived until he died in 2017.

His novell "Odin Mondvalsen" has been translated into German by Hans-Joachim Lanksch, published in Klagenfurt Austria in 1994. Most of his work was published after the fall of Communism, during the 1990s, which made him free to express his ideas in his works

Nje nga autoret e pare shqiptare qe solli surrealizmin ne letersi. Lexohet shpejt dhe kollaj. Analogjite kerkojne pak me shume kohe dhe background per tu kuptuar sic duhet.

Njani nder librat me interesant qe kam lexuar ne gjuhen shqipe. Kujtojme qe Trebeshina qe shfaqur si rebel ndaj sistemit te realizmit socialist te Enver Hoxhes dhe ne kete rast shkruan nje roman larg kesaj metodeje letrare, duke sjelle mos ta quajme risi, por opozicion ndaj ketij sistemi qe shume pak shkrimtare i kane mbijetuar!

- can appreciate it intellectually but didn’t really enjoy. did keep my curiosity however. had been interested to read this one since high school
- also started and finished in a single work day at my office
- i feel for every single person whose life was systematically destroyed by the communist regime for the most irrelevant reasons beyond their control 😔

This book is very interesting because is defined as having a surrealist character, precisely from the unusual deformities that are encountered in it. I want to read it so much!
