A sweet story of friendship, family, and love. I haven't read the first book so I will have to pick that one up. I hope the series continues as I would like to read the continuing story of all the characters. I can see the possibilities for so many storylines... hope the authors can too!

Sometimes I just need a sweet, light, easy read that makes me smile, and this was just right.
As twins, Elma and Thelma have always been there for each other. With Thelma now happily married and expecting their first child, Elma is feeling a bit lonely. She yearns for someone to love, but her prospects are limited. Elma stays busy running the General Store left to her and Thelma by their grandparents, seeking to be content with her life. Elma places her future in God's plan trusting in his blessings.

One of the original founders of the Amish genre, Wanda E. Brunstetter has done it again.
This is the second book in the Lopsided Christmas Cake series.
It was great to read such a light, fun read after some of the books I've been reading dealing with heavier subjects. The twins, Thelma and Elma no longer live together as Thelma has gotten married and is expecting a boppli since the last book. The sisters are still running their general/fabric store but it's tiring out Elma since with Thelma expecting she really can't help out many hours weekly.
Thelma and Elma go to the Farmer's Market to sell produce and due to a funny mishap, Elma meets Ben. On a flower delivery Ben makes for his mother he takes along his dog, Hunter . As Hunter is chasing the customers cat he runs off and gets lost devastating, Ben. An old boyfriend of Elma's is back in the picture but will Elma even choose either of them or is she too picky in love?
I loved how the dog brought Elma and the man she chose together. When I read a Wanda Brunstetter book I can always count of good quality writing and great Christian values . Superb author!

This is an easy light Amish romance. I didn’t read the first in the series which was the courtship of one twin and this book tells the other sister’s story

I actually enjoyed this book more than the "Lopsided Christmas Cake". I liked the new character Ben and I was happy with the way things turned out for all the characters. I wonder if Wanda E. Brunstetter will continue with any other stories about the twins Thelma & Elma?

Meet identical twins Thelma and Elma! I was introduced to them when I read The Lopsided Christmas Cake by Wanda E Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter. When a buggy accident claimed the lives of their grandparents, the twins inherited a home and store in Topeka Illinois. Moving from Sullivan to Topeka was not easy and they found their new home was not as ship shape as they remembered from childhood visits. Hard work and faith carries the girls through each challenge. The Lopsided Christmas Cake is a lively story of their coming of age.

The Farmer's Market Mishap centers on Elma and Ben Wagler who it would seem couldn't possibly get together. Imagine being of marrying age and just not finding the right mate yet matchmakers seem determined to pair you up with unsuitable matches. Elma feels destined to be an old spinster running her store alone after the recent marriage of Thelma to Joseph. Even though their home is across the street she misses the close companionship she felt with her twin. Ben has been living with his mother on the family farm since his father passed. A farrier by trade, his life seems to be too busy to court the young woman his mother has "chosen" for him. He's met every other eligible young lady in his community and feels destined to carry out his life without a wife.

A chance meeting at the farmer's market in Shipshewana sends sparks to both Ben and Elma. The spark kindled by this encounter leaves a lasting impression on both their hearts but she lives in Topeka and he lives in Grabill. 50 miles is a bit far apart to begin a courtship for this Amish couple! What of Ben's mother, Dorothy, who couldn't live alone, or the store, or Thelma's new baby? How can these two get together when distance and family obligations threaten to keep them apart?

This story is light-hearted and heartwarming. I recommend The Farmer's Market Mishap for anyone who enjoys Wanda Brunstetter's legacy of Amish fiction.

A man's heart deviseth his way but the Lord directeth his steps.
Often we make plans for our lives but the Lord has the final choice in the path we take. Thelma and Elma Hochstetler , identical twins , made plans at an early age that neither of them would marry before the other. But things changed and Thelma found herself married to Joseph while Elma remained single.
Elma continues to run the general store and keep up with the house, barn and cores . Often exhausted from her work load and lonely she continues on with life the best that she can. Literally by accident she meets someone who has the potential to bring new meaning to her life. And then there's Delbert.
Elma and Delbert had previously courted in the Lopsided Christmas Cake, book one in this series. Now he's back and seems to be showing interest in Elma again. Of course Thelma isn't above trying to be a matchmaker between the two. Will Elma choose Ben or Delbert or will she choose to remain alone.
The Farmers Market Mishap was written by New York Times Bestselling Author Wanda Brunstetter and her Daughter in law Jean Brunstetter. I had read The Lopsided Christmas Cake, book one of this series. Naturally I wanted to read book two, The Farmers Market Mishap, to catch up with the characters. I was attracted to the colorful cover . The story did not disappoint. I always read books by this author and have enjoyed the ones co-authored with her daughter in law as well.
Anyone who enjoys reading Amish Fiction or Christian Fiction would enjoy this book. If you love books that cause you to lose all track of time , then you will want to read this book . I highly recommend it!
I was given a copy of The Farmers Market Mishap from the Publisher and the Authors. I was not asked to give a positive review and have given an honest rating and review on how I felt about the book.

Wanda and Jean have done it again. Another book that I absolutely loved. I didn't want to finish it but I couldn't wait to finish it. I enjoyed getting to know Elma better and seeing her happy. I really hope there will be another book in this series where we can read more about Elma. Thelma and their families.

In The Farmer’s Market Mishap, we find Elma Hochstetler very lonely and very busy after her twin sister married and is now expecting a baby. Even though her sister, Thelma just moved across the street, Elma can’t help but to feel lonely and even a bit abandoned.

I really felt for Elma. She has resigned herself to being an old maid and is now running the store her and her sister own virtually on her own. The one thing she seems to talk to the most is her cat. She has courted a few men, but either she is too picky or they are. Till one day she meets Ben at the farmer’s market.

Ben is a bachelor of 35 living at home and taking care of his mother. He also has resigned himself to a life of singleness until he meets Elma. The only problem is that they live a distance apart. Distance can be such a problematic and scary word for families. Neither Thelma, Elma’s twin, or Ben’s mother wanted either one of them to move away. It was a sticky situation and I did feel that Elma and Ben were quite old enough to make their own decisions, but the families were comfortable the way things stood and neither Elma’s sister or Ben’s mother were very open about them moving away from one of them. Hmmm, this raised a few of my hackles.

This for the most part is a light summer read that shows that even having a simpler life, life can still get complicated.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Twins Elma and Thelma are moving forward in their lives. Maybe not Elma so much as she is struggling to run the store, they had inherited from their grandparents, and keep their old home livable. Elma wishes she had someone to help her, like a husband, since Thelma was married to Joseph and expecting their first baby. Delbert is more than willing to help with repairs needed at the house and the store. Thelma would love to see Delbert and Elma together, since he is Joseph’s best friend. However, Elma and Delbert didn’t click when they had courted earlier in the book, The Lopsided Christmas Cake.

An unexpected event at the farmer’s market introduced Elma to Ben Wangler. However, Ben lived in another town, caring for his mother and had his own business. Thelma implied to Elma it wouldn’t work for her to marry Ben because she would have to move to where Ben lived but she was needed at the store. Elma believed Thelma’s remark and refused to continue seeing Ben. Plus, Ben’s mother didn’t think he needed to court someone in another town. There are serious and humorous times throughout The Farmers' Market Mishap. Wanda and Jean Brunstetter created another lighthearted charming read with characters that will please, especially the dog that brighten up the world for Elma. What tragic event will bring communities together and individuals will discover their love for one another? Readers of Wanda Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter will enjoy their latest book, The Farmers' Market Mishap. I would like to see another book about Elma and Thelma to see where they are in life and how the store is changing.

I received an ARC of The Farmer’s Market Mishap from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, but have expressed my honest thoughts.

Another nice story of twins Elma and Thelma.
I thought this book was ok but I think it might be generated towards the youth more than adults.
There are some cute scenes in the book but I think my most favorite was when everyone gathered to help out the less fortunate.
Another favorite was when Elma finally figured out what was right in front of her all along despite Thelmas selfiness at first.
It's too bad a dog had to get involved but you know what? I believe that dogs somehow sense and know things that we don't.
I'm going to have to love Hunter because he knew what he was doing all along!!! My hero!!! Not people hero this time but dog hero!!
Way to go Hunter!!!!
I received a complimentary copy from from Netgalley and was in no way required to review this book
Thanks Wanda for another great story!!!!

Thelma is expecting a baby and Elma is running their store and hoping for romance. When Ben shows some interest in Elma, Del begins to have second thoughts that maybe he shouldn’t have ended their relationship months earlier. But Ben and Elma live in different towns, and neither is inclined to move. They are going to need a push to get together, and readers will probably guess what that catalyst turns out to be. The story is a bit slow moving at times, and the characters could have been a bit better developed. Sometimes, they acted more like teens than adults. But it was a nice story, and it certainly got the most interesting close to the conclusion.

A light and very predictable novel, with the usual angst and then a HEA. Christian, but not overly so, and this will make for a please read for all denominations.

A very sweet read and a good escape for someone like me who usually reads books with grittier topics and heroines.

A light and easy read.
I enjoyed The Lopsided Christmas Cake .
This was so enjoyable and relaxing . I loved seeing the twins interact with each other along with Joseph. I thought the story had good flow and the characters were good.
A spilled basket of apples at the Farmers' market with Ben & Elma got the sparks flying.
They start learning to trust God.

The continuing story of Elma and Thelma. Thelma is married and expecting a baby. Elma still lives alone across the street from Thelma and still runs her grandparents store after both Sister inherit the store. Elma finds that she is needing help with in the store and hires Lizzie. Lizzie is little help but she does enjoy talking. Delbert who once dated Elma but they are different as night and day.
Elma decides to take some produce to the farmers market to sell. While there she meets Ben who has his own mishap with a basket of fruit at Elma's table. Later both Ben and Elma can't stop thinking of each other but the one thing that holds them back is that Elma will not leave Topeka and Ben will not leave his home town. What would you do in this situation?
Ben's dog disappears while making a delivery of flowers and ends up at Delbert's house. Not finding the owner Delbert gives the dog to Elma. She names him Freckles (Ben calls him Hunter). Needless to say that Elma tells Ben she can not see him. Her sister has twins and a disaster happens. While helping at the disaster Freckles/Hunter gets out and when Elma sees Ben at the disaster she and Ben realize they both know the same dog. Will a dog finally bring them together or will they part ways. I was very pleased with this book and hope that there will be a 3rd book to Elma and Thelma's story. Found myself laughing, crying and cheering while reading this book.

Thank you so much Wanda for another wonderful book.

t I have one issue with this book: Coconut oil, coconut sugar, and gluten-free are touted to be healthier for you than regular products. Now I agree we could all do with less sugar, but coconut oil and coconut sugar are not better choices. And eating gluten-free without a valid health reason is unecessary. (There are no health benefits to eating gluten-free unless of course you have celiac disease.)
Other than this gripe, it was a very enjoyable book.

When Elma went to the farmers market with Thelma and Joseph her life will change. Ben is surprised when he meets Elma. Watching these two become friends with a long distance relationship is truly remarkable. The characters in this book are all very special people. You will feel God working throughout this whole story.

Elma wants to be married, she wants the life her twin sister has, including the coming boppli. She can't bear to move away from her sister and from her general store that she inherited from her grandparents. This is the beginning of The Farmer's Market Mishap by Wanda Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter.

The two authors have put together a book with parallel stories that collide at the Farmer's Market. Elma's sister wants her to marry Delbert--a man she courted before with no results. Benjamin Wagler's mother wants him to marry a local girl, but the mishap at the Farmer's Market puts Ben and Elma together in a way that thwarts everyone's efforts to bring them together with other people. But it is a dog that cements their relationship forever.

It's been a number of years since I've read a Wanda Brunstetter book, but this was a nice reintroduction to her writing and I thoroughly enjoyed it. She's taken out the smarmy sweetness and added a reality that gives a new realism to her books. Five Stars, Two Thumbs Up, and a bushel of vegetables from the Farmer's Market

My thanks to Barbour Books (Shiloh Run Press) for allowing me to read and review this book.

While The Farmers' Market Mishap is a sequel to The Lopsided Christmas Cake, it can be read as a stand-a-lone novel; however, I do not recommend doing so because the reader will miss a great novel written by Wanda Brunstetter and her daughter-in-law, Jean. It is a delightful introduction into the lives of twins, Elma and Thelma Hochstetler.
A chance meeting brings Elma Hochstetler and Ben Wagler together. Elma is the twin sister of Thelma Hochstetler who married in The Lopsided Christmas Cake. Expecting her first boppli (baby), Thelma is unable to help her sister in their store as much as both of them would like and Elma is feeling a bit lonesome for her sister. A stray dog provides some companionship but it is just not the same as the closeness she and her sister once had when they lived and worked together in the shop. Ben Wagler lives over 50 miles away but he just cannot get sweet Elma out of his mind.
Once again, Wanda and Jean provide a delightful story of the everyday life of twins Elma and Thelma. As always, the story is heartwarming and there are no complicated plots to try to follow. I highly recommend The Farmers' Market Mishap!

I was so glad to read this sequel to The Lopsided Christmas Cake, as I wanted to see Elma find her happiness like Thelma did. Through mishaps, a dog named Hunter/Freckles, a tornado, etc can True love find a way? You must read to find out. This is an enjoyable, easy read for a relaxing day. I especially love the dog and how he brings the characters together. Wanda and Jean Brunstettler have a way of weaving, faith, love, friendship, community, and humor into entertaining read.

This was a quick, easy, and fun read for me. I loved seeing how Elma and Thelma lived their lives apart, yet still seeing each other as often as they could. It's not too often that you see stories of Amish women in their thirties and not married yet, so seeing Elma that old surprised me. But it was a great reminder that love comes in God's timing, not ours. Just because you're Amish doesn't mean you're married by age twenty like a lot of people think!

I thought that Ben and Elma's story was sweet, but I almost wanted to see a little bit more of their interactions. Even so, they were such a cute couple, neither understanding how difficult it would be for them to move their entire life if the relationship continued. But perhaps that was the whole point of the story. Would you be willing to leave everything you've ever known for love? I imagine that would be extremely difficult.

What I enjoyed most about this was Elma's time at the store. She had to make some tough decisions and it was nice to see her making them and defending no matter what others thought. This was really the only time she did things without worrying about others. The rest of the time she was always putting others before herself, especially when it came to her relationship with Ben. I liked seeing that side of her character.

If you are looking for a nice, light hearted read, then I suggest you check this out. Make sure you etch out plenty of time to read, as you may find yourself reading it all at once like me! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

In this delightful sequel to The Lopsided Christmas Cake by Wanda E. and Jean Brunstetter, we join twins Elma and Thelma once again as they try to navigate life apart. Thelma, now married to Joseph, is expecting their first boppli. Elma, still single, is trying to manage running a household alone and care for their store while Thelma rest and runs her home.
Elma loves her sister but often wishes she was married and expecting as well. She tries hard not to be jealous and directs her emotions into making the store great. Thelma wants nothing but Elma to find happiness and pushes hard for her sister and Delbert to start courting once again. Elma wants nothing more than to find love and get married, but does she really want it with Delbert? It didn’t really work out so well the first go around.
When Elma unexpectedly meets a handsome Ben Wagler at the farmer’s market, a new hope begins to take hold. The only obstacle is that he can’t leave his home as he is caring for his mother and running a business and she knows that she can’t leave her beloved twin behind or her grandparent’s legacy. Just when the end appears, Ben makes a sacrifice so grand that Elma can’t help but accept.
This was a quick read, but that was in part to the fact that I just couldn’t put it down! As always, the characters were well developed and had such emotion and depth, the reader just couldn’t help but fall in love with them. I can honestly say, that I am expecting another book to find out what the future has in store for Ben and Elma after they are wed.

I received a complimentary ebook copy from the publisher and NetGalley in return for providing my honest opinion.

I hadn't read the first book in this series, The Lopsided Christmas Cake, but it was easy to catch up on the twin sisters' story without it. This is a pleasant, two-dimensional tale with a predictable ending - perfect for those times you need a gentle story without drama and angst. This would also be an appropriate book for younger readers interested in Amish fiction.

I felt a bit frustrated with the family dynamics in this story - Thelma seemed very selfish to expect her twin sister Elma to give up her hopes for happiness in order to help with her young family. And Ben's mother was over-the-top interfering when she kept trying to set him up with Martha, or derail his interest in Elma. I was relieved that eventually they both stood up for themselves, though not without some help from an unexpected quarter (woof!). I also felt that the authors used some unusual circumstances to push Ben and Elma together (car crashing into her store, tornado, etc) that made the story seem less believable to me; I prefer more everyday experiences that I can identify with. Overall, this is a clean and easy read that will satisfy fans of Wanda Brunstetter.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Who knew that setting up a little stand at the neighboring farmers market and in Shipshewana could make for a particular encounter for the possibility of a romantic interest? It's fruit after all! However, Ben and Elma hit it off, but there are problems and it isn't just one.. Ben lives so far away and Elma won't leave her twin sister, Thelma it just won't happen, especially since Thelma is expecting. This book is headed for disaster and so is this couple. Will this couple make choices that will forever change their lives or will they go their own separate ways? I particularly enjoy the element of faith that Wanda includes in all of her novels. I give this book 5/5 stars. A favorable review was not required and I was given a copy by the author.
