My Assessment:

'Sleeping in Sin: The Lesson' was quite a read that will keep the reader turning the pages. The lesson learned in this story is that who in the world would you trust when it came to men that Zikaya cared about? Be ready for twists all over the place, especially regarding Bailey, Jarlath, and Ronnie. This story will have a little storyline from:'love, hate, family issues, enemies, friendships, sex, murder,' and let's not leave out the mystery and drama all over the place. 'Sleeping in Sin: The Lesson' will be a ride that will leave the reader wanting more, and there will be several series until the end. So, be ready for more good reading!

Good read

Very good trauma and drama filled book. A lot has to be said on the incoming series and i hope zakiya finally has an happy ending soon.
So going to go thru life so fast.

(3.5). This was my 1st read by Cornelia Smith. This was a different read...it was almost like 2 stories in one...some of the story was focused on Zakiya who was 1 of 6 sisters from a small town. Good background info given. She was a character that at first I liked, but the more I read about her, the less likable she became. She was quite busy@ age18 -by hitting the lottery for $85,000, graduating high school, moving to NYC, opening up a very successful business, & dating a married man within a matter of months. Although she tried to suppress it, some of her actions towards others proved she was not a nice person.
Khalon, a top notch detective was on the hunt for his childhood friend- Kilo's killer. Although it seemed he had good intentions, he was not the person every thought he was....
Jarlath, a rich mogul, was another I didn't like... Married to a supermodel, he chose to have a relationship with Zakiya even though he stated he was old enough to be her father. He used his wealth & power to control others & was a dangerous man having affiliations with the "illuminati".
Once Jarlath & Zakiya became 1, a big problem arose which was karma & brought to life the title of the story....
This story did have the potential but to me there were unrealistic areas-such as Zakiya being 7 months pregnant & no one could tell, not even her sisters. (They asked if she were a few weeks); Jarlath's wife, Alayne mental instability; & with her notifying Zakiya of his plans to kill her after baby was born; Jarlath & Zakiya getting married without mention of him obtaining a divorce; Khalon- having another identity as Ronnie....
In the end of this first book, I'm hoping Jarlath & Zakiya learned their lesson by sleeping in sin.

Amazing

It's about time! Finally, someone has given me a story. I really appreciated how this author balanced her storyline with fashion, hip hop, and sex. this story was not filled with one meaningless sex scene after another. It was an adventure that kept me wanting to read more. Then, just when I thought things were settling, the adventure was on again. I did find the two male characters to be left as a bit of a mystery. However, the author did leave me wanting more. I am a fan!

This was my first time reading Cornelia Smith's work. I loved it! It's a fast paced novel full of drama and secrets. I found myself speed reading just to see what happened next. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel

Gods read

I enjoyed this story. It involves twist and plots but the story line is good. I'm looking forward to part 2. Interested in reading more from this author.
