OH MY GOSH I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY???? I am so so so so so happy with the way this story ended. I’m depressed. I LOVE MISAKI AND USUI SO MUCH THEIR STORY WAS SO AMAZING YES YES YES I wanna read it all over again. I feel like everything wrapped up together PERFECTLY?! First off, continuing the last volume, misa is preparing to go to England to get usui back and she gets help from president igarashi! I wouldn’t have ever guessed that lol but what I did see coming was that he had a thing for her. THERE WAS SUCH AN AMAZING SCENE where usui came to misa’s recuse in England and YES GO USUI! Also he was so jealous of igarashi I loved it hahah they also said each other’s first name for the first time and I LOVED THT SCENE YES. I just really felt the love usui and misaki have through the pages and it’s so amazing to see that and compare it to the previous volumes 🥹 they literally did that in here too and it made me SO EMOTIONAL! Comparing to how back then, if usui made certain comments, misa would’ve exploded, but now she kinda enjoys it and doesn’t deny it (still gets annoyed tho haha) Upon returning to Japan, misa and usui do things they need to do for their futures and continue to support each other. One thing I am so proud of: MISA FOR EMBRACING HER LIFE AS A MAID! The secret is finally out and I’m so happy for her! I love the support all her friends gave her and the highschool graduation was so bittersweet. I’d have to say her and usui’s speech were my second fav part of this. My first: THE EPILOGUE!! The 10 years later!! I loved seeing everyone get their special happy ending. It made me so happy bc all the characters (misa’s friends, student council members, the maids at maid latte + more) are SO likeable and I loved them all so much. Makes me so happy they got their happy endings and made it to usui and misaki’s weddings! Obsessed w/ usui and misa and their vows and wow this whole thing is gonna stick with me for a very long time 🫶 so sad it’s over bc I could read 92828 more volumes about misa and usui

I can’t tell you how much I love this series. It is cute, full of great characters, and the banter between the two main characters is everything I ever needed and more.

Seriously though, Misaki and Usui have this incredible bond that will never be broken no matter the drama that comes between them. They sometimes have a hard time expressing their feelings and so the relationship between them is a slow burn, like very slow. It’s a slow burn that I don’t mind because there is never a dull moment between them and the other characters. The plot is always moving along and at times can be frustrating as new characters are introduced and are trying to disrupt the beauty of their relationship. Through it all, Misaki and Usui always stay true to who they are and what they want.

The ending was perfect and wrapped it up quite nicely. It had me teary eyed and I will definitely miss these characters for sure. I know that this will be one series that I reread and will add to my library because it is just that good.

I will say that I did watch the anime on Hulu before finishing the series. It is just as hilarious and another show that I will watch on repeat. The anime isn’t complete and so you have to read the mangas to actually know what happens after a certain but that’s fine because I like them both regardless!

Again, I love this series and I will most likely talk about it a lot. If you like mangas/animes then check out both or one! You won’t be disappointed!

I do like that the very end goes ten years in the future and is a whole chapter. It gives you a sense of how the characters continued to grow. I am just not a huge fan of the humor here, and also feel like the characters are kept at arms length, so overall it's just an ok series for me, though I can recommend it as a beginners series, or for someone who really likes shojo.

Volume 9 brings the series to a close with some sweet moments and a very "Maid-Sama!" ending. Fujiwara stayed fairly consistent throughout this long series and didn't sidetrack into the minor character lives too often, keeping the story focused on the moments between Usui and Ayuzawa.

Synopsis: It's graduation time for Ayuzawa, Usui, and the other seniors at the high school. Loose ends are tied up as Usui comes to terms with his parents and half brother/grandfather. Ayuzawa, meanwhile, realizes it might just be time to 'come out' to her school mates about working in a maid cafe. Ayuzawa's sister sets her sights on Koh and the poor guy will never know what hit him when she's through.

The ending is zany and fun - taking place ten years after the end of high school. It's both appropriate and a solid ending to what has been a very entertaining series. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

This series was so lighthearted and fun but had its deep moments too. Misaki and Usui are some of my favorite characters ever. Maid-Sama is one of my favorite anime so I'm happy to finally read the rest of the story. This series will always be one of my favorites and I can't recommend it to enough people.

So I really disliked the I have to go to Britain sun plot but really I think the final chapter is one of the most satisfying over all. We got to know about everyone!!! I am so happy for her sister and her childhood friend. I do wish some of this had been cut down and removed. But over all they were really cute once we go the romance scenes. His final declaration of love was too sweet. I think over all a 3.5 but the ending has me rounding up cause it wasn’t just like we are happy it’s was all allll the people are happy.

I really wanted to give this one a 3-star, but ITS THE LAST FREAKIN' (DOUBLE) VOLUME!!! My series ended!?!?!?!! I was not expecting this to be the last volume. I did love the ending scenes though.

As always, the series review will be put on the first volume, notes to be added here soon.

The finale **sigh** I dragged it out as long as I could. It felt like saying goodbye to a long-time friend. There was so much I loved about these last few volumes, but also things that made me borderline homicidal. No other volume has done that. I really wanted a drama-free finale, but that was too much to ask.

Misaki going after Usui was very on-brand. They’re so dramatic but they’re my favorite kind of drama. It’s crazy we went through all that just for the crinkled bastard of a grandaddy to come out and tell Usui to leave and that was it. I was happy about that because they didn’t deserve him. Misaki and Usui are the kind of characters you know will end up together no matter what. I’m happy I got to see them grow, fight, and get the happy ending they deserved. I would’ve loved a montage (at least) that captured important events in the ten years that passed after they graduated high school. Honestly, it was necessary after what followed.

I needed Usui to start putting his foot in everybody's ass cause they were playing with him entirely too much. That thing that happened at the airport? He should’ve unalived that boy. Also, I was upset with that ending a little bit. I wasn’t fulfilled because it felt forced. Usui devoted his career and education to the people who shunned and abandoned him since he was born… We didn’t even see his adoptive parents as much as we saw the people who DESPISED him for being alive. His grandfather still didn’t even acknowledge him as part of the family ten years later! Then all their friends and family (the people who actually mattered) had to travel from Japan to England, for what? A wedding in a dusty castle? In all that time, what happened for that to be the ending? I simply had too many questions and was too annoyed to enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I had more of an emotional reaction to that montage that showed Misaki getting into the college she wanted.

Still love the series, just disappointed in that ending. It felt rushed and I expected more.

This is a culmination of a series long in the making of us smacking our heads and going "oh come on" so many times that it begins to hurt, but finally we see all the things we hope for in this final volume. Misaki's long and hard journey to accept her feelings for Usui and showing him that she cares for him and doesnt consider him a creepy alien anymore is a real relief towards the end of the book we see Misaki finally showing her friends that she works at a maid cafe and her friends were ok with it and didnt mind it in the slightest and we all knew that from the beginning that she had understanding friends from the get-go. I was extremely excited to see Misaki and Usui get married and I never apologized for the light scream I gave off when i saw it. I knew i wanted them together so badly that i have not been the squeamish since the end of Ouran High School Host Club with how everything happened there. I know this will be an anime that i show multitudes of people that need that little bit of love in their life and see how hard it is when you come from a family like Misaki that it takes that one Baka Hentai to make you start to feel something you never knew you wanted. Hiro Fujiwara please give is more love and attention!

Volume 17

..

It's been sooo long since I've read this series and back then it was only online and I had to wait for the next chapter to be released like every week...And now I can proudly say I own and read all the volumes now physically.

This series has such a special place in my heart and I just love everything about it. The art, the characters and their personalities, the storyline, and the romance ♡ just perfection to me.

I still feel bittersweet that it's done and has been done for years already. But I loved the ending. Misaki x Takumi for life~ they will forever be my favorite shojo couple out of all the others in the earlier 2000s.

I’m happy with how the side characters were wrapped up, but not with the way Misaki *still* seemed physically and emotionally distant from Takumi at the end of the series.
I loved the series until the England plot took things in such a different (and far-fetched) direction in the last couple of volumes. The long-distance negatively affected the main characters’ chemistry on the page, and I didn’t like the 10-years-later decisions it led them to.
But I’m happy to have finished the series and recommend it overall.

This was one of those shoujo mangas that leaves an emptiness in my heart because of two reasons: it’s so good that you don’t want it to finish and because I feel I needed to know a bit more of what happened to the MC’s. I love Misaki and Takumi, how tsundere she is, how idiotic he is (in Misaki’s words). I love how Takumi accepts every part of her even if she doesn’t accept some of those traits herself.

Well, I’ll have to look for another manga to read, hopefully one that is as good as this one.

i feel that the first half of these volumes started off pretty slow in my opinion, there were multiple final act storylines and plot twists that i felt slowed down the momentum that was going on with misaki and usui in previous volumes. but the last two thirds had me on the edge of my SEAT!! there were still minor diversions due to wrapping up some smaller side plots but a lot of it was just overall more cohesive at that point. can’t lie that final chapter was one of the best ways to finish an amazing and super strong series

I watched the anime when I was 12, and it was the anime that got me into anime. It's been 14 years since then and this year I finally read the entire manga beginning to end. I loved it so much! There was so much character development in these last few volumes, and I'm so happy with where the characters ended up. I really wish they'd re-make the anime and add the rest of the story, like they did with Fruits Basket. Misaki and Usui will always be my favourite characters and I'm so grateful to Hiro Fujiwara for creating them 🩷

This installment was so nostalgic! I loved every bit of it! Usui and Misaki are the cutest and I love them! It was very interesting that the author chose to do the last chapter on Misaki and Usui being reunited ten years later and finally, FINALLY getting hitched. I loved that everyone was there and how they all had found their way in life. 😍😍😍 so sweet and adorable and I wish it wasn't over so soon! I need more manga!!!

This is the exciting conclusion of the Maid-sama series. Boy, they went out with a bang! Misaki follows her heart and travels to England to get Usai; however, after months apart, things looked bleak but Usai came back to her. In the end, they graduated and Misaki finally let her secret out of being a maid at the Maid Cafe, to the shock of everyone. The story concludes with a wedding between Misaki and Usai ten years later in England. They finally got their happily ever after!

One of the few manga series I've read where it stuck the landing and gave us an ending that was worthy of the rest of the story. Not too drawn out, Fujiwara manages to give us a satisfying resolution to the long will-they-won't-they romance with hints of what happened to the rest of the cast as well. Well worth the effort of tracking down the last half of the series after TOKYOPOP stopped distributing it!

Honestly the ramp up to the ending is excellent and I loved the last chapter. But the interim “study to get into college” arc was kind of nothing in the grand scheme of things. It’s be nice if we could focus more on how everyone has grown over the course of the series. Because the changes have been so fun to watch.
Oh, and the “sexually assault a woman so her boyfriend gets mad” thing is back. Which is so very disappointing. I did like the ending idiot Usui but though. I deserved that.

As cliche as it is, I love that type of ending!!! 10 year time jump and seeing everyone get together and celebrate the main couple… Perfection!!!

Overall, I give this series a 4/5 stars!!! The beginning took awhile to take off for me. I didn’t start feeling connected to the characters till about vols 5 and 6.
I absolutely loved the main couple. Their dynamic was amazing to me. God, I think I’m in love with Usui. Lol. I really liked him as a love interest.
