After twenty-year-old SAMANTHA DAVIS moves into an old house at the edge of a dense forest, she suffers recurring nightmares of being attacked by a wolf. As the days go by, she begins to sense something is lurking in the shadows, watching her, and the suspicious nature of the townspeople lead her to believe they have something to hide. Alone and afraid, Samantha’s instincts tell her to leave Wolf Hill, but when she falls for her neighbor, her heart says otherwise—a mistake that leaves her deep in the forest, fighting for her life.
I downloaded the sample first to test how I would like it. I did enjoy what I read in the sample and had high hopes for this since the paired off couple were 20 and 25. So it should be more serious and the female character Sami (20) shouldn’t be as insufferable as some teen paranormal romance dramas. Incorrect. She’s still very weak personality wise, drools over three boys, shuns one who kisses her too soon and then immediately starts kissing a different one a few hours later. The bad guy was pretty easy to figure out but I felt overall the book just dragged on so much with the every bit of her day cataloged for the reader. Will not be reading the next book.
Reads like a fanfiction written by a 12 year-old. The writing is simple and unexciting, the characters are bland and juvenile, and the dialogue for every character is short and empty. Any questions she builds up have lackluster answers, requiring no complex thought. Any attempt at building conflict between the characters falls flat...Speaking of, she's the type of author who introduces other women as busty skanks hanging off her man's arm. BARF.
Gautier tells and doesn't show. There's some attempt at detailed description, but it's for unimportant things like what color eye makeup the heroine's wearing, or the shape of her square beveled mirror hanging above her dresser. She also likes to detail every single mundane thing the MC does in a day, down to popping waffles in a toaster and packing ham and cheese sandwiches into brown paper bags. And yet she somehow managed to lack description during scenes, so every character interaction consisted of short, unexciting dialogue followed by "s/he said [adverb]ly". Also, if you're a firm believer in the "Chekov's Gun" trope, turn away now. Run. The heroine got sick to her stomach twice and I thought, "Pregnant?" Nope, she just gets sick on an empty stomach. One of many let downs.
I couldn't make it 16% through the book without wanting to fall asleep and I can't even skim to the action because there is none, it drags on and on with nothing happening. UGH. I was bored to the point of frustration - and to the point of DNFing at 23% and returning the first book of this series. Safe to say I won't be reading the rest.
This book was so slow I couldn’t keep myself interested in it. Every time she walked back and forth to her house I was hoping for her to get taken like the name of the book suggests just to get some drama. Nothing comes together so your left wondering what the actual plot of the book is and after a few chapters it was unclear if this is even a werewolf book because none of the main characters seem to believe in them. I am now 66% into the book with zero action past her minute to minute play of her boring life. There isn’t even a love triangle drama as she quickly dismisses one of the boys for another. The main character is also a clueless 20 year old shy virgin acting like a 12 year old girl around boys. Very boring read. I will not be finishing this series and am sad I spent the money on it.
This book is written with the main character being twenty but she comes across as 15 or16 years old. The characters are really immature for the ages that are portrayed. The writing style reinforces this opinion. It's a cute book that moves very slowly and painstakingly describes elements that take away from the storyline. This book is 85 percent fluff and could be condensed into a much more palatable tale.
These characters acted very young. In no way did I believe the main characters were 20 and up. It is very slow moving. If you skipped to the 70% mark and started reading you wouldn't have missed anything. The writing wasn't bad and there weren't grammatical errors or anything like that. It could've been a great story, but it just reads very young and very slow moving. I probably won't be continuing with the series.
I really liked the book. I haven’t read books in a while but this book is a page turner. The author kept my interest from the beginning until the end, especially about the terror that follows the main character. I just sort of wanted the main character to get more involved in the events. She tends to take risks and then become the damsel in distress. I wanted her to kick some butt, you know? Or try to be brave. However, I love the romance and look forward to reading the next book.
I the story line was good. really enjoyed this book. The characters where well-written. Can't wait for the rest of the series. Will look for more of her books.
This book was just amazing. Love the contents and I loved the characters. Three handsome men who wouldn't love to be in Sami place. Then that evil b***h Jessica wow just love it.
