I haven't worked through any other training course-type books that I can compare this to, but it took me from zero to pretty-darn-productive including editing home movies, some fun greenscreen experiments, and completing my first short film including rudimentary colour correction. Lots of stuff in here I wouldn't have discovered by just plunging in and picking it up as I went (which I've done a lot with other software.)

Great book! Very thorough from cover to cover. I read the whole book and now I'll use it as a reference book.
