This book was previously released with another publisher. No changes have been made. When Devros learned the truth about his lynx companion, he did the unthinkable and rejected his mate. Galen deserved better than to be bound to dragon with no honor. Yet the witch would not give up without a fight. After Galen nearly died to save him, Devros realized that his mate was what was most important. But it may be too late, for Galen disappears after he recovers. When Galen woke from the healing sleep he knew his past had caught up with him. To protect the mate he loves, he had gone to the human’s lands to confront that past, once and for all. He never expected Devros to come after him, risking his life if he were to be discovered, much less be so determined to claim him. Now Galen is in a race to get Devros back to the safety of their home. But once they are there, he must face that the greatest danger to his mate might be the secret that Galen has vowed to keep. But secrets have a way of coming out. When Devros is captured, Galen realizes he might not be able to protect his mate, no matter what he is willing to do. This book contains memories of violence and sexual violence.
EEEEEK Galen and Devros' story! YAY! I feel like I've been waiting for this one for a while, but I can assure fans of this series that the wait was worth it! LOTS happened in this story, and it has just left me ready for the next book in this series.
We already knew about Devros and Galen from the previous books (I definitely recommend starting with book 1 of this series as they all build on each other and the characters from previous books are heavily involved in each story) but now we really get to see how they will get past what has happened already, and try to move on, heal emotionally, and accept each other as mates. I really loved that we found out more about Galen, his father, and his magic abilities. I also really loved that they were able to mend their friendships with some of the other characters, too.
I loved Galen and Devros, and my heart ached for them both at different times and for different reasons.
Also! We have babies! Well, they're still eggs, but Josiah had his 2 and now it'll soon be Martel's turn. (And eventually Devros, right???)
The story ends with an epilogue from Arturo's POV as he thinks about his mates, Sara and Thomas, and I can't wait to read about these three. I don't usually read threesomes with girls these days, but I'll totally read anything this author writes. Can't wait!
I HIGHLY recommend this series if you like historical type paranormal/fantasy (it's dragons) and some mpreg thrown in. Just try it!
This was probably the most emotionally compelling book in this series for me. I've never experienced it, but torture always evokes a very visceral reaction in me and this story brought that out. I can only imagine the despair that Galen and Devros felt at various times in this book watching his mate suffer and not being able to help.
The Kindled by Fate series just keeps getting better with every installment. I love the characters and the relationships that develop between them. Here's hoping the series continues.
I enjoyed this story even though there are agonizing moments. Betrayal frequents this clutch and things are not always as it seems. There’s battles and births and love.
