'Escape' by 17-year old, Maltese-New Yorker, Corrine Annette Zahra. Meet Tiffany and Minnie who have been living under the evil wrath of their Grandma Crooks and other relatives in a big, creepy house called The Turville's. Their parents had dropped them off six years ago, never to be heard from again. Living with Grandma Crooks is not pleasant, she mistreats and belittles Tiffany. Protective of her little sister, Tiffany always looks out for Minnie’s welfare. When Grandma Crooks summons a demon hound to try and turn Minnie to the dark side, Tiffany and Minnie escape the clutches of their relatives and their adventure to get the remaining pieces of their old life back, begins. Were their parents still alive? Will they ever feel safe and secure again? Any child or young adult with relatives who have betrayed their trust will be able to relate to Tiffany and Minnie’s adventures. A gripping narrative with elements of both sci-fi and horror, where good strives to triumph over evil, makes this book an exciting read. 'Escape' is available in paperback and ebook edition.

I found the concept of a 17-year-old novelling, exciting. The storyline in this mini novel is somehow original - yet, in some places it needed more work. It gave me a day of thinking; about how some concepts could have been described better - but, I have come to realise that mystery in reading is something the modern world lacks. Few are those who manage a gripping cliff hanger. In this respect: this novel left me with a big "read in between the lines" perception. Which felt fine after some consideration. In some other places, grammar needs to be fixed, but it's nonetheless an exciting read through. I do wish we had more young authors around.

Easiest candidate for one of the most enjoyable reads I've came across. Such a pleasant, smooth-sailed story, endowed with the remarkable capability by Zahra to implement realism with paranormality, magic and surrealism... I enjoyed reading this book so much I managed to complete in less than 24 hours - and not in one page I have ever felt bored or distacted. The fact that it's an easy read makes it suitable to people of all age and taste... Given that the author was just 17 years old when her book got published makes me feel related to her style of writing - in this story I've seen reflections of myself when I wrote my own novel, at roughly the same young age... Well done, Zahra! :)
