The magnetism of Martin Luther King Jr. (Law #9) . . . Cicero's ability to captivate an audience with his eloquence (Law #5) . . . the connection Will Rogers made with the common man (Law #10) . . . all of these leaders were using the 21 Laws of Leadership long before John Maxwell ever put pen to paper. Through enlightening discussion, author James Garlow illustrates how these 21 key principles have been at work throughout history. Learn from the great General Robert E. Lee why the Law of Respect is so important when leading men into battle. Let the story of the Donner Party's failed expedition demonstrate the significance of the Law of Navigation. Learn from church leader John Wesley how the Law of Process kept his converts steady in their faith while others floundered. These laws have been tested by history; now test them for yourself.
Jim Garlow is an American evangelical leader, author, and former Senior Pastor of Skyline Church in La Mesa, California. Known for his outspoken political activism and theological conservatism, Garlow has played a prominent role in efforts to influence public policy from the pulpit, particularly through his leadership in the "pulpit freedom" movement. He was instrumental in mobilizing religious support for California’s Proposition 8 and later served as chairman of Renewing American Leadership, a nonprofit founded by Newt Gingrich. A frequent commentator on social and political issues, Garlow advocates for a return to what he calls “authentically biblical” Christianity and has urged evangelicals to abandon the term “evangelical” altogether. He has controversially equated political disengagement among Christians with moral failures of the past and maintains that biblical values must guide political decisions. He has publicly supported Donald Trump and collaborated with figures like Glenn Beck, despite criticism over interfaith alliances. In addition to his activism, Garlow has authored numerous books, including the New York Times best-seller Cracking DaVinci’s Code. He holds advanced degrees from Drew University, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Asbury Theological Seminary, and has served as a professor at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Following the death of his first wife, Carol, in 2013, Garlow married Rosemary Schindler in 2014. Together, they have a blended family of eight children and nine grandchildren.
John C. Maxwell delivered. Great book, I'm very interested in the topic of leadership and this was recommended to me as one of the must-read books, I'm gonna give it 5 stars because it was very understandable and easy to read. After reading I've searched and found a great summary of all 21 laws at http://files.hospitalu.com/Media/Lead... to use as a reminder. Check it out!
21 lessons of leadership: lessons from leaders in all regards of life and history. It is the sum of small decisions that builds character and life. Who people listen to is the leader. The law of solid ground. The importance of integrity In leadership. Author is a preacher so it’s Christian focused. A variety of good examples showcasing people from history and how they influenced and changed the world through their leadership.
If you want to read about the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, just buy the Maxwell book. This volume adds little to Maxwell's work. Each chapter is a restatement of Maxwell's law and supporting principles with cherry-picked examples from history randomly scattered throughout.
I enjoyed Maxwell's observations from the worlds of business, politics, sports, religion, and military conflict. The result is a revealing study of leadership delivered as only a communicator like Maxwell can.
