The real world is what it is. Many clever people have tried to tell us that it is something else, and they make a lot of money for doing so, but I am retired now, and I can say what I think is right without fear of losing my job. In "The Real World, a Synthesis", I show why paying attention is important, and why solid evidence is, too. So much of our "understanding" of Earth depends on theory, but theory can have its own reality, and unfortunately it can be as illusory as the March Hare. This is, in a sense, a sequel to my college Earth science textbook, "The Earth System," and it is, in another sense, a sequel to James Lovelock's "Gaia." It pulls no punches, and it pays little heed to the peer-reviewed literature. Much of what you will read here is not what you've been told, but it makes good sense in terms of actual observations of Earth and a willingness to question the "authority" of peer-reviewed science. It is, in short, my best take on our planet as it really is, not as our simplifying models have assumed it to be.
I'm a polymath. What?? You heard me, a polymath. So, what the hell's that? A polymath is someone who gets bored doing the same thing all the time. So, what do you do? Well, a little bit of everything. Look. This is a writers' forum. I know that. So, what do you write about? Oh, a little bit of everything. Come on! You should read some of my books. Why? Well, they're different; not the same old stuff. You know what I mean? No, I don't. Aha! Then you'll just have to see for yourself, won't you? You mean, like read your stuff? Bingo!
Well-written, sufficiently researched, highly scientific, full of evidence, facts, analyses, logic and critical thinking. We hardly realize how valuable, how wondrous our Planet Earth really is. How careful we should be when exploring and exploiting its natural resources. At the end of the day, we are just part of the whole miraculous system, which is both reliable and unpredictable, if misused and abused. How tiny, yet unique, is our planet compared to the size of the universe. What I liked about this book is author's personal and sincere standpoint, enjoyable insights, diligently accumulated over many years of experience, hard work, deep exploration and endeavors. Highly recommended to all intellectual people around the world!
