What a powerful read, From the very first page. Scott lets us know that it's okay to be Uncommon and live a different life as Christians we are to do this. Scott gives you great advice on how to do this and lets us know it's okay. Stand out from the crowd and be proud to.

You will love the personal stories that Scott shares with us. This is a much need read for ALL of us.

I held on to every word and let is sink in. Scripture is all through this book and it is so easy to understand what Scott is saying.

This book gives you the opportunity to be a life changer. And this book gives you the power to change.

I really feel like everyone needs to read this book.

Uncommon: Pursuing a Life of Passion and Purpose is a book that every woman should read. How do we live our lives and show our faith on a daily basis? Are we afraid to show our faith to others? How can we share our passion for God? This book has reminders of ways to be bold in sharing our faith and ways to encourage others. The author refers to stories in the Bible of women who shared their faith by words and actions. Excellent book. I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

I could not really get into the book, so I did not finish it. There was nothing wrong with the book. I think that it could be very helpful to some people. It's inspirational/encouraging for women. I just felt like there was nothing being said that I didn't know or already felt in my own life. I would recommend it for women who do need encouragement and inspiration.

"Uncommon: Pursuing a Life of Passion and Purpose" by Author Carey Scott is a 244 page paperback book published July 1, 2017 from Barbour Publishing, Inc. This Christian women's book's back cover says it is "a battle cry for women to step out of the ordinary and live differently. It's a blueprint for a life full of passion and purpose. And it has the power to change everything."

This nineteen chapter book is geared toward young women, but ladies of any age will glean something from it. "Uncommon" is an encouraging and delightful book. It is excellently written. Chapters focus on courage, faith, forgiveness, generosity, kindness, love, obedience, prayer, morality, and why the world needs you to be uncommon (my favorite one of the nineteen), among others. Subjects are all interesting, relevant, and things Christian women need in their lives. The author wants to teach young women to stand out in faith. Be uncommon, live life differently is the author's theme. She wants readers to cease worrying about what others think.

Scripture is heavily laced throughout this inspiring book. Beginning each chapter is a Bible verse relating to the topic followed by explanation and a lesson. Examples of biblical women and their stories are next followed by "Lean into Him (scripture), Look into you (questions), and Live Uncommon (prayer)". This helps to dig deeper and really learn. In the Kindness chapter one question is "Are you a kind person for the right reason?" The questions are meant to do some soul searching. The author encourages readers to praise and worship God. She also states the need for prayer and how essential prayer time is. Every chapter is a positive reenforcement for readers of something we should know but may have forgotten because of how busy life has gotten.

Uncommon is a well written, organized, and well researched book. The chapters are easy to follow. The author has a nice style of writing. It is almost as if she is sitting chatting with readers. Women will find it relatable and inspiring. It definitely was written to bring women closer to God and glorify Him. Using personal stories, scripture, humor, and encouragement, Author Scott teaches women how to stand apart from this world and live for God. In her last chapter she even briefly discusses the mess Americans have made of their relationships during and after the election. That Issue is heavy on my heart. She states "Even now, several weeks after the election, we are still screaming at one another."

"Uncommon: Pursuing a Life of Passion and Purpose" is a book that every woman will enjoy reading and should read. It provides information that is biblically based that encourages us to help others, forgive, be kind evangelize, and worship. It is a wonderful book for any woman, woman's group, or church library. I highly recommend it and give it a 5 star rating. I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

". . . you cannot live extraordinary when you live in the bondage of ordinary. You weren't created to survive. You were created to thrive." (20)

What does it mean to be uncommon or "pursue a life of passion and purpose"? Carey Scott shared exactly what it means in Uncommon, and what a powerful call-to-action and self-reflection this book is. Insightful in purposeful living in what we're called to do in faith and as Christians, the author touched on topics of courage, obedience, forgiveness, grace, prayer and what it means to be uncommon and extraordinary.

"When we invite Him into our broken places, we experience freedom. The chains that have held us hostage fall away. . . when we choose to walk away from them in our God-given freedom - freedom to believe we're good, lovable, and worthy, freedom from worrying if we have what it takes to be the woman God created us to be, freedom from being consumed by what others think of us, freedom from trying to fit into the world's ways - we can live uncommon. God is the key."(19)

I find the author's writing style friendly and not at all preachy. Refreshing and down-to-earth, Uncommon talks to each of us sisters-in-Christ with genuine love. I enjoyed every word in this book, and in honesty, it took some time to finish it. Not because it was dry or even boring. It took time because it was filled with such insight, wisdom and common sense, that it required a lot of thought. Self-reflecting about my choices and how I live my life as God had called me to.

"Uncommon living doesn't mean we won't struggle. It doesn't mean we'll never be tempted. . . (or) royally mess up . . . nor does it mean we will always make the best choices or that our lives will always point others to God. Remember, living uncommon isn't about perfect living. It's about purposeful living."(240)

Uncommon is one of those books that once you pick up, you can't let go. It's one of those books that will stay with you for a long time, if not your whole life. It's one of those books you want to shout at the top of your lungs for your friends to consider reading. It's also one that would be a great small group discussion book or a book club. Either way, Uncommon is aptly named, even if it's not talking about the book itself but what God called us to be.

"He exchanges our ordinary for extraordinary. . . That's what happens when we give God permission to use our story. . . But it's a choice - every day and in every situation. Being uncommon takes guts and grit and a willingness to surrender." (15)

So what is your choice? Are you willing to choose to surrender?

Much needed topic for woman today. In this book, the author shares with us the battle cry to answer the call placed in us by our Creator and that is to live UNCOMMON, to draw from God's strength and to live with passion and purpose. And I ask you what woman (or man) doesn't want that. This book will awaken that desire with in you, I found myself saying yes I want that as I began reading this book. And I want that for my family, my friends. Using examples of woman in the BIble, each chapter highlights a different quality of the UNCOMMON woman.. For example, in the chapter on Uncommon Courage, the author uses the example of Esther who displayed extreme courage to say her people.

And in this way, you will see these woman from the BIble in a different light. I loved how the author shined the light on each of these extraordinary woman in the BIble and brought how they were Uncommon in some way and how we can choose to be Uncommon. I have read these woman's stories many times over, but in the book I saw them with new eyes. But the author doesn't stop there, she pulls out the lessons that we are practically apply to our lives today.

In fact, each chapter will highlight a different quality of the Uncommon woman, share one of more examples from Scripture, and then end with a section entitled "Lean into Him" where she shares relevant Bible verse, followed by application questions entitled "Look in you" and ending with a prayer for the reader to pray on that topic. This format is powerful and relevant. My favorite chapter was UNCOMMON Gratitude as it really spoke to where I am in life at this point and it highlighted the need to choose praise even when facing life's toughest battles. One quote from that chapter is that "Praise is the most powerful weapon in our arsenal"

My favorite quote from the book is "Crossroads of questioning God and trusting God - fear becomes hope, anger becomes resolve, questions become praise". I don't know about you but I'm standing at those crossroads and I want to answer the call to be Uncommon.

The only criticism I can offer is that the Scriptures are in the more modern translations and I prefer the KJV version so I struggled to even recognize the Scriptures that are prevalent in the chapters. I know that for some the modern translations might be preferred and that is fine, it was just a stumbling block for me.

It can be a struggle in this world to be a Christian to a world that seems full of hate and/or selfish, but when you are in the Word and growing a relationship with our Father God, you will see His beauty and the need to share His message. That is what this book shares. Carey tackles issues us women deal with today, using scripture and biblical stories of women from the Bible. At the end of each chapter is scripture to focus on and memorize, questions to study with and prayer. May we be strong in our faith to not be common like the world but uncommon because that is what we as Christians are called to be in this world, salt-seasoning. As Carey stated in her book, "72% of Americans believe our morals are in decline." She states..."The Bible is very clear about how we are to live and how we are not...the Bible is an all-inclusive blueprint for now to do life." These words stir my soul "When you become a believer you choose to exchange these ways/worlds way for HIS ways. God doesn't expect us to do it perfectly, but HE is hoping you do it purposefully. God's Spirit is the one who calls us to live better and gives us the ability to do so." I so believe that! I want to be uncommon! "HE wants us to be different in how we run our families, ministries, community groups, and companies." "Truth is as Jesus followers we won't always make sense to the world. We weren't designed to fit in here. Instead, we were designed to shine Jesus into the world. Our job is to listen to what God wants us to do, even if it's not what the worlds thinks we should." No wonder I feel like a black-sheep some days and maybe you do too? So if we’re going to be women with uncommon wisdom, we have to ask God for it. Because He is the only source of it.

“As an uncommon woman, you will find yourself:

1. relying on God above all else

2. full of hope in the hard places

3. standing up for what’s right

4. holding on to joy no matter what

5. able to step out of your comfort zone

6. willing to risk your reputation

7. resolved to not give up or give in

8. untangled from your past failures, fears and insecurities

9. capable of looking past your circumstances

10. understanding there is a calling on your life

11. trusting the plan and ways of God.”

Uncommon is a blueprint, a bugle and a battle cry, issuing a clarion call to women to be uniquely different, and make a giant leap into an extraordinary life, full of perseverance, passion and purpose. Carey Scott highlights this point with Biblical heroines, who lived uncommon lives in the toughest circumstances, teaching us to live life God’s way, imbued by His strength. God asks us to be His beacons and shine His light into the world, in uncommon, exemplary, radical obedience to the One who is Himself extraordinary.

With vulnerable authenticity and uncommon boldness, this book empowers us to embrace our calling and lead others to God. Be uncommon and leap aboard the bandwagon of faith. Stand out in faith and neither give up nor give in. Let your faith shine to lead others to Christ. Praise draws us closer to God to get the strength to face the trials of life. Uncommon teaches us to live life uncommonly. Carrey Scott addresses real struggles women face daily, like unconditional forgiveness and the courage to face the most difficult trials. Carey encourages us to live uncommon lives, to be kind, generous, loving and forgiving, to have faith in God to achieve the impossible. In each chapter is a personal reflection, stories from the Bible, Scripture, a personal challenge, and a prayer. It is a daily quiet time guide and daily devotional in the study of uncommon womanhood.

This book is true to its name. It is uncommon to surrender when the world calls you to conform. Carey takers us on a unique study of boldness in faith, to discover our own passion and be imbued with a renewed, revived and rejuvenated trust in God's Word. It is not easy to be uncommon and to take the giant leap of faith to follow God's path. We must live out our faith in such a way that it sets us apart, consecrated for God. We must learn how to be uncommon in every aspect of life. God is uncommon, and as we are made in His image, we are uncommon too. We must apply God's word in every area of our lives and trust Him always. "Uncommon" fills us with God's unconditional love, to inspire us to become the most uncommon women ever.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”

I would go one step further to say that to be a true disciple of Christ in a world that wants anything BUT that, is an incredible accomplishment.

I was recently given an advance reader copy of “Uncommon: Pursuing a Life of Passion and Purpose” by Carey Scott. I had read her first book “Untangled” and knew I needed to read this, her second, book.

Upon initial hearing, the word ‘uncommon’ doesn’t seem like an adjective I would like used with my name. However, after exploring Carey Scott’s perspective, I believe being called ‘uncommon’ would be a high honor.

Carey offers real world, practical advice for those of us struggling with how to walk out our faith in a world which would like nothing more than to stifle it.

Each chapter highlights an ‘Uncommon’ virtue such as courage, gratitude, love, prayer, and more.

In the chapter covering Uncommon Courage, Carey gives us Esther as a biblical example. Carey demonstrates how Esther’s unwavering courage was uncommon for the time and how God rewarded this.

In the chapter covering Uncommon Leadership, Carey offers Deborah as a biblical example. Deborah’s leadership was certainly uncommon for the time. There had not been a woman in a leadership position before now. She was respected and revered. And this was uncommon.

Carey not only gives us biblical examples of these uncommon virtues, she also grants us a peek into her life. She relates to us, her readers, situations and circumstances in her own life which have required the uncommon virtues she writes about.

From the wisdom Carey Scott offers here, I know this will be a book I refer back to in the future while continuing my walk with Christ. I hope you find this resource as encouraging and helpful as I have.

I received this book from the publisher for review. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Uncommon-The Pursuing a life of passion and purpose by Carey Scott.

We meet Carey Scott, a young woman who has been hit with almost everything. She was told her has ovarian cancer, but by God's grace and gentle hand was healed by a miracle the cancer was gone. This made her think about how it is to be uncommon and write this awesome book.

Through out the book we take a look at several uncommon virtues and Biblical women who were not the norm during their time or even today. Carey wants us to see that it is important to stand fast in your feelings and moral rights when all about you are losing their minds. That reminds me of the poem If by Rudyard Kipling. ("If you can keep your head, when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, and make allowance for their doubting too...."  That's all I remember. lol)

She mentions how people today are scared to speak up for their opinion. The world does want you to shush today. She mentions the last Presidential election and how people are still fighting. Does this have to continue? No, we must strive to be uncommon and voice our opinion and also listen to others reasonably.  Being Uncommon is tough stuff, but in the end God will reward you.

I wasn't sure what to think about this book when I first received it from the great Barbour Publishers. I thought "okay, what's this book going to tell me?" Instead this was a good application book and I even felt sad sometimes, because how true the stuff was being said. There were a lot of truths mentioned. It's a very moving book and every though provoking.

I really think this book would be great for a Bible study in a church. It's a lot to cover, but I think it would be well worth it.

We live in a society that often frowns upon someone who looks and acts in a different way. We women are encouraged to conform to certain expectations and we are often expected to be part of the common majority. Author Carey Scott has written a book that tells us just the opposite. She wants us to be 'Uncommon' and pursue 'a life of passion and purpose'. She wants us to stand out and let our light shine to "bring out the God-colors of this world" and she urges us to be the "salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth". Reading this book has led me to question my own life. Am I devoting enough time to studying God's Word? Do I talk with Him as often as I should? Does my life speak to others and show them that I am a Christian through my witness and not just my words? Am I worthy to be called uncommon?

Carey Scott has written such a powerful resource for all of us to use. I appreciate that many of the nineteen chapters end in the same way. She includes multiple scriptures that pertain to that chapter topic; she challenges each reader with questions about their own personal Christian life and she offers a prayer that will help each of us in our efforts to become uncommon. I was also impressed with the vast number of Biblical women she used to strengthen her theories. Many were well known but all of the women mentioned were pillars of faith and none of them were common!

I recommend 'Uncommon: Pursuing a Life of Passion and Purpose' to women of all ages and I think that it would be a wonderful book for women's fellowship groups.

My gracious I love this new book by author Carey Scott. I love it because it challenges me everyday to live differently, to choose to live Uncommon. This book is a standout from the  white noise that can be Christian Living books. It is the perfect summer read for a mental reset and a refocusing of life in all areas. I highly recommend this book to any woman who feels like she is stuck and desperate for some encouragement.

Uncommon addresses many of the real struggles women face everyday: forgiveness, kindness, leadership, and courage. No matter where you are in your walk with God, there is something in this book for you. Author Carey Scott spends each chapter encouraging us to live uncommon. To be generous, forgiving, loving, kind and to have faith to name just a few of the topics she covers in this book. In each chapter you will find her personal reflection, stories from the Bible, scripture, a personal challenge, and a prayer.  I couldn't have stumbled upon a better daily quiet time guide. It isn't a Bible study, but you certainly could use it as one.

I first stumbled upon author Carey Scott on her blog, careyscott.org. I have always found her writing to be so practical and challenging. This new book releases in July, but it can be preordered now! You should check it out! Because I already knew and was confident in Carey Scott I requested an advanced copy of this book.  I was so excited to read it! I am so glad I did! I was not required to give this book a positive review and I was not compensated in any way.

If you've been looking for an author that writes to your heart, than you may have found her here in "Uncommon: Pursuing a Life of Passion and Purpose"

Carey Scott has written a book that says to us, it's okay to be 'Uncommon' God created each of us in His own image yet created us each with unique qualities in which we can stand out from the ordinary cookie cutter version of everyone else
She includes multiple scriptures that pertain to that chapter topic; she challenges each reader with questions that make you ponder your own personal Christian life .along with a prayer that will help each of us in our efforts to become Uncommon. She writes in each
chapter sections titled "Lean into Him” “Look into You” and “Live Uncommon”. The scriptures, the questions and the prayer really helped me to dig a little deeper into who I was created to be. She takes you on a journey and on the way this book will delight you ,it will challenge you and encourage you.
This is a book you read through and want to read it again. You'll want to share it. Great for a bible study. I was given a pre release copy of this book and was under no obligation to write a favorable review. I recommend this book as a must read for every woman.

Un-Common Pursuing a Life of Passion and Purpose – Carey Scott

I couldn’t wait to write about this book. I think the more “politically correct” people are, the less willing people are to step out of their comfort zones. Let’s face it if you are married, have a few kids, work, serve AT church – who really has time in their lives to actually step into the HOT MESSES of life. If we are all truthful we have been a part of some messes.
“God has a perfect track record in your life. Here’s what that does not mean: 1) Life is pain-free. 2) Life is easy. 3) God will do what you want, when you want it.” Love these words of truth. People don’t discuss the hard – especially if it is embarrassing. “Your faith doesn’t grown by chance but by choice.” OH MY WORD! LOVE THIS TRUTH! And sometimes…the choice is hard. The choice can be uncomfortable.
I am not quite done with the book, but know that I will finish it. We all need to grow in our faith. We all need to step out of what is common.
This book is well written, thought provoking, and challenging. It is so rich and good!

I received an ARC from the author and willingly choose to review it.

In Carey's book I learned what it means to be uncommon in every aspect of my life. Because God is uncommon, and we are made in his image we are uncommon too. We just have to believe and apply God's word in every area of our life. We have to learn to trust HIM with the small things, as well as, the big things in our life.

Reading uncommon, instilled in me things that I knew, but somehow had failed to put into practice. Each chapter in the book touches on a different area of our life we can excel in, being the uncommon woman we were meant to be; faith, courage, forgiveness, gratitude, kindness, love, etc. Carey speaks in a straightforward way, backing each chapter with biblical verse and uncommon examples. She also reflects her own experiences, which touches your heart in a personal way.

Anyone struggling with their walk with God, or someone who hasn't found HIM yet, can benefit from reading Uncommon. The book will touch your heart from beginning to end. I found myself being grateful to know God and know that he loves us all unconditionally. The book has inspired me to try harder to be the most uncommon woman I can be.

Uncommon

Pursuing a Life of Passion and Purpose
by Carey Scott

Barbour Publishing, Inc.

Shiloh Run Press
Christian

Pub Date 01 Jul 2017

I am reviewing a copy of Uncommon through Barbour Publishing Inc, and Netgalley:

Uncommon teaches young women to stand out in faith. It reminds us that being Uncommon means we do life differently. We are reminded too of the importance of not giving up, not giving in and Carey Scott points out too that we can't achieve living an Uncommon Life if we are constantly worrying about what others think about.

We are reminded too that now more than ever we need to let our faith shine, that we need to lead by example.

The author points out too that Praise brings us closer to God, and that praise brings positivity. We are reminded too that we don't thank God for the tragedies in life, but for giving us the strength to get through them.

Carey Scott reminds us of the importance of spending time in the word. We as Christians need to show uncommon kindness. In this book Carey Scott encourages her readers to find freedom in Forgiveness.

I give Uncommon five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

I have been on a self-help, motivational, spiritual, philosophical, etc. reading frenzy.....grabbing anything that I can get my hands on that falls into these genres. I seek positivity and strength via reading from all wonderful books that can provide that. I was excited to read Uncommon: Pursuing A Life Of Passion And Purpose.

For one....LOVED the cover. Simplistic....beautiful. I was so careful not to destroy my book as I read it.

Next...the content. Thought provoking, relative to the things I needed to hear in my life, a book filled with mantras for women to pursue everything extraordinary in your life instead of remaining complacent and always living in regret. So motivational....absolutely inspirational.....a book that you could read to coincide with bible study. I needed a book like this and now I am glad to own it.

Carey Scott did exceptional work on this book and I am interested to read more from her.

Thanks as always to the great peeps of goodreads, Carey Scott, and to Shiloh Ruin Press for my free copy of this wonderful book in exchange for an honest review to which I gladly and voluntarily gave.

Un-common is a book I recommend to all women who want to live a life grounded in God’s Word and to follow the lives modeled by women in the Bible. Carey Scott also uses Scripture to not only encourage but to challenge us to be different as the Lord leads and works in each person’s life. The author is also very honest in sharing her own experiences.

I love the challenges Un-common gives women. We must dare to be different, to be a light to everyone we meet and in every situation we find ourselves. That includes not only our daily life at home with family, but outside the home and everyone we come in contact with.

After reading Un-common, I find myself asking, “How can I respond in an uncommon way?” In the last chapter of the book, Carey states, “And with the Holy Spirit as your guide, you can do hard things.” So, no matter what my circumstance, my goal is to be that uncommon woman.

Carey Scott presents a challenge in UnCommon to see what it looks like to live an uncommon life. To live with purpose and passion! A life where others will see Jesus because of choosing an Uncommon life. In Christ we are called to be anything but common and Scott leads us to consider how that can be lived out. I just name a few of the nineteen chapters of her book where she challenges us to a life of uncommon courage, uncommon faith, uncommon forgiveness, uncommon generosity, uncommon gratitude and uncommon wisdom. Each chapter has a section, Lean Into Him, with Bible verses to remind us of truths we need to know. She uses examples of real lives today to teach us and then takes a woman from the Bible who lived the uncommon life to discuss each subject.
I would recommend this book UnCommon to any woman of any age who wants a serious relationship with Jesus Christ. It is truly a five star rating I give this book.

Being normal is definitely overrated. Choosing to be un-common is the best way to live our lives. We are not called to a life of striving for perfection, instead we are called to a life of passion and purpose.

The author shared some of the most difficult times in her life and how she found the path to living a God honoring life.

Through lessons and accounts found in the Bible and real-life personal experiences, the author gave sound, practical advice as to how to live in an un-common way.

Each chapter was quite excellent, but I think my favorite was the one called Uncommon Generosity. In it, she explained the Ministry of Presence, my favorite ministry. Being present with folks can mean taking care of a sick friend, helping others move into a new home or babysitting for new moms.

Such an excellent book! I strongly encourage you to read this book and accept the challenge to lead an uncommon life.

Ideal book for a study group

I really liked how each chapter was put together; highlighting particular women of the Bible, how they demonstrated the subject/lesson of that particular chapter, & the Lean Into Him, and Look Into You sections at the end for further study.

I was excited at the number of women included in this book that I hadn't previously given much thought to. I see their contributions with new eyes, and for that alone the book was worth the read.

Although the passion of the author is clearly evident, and her enthusiasm is unmistakable, her style of writing was not always a good read for me. Be prepared to be told to put your "big girl pants" on repeatedly. When a particular bit of wisdom, or Biblical truth is about to be revealed, she will ask "Ready?". Although I appreciate it's use in a presentation, eighteen chapters of being asked if I was ready got annoying, fast.

All in all, I would recommend this book.

Started off the year with this devotional. 10/10 recommend. This is actually the second time I’ve read it; reading it this time I decided to go at a slower pace and really marinate in what I was reading. This is a chapter book style devotion that dives into ways to be an uncommon Christian woman in today’s world—topics include uncommon courage, faith, forgiveness, leadership, obedience, prayer, etc. Each chapter provides the “lesson”, examples of women in the Bible who displayed the uncommon characteristic, scriptures that coordinate with the lesson, questions to consider, and a prayer. This book is targeted towards women but I think the lessons to be learned apply to all—I think this would be a great one to read with a spouse in order to establish a household centered around being an uncommon Christian.

this book should be read by everyone! the scripture, the personal stories of courageous women and the lessons are not only super motivational, but very easy to follow/understand

it’s a call to action, carey scott explains how we should reject the common ways of society and live to point others towards God. our time spent on this earth should be filled with purpose and that purpose is glorifying God. Living uncommon is not always the easy thing to do, but God has placed a call on our lives that needs to be followed. It’s not a calling to be perfect, it’s a calling to live passionately!

“you’re here to be the salt-seasoning that brings out the God flavors of this earth. if you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’re here to be light, bringing out the God colors in the world”

It is amazing how many ways there are to look at becoming an uncommon woman! As I read all 19 chapters, I kept thinking about my own life as well as others' lives and how this book can be used as a tool, perhaps, to restore our passion and purpose in life. I've never been one to try to be like everyone else, so when I read "Uncommon" I felt good about myself. And there were times I realized I need to focus on some other areas.
I appreciated the bible references toward the end of every chapter as well as a prayer.
So all in all, I feel this is a really good book to read carefully, because it is well worth it!

I am so grateful that I am on the journey with this book. A book to be read, re-read, underlined, and margin-noted. Uncommon is powerful, insightful, inspirational, and challenges you to step it up! Carey writes (and feels and thinks) as though she is having a personal conversation with you, and that also makes this a thought provoking learning experience. I loved that! I am a very personal and private person when it comes to my faith. This book is helping me to step out of that very comfy comfort zone, be uncommon, and have important conversations - - that are real, and a wonderful combination of what I am learning, and what I think and know. Thank you Carey, for your raw honesty and for giving me that confidence to be just a little bit more uncommon.

Excellent! So well written and relatable - The best book of this genre that I have read. I believe from failure comes empathy, sympathy, understanding and wisdom. Scott demonstrates her wisdom with grace as she uses scriptures, personal experience, humor and caring to give a blue print for pursuing a life of passion and purpose. The message is clear that you can choose to live an uncommon life rather than fall into the depths of despair that envelops many around us. Certainly a hand up for those who are seeking guidance in a world that is pushing the envelope - in the wrong direction. A good read.

The book "Un-Common, Pursing a Life of Passion and Purpose" has been a great book to read. The author, Carry Scott, has written a book that encourages a person to live an uncommon life. She doesn't lay down a guilt trip to get a person on board. She compels the reader to begin living an uncommon life. She is transparent in her personal stories. She provides scriptures, questions to ponder, and reflections. This is a book that you will want to highlight, make notes in the margins, and take time to really think about if you are living an uncommon life.

What an amazing book!!! Carey Scott is a writer that writes like she is sitting across from you, having a cup of coffee and talking right to you. Uncommon takes every aspect of your life (love, kindness, responsibility, prayer, etc and explains how you can live an uncommon life for God. She sites different people from the Bible and puts real world examples to explain how to live an uncommon life and point your life toward God, and by living your life that way, you can point others towards him. It is a wonderful book! I definitely recommend it!! My favorite quote from the book is this: "Remember, living Uncommon isn't about perfect living. It's about purposeful living." 😊❤️ How true in today's world. Let's all start living uncommon lives and "add flavor and light everywhere we go, and God in heaven will be glorified." ❤️
