Husky’s backstory is finished and the gang return to Astaria. As they travel once more, they encounter new faces and challenges as +Anima. We get some hints about Cooro’s past, and I’m excited to see it pan out in the final volume!

Cooro and Husky aren't like other boys. They're anima, children with animal features and qualities. After breaking free of their servitude at a cruel freakshow circus, they go on a journey in search of others like themselves. Cooro is a crow and Husky is a fish. As they travel the world doing good deeds, they recruit a bear boy, a cat woman and a bat girl. Together they get into all kinds of wacky antics while fighting against the oppression their kind faces on a daily basis.

The low rating isn't because this series is bad, it's just extremely cliche and childish in my opinion. I think it would be good for young kids who have no experience reading manga. It's extremely light, simple, easy to follow and doesn't contain anything overly violent, dark or sexual in nature. For someone like me who generally reads books and manga with excessive gore, dark themes and adult content it definitely didn't appeal to me that much, even though I was in the mood to read something lighter than I'm accustomed to.

Not a bad manga, just not for me. Even so, it's undeniably cute and wholesome. I think it would appeal to kids and young girls, especially if they have minimal experience reading manga.

The journey in Sailand concludes but the journey continues back in Astaria where local legends aren't all that they seem to be.

Then, slowly but surely, figures from Cooro's past begin to appear, revealing the mystery behind our happy-go-lucky crow.

And I love that one panel of all of them grown up and living together. So cute~

This series has 10 volumes.

The wrap up to the slavery arc was annoying and frustrating. It's nice to see the lurking threat of the researchers finally take center stage as we near the end

I love these books! They are so adorable and lovable. They are well-thought out and interesting and wonderful. Her characters all seem so real. They all have problems and really specific and personal histories that go back pretty far. Her characters aren't perfect, and she is able to make them come to life and feel like real human beings.
I love the idea behind this manga. I love the idea of being able to transform into an animal and have cool powers and be special. (I wish I could do it. That would be so cool!)
My best friends gave these to me to read. They were the first manga I ever read in my entire life and I didn't get it at first. They had the books and I tried reading it, but I couldn't figure out how to read it backwards, and so the first book they read it out loud to me <3 Aren't they sweet? Anyways, I decided that I wanted to continue reading them online, and I was just planning to just look at +Anima a little bit and I ended up reading like the first 7 books in two days (It would've been sooner except I had school and sleep and whatnot, stupid distractions!)
Senri is my favorite!! He is so adorable! I definitely recommend these books to those who love mangas, and to those who love animals, and to those who love interesting stories. This is a very good series with wonderful writing and amazing art!

In this volume, all of the mysteries and unanswered questions are brought up again in preparation for wrapping up the series. When thinking of the series as a whole, this book would be the steepest part of the incline towards the climax, so it had a lot going on and there were some major cliff hangers in preparation for the final volume. I'm just glad that I had volume ten waiting for me to read the same day.
Anyway, in this volume, the four companions find another winged +anima. He is living on the outskirts of a town pretending to be an angel in order to collect money and food from the townspeople. But when Cooro and the others come, he accuses Cooro of being a messenger of death so that the villagers will drive him out of town.
In another chapter, Cooro finds a girl from his childhood, Lyra, who is now a +anima too. I really liked this part because it shows that we are finally going to find out about Cooro's history. He is the last one of the group who hasn't had his story explained at all. I am really looking forward to finding out his story!

I liked this volume because we finally see Cooro as something other than a carefree glutton. Yes, he has always displayed a care for his friends and even strangers, but he was mostly a dunce. I'm still a bit disappointed in Husky for not even trying to regain his status and his parents, but I can understand how hard that would be to even consider. Nana seems to be growing up a bit because she didn't try to influence Husky's decision, but she is still too much of a girly girl for me. There was a prize simply for running the race for crying out loud! The gang finally meets up with researcher guy (Fly is simply a dopey name if you ask me). Cooro's reaction was really good. I can't see how the others didn't catch on to why he was so cold to Fly and not force Cooro down the path he was trying to avoid. This volume left me really excited for the next one, although I wasn't sure how they could finish the story in a satisfying way in only one volume.

Cooro and the others at last leave Sailand and return to Astaria. When they arrive there, they wind up in a town where a fellow +anima is masquerading as an angel, and the villagers believe and even give offerings! It seems the reason that this +anima guy is acting like an angel has something to do with a traveling performer girl that dresses up like him to put on shows. Can Cooro help this melancholy soul find the happiness he desires?

This volume was very heart-warming just like all the others. It sure was different from where the story was leading to. It's like instead of progressing more, it went backwards, back to the kind of plot it had in the earlier volumes. Strange. Perhaps the author did that so that the story wouldn't become too serious and melancholy. And they also really wanted to do this little tale. :3

This book swept me away to this other wonderful world. The setting was brilliantly set. I could totally see it in my mind. But the characters were definitely my favorite part. They are all so colorful, interesting, exciting, and hilarious. The main character is just perfect. The plot moved fast enough that I couldn't stop reading lest I miss something, but the author still took the time to flesh out the details. The details are what really make or break a story.

I really think that there is something fishy about a series of races for only +anima. (No pun was intended.) How did Cooro become a +anima? His is the only story that has not been told completely. Apparently he caused some jealously among the other children when he was younger, but it was completely unintentional. What did cause him to shift? This will probably be the big finale.

Quick thoughts: The researchers that have been lurking here and there in the background start to take center stage here. We get some background on Fly and more tales about dealing with being an +Anima, then things really pick up in a two-parter that fills in tiny pieces of the back story we've been waiting eight volumes for. Next volume (the series finale) should be quite interesting.

In this volume as Cooro and the gang find themselves around angels and races. And then in the final chapter, we get to see the gang might be leading to the root of where Cooro's +anima originated from.

So this is the 2nd to last volume and I hate to see it end. Love the magic that this series has provided.

One of my favorite aspects of this series is slowly understanding how the characters came to be +Anima and just their background in general, especially Husky and Cooro. I distinctly remember that the last volume made me sob, so I'm worried that might happen again! Pray for me
