One touch and I’m addicted. I need more, even if it ruins us both. I’m a man of honor. My chiseled body and rough exterior are just bonuses. I’m willing to put my life on the line for what I believe in. The Silver Star on my uniform proves that. But my desire for Lindsey puts everything in jeopardy. She’s filled with an innocence that threatens to ruin everything I’ve worked for. I’m an Officer—she’s an enlisted. The Army says we can’t be together. And as hard as it was to walk away last time, we got off easy at the Academy. Four years later, I know we shouldn’t get involved again. But the look in her beautiful eyes says everything I need to know. She wants me. And I sure as hell want her. Her tempting curves beg me to risk everything for her. But she’s been hiding something from me. She has a son. He has my eyes—he has my chin. And I realize I have something more important to take care of. I have a higher duty. Duty is a full-length romance with an HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.

Well then... I had high expectations for this story...like was really looking forward to it.
Let me just start off my saying I have nothing but the utmost respect for the men and women who fight for our freedom in this country.
And there is nothing I love more than a good, fictional story that involves any of the aforementioned, especially when we get an amazing love story out of it....
This had promise. The premise was on a straight line. Then the overabundance of army lingo COMPLETELY threw me off! It was just...everywhere. Then, the lack of romance between our H, Aaron and the h, Lindsey, just killed me. Their story only really made up 30% of the book. The rest was just an overload of information that did nothing but make me skip around until I could find some dialogue b/w the H and h.
I seriously tried...I hung through the end because there were a few times I felt like just saying screw it and moving on to something else.
I believe this story had promise, but it just went way off topic and all over the place.
4 Star Read: Among some of my favorites. Outstanding literary work. The characters are well developed, interesting. The liked characters are likable and the hated are unlikable. The writing is captivating enough to keep you interested until the end and leave you wanting more. It has a fairly original or uniquely well-developed plot. The pretense and romance were well balanced and done with properly distributed amounts of hints, behaviors, and chemistry. Not so much predictable if at all. Overall, loved it, I recommend reading!!

Aaron was a great man, who along his story learnt a few things about himself as a man and a Soldier.
Lyndsey a sweet girl, who met her man, while they were both in Training, in the Army, which is forbidden, but they actually made it work.
They were good people who both tried to do the right thing, thankfully love won out! even if others did their best to overturn their choices.
A great storyline and greatly developed character, with both Lundsey and Aaron growing through the story. I just loved little Lance, a sweetie from the off!
A great page turner with a heartfelt love story, but enough angst to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Whilsts its a fictional story, you can't but help to think about how a real situation this can be, from forbidden love to clandestine meetings and being deployed.
Military romance that starts with both main characters at Westpoint, Aaron is in officer training and Lindsey is enlisted fraternisation is against the rules (silly if you ask me since it is such a regular occurrence). Both like riding bikes both to keep fit and for pleasure, though Aaron also does it as part of Triathlon. Trying to keep a building relationship secret, at first not knowing that Lindsey is enlisted and against the rules they ride and meet away from the main compound. Promotion and careers mean separation and going in opposite directions for four years. I really felt for both characters, they fell in love but couldn't enjoy or show it. Forced to follow the rules laid down in what seems like ancient times is silly in this day and age, mixed sexes often serve together and you cant help attraction or who you fall in love with. Rules need updating to a more modern time. I know this is a story but even so these rules do exist and it makes me mad. Little Lance is so cute and adorable, I wanted to scoop him up for a cuddle. Meeting again and this time determined to work things out in some way, Brass interfere and Aaron is sent overseas. This is a story of love and struggle, pain and loss and above all the strength to fight back and find a way through it all to come out stronger and together. It is Military and has the ridged training as well as some action and fighting. But there are also some really sweet points, especially with Lance. Quite a lot of content and written with a nice flow that keeps you reading and wanting desperately for these two to find a way around the rules so they can be the family they are meant to be. Lauren has given us readers a great, interesting story with depth, rules and some facts about Military life I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I found this book on KU and I decided to give it a try. I don't normally jump toward military romances, and I figured this was just another bad-boy romance with a hero who just so happened to be in the military. Boy was I ever wrong! What this book was was a H/h who found each other but could not be together due to circumstance. I loved that nothing came easy for Aaron and Lindsay when it came to their HEA. They had to sneak around, separate when circumstances dictated, and buck the system, but they fought to be together no matter what the rules said. There were deployments and orders and a lot of separation (both chosen and forced.) They had obstacles and conflict, but they never swayed from the belief that they would end up together no matter what. This was a refreshing change for me, and was well worth the read.
A compelling story of forbidden love that captivates and intrigues you from start to finish. If you're looking for a really great story that is well-written, has good plot-line, surprising twists, sizzling sex scenes, secrets, love, and a HEA, then Duty is the book for you.
I voluntairly reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I enjoyed reading Duty - military secret baby romance. I found the beginning of the book a little slow but the author does a good job with the ending and kept the storyline between the characters exciting. Overall I enjoyed the book but I don't know much about the military or the ranks and found that confusing at times.
a bit too much military jargon I don't understand. and the romance just isn't there. she spent a lot of time (whole first half of book) establishing the relationship prior baby. And after baby it was a lot of hiding. It seemed like a story of hardship more than a romance novel.
It is an alternating person story told by Aaron, an Army Cadet at West Point and Lindsey, a PFC stationed at West Point that met riding bicycles. Follow their story of the trails of ups and downs of not only starting a relationship but starting a forbidden relationship that is fraternization since Aaron is studying to be an officer and Lindsey is an enlisted PFC (Private First Class). Now this rule is not just for West Point but on every military post.
But Aaron and Lindsey fall in love and continue to see each other being very careful not to get caught being together. Then Lindsey finds out she is being promoted and transferred and Aaron is going to Ranger school. They break up knowing they can’t do the long-distance relationship since Aaron still had 2 more years of school plus 5 years after graduating left on his contract.
Over 4 years go by and then it happens they both get transferred to Fort Bragg, but the only difference now is that Lindsey has a 3 ½ year old son. They both run into each other at the store and Aaron notices that Lindsey’s son Lance looks a lot like him.
So now you have the bases of the story. Now do they overcome the military way and can become a family? Maybe, if so there is a long road to get there. A lot happens before they can become that family.
I love reading Lauren Landish’s books. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I downloaded this book early morning hours and read it all day long and finished it in one day time. It will make you laugh and it will make you cry, this is a real page turner.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and found it to be an amazing story that drew me in from the first page and I was totally captivated until the last page was turned. What you will find in this book is: a enlisted young woman (Lindsey), a young male cadet (Aaron), drama, intrigue, a forbidden affair, transferred, breaking up, sadness, heartache, unplanned pregnancy, a new post, a chance meeting, discovery, realization, explanations, rules and regulations, a captains revenge, deployment, a video call, attacked, injuries, sent home, lust, emotional feelings, love and erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and is exceptionally well written. The characters are well developed with personalities and have feelings of lust, needs and desires. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a well written Military Themed Secret Baby Romance with a HEA, you will not be disappointed.
Duty. Honor. Country. Words every West Point cadet memorized. Words every soldier believes in. Words to live by and more.
This latest novel by Lauren Landish is absolutely stellar. With her well crafted storyline and her heart-wrenching characters, this book reaches in and plucks at your heartstrings from the beginning.
Speaking from experience, I can tell you that if you marry a military man--enlisted or officer--your life is not your own. You marry the military along with the woman or man. Lauren's description of all the rules and regulations is spot on. "No Fraternization" is still alive and well in all branches of the military.
But in this beautifully done story of Aaron and Lindsey, love does find a way...they "stayed the course" and love won the day. Keep tissues handy...you're going to need them! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.)
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book loved it so much great story and the characters are great Lindsey is a Officer in listed in the armed forces and she meets Aaron and falls in loved they have a wild night and she breaks it off for Aaron because it is a no no for her to fraternize with a another in the armed forces Lindsey finds out she is being promoted and transferred and Aaron is going to Ranger school so they meet after a few years and she was pregnant and he sees the baby that has his eyes and features and he is going to keep them no matter what loved this great read and wonderful love story. I love military books. Sometimes they are over my head, because I don't get the acronyms, but this book was an easy read and explained very well. When you have to be separated by rank and office, when the government has rules, it can be devastating. This book is no different. Aaron ands Lindsey loved each other... There was no hiding that, but their love was torn but duty. Duty, honor, country... Those are the words live by in the Army, so when secrets are hidden because of this duty, worlds are split.
This book explained a lot, but truly shows what it means to fight for what is meant to live for.
I honestly had no idea the restrictions the army had when it came to relationships amongst its officers! Aaron & Lindsey had such brief moments together at the beginning but their bond was unquestionable! After all the years apart they stayed true to one another instinctively.
When they meet again, it seemed their duty for their country will be forever against their favour but they persevere and let nothing risk their love & family.
At times I didn't totally understand the lingo or abbreviations but that didn't stop me from enjoying this book. 👍👍
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book! This is a great military romance storyline. Aaron is an officer in the arm, and Lindsay is enlisted. This is a forbidden romance, despite the chemistry they have between them. This story is full of twists and turns, and complexity, which keep the reader captivated and intrigued throughout. Wonderful story Lauren as always! I recommend this authors work for all readers.
A military romance of the best sort. I have enjoyed the romance that couldn’t be between Aaron, a cadet and Lindsey, an enlisted they were not meant to be together but there was a pull they neither of them could fight. They were in too deep but could they get out. They knew that their romance was to be kept a secret at all cost. But time and circumstances pushed them together. They knew then that they were destined and would do all that they can to stay together and secret.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book*
I love Lauren Landish's writing and this was not a disappointment. This was a gentle read, with a lot of background army related info that made the story of Aaron believable.
Overall a great little read. (I review hard so a solid 3.5 stars from me is good!)
I seriously enjoyed this story. The story plot and character were realistic and entertaining enought to keep me interested. Aaron and Lindsey are wonderful characters and their story is one of first and second chance love. Lance is a cute character and I like how the epilogue showed a few years later so we get to see how they really ended up. Well done to the author.
I thoroughly enjoyed this 4 star read. It can qualify as a second chance romance as they didn’t want to break up but had to and got back together.
Aaron and Lindsay are in the service and it’s against the rules to be together so they sneak around and bike ride. Then Lindsay does what she has to do and leaves him. When she finds out she’s pregnant she decides not to share the info with Aaron.
Duty by Lauren Landish is a military romance that has lots of twists and turns where rules are broken and Aaron and Lindsey have so many odds stacked against them but love wins out. This book does have a HEA and so worth reading.
A wonderful story about 2 that are forbidden to love. They overcome it all as it comes, but is it enough to keep them together? You will just need to read it to find out. A really great and well written book about forbidden love. I loved it.
The premise seemed promising but was a struggle to finish. So much military jargon was used it took away from the story and at times this civilian was lost and confused.
I've read book by this author before which I enjoyed and will continue to do so. This one was not for me.
I volunteerly read and reviewed an advance readers copy of this book. I really enjoyed this book. I liked the storyline a lot and the characters very likeable. This book was very well written.
