The ketogenic diet isn’t just a great tool for helping people lose weight and feel their best; it’s also an extremely effective method for treating the common diseases of civilization. The Keto Cure will give readers the prescription they need to heal their bodies by eating plenty of fat and moderating protein and carbs.
Dr. Adam Nally has been advocating a low-carb, high-fat diet in his clinical practice for more than fifteen years, helping people address their health problems by making better food choices. Dr. Nally and bestselling low-carb author and podcaster Jimmy Moore have worked together to create a top-50 health podcast espousing the benefits of eating keto. Now, for the first time, Dr. Nally has teamed up with Moore to take his years of clinical experience, put everything down on paper, and create a how-to guide that details all the ways in which the ketogenic diet can help remedy common ailments. The Keto Cure details the science behind the keto diet’s effectiveness at treating a wide range of diseases, including Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, fatty liver disease, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, Parkinson’s disease, thyroiditis, type-2 diabetes, and many more.
The Keto Cure also outlines practical tips gleaned from Dr. Nally’s fifteen-plus years in medical practice, as well as Moore’s ten-plus years as a health and wellness podcaster, on overcoming the common pitfalls that people experience when adapting to a high-fat way of eating, including fatigue and keto flu. This helpful information, combined with a wide variety of delicious keto recipes from international bestselling cookbook author Maria Emmerich, makes The Keto Cure a complete resource for healing yourself with the ketogenic diet.
This is the healthiest way for me to eat. It may not be for you but I had great success with this way of eating. And then some crap happened and I not only fell off the wagon the rest of the wagon train coming up from behind ran me over and left me in the dust. I probably looked dead, I sure feel half dead, so I can't blame 'em. Picked this book up to remind me why I eat this way and provide a spur to my backside to climb back on.
I liked the way the book is laid out and there's a lot of good, concise info here followed by plenty of good recipes. Money and time well spent.
This book mainly covers a multitude of conditions that may be helped by a ketogenic diet, with recipes at the back. You wouldn't necessarily need to read all the chapters, you could just look up the conditions of interest. For every condition there are some recommendations for supplements, things to avoid, and for some conditions (like epilepsy) medication that works well.
This book doesn't really tell you how to do a ketogenic diet. All it does is suggest how many carbs to eat in a day to lower your insulin response. It also mentions all kinds of things that may increase the insulin response even though those items may not raise blood sugar, things like tea for instance.
Not the right book for me. I’ve been eating Keto for almost 4 years and was looking to see if I’d find some interesting tid bits I’m not aware of yet. The book covers macros, how to tackle different illnesses with keto and recipes. I find it very wordy and skipped over most things. While it provides a view on keto I did not find it complete enough and would not recommend it to a beginner. If you want to learn more about the effects of ketosis I would recommend ‘The Obesity Code’ by Dr. Fung instead
I am only about 3 months in to the keto lifestyle. I purchased this book after seeing a few videos by Dr. Nally. Initially I wasn’t sure I wanted yet another Keto book and/or cookbook but I am very glad I purchased this one. I will be using it often. The vast amount of information is awesome.
I thought I knew all I needed to know to be successful on the keto diet, but there is so much more useful information in this book. I highly recommend this book. You won't be disappointed.
This book was not what I was looking for...first it was way to technical and really kinda boring. I also found it to be quite repetitive which made it even more boring. The recipes were things most people would never eat or want to eat even if you were trying to lose weight. I don't think this program would be very sustainable for most people. I gave this book 2.5 out of 5 stars!
I am not particularly interested in these recipes, but otherwise I was very satisfied with the amount of information in here, especially about how the keep diet can affect various common diseases. I'm also a bit confused as to why Goodreads and Amazon both list this book with the primary author as Jimmy Moore when the material was really presented as written by Dr. Nally with notes from Moore.
The Keto Cure is a great introduction to the ketogenic way of eating. They describe what it is, how to achieve ketosis, and how this will heal your body. There are several chapters that describe specific ailments that keto will help, and there is a great section with recipes at the end of the book.
This book is pretty straightforward and easy to follow. What I liked about it is that after the intro, the chapters on this book cover different types of diseases, and how to help yourself improve your health with the “keto approach”. I would recommend it 👍🏼
