Like The Official SAT Study Guide™ , this is the only official study guide for CLEP, developed and published by the test makers. The book has remained the most popular study aid for CLEP exams. Interest in CLEP is high among graduating high school students, adults returning to college, homeschool students and those in online degree programs, active-duty military personnel and military veterans.
The College Board, also known as The College Entrance Examination Board, is a not-for-profit membership organization "committed to excellence and equity in education" whose mission is "to connect students to college success and opportunity".
Used this to study for College Math. There were actually a number of mistakes in the practice questions that really stressed me out because it made me question whether or not I understood the concepts. I will update the review after I take the test - for now, however, it does seem that the book will be helpful for the test, but it is highly frustrating to see errors in the practice questions.

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) awards college credit at more than 2,900 U.S. colleges and universities for demonstrating achievement in a subject by means of a computer-based exam. By earning a satisfactory score, you can earn the same amount of credit as a student who successfully completed the same course at that school. Prospective students enrolling in accelerated degree programs are usually encouraged to take the CLEP test.
CLEP policies vary widely from school to school — for example, some colleges may limit the total amount of credit you can earn through CLEP exams, or some may grant exemption from a course, but give no credit toward a degree, etc.- so before registering for a CLEP exam, be sure to check with your school to determine which exams are accepted and how much credit they will give you. If you are earning an accelerated degree online, be sure to discuss this matter with your advisor or enrollment counselor.
I CLEPped out of 6 classes utilizing this book (and outdated textbooks available at PBS or elsewhere) for each subject as my study guide. Get this book during your first semesters of school because those are the classes that you can test out of. Imagine paying only $25-$100 to get credit for that boring entry level class!
Service members should note that there is special way to take CLEP exams that involves learning the specific approach to answering questions while taking the tests (included in the instructional front matter of CLEP Official Study Guides, like this one). Additionally, you should always check with your soon to be alma mater (the university that will produce your final transcript) before taking a CLEP or DSST, because every school may have a slightly different policy for the amount of credit they grant for a test - usually based on your test score.
