Once I started reading this book, I was glad it was my day off, because I could not put it down. The author does a great job pulling you into the story, so that you feel like you are there with them. This is not your common love story and romance, that you usually read. I like that it is different. It is a wonderful story that I highly recommend. I really like Alyx's mother. She is one strong, assertive woman. Maybe, Alyx is more like her than we first thought. Then, there is Cris. He is such a good man and a sexy paramedic. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced copy.

I think i've never been intrigued with a dead character before.
I know that Alyx is our main girl here. She's kind, understanding, sometimes too forgiving and compassionate.
But, yes there's a but.
This story made me wonder about Gabi more. What was she like,whta were she thinking at that particular moment,what's really goin on with her mind. And that thing with Brandon,that's what intrigued me more! Like how?what?when? Did it all started?
I need a Gabi story,that's what i think.

This was the first book of Nora Raines' that I've read. I was a refreshing story. Not the typical romance at all. Alyx was attracted to Cris, who was her best friend Gabi's boyfriend. Cris hated Alyx from the beginning. He thought she was just a spoiled rich kid that would corrupt Gabi. And his hatred only got worse once Gabi died in a car accident. Cris blames Alyx for her death. But is that blame justified? It appears that Gabi had some big secrets.
Gabi's death hit Alyx just as hard and her life started to spiral out of control. She's making bad choices, and unfortunately, Cris is witness to some of them. Her family has finally had enough and makes her move out of her cushy home and life. It builds character and humility in Alyx, and gives she and Cris a chance at a new beginning. But will they actually be able to build a true friendship if it starts with deceit?
There were some interesting characters in the book - especially Alyx's mother. She is stone cold and kicks ass! Her sister seems pretty cool too.
The book had good flow and a good story and it was quite enjoyable.

Alyx Franklin is a spoiled, rich party girl whose living a little bit more recklessly after the death of her best friend Gabi. To make matters worse, she's secretly harboring feelings for Gabi's ex-boyfriend who can't stand the sight of her.
Cris Garcia is still grieving over Gabi's death when a mysterious text reveals a crushing secret. He doesn't want to believe that Gabi would betray him but there's only one way for him to find out. He'll do whatever he has to do to find out the truth, which means he has to make amends with the person he holds responsible for Gabi's death,
Alyx's character goes through a series of life changes and experiences a great deal of growth throughout the story. Two things bugged me about this story. First, Cris' character went from literally hating Alyx to wanting to rip her clothes off in the span of a few hours. The story would have been more realistic if his opinion of her changed as they spent time together. The second thing was that I left this story wanting to know more about Gabi. This mystery woman deserves a novella of her own. Overall, this was an interesting and fast-paced read.

My first book by N.Raines, No Secrets is a standalone and the story of Alyx and Cris.
This was a good, fast-paced and a fairly quick read. We know from the blurb that Cris blames Alyx for his girlfriend's death.
But is Alyx really responsible?
Why does Cris think so?
What were Gabi's (his girlfriend) secrets?
Does Alyx know Cris is trying to get close to her to know Gabi's secrets?
Want to know answers for these questions and more? Read No Secrets ;) I liked that this book had less drama and I liked how Alyx turns herself around. Her parents while they looked like they weren't good initially, we see how their protective of their daughter later. Alyx and Cris' journey holds your interest throughout and I enjoyed reading this.
