Life on the street molds emotional athletes.

Three years ago, her brother’s death marked the beginning of Kendra’s new life, an existence with no home, no family, and no friends. Time in the underground byways toughened her emotional shell with the loose association of like-minded street rats where survival meant compromise and constant vigilance.
Before he died, Billy had sent her a package in care of his teammate, Conner. For Kendra, re-entrance into polite society comes with a deadly price, as betrayal comes from both sides of the grave.
Conner Crofton owns the BDSM club Ambrosia. After failing to protect his teammate on their last covert mission, penance takes form as a promise to safeguard Billy’s little sister, a girl he’d unknowingly remanded to a world of darkness and uncertainty, deception and psychopathic stalkers.
The past will always haunt us. Each must earn forgiveness and trust as passion, guilt, deception, and betrayal, interweave a destiny formed long ago. A romantic suspense with a twist.

Wow, this book. This book is everything the genre should be. It was amazing in so many ways, so much so that I fear I’ll miss half of the things rolling around in my head as I write up a review.

I’ll start by saying I have never before read a book by the author. Carnal Obsession: His Heart’s Prisoner is part of the Carnal series, being book number four, but it works just fine as a standalone novel. Carnal Beginnings, Carnal Innocence, and Carnal Whispers are now on my want to read list, but they are not necessary to understand this story. I admit that they will aid in the understanding of characters seen in this book, as the stories are linked through the characters, but it’s not the end of the world if – like me – you have not read the prior books. I could very well retract that statement at a later date, once I have read the prior books, but at the moment I’m going to stand by my statement of how you do not need to read the prior books.

At first I was somewhat taken aback by this book. Quite often I find these romantic suspense books mixed with erotica can be rather… well, poorly written. If not poorly written, then there is no real feel of individual style. I’m not saying I dislike the genre – I love it, in fact – however I very rarely stumble upon a voice that really stands out. For me, the story telling really grabbed me from the start. I love prose that stand out, writing styles that are clearly individual, and such is the case here. The writing style really pulled me in, standing out beyond what I’m accustomed to reading. I mean no offence to other writers in the genre – I will always enjoy the genre, no matter what – but this book really did stand out in terms of writing style. At no point did the book feel like a chore, at no point was I groaning at analogies that erred towards being cringe worthy.

In addition to the writing being wonderful, the story was brilliant. It pulled me in from the very start, leaving me unable to put it down. It was one of those situations where I decided to forego sleep, spending the night up reading the book. This is why you do not start books between two and three in the morning: you’re signing up to sacrifice your sleep, especially when a book is as addictive as this one. From the very start the action pulls you in, refusing to let up as events slowly unfold before your eyes. You’re constantly questioning people and motives, unsure of what is the truth of the situation. You’ll come up with ideas but things are murky throughout, ensuring you’re never quite sure about who can and cannot be trusted.

Then there’s the characters. Oh boy did I love them. The interaction between the two main characters was wonderful – ensuring you were hooked to that part of the storyline as well. Truthfully, I think I was more addicted to seeing how their interactions would pan out than I was in seeing the suspense aspect come together – and I can tell you that the latter certainly had a tight grip on me. Honestly, it’s been so long since I found myself so engaged in characters. I shipped them hard; I can tell you that for a fact. The tension and build-up was wonderful, every moment leaving me wanting more.

It wasn’t simply the main characters I fell in love with, however. I adored all the brothers, hence why I’m so eager to get my hands on the prior books. The interaction between the brothers is so fun to watch, the banter being great fun to read. I cannot wait to get my hands on the prior books to see more of this kind of interaction, as my biggest disappointment from the book was that there was a surprisingly small amount of this banter. When it happened it was wonderful, but I constantly found myself wanting more of it.

The only other complaint I have, which is small, is regarding the action scenes. I felt as though the events at the end of the book were over much too quickly. It was a wonderful ending, I really enjoyed the way things played out, but I wanted to read more of it. It’s only a small thing, but it stopped me from giving this book a full five star rating (this is partly because I’m exceptionally harsh when it comes to giving out five stars and so very rarely do so) but it is a very strong four-point-five read.

Overall, as you can see, I adored this book. I would like to say the biggest thank you to the author for allowing me to advance read this one. It was brilliant, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the other Carnal books!

Kendra is scraping by while living on the street. Making ends meet doing odd jobs and playing in a band with her friends. She gets a gig at an exclusive club, but gets thrown for a loop when she meets up with her old (and apparently still very current) crush and her brother's best friend, Connor. Finding out he is the owner of the BDSM Club is hard for Kendra to swallow. Coming face to face with her past is also difficult, as her past is the reason she ran and is now living on the streets.

Connor promised Kendra's brother Billy that he would take care of her. Now three years later he has finally found her. She has been in the wind since her brother's death, but now he is not letting her go. Just getting the fiery minx to do what he says will be the challenge. Kendra has never listed to him. She has always been like a little sister. But Kendra is not all grown up and there is a very serious threat against Kendra. Connor must keep Kendra safe while fighting his feelings for Kendra and deflecting her advances at the same time.

Carnal Obsession was a quick read that had an air of mystery, deceit, sexual tension, some action, and some erotica. The overall premise of the book was good. However, I think that that book needed a little more focus on the relationship build with Kendra and Connor. There were a few things in the book that seemed unanswered or were addressed abruptly given the initial attention in the book. Personally, I could have done without the threat to Kendra and had a lot more focus on Connor winning over Kendra. However, the book was enjoyable and an entertaining read.

Carnal Obsession by Reily Garrett

I have mixed thoughts on this book.
For once, I tried to steer away from BDSM books because they are just too much for my taste, except for Fifty Shades Trilogy which was my first, but that doesn’t affect my review for this book.

Characters
I wanted to like the characters, but I find Kendra a bit annoying. At first she seemed like a tough girl who lived in the streets, too tough for my taste, but we know we gotta do what we need to do to survive. But when Connor made her speak the truth about what she felt when her brother left, I find her a whiny brat. Her reason for leaving home seems selfish; her brother died a hero but she’s didn’t see that. She was fixated with the idea that her brother left her because he didn’t want to take care of her.
Connor’s character has a different effect on me- at first I thought he’s a twisted jerk, but then I came to realize that he was actually a man of morals; just a man falling for his dead best friend’s sister, and is trying to keep her at arms’ reach.
Connor’s a 5, but Kendra’s a 2, so the characters are 3.5.

Plot
For the plot, the ex-vet story itself is interesting enough, and the BDSM just added a sexy but dark twist. There were some scenes which dimmed my interest, but there were also scenes that I like, especially those where the boys tease Connor. I’d give the plot a 4.

Pace
The pace is ok, I guess. It wasn’t rushed, both the story and the connection between the two, but I find that there’s still something missing, though I can’t point out what it is. For the plot I give it a 4.

Ending
The ending is ok too; there was a surprise when they found out who betrayed who, but like the pace, I feel like there’s something missing with the ending as well. I’d give the pace a 4 as well.
Overall, 4 stars.

Wonderful read

This is the first book that I have read by Reilly Garrett and I will say that I was completely knocked over. It was superb. This is the fourth book in the Carnal Series, but can definitely be read as a stand alone. I'm testament to that as I have never read the previous books - but i definitely will be.

it is hard to pinpoint this book into any singular genre. so let's just say that it is a Romantic Suspense that is touched by Erotic. It is just perfect - having pulled my attention in from the very first page and retaining it until the final word was read. i'm really particular when it comes to autors who write in this area (I have a couple of tried and trusted ones), so to retain y attention and intrigue is a huge compliment to Reilly Garretts wrting.

Carnal Obsession had everything lies, intrigue, action, betrayal and, as I said previously, a touch of erotica. It flowed beautifully, as the writing style was easy to read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be going back to read the other three in the series.

OVERALL 3.5 / 5 (Rounded to 4 / 5)
Amount of sex 2 / 5
How explicit 3 / 5
BDSM/Fetish 2 / 5
Romance 3.5 / 5

Carnal Obsession: His Heart’s Prisoner is a romantic thriller from Author Reily Garrett. It is the fourth book in a series and a complete standalone. Each book is dedicated to one of the four Crofton brothers and Carnal Obsession: His Heart’s Prisoner is Connor’s story.
The story begins 3- years after Connor’s best friend, Billy, died in battle. Before his death, he sent important information that he gathered on a secret mission. Billy’s wish was for Connor to keep the information safe for his sister Kendra. Kendra was so upset finding out about her brother death that she ran away from home. Three years later, Connor locates Kendra and invites her band to play at his BDSM club. When he sees her, he is shocked to see how much she has grown up. There is so much sexual tension between them, but Connor fights it… thinking he is too old. Connor protects Kendra when several people threaten and hurt her to get the information. How long can Connor continue to fight his attraction to Kendra while protecting her?
The story line kept me intrigued, but I felt that the author should have focused more on Connor and Kendra’s relationship. The story focused mainly on the envelope and keeping Kendra safe. Even though the story is labeled erotic, there is only a couple of sexual scenes. I would label this a beginner level erotic story.

Overall, a good read.

Get ready for Carnal Obsession to hold your heart prisoner!

Now that was one heck-of-a-book! I love that feeling when I can say that, it puts me in a good mood. Unless you count the book-hangover... Damn, I read that book straight through in one sitting! I probably didn't even blink, hee hee.

If you like your dark romances filled with action and intrigue from the very start to the very end, then Carnal Obsession is your book.

I do wish there was more naughtiness going on, but what there was, was absolutely steaming!

I look forward to reading more books like this by Reily Garrett and you should too!

Carnal Obsession is book 4 in series, but can be read as a standalone, but I definitely recommend trying out books 1, 2, and 3 first. Each book is about a different brother and they are very alpha swoony.

This is book #4 in a series. And whilst, technically, you don't need to have read the previous books before this one, I felt that the fact that I hadn't done so hindered my understanding of some of the sub plots which were cross referenced in the narrative.

And I confess that I did find the jump between the different points of view to be a little confusing at times, with no clear delineation of whose voice I was hearing.

That said, this is basically a decent story, which was slightly tempered by its execution. Would I read more from this author? Yes. Bring it on!

Interesting story, this was my first time reading Reily Garrett. I like the fact that Kendra and Connor already have a history, since he was her brother's best friend. Since her brother's death three years prior, Kendra's been having a rough go with life, until she unexpectedly meets with up Connor. There's attraction on both sides, but even more importantly is the threat to Kendra's life. I liked the suspense of the story, but I do wish there was more to the story in regards to the blossoming romance between Kendra and Connor.

I volunteered to review an advanced read copy in order to provide an honest review. This was a solid story with thoroughly complex characters. Kendra and Connor each had complicated pasts but somehow were able to find what they desperately needed within each other. Great read!

This book deserves 10 stars...at least! But since 5 is the limit on here I guess it will just have to do.

Reily Garrett has written one of THOSE stories. You know what I mean...the kind that makes you SOOOOO angry that you have to stop reading and walk away for a minute or your kindle is going to end up thrown across the room. But it's literally only a minute that you put it down because you just can't wait to find out what happens next.

That being said...the story is awesome. Truly the best in the series. It is mystery, romance, suspense, and pure torture. You never know who to trust. The threats to Kendra are both visible and invisible. You are on your toes the whole time, not just worrying about who is after Kendra and why, but also waiting for Conner to finally come to his senses when it comes to his feelings towards her. It is by far the most intense as far as action and danger of the entire series, which is saying a lot compared to the previous books.

Now for Conner and Kendra. Ohhhhh I wanted to smack Conner upside the head for his antics, but the rest of the Crofton brothers did exactly that for me, while their women further orchestrated his torture. Like all the brothers he is as solid and trust-worthy as they come, but he has to learn to forgive himself for what happened and overcome his past with Kendra before he can truly see her for the woman that she is. And Kendra, so in love with Conner from the time that she was a kid. She has this innocence and vulnerability to her that stabs at you when she feels slighted. You just want to punch anyone who tries to hurt her and take care of her afterwards. Her character inspires that in the reader. Mind you, she isn't weak. She is one of the strongest women that the author has written, but her stature and past make you want to keep her from getting hurt any longer.

Every single place they go heightens the emotions swirling between Conner and Kendra. Conner's house is the safe place where, after her initial fears subside, Kendra is able to really come to terms with her feelings. His house is a sanctuary for those who need it (as we see with Daeron's visits). On the other hand Ambrosia is at first foreboding, and becomes a place where Kendra forces herself outside of her comfort zone and pushes Conner well beyond his. Whether that is good or bad, I'll leave that for you to decide for yourself.

As always the Crofton brothers provide comic relief and stability in the middle of the chaos that seems to be swirling. But now Daeron is added into the circle of trust. The strength of his character and brotherly devotion to Kendra adds a very sweet element to the story and reaffirms that she is someone that everyone around her comes to love in their own way. I need a little more Daeron in my life ::hint hint:: *cough* next book in the series? *cough*

If you have read the other books in the series, there is not as much delving into the paranormal in this book. But it neither hinders nor helps the story. It is just absent so if you were expecting it, well, it's not there LOL

All in all, I heart this book so much I can't put it all down in words.

It took me a chapter or so to get into this books but once I did it drew me deeper and deeper. The characters are fully developed and very faceted. Getting to know them all was a joy. I love the slow way that Kendra was developed from an angry runaway to loving passionate woman. And Conner, who could not want to win his love. The trials they endure and the issues they face together make this a really warm but passionate love story that just happens to envelope the BDSM lifestyle. Oh, and there is a mystery as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this story of enduring love and also the love of brothers and sisters, family. I can MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND Carnal Obsession-His Hearts Prisoner

As all of the books by Reily, this book has you by the hairs!!!

I’ve come to expect good things from this author, and it does not disappoint. This book grabs you right from the start and simply won't let go…. Life, house, kids, chores be damned!! lol!

"You are mine for all time, against any that would satnd against us.""I've always been yours."

This is part of the Carnal Series, the 4th book in fact, but you could easily read it as a stand alone, because the characters are very well developed, and the story follow its own unique line. There are some references and of course cameos of characters from the past novels that only enrich the world Reily is building, but it will not take away anything from this story.

Conner, the older brother of the Crofton family, the owner of Ambrosia, a BDSM club and a bachelor has carried his family and his family's safety with him , and has some issues with feeling that he has not done a good job, so when a shadow from the past emerges he sees it as an opportunity to try and mend things.

Kendra, the little sister of one of the closest friend of the Croftons finds herself for the last three years completely alone and unprotected. Living in the streets, playing in a band that has merely enough to get by, until she needs something from the Croftons.

“Yes. Yes. i’ve always loved you, you big oaf. Took you long enough to realize it.”

Suddenly they are thrown into something nobody know what it is, because the last thing Billy (Kendras brother and the Croftons friend) did was send Kendra something that has put her life on the line. Now with thugs following her, she finds herself falling in the security of Conner, and he finds himself falling for Kendra. The problem is that he is much older than her, and he keeps reminding himself that she is the LITTLE sister of his friend.

“I love you, sweetheart.Nothing will ever change that.” “I’ve always loved you, Conner. You just never saw it, never saw me.” Even when I was half-naked.

They need to overcome the troubles that arise with what Billy sent, and with the feelings of betrayal, and new found love if they plan on keeping each other.

Of course the sibling rivalry and the roasting and ribbing is so funny! You end up wanting to be part of that family!!! Including the dogs (they were in another story, but I’ve loved them since)

The characters are well written and have a lot of depth, and the love, restraint, the integrity of the main characters is very endearing.

As I stated before, I really like the way Garrett writes, I love her books and their HEA….

This book has been sent to me by the author in exchange for a review, as most of the books I host on my blog. Though part 4 of the Carnal Obsession series, it can be easily read and understood as a stand-alone. I am sometimes afraid to read something from a series without having prior knowledge of the story, but it was very easy to follow the plot and the characters. The author does a great job expressing feelings and adds enough descriptions as to give a vivid feel of places.

As for the action itself, it is really catchy and it kind of kept me away from my other tasks. The proof is that I managed to finish it in one day. It took longer to put together the review actually. I love both characters! Kendra is indeed a match for Conner. The strong rich Conner meets the stubborn and equally strong Kendra, his best friend’s sister. They start having conflicted feelings for one another. While Kendra has always had a crush on him, Conner always considered her off limits, out of respect for Billy. Still, Kendra seems somehow angry at him because he failed to protect her brother while in the army. And Conner as well feels he has failed his best friend since he entrusted him with her well-being and it took him three years to find her – she was living on the streets, trying to stay out of trouble and make ends meet. When her life is threatened because f her brother’s secrets, he takes he under his protection. The problem is that Kendra is not willing to give away her freedom.

What I mostly loved about this book was the balance between romance and the thrill of action. Kendra will try to break Conner’s wall of respect, will try to learn about his life style and they both will have to reach some kind of mutual ground.

I was mentioning at the beginning of this review that the author does a great job in expressing each character’s emotions. Well yes, this struggle that both Kendra and Conner feel is very nicely captured in pages. She is disgusted by Conner’s lifestyle – with the club and his… preferences and she is also disappointed that her brother’s best friend failed to bring him back. Conner feels guilty that Kendra’s life took such a bad turn, but he also feels guilty because of all these feelings he has for her.

The only thing is that towards the end the action was a little rushed, but I absolutely cannot go lower than 5 stars on this one. So thank you very much Reily Garret for this lovely read!

Carnal Obsession was a great 5 star read.

Kendra has been living on the streets for the past three years. She is part of a band that plays gigs when they can get them. The book starts with Kendra and her bandmates going to a club named Ambrosia, only this isn’t a normal club, it’s a BDSM club. When she finds out who owns it she takes off.

She doesn’t get far before trouble finds her. Some thugs are looking for something her brother left with Conner for her. She does a great job of defending herself and a mystery man also came along and helped her. She makes her way back to Conner and the club, where he refuses to let her out of his sight. He has been looking for her for years and has finally found her. Now he has to keep his promise to her brother. Can Conner and his brothers keep her safe? Will she stop running?

There is so much that goes on, suspense, humor, BDSM, romance and much more. I did have a few LOL moments with Kendra. Here are two of my favorites.

You own a BDSM club, standing in front of a half-naked woman, and you still can’t find them? Jesus, man. You really are hopeless. They’re called boobs. Conner -Kendra

I guess I should take comfort in the fact you can’t recognize a boob unless it’s capable of feeding a family of five - Kendra

These two have a very hot connection and their bantering was great. I was happy with the ending, everyone seemed to get the closure they needed to heal their hearts. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. Reily Garrett does a really good job of pulling you in with her writing. This is my first read from Reily and I really enjoyed it. I have plans to go back and read book 1-3. 1-click and get started today.

Conner made a promise to his best friend and team mate before he died, take care of his sister. Last time he had checked on Kendra, nothing out of the ordinary was going on, she was at home with her parents. Now three years later, he has found her living on the streets after she had ran away.

Kendra has yet to get over the death of her brother and the promise that he broke. She has been living on the streets for the past couple of years, but when her band gets an opportunity to play at a popular club she thinks things are looking up. When she realizes that its Conner's club and that he has something from Billy to give to her, she runs. She runs straight into danger. Conner must now keep her safe, while at the same time remembering that she is young and needs someone that is not him. Kendra needs Conner to open his eyes and realize that she is not a little girl, and the crush she had when she was younger, has now grown to full bloom. But when Conner keeps pushing her away, will she give up this crush? Or will Conner finally admit that yes he wants her, and she will be his?

So a long time ago, I used to read historical romance, and the way this was written reminded me of those; the way the characters talked, the $4 words that you hardly see in use anymore. I feel that something that is titled Carnal Obsession would have been more erotic, and definitely have more scenes than this did. Three scenes total and two were very lack luster, while the third was also not very good. The plot was very good, and the suspense of the whole mystery was the only thing that kept me going, I just don't feel it was carried out very well. The BDSM aspect of this story was pretty nonexistent after the first scene in the club and like I said even that was pretty lack luster. Kendra was more childish in her thoughts and actions, that it really wasn't hard to see why Conner thought of her as a child, while at the same time she was demanding he see her as an adult. I was excited about the taboo, his best friends sister, younger vs older, and in the end I was just plain let down. I found this lacking in so many ways. 2.5 stars that will get bumped up to 3.

Billy had mad a promise to his sister, Kendra, that he would return from his mission. Upon his death he made Conner Crofton, his best friend swear to take care of his little sister. Kendra

Upon the death of her brother Kendra was angry and left home to live in the streets in the underground world. Daemon, Wes, Cliff and Palmer protected her for 3 years. They ended up starting a band and played a few gigs here and there.

They were offered a gig at a club, Ambrosia which is a BDSM Club owned by Connorm. When Kendra realizes that Connor is the owner of the club she runs and end up putting herself in danger. Connor makes her aware that her brother had left her a package but she would have to wait 3 months until the gig was over before he would hand it over to her.

Connor cannot accept the fact that Kendra has grown up to be a beautiful woman. He was even shocked to find out that she had boobs.

The Croftonwomen, Dani, Adara, and Callie took Kendra under their wing and mischief followed.

I couldn't stop laughing when Connor was being teased by his brothers, Julien, Marc, and Nate at the club and the little blue pill.

Sometimes things are not always as they appear.

This book is fabulous and I would recommend others reading it. It is full of wartime espionage, romance, BDSM, trust and humor. I cannot wait to read the other stories about the Crofton family.
I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.

Carnal Obsession: His Heart’s Prisoner is Connor’s and Kendra’s story. Conner’s a protective man who sees Kendra in a sisterly way. Kendra is a tough girl who had to grow up quick and always had a crush on Conner. Because of the murder of Kendra’s brother she lost touch with everyone she knew.

Connor has a lot to make up for. He didn’t realize that Kendra had gone missing. He thought that she moved with her parents. If he had known that she was living on the streets he would have started looking for her much sooner. Connor always felt a sisterly bond with Kendra because of the age difference he never considered her more than that.

Kendra who is now grown and hardened up by the streets is trying to show Connor that she is not longer his best friend’s little sister. She is now a woman who has always had a crush on him. It’s just convincing Connor that he is allowed to feel more than just brotherly love for her.

Then there is they mystery of Kendra’s brother death and why he left her the package. This package put her in a dangerous situation which Connor must protect her from. This has put everyone on high alert, including Connor’s brothers.

Carnal Obsession: His Heart’s Prisoner is a completely addictive read. It, like the other novels in this series, had great pacing and a great story line. I loved his brothers, they provided some very humous moments. And it also had a mystery to figure out. I also loved that Connor had a inner dilemma that he had to work through and Kendra had to find her way back into the world again.

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Often when I see that a book is part of a series that I haven’t read anything from I’m reluctant to start but I don’t think I missed much because this stood tall all on its own.
So what did I like about this story, well that is easy …what I liked most was the detail.
The characterisation, the attitude, the flow and the intrigue, the whole book was just addictive.
Superbly written, the author ensured that there was nothing left to chance. Her attention to the finer points of the story ensured that this was a book that quite simply made it impossible to put down.
The story was cleverly divulged, slowly unfolding across each and every page, the author astutely unveiling not only the major players and primary characters but also the reasoning behind the direction that the story was veering towards. I spent so much of my time trying to figure out what was going on that by the time the mist cleared, I was facing an OMG moment.
I think the author was very sneaky with when and how she let the facts loose! Bravo!!
The interaction between the two main protagonists was catchy, they worked well together and I was keen to see where what they had was heading but that was very much my feeling towards the whole book…I just wanted to see where it was heading. By the time the story was drawing to a close I felt as if I had been trampled by a heard of wildebeest, I was bulldozed by the finish that the author unleashed but I have to admit that for the story it was just what the characters needed, it was perfect.
Did I want more from the story, well selfishly yes? But that doesn’t mean that I think the author should have done anything differently.
With other books in the series to unearth, this is an author that I am delighted to now add to my automatic TBR list.

I give Carnal Obsession: His Heart's Prisoner 5 stars for grabbing my attention right from the start and keeping me interested right to the end. It brought out many emotions and the love between these friends is amazing.

Riley Garrett did an awesome job relaying this story, the characters are fantastic, the scenes steamy, and the story was amazing.

Conner and Kendra reunite, after years apart, when he hires her band to play at his club. She has not been able to forgive him for her brother's death. He saw her as his little sister, she saw him as the love of her life. Before his death, her brother Billy had sent her a package in care of Conner. On his last mission something happened. Can they figure out what went down?

Mackendra "Kendra" Bower grew up following her brother and his friend Conner everywhere. Three years ago, her brother's death began Kendra's new life, no family, no home, and no friends. Time on the streets toughened her emotionally, a true street rat. When she returns to polite society, things don't go as planned, she is betrayed by both sides of the grave. Will she return to the streets?

Conner Crofton, owner of the BDSM club named Ambrosia, commanded Special-Ops forces during dozens of top-secret missions. Assignments Kendra's brother had followed to his last breath. After failing to protect him, he vows to make sure his little sister is taken care of. Can he protect her and still protect his heart?

Carnal Obsession: His Heart's Prisoner is an erotic romance novel about two people who have known each other all their lives. There are many twists and turns that you don't see coming...it's great.

I really enjoyed this book.

Kendra has spent the last three years living on the street while trying to run from her guilt about her brother's death. She tries to stay away from anything having to do with that, but when her band is invited to play at a local BDSM club, she's surprised to come face to face with her brother's best friend. Her feelings are mixed, as she loves him, and yet, hates him as she believes his actions are what caused her brother to get killed. Connor has lived the last three years mired in guilt for his best friend's death, and for not being able to locate Kendra while she's been on the streets. He's decided to give her a normal life again, which doesn't include him in the package, as he's ten years older than her, not to mention, a hard core dom. But when a plot puts her directly in the crossfire, will Connor be able to keep Kendra safe, while trying to keep her at arms length?

I had a time of it in the very beginning trying to keep everything straight, but after about 25% (maybe less), all the cylinders clicked, and I couldn't put it down for anything. Kendra's story is so heart wrenching painful, that my eyes may have leaked more than once for her. And while Connor is hard core, having Kendra around had his guilty heart come alive again. Reily Garrett hit new levels of awesome with the twists and turns around every corner, and more than once, I dropped LOUD f-bombs, as I wasn't able to see the answers like I normally do. Her talented writing style had my my heart racing the majority of the book, and the STEAMY sexy scene goodness wasn't anything to sneeze at either, especially since it meshed well with the intense suspense. I'm excited to read more by her, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Carnal Obsession: His Heart's Prisoner is book #4 of the Carnal series of erotic romantic supsenses, but can be read as a stand alone.

The book's setting is a place called Gradenburg and is the story of Kendra and Conner. Kendra is a street rat, a run-a-way, she plays in a band and is about to play her first gig which could lead to well paid long term work. Kendra has been on the run for three years after her brother was killed and she had a huge row with her family.

Fellow band member Daeron looks out for her and has taught her how to survive on the streets, it makes her wary, aggressive and self-protective.

The gig venue is a castle, but Kendra soon finds out it is the home of a BDSM club called Ambrosia. A scuffle with an over attentive club member almost loses them the gig, but club owner Conner Crofton intervenes. Conner has been searching for Kendra, he promised his fellow special ops team brother he'd look after her, but she's been hard to find and even now she's ready to bolt at any moment.

Conner and Kendra knew each other when growing up, but when danger threatens Kendra can Conner protect her? And when will he admit that she is no longer a child but a women he greatly desires?

This book is plot driven and mildly connects to BDSM. There is one main feature of erotica and most other action crosses with hot romance, however readers of light romance should know that the BDSM theme runs though-out the book. This is the first book I've read in the series and I would certainly read more by this author.

I received a copy of this book through the Quill and Ink Tour Review Team in exchange for a fair and honest review.....this is such an awesome read and it is great on so many levels...

First of all the story itself it is a fast paced, thrilling read with plenty of action balanced with the ongoing sexual and emotional tension between the two main protagonists, Kendra and Conner, and hot BDSM scenes. The book deals with the trauma and guilt faced by those who are left bereaved and affected by war; the main characters and their supporting cast are plunged into a deadly battle with a ruthless opponent; and murder and betrayal are not the only demons they have to face.

Second, when I first started reading this book the rhythm of the language the author used seemed strange and then I realised it was because she uses the English language in all its alliterative and onomatopoeic strength to deliver her tale. I am not saying that other authors do not write equally interesting and grammatically correct tracts it is just that this author is particularly eloquent.

Third, are the strong, well written characters that were totally believable; I particularly enjoyed the relationship between Conner and his brothers. I was left wanting to know so much more about both the members of Kendra's band particularly Daeron, Conner's brothers and the other women in their lives.

That said..the author is a great story teller and this is the first of her books I have had the pleasure of reading and it will certainly not be the last.... an intense, thrilling, addictive must read..

**Carla's Four Star Review

For the past few years, Kendra has been living on the street doing what she can to just get by. She and her friends form a band, and she is beyond excited to learn that they have been offered a regular gig at a very exclusive club. Imagine her surprise when she discovers that her past crush and deceased brother's best friend actually owns this club. She is beyond shocked to see Connor and old feelings for him emerge, but she is not happy when she learns that his club is actually a BDSM play ground.

Connor has been searching for Kendra for the past three years, and now that he has finally found her, he is not about to let her go. For years, he has only viewed her as his best friend's little sister, but now as she stands before him, she is all woman and he can't stop the feelings that she draws from him. As if his budding feelings for Kendra are not enough, he soon learns that she is in serious danger. Can he keep his feelings under control while ensuring her safety?

Overall, this was a pretty good read. The story is dark and gritty, and the characters are well developed. Also, the sentence structure and grammar were both impeccable. While this is my first time reading anything by this author, it certainly won't be the last! Definitely a book/series I would recommend!

*I received an ARC of this title at my request, and I have provided this honest review*

This was my first of Reily’s books and I loved it. I breezed through this so quick and just loved her writing style. It pulled me in and was an emotional roller coaster full of steamy smoking hot times between Kendra and Conner while still having some elements of suspense as well.

Kendra is on her own. No family after loosing her brother nearly three years ago. She has been without a home even, but is still managing to survive. What she doesn’t expect is to fall into Conner the way she does at the moment it happens. Conner is a very passionate and sexy man Kendra is drawn too. She has been in love with him for years and has dreamed of a day they’d be together. It isn’t until things start to fall into place between them at his club Ambrosia, that I just couldn’t put this book down! He has always felt he failed her brother who passed away three years ago, and is so down on himself for letting her down as well. He had been searching for her since she ran away to live a life he would have never wanted for her. He is determined he won’t let her down any longer, and these two are just wew! I just have no words. It is a very passionate and sexy fun read with a few dark twists and action mixed in as well. The action was a bit quick when it did happen, but was a very suspenseful book while still being a romance at heart.

I'm new to this series and this author , I must say I'm hooked to were I want to read the rest of the books and learn about the brothers and their love stories . It has romance , sadness, intense moments , and mystery that kept me guessing on who was friend or foe .Felt so bad for Kendra I'm close to my brother and I couldn't imagine the pain that she went through after losing her brother she's also awesome she reminded me of kristen bell from veronica mars she knows how to take care of herself she can take men twice her size down . Conner the sexy Dom who can't escape the guilt he has is falling for the h even though he pushes her away because he thinks it's inappropriate I'm glade it take him long to get over that and be with the h . It's also hard to find a really good BDSM and this one was really good . I thought it was pretty cool how the last couple chapters went I didn't know how it was going to end and who would get hurt . Can't wait to read more from Reily Garrett

This book, while one of a series, can be a stand alone. Now that I've read it I am anxious to read some more.
Kendra spent the last three years on the street running from her guilt about her brother's death. Then her band was offered a job at the local BDSM club she was astounded to see her dead brother's best friend and army superior there as the owner. She loved him it hated him because she felt it was Connor's fault that her brother Billy had tee listed and therefore gotten killed.
Connor blamed himself for Billy's death and also blamed himself for Kendra's last three years homeless on the streets. He was determined to give her back a normal life--which did not include a 10 year older lover who was a hard core dominant.
Kendra had loved Connor since she was a young teen and she was determined to do whatever she needed to do to capture Connor's love.
Then enter a wartime espionage plot that had both Connor and Kendra in it's sights and it is unclear if they will come out of the battle alive. This book was gritty, dark and wonderfully written. I loved all the characters with their complex thinking. The plot line was smooth and finally the grammar and sentence structure was done so beautifully that it carried the book to it's satisfying conclusion!

well this book started off slow for me took me a hell of long time to get in to it up till 30% i was pulling my hair out hoping something would happen so i gave it a break for a day then this morning before work i started reading it again and wow finished it within an hour.

story follows kendra who has been on the streets for 3 years since her brother dies on a mission feeling that her parents blame her for his death. she is in a band with other street kids she walks into a bdsm club with a job of working there for 3 months she bumps into Connor who owns the club they grew up together as he is billy (the brother to kendra) best friend he is also 10 years older than kendra.

kendra has loved Connor since she was a kid but Connor has only ever seen her as a sister type but now she's all grown up and walking into his club he can't hide his feelings for long.

while this is happening billy left something for kendra in an envelope to be given to her when she turned 18 whatever is in this envelope is dangerous as she has men after her willing to kill her and anyone else for it.

its a great story and don't do what i did and leave it for a bit stick with it you won't be disappointed.

What a brilliant introduction to this author. I was completely drawn in by the blurb, but was a bit dubious about whether or not it would be ok to start this far into the series, without reading the previous books. However, I can honestly say that you would be fine to do so and will fully enjoy the book. You will be left yearning to read the previous books, after this one though, as it is hard to get enough of this author's series.

The book is very well written and gives you a great deal of background on both the characters and the story. It leaves you feeling connected with both and you become quite hooked on wanting to know what is going to happen next between the characters.

I really irked the heat and passion between characters, but especially liked the suspense. The author was brilliant at building up enough suspense to have you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails and wondering how they would deal with anything they were facing.

Overall, this was a fantastic read and one I would highly recommend to someone looking for angst and passion all rolled into one.

Carnal Obsession: His Heart's Prisoner is the 4th book in the series, yet is a standalone. I jumped into this series without reading the first 3 books.

It's the story of Conner Crofton owner of the BDSM club Ambrosia, and Kendra. Younger sister of his best friend growing up. After Billy's untimely death, Conner swears to protect Kendra.

Kendra ran away from her parents, her home, her life after the death of her brother. For 3 years she's lived on the streets. Until she re-enters Conners life, by way of Singing in his club.

His Heart's Prisoner is a nonstop romantic suspense thriller. With a touch of BDSM incorporated. While it moved slowly in the beginning, it soon picked up. I felt the author did an AMAZING job with the characters and the story line. I am definitely gonna go back and read the first 3 books in the series, to discover how Conner's brothers found their loves.
