An interesting mystery novel (detective fiction). The author revealed the truth step by step like putting together a puzzle. It doesn’t mislead you at the beginning and give you a sharp turn like other books of its kind. It’s fun to see how the story evolves around the corruption of medical/healthcare system in 1980s Japan, which remains an issue today.

Reads more like a thriller (冒险小说,as described by the author himself)than the conventional Japanese mystery novel (推理小说)as there has more description of how and what he is going to escape being captured rather than towards solving the case. Although it is still a very engaging story but not for the same reason as being a mystery novel. Very rare that I can find Japanese mystery novel that goes along the pace of Lee Child, but still a good read.
