Desperate to pay the rent, Broadway star wannabe Poppy McGuillicuddy is the middle of DJ-ing a Halloween party when a mishap with a cat named Calamity changes her life forever. Suddenly, she's a familiar-as in, a witch's familiar. Or in her case, a warlock's. Even more specifically, a gorgeous warlock . . . who wants nothing to do with her. Thank God for the ladies from OOPs, who've promised their help as Poppy navigates her accidental paranormal powers. Despite his last familiar leaving him bitter and disillusioned, warlock Rick Delassantos still isn't heartless. He's agreed to give Poppy a few days before contacting Familiar Central and demanding she be reassigned elsewhere. But barely a day is all it takes for Poppy to become the target of some seriously bad magic, forcing Rick to keep her close to ensure her safety. Not exactly a hardship, when his new familiar is as sexy as she is sassy. With help from Marty, Nina, Wanda, and assorted other OOPs friends, Rick and Poppy learn some important lessons-fate works in mysterious ways; things aren't always as they seem; and sometimes the worst evil can be found close to home.

Review will be posted at www.books-n-kisses.com . NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 Poppy is great! I enjoyed her interaction with Calamity, it had my laughing my butt off. That is one of the best things about the Accidental series is the humor that Ms. Cassidy puts into each story. Rick is great after you get to know him. The two of them together were wonderful. Of course when you add in Marty, Wanda, Nina and the rest of the OOPS family you have another wonderful story. I always love picking up one of the Accidental stories. I always know that I am going to get a fun, humor filled and a show of true friendship. I can’t wait to see what is next in this series.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Dakota Cassidy in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.
Cassidy's new book is funny and entertaining. Though it moves a little slower than some of her earlier. I still enjoyed it and look forward to reading her next title.
I love this book! It has become my favorite Dakota Cassidy book to the point that I re-read it every year right before Halloween. This is the classic grumpy vs. sunshine, enemies to lovers, feel good romance mixed with some crazy & funny paranormal happenings and fellow characters.
Nina, Marty & Wanda are once again available as the OOPS ladies to help Poppy navigate her way through having become a witch's familiar. And the cause of this particular accident is Nina's familiar named Calamity. As a familiar, Poppy needs a witch to be connected with but unfortunately, for Poppy she is matched with Rick, a warlock, who is less than happy about the whole situation (he had some issues with his last familiar). However, he makes a deal to give her a trial period. The story gets intense when Poppy is targeted by something very evil. Thanks to the OOPs ladies, Rick and some other paranormal characters Poppy has a good chance of surviving all this craziness.
Dakota Cassidy never disappoints with her characters, the storyline, all things funny about these paranormal situations. And there is always romance - the sweetest kind even when the reader knows it is coming.
I recommend ALL the Accidental series books, but this is my favorite and I HIGHLY recommend giving it a read!
I was so excited to get back to this series after listening to the last one. Its always a fun time catching up with the Oops ladies and see what trouble they can cook up. We get into this one by meeting Poppy who becomes a familiar in a unique way and then has to learn to navigate her new life. Poppy was another new addition to the group and was so fun and hilarious. I loved her story and how she started working for her new charge. Rick was an interesting character and I could understand his hesitation to open up to Poppy after what he went through. I'm glad he at least was willing to give her a chance.
We learn so much in this series and find out some twists that I didn't see coming but loved that Poppy knew something was up from the start. I love that she was so willing to relie on her instincts and let them guide her in the right location. We even got to catch up and see a few characters that haven't been around in a while and I really missed them. Overall this was another great listen and I loved meeting the new characters. Once again the narrator did an amazing job and made it such an enjoyable and fun listen.
I have not read the previous 4 books leading up to this, and there was no lead in as an ongoing saga of series would generally have to guide the reader, so I was genuinely baffled in the first couple of chapters and almost quit this insane confusion. However, I pressed on and forged ahead, to my delight. Ridiculously funny, I was thinking it would be a good read for a 13 year old until the detailed steamy sex, to graphic for that age Group. Enjoyable read, but I recommend reading the series from book one.
So much cussing right off the bat. I hadn’t listened or read one of her books in a while so I didn’t remember. I think the unnecessary arguing to make comedy was actually the turn off, yet I kept on. I wanted something light to listen to. This book tried to carry too much. It felt like a light paranormal romance but it was trying to be all rainbows and flowers. Hahaha 🤪 There was an interesting story but too fast with too many side stories or morals/fables thrown in.
This novel was the most fun to read and the storyline was totally unexpected. Dakota Cassidy is a wonderful author. This book has it all - excellent crafting, clever plotting, a brilliant cast of characters, a descriptive setting, romance, paranormal, mystery, and humor. I highly recommend this novel.
What a hoot. A laugh out loud wonderfully funny book. Love the way this author writes, love the dialogue, love the characters and plot. A great read - and you can jump write in here, you wont miss too much if you hadnt read from book one.
Funny and fast paced. Her turn off phrases were fresh and quirky. Laughed out loud in several places. Only one concern that her alluded to's are too based in pop culture and in a few years, as we saw with Disney's Aladdin, won't be relevant anymore, and lose there zing.
Dakota... I can't read one of these accidental stories without laughing out loud at least a few dozen times! I love the characters and the world you've created!! Looking forward to the next one!
This talented author has once again provided hours of a light hearted interesting read/ listen. These characters are written to come to life in your imagination. Great escape read!
I really enjoyed everything about this book except for Nina. I found her very annoying. This is only my second book I've read in this series, so I'm hoping she will grow on me.
The two main characters were awesome, and I liked the storyline. The cat familiar was adorable.
One of my favorite series! The characters are amazing, so well written, and freaking hilarious! Dakota is a great author! I highly recommend checking this series out!
Poppy Mcgillicuddy is DJIng at a Halloween party when something really strange happens which culminates in her sitting in her friends garden having a conversation with a cat. Calamity the cat is also Ninas new familiar and persuades Popply to call the OOPS helpline as she has accidentally been transformed into a witch/warlords familiar. So begins another visit to the world of Nina Marty and Wanda as well as all the friends they have made over the course of the series. Poppy is a great character she and Rick ( her warlock) have a great chemistry as well as some really funny dialogue. At first Rick isn't at all keen on having a familiar but Poppy soon begins to wheels her way into his heart. Unfortunately as ever there are evil deeds afoot, Poppy can feel something had is coming but has no idea what and sharing her feelings with Rick is a problem she to his trust issues but things are coming to a head and if they want to survive they will have to work together.
