Book 1 of Dial M for Murder

Detective Brooke Daniel's first day in the Homicide Department began with the gruesome discovery of unidentifiable human remains and continued with the Mayor's daughter being slain by a sadistic killer. The killer begins to taunt Brooke, as if he knows her personally, and the killings continue. The detectives soon dub him "the Ripper" because of his copycat behavior of the infamous Jack the Ripper, and he doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon.

Meanwhile, while hunting the Ripper, more unidentifiable remains are found and the homicide team soon finds itself hunting another kind of killer--an animal kind.

When "the Ripper" sets his sights on Brooke herself, who--or what--will save her?

Get ready for a great mystery read with a dose of paranormal thrown in. We start with Brooke's first day as a detective and it does not start of slow. She is thrown right into hunting down a serial killer. The killer dubbed "Jack the Ripper" starts to taunt Brooke.

This story was fast paced and kept you guessing. I love how the case is written about in a lot of detail. It makes you feel like you are in the story trying to help solve it. There were some twists and turns that I did not see coming. I never would have guessed who the killer was. Great suspense story.

I the characters were well developed. You got to know everyone who was investigating the case and a few who were not. This is a great debut book by Alexis Kennedy. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Brooke Daniel's and the sexy FBI agent.

I received a gift copy in exchange for an honest review.

**I was gifted this book in exchange for honest review.**
I am already intrigued and subsequently hooked just reading the brief prologue – a brilliant start! Action ensues immediately as a newly promoted homicide detective is forced to dive right in. This style of writing is refreshing – it is to the point while still painting a good picture for the reader, working in any necessary background information regarding the characters. I find this keeps it interesting without adding any unnecessary length.

This story has several mysteries going on at once, keeping it hard to put down. I enjoy the way we are treated to alternating POV’s in a way that only adds to the mysteries as well. I did predict some of the major outcome but I predict everything – this was a great read and I hope there is more to come with these characters. Brooke has so much potential; I am curious to see if her career advances over time. Especially since another mysterious event occurred in the end - I would love to see how it all pans out.

Am not so sure about this book. The paranormal activity did nothing really to carry the plot further. Brooke Daniel, the new detective is an enjoyable character- strong and efficient.. then makes all the wrong choices in men.. again and again.. that did not sit well with me.

Fast paced

This book is an easy read it is a fast paced police procedural. I wasn't sure about the paranormal aspect but it actually fit in the story. I liked it, and I've read a lot of good books.
