Tristen has never lost anything because he’s never had anything. An orphan since age 4, he was passed from home to home miserably. He had never felt love and as a senior in high school didn’t think he ever would. He accepted that long ago and lived his life with thrill, no rules and freedom. Zoey on the other hand has everything to lose. A junior in high school she has things to prove, especially to her parents. She made one bad decision that led to many others sending her into a downward spiral. Her life had become rule after rule and regretfully she had to accept it. When their two worlds collide they have to learn acceptance, forgiveness alongside how to make it through the utmost misfortune. And they might discover love in the midst of losing it. Is it worth it to love someone with the reality of the possibility of losing it?
Wow I can't wait for you all to read this. I'm not a fan of ya but this is story has touch on my heartstrings the first part of it really hit home for me... It's a beautiful written story very emotional there's not one emotion you won't feel while reading this story. I was so angry at times my heart broke there's a lot of anguish. It about sacrifice, coming of age, and the bad choices we make as teenagers but with all this it's what makes us we are today.
Zoey is your average teenager she on the cheer team but some might not see what struggles take place at home. She has to grow up quickly. She is faced with death of a loved one. Falls for the wrong boy but what teenager hasn't. Zoey is strong and deeply struggling with emotions. Brooklyn has poured her emotions into Zoey character and has portrayed her in a realistic fashion.
My heart broke for Tristan he has suffered a great deal from early age has a teenager he is still struggling and with the choices he has made come with heavy consequences. Tristan finds the courage to turn his life around and comes full circle.
I can't say enough of the Epilogue it was perfect it full filed my heart with so much joy I was so happy it left me smiling. Zoey and Tristan story shows us the struggles that no teenager should have to go through but also shows you that when thrown in those circumstances don't let them define you live your life to the fullest and smile often. I have read this author before but this one is different she truly has shined and found her niche with this one. It's about second chances we all deserve one
***I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review***
I was given Losing You to read and review, and I have to say that this is why I don’t read YA. The reason I say that is because teenagers are annoying, and Brooklyn Taylor got that exceptionally right.
The drama and the interaction between the parents and the children are exactly how relationships should be, as they are often volatile and frustrating.
In the end though, the book showed exactly how much love there was between the parents and the children and reminded us all how you should always love your parents, no matter what happens. Even when you are angry and blame them for things going badly in your life.
Losing You is about two teenagers who have gone down different paths, and although they don’t seem like they’d fit, they do.
The relationship between Tristen and Zoey is sweet and young, and the drama between all the young people is very reminiscent of my high school experience. That is how you know you got a winner.
In the end they win and Zoey and Tristen end up happy, and that is all you can ever ask for in a sweet story. You always root for them to work out, and even if they are young, they can still love maturely and deeply as well as any adult.
Zoey Fuller, average girl that falls for the wrong boy and he destroys her in the process and then ultimately changes her for the worst. Strong willed and wanting to fix what she broke Zoey sets out to be different and in doing so finds so much more in the form of another person that she least expected.
Tristen Brady, very private person and rightfully so. Having come from very a hard and disturbing past he does what he can to keep it private from everyone because he doesn't want pity. Everything is working out how it should until one night when he encounters a girl he has seen at school then it changes and takes him down a road he never thought he wanted.
This story was tough to read for me, not because of Tristan's struggles but because of Zoey's. What she goes through is almost a mirror to my family and it literally hurt to read and have her go through that process because it is terrible and not something I would wish on anyone. I wont give out any spoilers but it is tough if you can connect to both of the hard subjects that are in this book, because it will pull at you.
Brooklyn is a author for me and it was an eye opening book that's for sure and i will look for more of her books because the knowledge and emotions that came out of this one was amazing.
Can I just say, YA romance is definitely Brooklyn Taylor's niche. Losing You was fantastic and offered up all the feels. In fact, I was an emotional mess the last 10-15% of the book!
Zoey and Tristan each struggle with receiving and giving love, but for different reasons. Both guarded, both harboring secrets, these two share a connection that nobody else their age understands. They both are forced to grow up way to soon and both have unseen scars from their pasts that have directly shaped their lives currently.
I found Zoey extremely relatable. She is the epitome of every teenage girl. She feels strongly and deeply, and Taylor did a fantastic job of portraying her teenage angst in a realistic manner.
Tristan, my heart breaks for him. He suffered through pain and almost succumbs to it, but finds the strength to turn his life around. Once he sees the light, he is rewarded his full circle moment.
The epilogue warmed my heart and left me smiling from ear to ear as you are able to see how Zoey and Tristan really took life's lemons and turned them into lemonade. I really enjoyed this story and feel like this is Taylor's best work yet.
I received this book as an ARC. Thank you Brooklyn. I was nervous because the first few chapters hit close to home, but this book was super sweet. It deals with young love, heartbreak, growing up too quickly, and death. More than a teenager should have to experience, but the norm for many kids these days. Tristen and Zoey's story is beautiful and I loooooved the epilogue. Perfect ending!!
I absolutely love to read YA books. In fact, I go through spells where that’s all I will read for months on end. I also recently read Brokenhearted by Brooklyn Taylor, which I absolutely loved. Therefore, when I found out Brooklyn was writing a new YA novel, I knew I had to get my hands on it.
The main characters of this story had lives that were truly heartbreaking at times. They have never had it easy and every day feels like a constant struggle for them. The lives of teenagers are hard enough without family issues to pile up on top of it. The way Brooklyn wrote about these teens and their trials and tribulations was so amazingly realistic and it was hard to not grab for a box of tissues.
Zoey is a sweet miss goody two-shoes, that is until she falls for the ultimate bad boy. After meeting, Evan, she starts sneaking out of the house and makes serious, horrible, changes to her personality.
Tristan has been an orphan since age 2. Since then he has been forced to play ping-pong through foster homes, continually getting into trouble, and is now trying to find his place in the world and find the love he has yet to feel from anyone.
The romance between Zoey and Tristan is difficult, sweet, and full of emotion. They both have a very hard time showing how they are feeling and an even harder time accepting that someone else could love them.
This was a heartwarming read that I could connect with on many different levels.
Grateful to have received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Someone told me to write from the heart and sometimes its easier said then done. This is my second book that I have read from this author. This author knows how to draw me into her writing style and its easy to do. okay know my review of this emotional book.
The character that I can be drawn on is Zoey because Zoey has taken on alot of the house hold responsibilies while her dad is out on the road driving a semi-truck and Zoey's mom is in bed. Being a 16 year old girl she shouldnt have to worry about taking care of her sister or her mom but when her mom came down sick Zoey had taken on everything to help her family out. Being a 16 year old girl or even boy for that matter Zoey should enjoy her life being that age once she turns into an adult being a teenager stops then she would have to make adult decisions.
who does Evan think he is, it seems that he wants Zoey but Zoey wants Tristen. If Evan would have never turned Zoey into what she hated then she would have stayed with him. I think Zoey being with Tristen is a good match. with her mom dying Tristen can help her though it. Tristren has his own problems but I do not think Zoey would hold anything against him. Melissa just needs to leave Tristren's past just the way it is because its up to Tristren to tell Zoey about his past and when he is ready. Wow, I truly didn't accept that in the book that Zoey and Tristen got married, that's awesome.
this is a first read for me by Brooklyn taylor but wow oh wow, this book gave me so many feels abd emotions. i loved zoey and tristen so much. what a great young adult story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
Life can be hard, most people know this fact. For some people life can be almost unbearable because of the cards they are dealt. This is the case for Zoey and Tristen. Complete strangers, Zoey and Tristen have had to face tremendous pain and adversity in their lives.
For Zoey, she has had a life with a father who is rarely around because of his chosen life’s work. Her mother has shown Zoey and her sister the highest and lowest points of motherhood. At times she was a beautiful, well put together mom, at others she was a horrible alcoholic. Now Zoey and her family have to contend with the life-altering results of her mother’s alcoholism, her mother’s illness. Zoey also had to contend with the fallout of dating someone her parents disliked and changed her as a person. Ultimately, the guy betrayed her in the worst possible way and left her bitter and heartbroken.
Tristen’s life started out idea. He had two loving parents but then at the tender age of four his world was shattered when they perished. Tristen spend time with a neighbor close to the family before being adopted into a home that was less than ideal. Tristen had to face a life where he never had enough of anything; he never had enough love, affection, warmth (literal), clothing, even food. He turns to dating many girls and satisfying physical urges, as well as working to try to survive his life.
When Zoey and Tristen meet there is an undeniable connection. There is a fear, a fear of getting close and giving in. There is a fear of opening up to one another. If Tristen reveals his deepest secrets about his life will Zoey turn on him? If Zoey opens up her heart again will Tristen betray her like her ex?
I enjoyed the fact that Brooklyn made both of these characters relatable, real, weak, and strong. I absolutely fell in love with Tristen’s character. Despite the hardships he faced in his life he still had an incredible heart. I like how Zoey handled her mom’s illness. She was very real in all of the emotions one deals with when we are losing someone so very close to us.
I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a sweet book. It has its sad moments as well.
Zoey was a cheerleader in high school who fell hard for her first love. I mean didn't we all think our first love was the greatest and most epic? Well just like Zoey we realize we were wrong. Evan was a snake. A young boy using his charms. While nursing her broken heart, she learns her mom is sick.
One fateful night on a bus, she meets Tristan, who also goes to her school. Tristan is a foster kid. He has done so much wrong because he feels he is just a bad person. He dates and I use that term loosely a string of easy girls. Melissa was one of those girls. She also plays a pivotal role in Zoey and Evans demise. Tristan immediately knows Zoey is different and the one for him.
This book isn't without its share of drama. At times I became frustrated because these characters were so immature. Then I had to remind myself I wasn't worldly and smart at 17.
It has a good message that we should never judge someone because we are all going through something. The story was good and was wrapped up nicely in a pretty epilogue bow. I'm happy for Zoey and Tristan.
4.5 Stars Tiffany This is an amazing story of loss and love. A boy who hasn't had anything since he lost his parents at the age of four. He's never felt love like he should have. He never followed rules. He loved to play fast and loose, until he met her. A girl who's made mistakes, trusted the wrong people. Now she must live to care for her sick mom. Her life revolves around rules and responsibility and she has no choice but to accept it. Tristen and Zoey connected on such a deep level. You could feel the the draw and growing feelings between them. She knows nothing of his past, what he thinks he is or what he's had to endure. He doesn't let anyone in. If people know that you're an orphan, it gives them ammunition against you. Zoey made some horrible decisions she thought were for love. She doesn't have a problem opening up to those very close to her, and she felt the need to talk to Tristen. I loved how he helped her deal with her feelings towards her mom and their situation. While they're complete opposites, I think they make the perfect pair. This was a beautiful story. I was in awe of the connection these characters had. In a lot of ways, they were far more mature than a lot of adults in their situations would be. It was amazing that they didn't let others come between them much. The strength and resilience of both Tristan and Zoey was inspiring. Everyone should have just a fraction of the strength these two do. This is my first book from this author and she pulled at my emotions. I hurt and cried for them, and rejoiced in the amazing people they turned themselves into. Thank you Brooklyn for writing such an awesome inspiring story!

Both come from different worlds but love for life and understanding the crappy things each other was dealt, brings them together in such a Saweet love story!!
I just really fell in love with both Tristen and Zoey. Both of their stories broke my heart and you could really feel the pain while reading this book. And while reading you follow their journey and see how sometimes in life you just have to take lemons and make it into lemonade!!!
I gave this book 5 Stars for Losing You. I really enjoyed reading this story Brooklyn and by the way I love...love this cover!!! It is sooo sweet just like the book!! : )
Losing You by Brooklyn Taylor is a story of two teenagers from very different backgrounds who come together, forge a friendship that later turns into a romance where they each learn something about themselves and change their outlook on their lives. Zoey has a difficult home life due to her mother's illness; an illness that keeps her from truly being a teenager as she has to act as caregiver due to her mostly absent father who is away working. Tristan has been in one foster home or another since his parents death when he was 4. while he has been with Mrs. Reynolds the longest, he has this feeling of abandonment and worrying about the future, and not the future that most teenagers think about, but the immediate future of where he will live when he turns 18.
What Tristan and Zoey don't realize is that they have so much to learn about themselves and each other but the most important thing that they learn is to forgive. Forgive the things in their lives that upset them, but also forgiving themselves for the things that they have done in the past. this story will pull on your heartstrings and have you shedding a tear or two while also having you hope that they will be able to get past the things that hold them back from truly being happy.
Zoey and Tristen two young adults that have experience so much for their teenage years. Get ready to be taken to one of the most emotional love story you have ever read.
Zoey has taken the role of mother figure to her younger sister while taking her of her mother. Tristen has seen the worse in people since he was four years old when his parent die in a car accident. This two have so much pain in their hearts that only someone with lots of love of them will help them heal their wounded souls.
The roller coaster that this two take you will leave you emotional drain but I will not expect any other way. With each word is read you will feel each and every emotion Zoey and Tristen face. Not only their pain but the love for each other as well. At the end of this book not only will you feel sorry for them you will also feel happy to see how they find the right path for their future.
If you love YA and are looking for a book to cuddle then this is the book for you. You will not be disappointed on the contrary you will become an instant fan of Brooklyn Taylor. I guarantee it.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This was such a lovely story above love and loss, tremendous loss that breaks your heart. Tristen and Zoey have gone through so much heart ache in their young lives but are able to find solace and comfort in each other.
Tristen becomes an orphan at age 4 and is bounced from foster home to foster home which is something he keeps secret from everyone around him. Zoey's home life is chaotic due to alcoholism. She is also burned by the first guy she believes she's in love with which leaves her a bit guarded. The meet on a bus after Zoey's crushing betrayal by her ex and are drawn to each other. About a year later, they reconnect and as they are moving toward a closer relationship, people conspire against them and try to break them apart. Will they succeed?
This story is so emotionally charged. Plenty of times I found myself ugly crying as situations unfolded and secrets deeply guarded were revealed. The only problem I had with the story and to me it was a pretty big one, is Tristen's father and I will say no more so as to not ruin it for anyone. I'll just say that I did not get that! Why??? You have to read it, I can't tell you.
All in all a very good read. I would recommend it.
Tristan and Zoey's story touched my soul not just my heart my soul. The things these two went through is so real to life. This really happens in the world on a daily basis. Alcoholism is nothing to play with as you see Zoey's mom recovered in a way but never fully recovered. Orphans are near and dear to my heart. I don't see it often but was also bullied in school for what my clothes looked like. I came from a poor family so I can relate to Tristan in a small way. This book had me feeling all kinds of emotions . I was so angry in the beginning because of Zoey's situation and then I grew to love her mom. I was confused several times and then realized these are high school students and I was the same way with the flip flop whether or not I wanted to do this or that. But most I cried. I'm talking ugly cry fest. I had my 3 year old ask me mommy why are you crying. I would highly recommend this book to someone who loves young love. Tristan and Zoey will always be in my heart. Although I'd love to know more about Rachel ♡

Losing You has been one of the most emotional and relatable books I have read in a very long time… Both Zoey and Tristan have a very hard time showing emotions.. they struggle with having someone show them love but struggle even more giving love to someone else… They both grew up too fast and did not get to enjoy their childhood as any other children… carrying battle scars in their hearts all the way into their teenage years… Zoey is what I would refer to the typical teenage girl.. trying to find herself… she has strong feelings and she stands by them.. I shared this story with my 15 yo daughter and she said she could relate with Zoey a lot… Tristan carries a lot of hurt and pain in his heart but somehow manages to turn his life around.. finding the culmination of his life…
This was the first book I have read by Brooklyn Taylor and I must say I look forward for more… I am even more happy to report that my daughter has requested to read more of this spectacular author…

All I have to say is “WOW!” This author absolutely did a beautiful job. Absolutely LOVED this book!! Highly recommend!! Everything hit right at home. Everyone has different stories, different backgrounds, different struggles, different tragedies, so always remember do not judge until you know the whole story.
My favorite line is in Chapter 9, “Many people would be thankful just to have a mother in their life. That isn’t something you should take for granted… and you know… we are all human. We make mistakes…
In Losing You, there are two main characters; Zoey and Tristen.
Zoey’s mom is a living alcoholic since Zoey was six.

Zoey is your sweet innocent do gooder...that is until she falls in love with the bad boy that ultimately had her sneaking out, lashing out against her parents, and changing who she was as a person.
Tristan has been an orphan since age 2. bounced through the foster system, always getting into trouble, struggling to find his place in the world and the acceptance and love he's missed out on.
Zoe and Tristan meet on the night that Zoe has her heart broken from said bad boy. it isn't until later that they meet again through mutual friends. they both have scars from their past that are hard to let go of but watching their journey unfold is so incredibly heart warming! definitely a must read❤
Losing You is probably Brooklyn Taylor's best book to date. Tristan and Zoey come from very different backgrounds but both have seen far too much pain than they should have. My heart broke for them and the struggles they had faced in their young lives. Sharing a connection nobody else understands, despite being an unlikely pairing, Zoey and Tristan are drawn to each other. I love how Brooklyn Taylor writes their blossoming relationship, it is sweet, young love and just how it should be. Zoey and Tristan both have to learn to let their guard down and make the most of what life has given them. Losing You is a great Young Adult book and Brooklyn Taylor really captures the heart with this one.
I received an ARC of Losing You in exchange for an honest review.
This is by far my favorite of this author's books, and that's saying a lot since I love all of Ms. Taylor's works. It is a YA book but they characters deal with so many adult situations in such a poignant way. Tristen and Zoe have both been through the wringer and don't trust anyone. They soon learn they can lean on each other, and although they will be tested they can overcome anything, together. This story touched me on another level, past the love story aspect. It touched upon my personal relationship with my mom, and the emotional after effects that still haunt me to this day. I don't want to say more than that as to give spoilers away but will say to have tissues on hand. Wonderful job, Ms. Taylor!
Omg. Totally epic storyline. Zoey and Tristen both have their own secrets relating to family issues but on different sides of the spectrum. They both find it difficult to give and receive compliments or love. I really don't want to put too much in my review except the fact that everyone needs to read this book. Brooklyn Taylor definitely does NOT disappoint. Hew writing style is amazing. I will advise to have the tissues to hand for the last 10-20% as you are taken an emotional roller coaster ride. The emotion that's been written into this book and the way it's been done is phenomenal. Enough said now go buy this book. I promise you'll love every minute of it.
I voluntarity Review an Advance Reader Copy of this book for Hot Box Reviews OMG I love this book this is a new author to me and her writing style is awesome the story line and charcters makes you feel like you are right there with them and you feel what they are feeling or that's how I feel and at times I was mad and then happy so she had me from the first page until the last page. I gave this book five stars. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read and review your book Brooklyn Taylor you are awesome
Losing You is a high school romance book. The plot is based around 2 teens who have struggles throughout their lives but do what they can to get through another day. Zoey, being responsible for things most teens could never imagine, and Tristan, an orphan who has never really felt love, have their worlds collide. Could they find love?
This was a tough read for me b/c I felt it was depressing. Though a fast read, I thought the ending could have been stronger. I would recommend this to a younger generation, not someone in their 30's or older.
Losing You by Brooklyn Taylor....Wow, this is a beautiful written story that will pull on your heartstrings. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster, with all the ups and downs, but it was well worth the read. Tristen and Zoey both have had terrible childhoods and are broken teenagers. When these two find each other and start dating they make each other whole again. You will fall in love with these fantastic characters. This is one book that you will want to read and you will also fall in love with this authors storytelling. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this story and was glad to be given the opportunity to read it. This was an emotional & heartbreaking read. I really loved how they both had hard lives in different ways but ended up together and seemed to connect and help each other deal. I could relate to a lot of this story, sadly but even if you can't it is still a really great story. If you enjoy YA reads about Loss & Love then make sure to pick up a copy of one of Brooklyn's newest books. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
this is a heart breaking story from the start, the characters lives were just heart breaking. A very emotional read. This is a YA book. The characters deal with very adult situations through out the book. The author has a fab way of bringing you lots of emotions. A very good story and even better characters. I cant wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
I find it really hard to review YA books and this one was no different, as much as I enjoyed the story parts fell flat for me I don't know if it's because of my mind frame at this time or the story but I just couldn't connect with it at all I just felt the story had great potential but the author never capitalised on it
Losing you is emotionally gripping. The love between Zoey and Tristan are felt almost immediately. The trials and tribulations of being two teens, who's families just aren't what the norm is, is what makes you feel for this couple! I had a hard time getting through the beginning, but by the end of it, I'm glad I didnt give up! Brooklyn had me grasping for the tissue box.
