What’s a heroine to do when her dragon captor is not only her enemy’s best defense… but is also the man of her dreams?
Deep in the north of the fae world of Underhill, Siobhan has been frozen for a hundred years. Finally gaining her freedom from the ice the only thing on her mind is vengeance. Instead, she becomes the prisoner of the Winter Queen’s Dragon: Atavantador. But nothing is as it seems. To become powerful enough to get her revenge, Siobhan must make an unlikely ally—the dragon’s sexy manservant, Doyle.
Doyle is hiding more than one secret—and all of them are worth his life. To keep the queen on his side he must play the game of dragon so well that no one guesses his true secret: beneath the Winter Palace lies one of the keys to all dragon kind’s survival. And time is running out.
Can Siobhan trust a man who is secretly her dragon captor and sworn to protect the Winter Palace? Or will she find out that ending a queen’s reign means sacrificing true love in her quest for revenge.
Dare to enter Jessica Aspen’s world of fast-paced fantasy romance Tales of the Black Court
Jessica always wanted to be spirited away to a world inhabited by elves, were-wolves and dark dangerous men who walk on the sharp side of the knife. Luckily, she's able to explore her fantasy side and delve into new worlds by writing Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romantic Suspense.
Jessica loves indulging in dark chocolate, reading eclectic novels, and dreaming of exotic vacations. When she isn't crafting magical adventures she spends most of her time walking on the beach and hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Jessica Aspen writes dark witchy Urban Fantasy and fast-paced Paranormal Romantic Suspense. As her alter-ego, J.B. Aspen, she writes the magical para-cozy mystry series MAGICAL MIDLIFE IN RETROGRADE. You can also find her fantasy romance series, HUNTED BY THE FAERIE QUEEN, under the pen-name, Jesica Ash.
I discovered this author last year, and I'm thoroughly impressed with her fairy tales encompassing lots of twist and turns throughout the stories from beginning to end. Of course, this will continue to enthrall readers.
Ms Aspen's writing about mythical creatures and magic can only be translated into 'Magical'. Her characters are defined with many emotional facets. They're very personable which makes them realistic. The plot, though not unique is fascinating due to the twist and turns that make the story. The pace is steady and flowed well throughout this story.
While try to rescue her brother, Siobhan is captured and put into stasis for a hundred years by the Winter Queen. After the hundred years, Siobhan is awakened and given to a dragon. Facing obstacles together, emotions will arise. What will happen next you might ask? Get the book, read it and you can decide.
I'd recommend this to all readers who love fairy tales with twist and turns.
I received a free copy from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest opinion.
I have loved this series (The Tales of the Dark Court), and I am highly impressed by this latest installment. This is the fourth novel of the series, and it keeps getting better! There is lots of action and magic, but the best part is the internal consistency. Details relate back in interesting ways to things in previous books in the series, as well as the timeline remaining coherent. This internal consistency rivals that of the genius Kresley Cole's epic paranormal romance series, "Immortals After Dark". Fans of that series should try the "Tales of the Dark Court" as we wait for Kresley Cole's next book. I am impressed with how thoroughly Jessica Aspen thought out how magic works in this world. The magic makes sense and is important for the plot. This novel mostly takes place in Underhill, the magical realm ruled by the elves, or the "Elvatians", as the author calls them. Multiple magical species dwell there, such as dwarves, pukah, the Fir Bolg, and dragons. The main characters are Siobhan, a spunky lower class Elvatian, and Doyle Atavantador, a dragon who can secretly shapeshift. The book is told in the past tense, third person perspective that alternates mostly between Siobhan and Doyle. A few chapters are told from Ardan's perspective; he is an Elvatian warrior who has been brainwashed by the evil Queen of the Winter Court. I like how the great enemy in the book, the Winter Queen, is suitably sinister and twisted but does not overtake the book with too much screen time. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It was not perfect, but its minor imperfections pale in comparison to how much fun it was to read and how much depth the series has. I love the many visual details that make me feel as if I am in Underhill with Siobhan. There were some minor typos but not enough to bother me. I mostly liked the two main characters, but they were occasionally annoying by displaying too much arrogance or being hard-headed. There are a few brief love scenes, and I wish that they were a little bit steamier. I recommend this book and the entire series to all fans of fantasy romance and paranormal romance. It can be read as a standalone, but reading the rest of the series later will enrich your experience.
Fantastic book the story of dragons, faeries and wicked queens all with an adult twist. The story of Doyle and Siobhan is a love hate relationship. With the unfortunate meeting of Doyle in Dragon form gets Siobhan as a gift. The White Queen Maeve is a terrible queen. She's a wicked queen who gets young boys and uses and abused them in her sick sexual way. Doyle us protecting the young queen Dragon who is still in her egg. Siobhan who is looking for her brother Bosco are thrown together. The sexual tension is unreal, Siobhan is very impulsive, she does what she wants and Damn the outcome. Even tho the sparks fly between Doyle and Siobhan neither of them want to admit their feelings. Everything works out with a lot of pain and love.
I've been searching for a god dragon shifter romance for awhile and was surprised at how much I really enjoyed this one. It drew me in from the start, and I just had to know what happened next. The characters grew fantastically and their was just enough suspense and mystery to keep me turning the pages. Now I need to read the rest of the series!!
I loved the twist in the next book in the series. I love dragons and enjoyed that they are able to shift into another being. Enjoy this one, and fall in love.
I love Siobhan and Doyle. What a tangled web they weave, especially when they both want to kill the Winter Queen. Talk about the Queen with the raging hormones! This was an awesome read. Full of excitement, anticipation, and love. Now I have to get book one. Five stars.
I have been waiting for this book so such a long time . I absolutely love the black court series and have been dying to hear about Siobhan's story . This is her story .
Siobhan has been frozen in ice for over a hundred years at the winter palace . The day she is unfrozen is the day the man of her dreams walks into her world . Well part of him does the dragon part of him, They are thrust together and her captor has become her protector. There are secrets on both sides and will they survive to find out all along that their love will survive .
I loved the characters in this book they are strong and complex . I love how Jessica makes her female characters seem weak at the beginning and as the story grows the strength and determination. They become such strong fearless woman who would do anything for the men they love . Siobhan is such a fierce character . She is so determined to find he brother and kill the winter queen in the process . Doyle is sexy as sin dragon who is hiding his secret to Siobhan . He is trying to keep the secret and you see him trying to fight his pull to Siobhan.
This is a story that you will fall in love with . The characters are lovable and you will fall in love with Doyle . You would want to climb him like a monkey . Yeah I had that reaction to him . You are reading along and you are swept away into the story and you are so hoping that they will get their HEA. I fell in love with this world from the very first book and was so happy when she continued the story , I wasn't finished with them yet . This was a fast read for me and I read it in an evening . Trust me you will get sucked in and turn the pages all night long . So if you want a great series to read that will take you to the land of the fae and your favourite fairy tales , just a little more twisted and a little more grown up .
Jessica Aspen releases another smoldering tale from Underhill!
The newest release in Jessica Aspen's Tales of the Black Court series is a sensually twisted version of the Snow Queen fairy tale featuring a steamy ice dragon shifter named Doyle and the newest Underhill heroine, Siobhan. If you enjoyed any of the other books from this series, I'm sure you'd enjoy this one just as much. I just can't decide whether the Black Queen or the Winter Queen deserves the title of "Most Villainous Queen of Underhill" since they both are horribly wicked nemeses for the heroes/heroines of these stories. I'm looking forward to seeing what Jessica Aspen has in store for our heroes/heroines in future tales from Underhill...
Magic, Dragons, evil queens and innocent victims. Everything to make a wonderful story. The story revolves around one woman out to protect her brother. Everyone in this world has some magic. Siobhan has just a little, but that doesn't stop her from going up against the evil and very powerful winter queen and an even more powerful ice dragon.
I love that the writer has what should be a weak female but her will is so strong and stubborn that even a dragon takes notice.
Can't wait for the next book. Hoping to see more of Ardan.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced copy of the book.
Amazing tale of Siobhan and Doyle! This writer did a beautiful job growing the love between the two main characters even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds! As I clung to the pages wondering if they would reach an HEA, at the same time I was dreading the possibility that their story could end up bittersweet. Superbly written, this book will keep you riveted till the end as well as add another to your TBR list upon conclusion. This voluntary review is based against an advance copy.
This book was so good of love and loyalty and sacrifice and happy endings oh what a wild ride it was so good hot and exciting you have one women that gets finally out of the ice that she was in and she thinks she is in the ice forever and she wants revenge to find her brother and what happened but she has a dragon guarding her and trying to find out what is going on great book falling love and warmth and loyalty for all the dragons. Michelle
I love the world of magical kingdoms and the twist on characters we have grown up with. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the character Doyle but you can't help but feel for him and hope that he is able to get the girl as well as complete his quest..... I am excited to see how the next installment will play out!
The Winter Queen's Dragon, a continuation of the Tales of the Black Court by Jessica Aspen, is a standalone novel that is enriched by reading the others. Doyle and Siobhan's icy hot romance runs strong under a beautiful story of duty, devotion and sacrifice. The HEA leads the way to the next novel in the series. Can't wait to read it.
I received a free copy from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review. I think it is an amazing book I loved it beautiful characters n a great story line. It draws me in I just couldn't put it down.

A really great fantasy romance/shifter story. Wow, all my favorites rolled into one fantastic tale! I haven't read anything else in this series so I am eager to go back and check out the rest of the stories. But this one, it's great!
Siobhan has been frozen for a hundred years and then she is captured by the Winter Queen. An amazing fantasy story that keeps you intrigued until the very end. Received this book for free and reviewed because I wanted to. Everyone should read this book .
I just finished reading this. It was a great book with a wonderful storyline. I am dying to read all of Jessica's books now. Downloading all I can find.
I loved learning about Doyle and Siobhan and even the queen dragon. From a frozen block for 100 years to dragon food; anything is possible or her; as long as she can survive her new dragon master.
