This was a very sad story. Not for the faint-hearted or for those who have suffered at the hands of abuse. I would not suggest to reader under the age of 18 either.
~Spoiler Alert~ (Don't read on if you don't want some details)
Firstly, the main protagonist Casey James was not unlike most young women with a dream and that dream was Austine. She had fancied him since she was just a kid. Little did she know, Austin felt the same way. Secretly from afar, he'd been admiring her too, and it was time to make his move.
Casey and her brother Blaize were recently abandoned by their mother who did a moonlight flit with some guy, leaving them the house and everything in it. Blaize was determined to make Casey's 21st Birthday a night to remember - And he wasn't wrong there, it truly was a night Casey couldn't forget. All was going well until that fateful night until she had lost her friends, Austin and her brother, she was forced to go home alone. Casey was assaulted that night. Dragged into a dark alleyway and brutally raped.
Casey couldn't turn to anyone; she was all alone just like that night in the alley.
Her relationship with Austin suffered, she couldn't allow anyone to touch her, and she couldn't allow them to know.
Her mother is called, and she gets to the bottom of things, and the secret is out.
Blaize and Austin are riddled with guilt and stick to the stomach because they weren't there to protect her.
Now time to tell the police - what proof did she have that this event happened? None! Casey burnt all evidence of this night to hide the shame. All she had were her memories of it. That's not enough to go on, the police go off and do there thing. Austin isn't satisfied with their response, he goes out on his own investigations, asking around for CCTV and any information he can get his hands on, but things come up dry. The chances of this scumbag getting caught were becoming less and less. Or was it?
The only person who knew the man for sure was Casey, she would know him anywhere. The way he smelt, the way he talked, the colour of his eyes, and that damn tattoo on his arm. A Manchester United Fan. She hated football.
Her mother coming back was no lucky chance, it was fate. Her returning home is what changed the whole thing. She not only brought Casey the love and attention she had always craved, but she brought the man who violated her.
A good read. As I said above it was sad, but I loved how things unfolded, how something seemed so hopeless and then there was light, and that I was shouting at Casey in some weird hope she'd listen to me lol You'll have to read it to find out whether she gets her justice. I've spoilt enough int his review lol
