Isn't it time to write a new story -- your own story -- where you create the success and abundance you deserve in the way that is right for you? If you've ever felt that you're not lovable, abundant, vital, supported, powerful, purposeful and valuable, this book will help you discover that the opposite is Truth. -Karen Curry Parker
The real answer to success, wealth, love, health and happiness is found in your process of personal transformation using Human Design, a scientific system. Human Design is rich and complex; it involves a lot of data. The system is a synthesis of Eastern and Western Astrology, the Chinese I'Ching, the Kabbalah, the Hindu Chakra System and Quantum Physics.
While I loved the earlier book Understanding Human Design (which is out of print right now unfortunately - I hope it is back in print/ebook soon) - I thought this book would be a deepening of study. While I like the stories and we definitely learn from those, I wanted something I could more apply toward my personal progress, using my own chart and seeing deeper themes for each gate, channel and the incarnation crosses since these are quite applicable and there are not nearly enough resources on these, particularly in a format of abundance application. I hope more advanced books are also on deck from this author!
The first half of the book, when people share their stories, is a slog. But when Karen Curry Parker starts talking about how to find abundance in your chart, that's when the book becomes valuable.
The first half (or more) of the book is a sales pitch. My guess is they were trying to pull off something like “Radical Acceptance” where personal experiences are used to further help the reader understand concepts. But also get people to drop some coin. The second half is very informative for those at the beginning of their Human Design journey. I’m still not sure how much I believe but it’s worth picking up for the second half.
To me, if anything, this book was disappointing. I knew it started with stories from people about how they were using their design to create abundance, but it was so. many. stories. and no Reflectors or Manifestors which felt like a shame. It would've been a lot better to have ALL Human Design types represented in these stories.
The last tiny bit, like literally, around 20% of the book, was actual, golden, usable knowledge, about each center and how to navigate their effects, that was honestly amazing and I don't know why the whole book couldn't go more on this level. Having read many books on Human Design, this wouldn't come close to the fair number I'd recommend to those who wish to learn more about it.
