This was the most emotional omnibus . . .
I am not okay after this - wow the emotions . . . I felt a sword piercing my heart while reading and turning the pages.
I feel like crying.
Uno vs Kenpachi - I felt it.
The history of Isshin and Ryu . . . damn.
This was amazing and I know, I will feel empty when I finish the last volume.

Flashbacks and training arcs sandwiched in-between moments of splendour. There's a larger focus on character development, but it pales in comparison to Kubo's ability to portray action. It's slower than the previous collection, and is perhaps unfairly hurt due to how explosive the arc started. Plus, some of the choices feel a little ret-con adjacent in order to add to Ichigo's power and unique scaling.

Beautiful art. But super uneven. Beginning was amazing and end was very good. But, the fan service and fluff of most of the book was disappointing.

Revelations can be a little difficult to write. When Bleach revealed one revelation after another, it ties up every thing that is need to know about the series. One, in fact, reveals the true nature of Ichigo Kurosaki. Although this current arch is still not really up to par, I do enjoy the revealing revelation about who Ichigo's mother is and of course, his sword. Overall, its good but still a long way to finish for this series.

I want to be more succinct with volume summaries for these 3-in-1s. Like maybe just list setpieces instead of writing too much. But I already wrote two full sentences for the first chapter collected here....
Unohana farming aura like a madwoman. The classic face on Page 264!
Volume 58: The Yhwach defeated by Yamamoto is revealed to be Royd the Yourself. The real Yhwach arrives, mentions he tried hiring Aizen, then defeats Yamamoto. Ichigo arrives. Ichigo and Yhwach fight a bit, where Yhwach sees Ichigo has Blut Vene. It is alluded that Ichigo's mom was a Quincy. Squad Zero arrives after Yhwach leaves. Kukaku returns to help Squad Zero and Ichigo go to the Reiokyu. Ganju is training the Xcutioners. Ichigo, Renji, Rukia, and Byakuya are taken to Tenjiro's hot spring to recover. Kyoraku is appointed as Captain General. Kyoraku's first move is to have Kenpachi taught zanjutsu by Unohana, revealed as the first Kenpachi (and whose real given name is Yachiru!). Volume end.
Volume 59: Ichigo and Renji (and Kon) are sent to Kirio's city, where they are fed. Kirio invented Gikongan and her food is infused with artificial Spiritual Pressure to boost those who eat it. Ichigo and Renji are sent to Oh-etsu's city, the creator of Zanpakuto. Oh-etsu breaks the boys' swords further, then drops them in a pit of Asauchi for training. Kenpachi begins training with Unohana. Turns out Kenpachi has been unconsciously suppressing his power this whole time to ensure he can still enjoy struggle in battle. Unohana is killing and healing Kenpachi the entire fight. Unohana dies to help Kenpachi awaken his Zanpakuto. Renji passes Oh-etsu's training, but he rejects Ichigo (Ichigo doesn't hear that it's because he lacked an Asauchi of his own). Ichigo learns from his father than his mom was a Quincy, beginning a flashback. We learn Rangiku was Isshin's Assistant Captain, and that he is a Shiba (unless we already knew both, idr lol). Toshiro was Third Seat also. Ichigo's mom was supposed to marry Uryu's dad. Isshin runs into a Hollow resembling Ichigo's super form. Volume end.
Volume 60: Isshin fights the Hollow. Aizen and his boys are there. Tosen named the Hollow "White," and it's made by a Shinigami soul. Masaki baits White to attack her so she can shoot him point blank. White triggers a self-destruct, intriguing Aizen. Masaki develops a Hollow hole in her chest. Ryuken, Isshin, and Kisuke try to save her. Idr if this was said earlier, but Kisuke's vaccine for the Vizards' Hollowfication was made by Quincy Arrows and human soul. Isshin had to use a Gigai so his Shinigami blood balances Masaki's Quincy blood and the human power of the Gigai balances Masaki's Hollowfication. Ryuken marries his maid. Yhwach culled impure Quincies, killing Uryu's mom and weakening Masaki such that Grand Fisher killed her. Yhwach hires Uryu. Ichigo is brought back to Hoohden, where the Asauchi kneel to him, and he chooses one who turns into Masked White Ichigo. Other Shinigami begin training. Oh-etsu reveals Ichigo's new Asauchi is White. Ichigo learns Old Man Zangetsu is actually a vision of Yhwach from a thousand years ago. Volume end.

the additional backstory for ichigo is contrived and silly, and the pace slows to molasses. i like the revelation about zangetsu and enjoyed seeing isshin in his younger days. the unohana revelation was a little too sudden and brief but still cool. it’s also funny that the ultimate badass squad zero dudes are all complete goofball morons.

Much better than the last arc! Lost some major characters in this bind-up and finally have a better understand in of what's going on though some of Kubo's explanations are confusing AF.

Oh wow this is possibly the best fight of the Bleach manga and Yama really goes all out. Love seeing Aizen again Kubo doesn’t give us too much.

This new storyline gets more and more intriguing as we see a lot of changes to what we thought we knew. Some might dislike this as it re-writes a lot of the origin story, but it adds new layers to Ichigo and the current conflict. Can't wait to see where things go.
