How much will Julian sacrifice to find the truth?

As he approaches the corner of Wendt and Brewster, Julian Barnes makes a bet with fate: if he can drive through the intersection without stopping, it will be a sign that he won’t lose Julia, the woman he loves.

But instead Julian wakes up in a hospital, his body shattered from a car accident he can’t remember. The prominent neurosurgeon who broadsided him swears his light was green. An eyewitness disagrees. A woman is dead, and the surgeon is accused of manslaughter.

A stranger warns Julian that if his memory returns and he tells anyone what really happened, Julia will die, too.

What don’t they want him to remember? Julian knows he got in the car an hour before the accident, on his way to see Julia. But then…nothing.

Why was he driving away from Julia’s apartment when the car hit him?

What did he see just before the impact?

Julian bears the weight of not knowing. His quest will take him to places he never expected, and to stories he never wanted to hear.

When Julian wakes up in the hospital, he finds that evidently he was in an awful auto accident. Evidently ... because he doesn't remember anything that happened. He discovers that a very prominent brain surgeon broadsided him .. only the doctor says his light was green. But there's a witness who says otherwise.

A woman passenger in the doctor's car is dead and the doctor is accused of vehicular manslaughter.

But that's only the beginning of his problems. The doctor's sister goes to Julian and offers him a million dollars to change his story. And then there's an anonymous man who sneaks into Julian's hospital room and threatens not only him, but his girlfriend with death if he remembers.

You know that phrase .. damned if you do, damned if you don't.

What exactly is it that he can't remember? And what does he know that has someone worried? The last thing he remembers is driving to his girlfriend's apartment .... yet when he was hit, he was headed in the wrong direction.

And does he really want to remember?

I can't imagine what it would be like to not be able to remember something that obviously is really important. I like that Julian turns to his brother for help. I found them to be engaging. I was not overly thrilled with the girlfriend. When you read the story, you will understand. I felt sympathy for the doctor ... but the doc's sister is manipulative and overbearing.

The story is well-written, suspenseful, and I had no idea of what was coming as I finished reading. I love being surprised.

Many thanks to the author / Conure Press / Netgalley for the digital copy of this novel. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

How much of our everyday lives do we actually have total control over, how much is actually controlled by fate.

Your life can be rolling along nicely and then BANG fate sticks its foot out and sends you bouncing down good old bad luck mountain.

Julian is having a good day,he has finally got tickets to Phantom Of The Opera and is on his way to surprise his girlfriend Julia when suddenly fate decides to intervene.Julian is broadsidded at a intersection by a prominent neurosurgeon and ends up in hospital in a lot of pain and suffering from a serious case of amnesia. The neurosurgeon insists the light was green,a eye witness disagrees,a woman died at the scene of the accident and the surgeon is being charged with manslaughter.

A stranger warns Julian that if he remembers anything his girlfriend will die,the surgeon`s creepy sister offers Julian a lot of money if he will say that his memory has returned.

Julian is trapped in fate`s twisted game, turn a card, throw a dice or flip a coin, whatever he decides he will be on the losing side.

This well written, intreguing little mystery is written in short sharp chapters that are not padded out with long descriptions and is a quick thrilling read.It does contain some court scenes but that only takes up a couple of chapters and is over quite quickly. The story contains a mixed bag of characters,I liked Julian`s interactions with his brother Tom and I liked Slattery eventually,he's a bit creepy and unlikable when he is first introduced into the story.

I'm glad I requested this book,I was hooked from the first page and really enjoyed the story.I will be keeping a eye out for more books by this author in the future.

Many thanks to publishers Conure press for a arc of this book via netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

I received an ARC in via netgalley exchange for an honest review.

Yeah, so this book wasn't good. I did finish but only because I wanted to see if my theory proved right. It did. The writing was not good. The story unfolded very...ADD like. It was just all over the place and there were parts included that just made no sense!!! I feel as if the author felt like the story wasn't long enough so he added just random bits of nonsense to fill in. Like does it really matter what restaurant they eat at?

The ending is rather dumb and the whole mystery was just so bizzare. I could say more but don't care enough. :-D

This book certainly kept me intrigued! I don't typically read who-dun-it mysteries but the cast of characters and the twists and turns kept me wanting to read more. I was certainly surprised when the truth was revealed.

The writing kept the flow going and was easy to read, and I enjoyed the author's choice to include the protagonist's dreams. Julian doesn't articulate a lot of his emotion, so it was helpful to have a window into his subconscious to let the reader understand how he was processing what was happening and what mattered most to him.

It's also on the shorter side, which I saw as a bonus. Nothing was dragged out or over-analyzed and tension was never lost as a result. I recommend it as a nice over-the-weekend read.

This was a really good read with good characters. Had me gripped from start to finish. Wasn't who I thought it was. 5*. Netgalley and ibpa.

It stops short,in some places which is annoying but bearable, the overall story was compelling, what i found interesting was how the author made some things that didn't matter highly detailed and things that did matter, hardly any detail. I am not sure if it was to keep the mystery or just a bad type up. The story its self is a good one if it weren't for that i my self would probably would have enjoyed it more.

The premise sounded intriguing and the novel did not disappoint. Once Julian wakes from a horrific accident, his nightmare just begins. There were some thrills and some suspense here and the tension carried throughout the novel as well as a few surprises along the way. I would say that some of the characters were solid and three dimensional and some were not so strongly developed, but the story was. I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I can't believe my eyes when I found this book. I read the synopsis and know that I have to read it right away. Amnesia ? Check. Accident ? Check. No reason not to read it right away.

Call me bias, but I love this type of story. I love the opening. Certainly not wasting time with the introduction. I just wish the story longer. I really like it. The story and characters are not perfect. But since I like it, they are perfect in my eyes. It was quite refreshing to read this story after reading many science fiction, crime thriller, action thriller, etc. The story revolved around Julian amnesia. He was allegedly run by famous neurosurgeon who insist the traffic was green at the intersection. The story make us keep wondering whether Julian really innocent or actually he is the one who is guilty. I love the addition of Slattery character. He is the one who make it more interesting. Otherwise, it would be quite boring.

The inclusion of court trial is also a nice bonus. I used to like court trial in legal thriller. But since usually it was too long, make me avoid legal thriller after some time. The story is quite short but to the point. There's no unnecessary scene. If I don't know better, I will think it was hybrid romance thriller because the lack of tension. Yes, there's the bad guy, but he's basically non existent after some time. The ending is sweet if the word is applicable. Anyway, cannot wait to read other story from Mr. Silvers.

Received this ebook in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

Wow Don't Remember takes you on a wild Ride!!! I'm not just talking about the car accident either, this book will give you so many emotional feels it's insane. You go through this whole emotional setting where you are trying to figure out what is happening in the book as Julian is trying to remember what happened to him the night of the accident. You think you have it all figured out, there is only a couple ways this ending can go right, Let me tell you I thought i had every scenario guessed already but boy was i wrong!! This book is so full of twists and turns it'll have you looking at the own people in your life wondering who you can and can not trust! There is so much suspense that you read so fast your eyeballs actually burn after you turn your ereader off! I read so fast I actually had to turn off the lights in my room and sit in the dark for a while for my eyes to adjust to life again ( and for my slight headache to go away) not sure that is a good advertisement for a book or not but that's how bad i needed to know what was going to happen at the end of the book!!

If you haven't got it yet I am telling you --- This is a VERY good read --- Stop reading my review and go read the book already !!!!!

A fast paced whodunit mystery with a noir feel. Lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing to the end. The editing is crisp, the characters developed, but they lack emotion. The pain is described in clinical detail, not painted. We (the reader) are told about the love between the main characters, but you don't feel it. The story starts out with similarities to the classic, 'The Rear Window', but then transitions into a more traditional mystery. Overall, a good read, but don't be looking for any graphic violence or love scenes to blow your socks off.

I received this via NetGalley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. I started out liking this book and then it started to seem a little forced, but then it would get better. It was really kind of like my life. Ups and downs but still a great ride. I did enjoy the story, I just wish it was a little more detailed and little bit longer.

2.5 stars. The characters could have been fleshed out more, particularly Julia, whose fate we were really supposed to care about. Her relationship with the MC, Julian (the name thing was cute at first and I thought might have some bearing on the story but ended up simply irritating), was shallow - we were told how much Julian loved her but saw no actual reason for him to do so. It left him looking like a fool and made his decisions hard to swallow. The ending left me saying 'WTF?' out loud.

Predictable but easy to read and finished in an hour or two.

The publisher provided me with the opportunity to read this in exchange for providing feedback. (via NetGalley)

Intriguing premise but the story felt kind of flat to me. I didn't really care for Julia as a character or for aspects of the Richard story line. (To avoid spoilers, I'll just say that I didn't like how it played out in the end.)

Great book!

Keeps you on your toes the entire time. Plenty of plot twists to make it even more interesting and keep you guessing. I especially liked the detectives character and would love to see more books with him.

The overall story was quite good although very predictable. The big downside for me was that I kept waiting for something to happen but it never did and then it just stopped! The ending could have been seen coming a mile away which killed all of the tiny bit of suspense that had been built.

Can’t say I can recommend this one but according to Goodreads I’m in the minority.

This book follows Julian, a man who gets in a car accident and wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the crash. Someone warns Julian that if he remembers something bad will happen to his girlfriend, Julia. But Julian is desperate to find out so he goes on a search to remember.

This book was fast paced and mysterious. I found it intriguing and well-paced and couldn't help but to keep turning the pages faster and faster. However, this book is very short. I felt like it made the story feel rushed at the end and I wanted more.

Overall I would recommend this book as a mystery-thriller to read to someone who enjoys the genre. It is short, but its also enjoyable for most of the book.

When I started reading Don't Remember, I had pretty high expectations. I didn't know what it was about, but that it was a short thriller, so I was excited. I have no idea what I was expecting, but there's no mistaking I was disappointed.

I couldn't connect with the characters, the romance was boring, and the plot was... I don't know how to describe it, it wasn't abd nor confusing, but it just didn't intrigue me. At all. Had this not been an ARC, I would have probably DNF'ed it. Though I hate not finishing books, I basically dragged myself all the way through.

As I've mentioned before, I'm horriblr at guessing and figuring things out when I read mysteries and thrillers. Like, really bad. This time, I would consider myself the best detective. The only thing I didn't guess was Cough's identity. Am I happy about it? No. The mystery was incredibly predictable and I wasn't shocked at times I was supposed to. If I, the worst mystery guesser the world has ever seen, was able to guess key plot-points in this novel, what will thriller conoisseurs think?

Obviously, everyone's reading experience is different. But what isn't about experience is the characters. There was a significant lack of character depth. It went straight to the point. Maybe other readers don't mind at all and actually love it when this happens, but I kind of hate it. Give me some back-story. Dig deep into the character's past. Make me understand why they made those choices. Julian and the rest of the characters weren't like that. The romance as well. Do I have a reason to beg for Alan Wright's mercy? Tell me something else besides him being the best neurosurgeon out there.

I know this isn't a romance. It's a thriller. But I couldn't help but expect more. It was SO flat. I want to understand how and why Julian was so crazy for Julia. What drove him to the point that he made that bet and almost died. Plus, their conversations were stilted basic. Do you really expect me to feel something about that. Don't even think about it.

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely. Who knows if those elements I disliked so much, someone else will end up loving. After all, I am not even close to being a thriller expert. But if you're looking for a heart-stopping thriller, maybe you should stay away, as you will probably end up being disappointed.

Thank you to Conure Press for providing me an ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review.
