The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💚🖤💙 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘 World building: 🌏🌍 Character development: ☺️😮😍 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The Hero:Arnon - he is the crown prince of the Auxem race. His society had lost all of their females in a plague and since then only males have been born. They figured out that the culprit was a specific gene and they needed females without that gene to mate with in order to produce girl children. He and some of the scientists snuck onto various planets to get samples of their blood and they found that there were human women without that gene. While on Earth, Arnon found a woman he wanted.
The heroine:Jayne - one night as she was sleeping, an angel came into her bedroom, kissed her and took her blood. She thought she was dreaming and didn’t think much of it. She recently graduated college with her masters degree and needed to find a job. However, she had to go with her mother to a banquet for the Auxem. Her mother owned an intergalactic dating agency, which she definitely didn’t want to do. She went to the banquet and found out that her angel was the Prince of the Auxem.
The Story: Jayne agreed to work with her mother and supervise the women from Earth that would be subjects on the starship for the Auxem breeding program. Jayne and Arnon were attracted to each other from the start, but since he was the crown prince, he had to marry whomever his father picked for him and he knew he couldn’t be with Jayne.
Though Jayne had seen Arnon’s wings and he didn’t wipe her mind like his father told him to do, he was worried since he didn’t think human women would want to mate with them and bear their children if they knew the pain and trauma associated with flying. So the whole thing about his wings is a big secret.
This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration. The narration was done by Logan McAllister and Faith Clark, neither of whom I liked very much. I have listened to Logan McAllister before and enjoyed his narration, but he was very monotone in this one. Faith Clark had a very youthful sounding voice, a bit too youthful for my liking, though I have books 1-5 and the books have different narrators, so I wanted to listen to this entire book so I know what is going on in this world.
I am not sure if it was the narration or the story or a combination of the two, but this one wasn’t my cup of tea and is definitely not something I would read again, though the story did get much better as it went along. I am hoping the rest of the series is better and the narrators are more to my liking. I know neither of these narrators are used again in the series, so I will give the next book a try.
2.9 stars This wasn't the epic romance that I was hoping for.
This is set in a time where humans know aliens exist and have some cool tech as well. Our h's mom owns the company that provides aliens with mates. The Auxem have traveled the universe looking for possible females. Their females have all died (by a virus, that's the only explanation) and the males are running out of time to procreate. There is also a gene in females that makes it a 99% chance that the child will be male. So, lots of guidelines to find a perfect match so that a new generation is born. On top of everything sex initiates a bond that is emotional and it can not be broken. In fact Auxem mate for life so once you're in there is no getting out. The premise all sounded good but I didn't really care for it. Our H is the crown prince. I know he lost his mother and has a lot riding on him but I found him to be a big baby. I didn't really feel the connection between the characters, it seemed forced by the author. All of the secrets and then we find out that the bond prevents lying and urges mates to tell the truth LOL Spoiler:
These guys have wings, ones that produce major agony. New premise but I find it kind of sad. Any children will also have to deal with this unbearable pain during puberty. In the end the H does some pretty crappy things and the h just says oh okay I forgive you and they have sex.... Seriously???
MORE SPOILERS:
The king is an ass The H met the h testing her for the gene. He told her she was negative, which we find out later was wrong. The lab on earth trying to find females finds this out and calls her but she thinks that some mistake was made, I mean aliens should have better technology right? She means to go get retested but gets distracted by....sex. lol When they are up in space traveling the H finds out she isn't going to be able to give him girl babies and that it "LOOKS" like she hid it. His dad found out too and is going to separate them and make him have babies by fertilizing other women.... Why didn't they do that to begin with??? So the H goes to the h to confront her. She is already pissed at him because she just found out about the painful wing secret (she already knew about the wings and has flown with him). He immediately is an asshole accusing her of hiding it to get into the program and target him for his money! Then tells her his fathers plan to separate them and have children some other way. Now is when she blurts out, I'm already pregnant. To which he freaks and says something along the lines of maybe we can put it in another women????? WHAT!!! She flips out and escapes with one of his brothers. He realizes he was an ass and goes after her. She is scared of him taking her baby. He literally says no, I said that because I was freaking out, I didn't mean it... She goes, okay I forgive you and they have sex... UM NO sorry I need more groveling from this pansy. Also the h tells us about herself but completely changes with him. She doesn't want to have an arranged marriage ever, but she does. She doesn't like being out of control during sex, but when he does it she does. She is also a smart Psychologist, but the whole thing seemed to real life drama and a bit immature. I also didn't like how they only referred sex as "Fucking". I mean mates are supposed to mean everything to these guys but nothing they do shows this. We never see what life is like on their world, which sucks. But we do see that they MIRACULOUSLY have twins, a boy AND a girl 9 months later and that he actually told his father to shove it.
Another great story in Lisa Lace's TerraMates series. Arnon and Jane Lynch's story is the sixth book I've read in the series and definitely one of my favorites. I really liked it from the very beginning when Jayne asks Arnon, "Are you an angel?" and he says, "No, but you are." It was a sweet scene, showing that Arnon was smitten from the moment he saw Jayne even though he didn't expect to ever see her again.
Arnon has come to Earth with his father and brothers representing his home planet of Auxem. They hope to find women on earth willing to marry the men of their planet because their population is mostly male therefore, dying out. As the director of TerraMates, Jayne's mother is working with them to find suitable women and brings Jayne along for the negotiation dinner. Arnon can't believe his angel is there, and lucky for him Jayne was just as intrigued with him.
They fall in love as they work on the project of finding women to match with the men from Auxem. These two really are perfect for one another and quickly form a strong bond. Their physical chemistry is amazing, but it's their emotional bond that brings them through the unexpected problems that turn up in their relationship.
I'm really hoping Ms. Lace will follow up with more of Ayrie and Elle's story, or perhaps Anders will find love with someone in the next group of women. I listened to the audio version and enjoyed the alternating narrative from both a male and female narrator. 4 stars
~Complimentary copy received. Review and opinions are my own.
Two worlds will collide. Earth and a race from planet Auxem. They are a race dying from a disease that killed off all their women. They must find a another race that's able to breed with them and produce female child. Will Earth finally be the one? Jayne has wanted to find a job, and get out from under her parents thumb. She may be twenty-seven, but her parents always treat her like a baby. When the Auxem King and his sons come to the planet Earth to negotiate about bonding with Earth women amd having some coming to Auxem. They must find someone to represent them. It's a job, and it pays, plus she gets a forever bonded husband too. Not to much to worry about right? What if you might carry the fatal gene? Or the fact that husband to be dad hates you already?
I have read several of the TerraMates books and I just fall in love with them more and more. Just thinking about being able to be matched up with a guy that's out of this world, would be a dream come true.
Jayne Lynch is the daughter of the woman that runs TerraMates. She never thought she would be in the service of her mother but she needs to help her out. There is just something about Arnon, who is the prince of Auxem. There is an instant attraction that neither will be able to get away from. They never knew they would see each other again. She just thinks of him as her angel.
I would love to meet a man that would put me first and would never lie to me. There are some bumps in the road between these two but what would you expect? It can't all be explosive and warm. I want to know more about Arnon's brothers and what happens to them. Maybe we will get to know more about them some other time in the near future.
I can't wait for the next book to come out. I wonder what kind of adventure that this author will take us on next?
I think all the books should be like this with lots of super hot story and great sex scenes they don't need to be a lot, but it was masterful how well it was balanced.
the plot was super interesting I didn't wanted it to end, so cool, if you like angels or anything alike you should read/hear this one, it will not disappoint you.
the romance was sweet and had problems like any relationship, the characters were so complex in their interactions on this one, they felt so alive, definitely a perfect book for your romance shelf.
I have listened, to probably over 100 faded Meats Style alien abduction/ sci-fi Romance in the last few months on Audible. This series is awkward, the way it is written as a aspiring writer myself I find the dialogues odd, lacking emotion, lacking personal observation. Not talking about either emotional, or physical feelings that occur during certain scenes. The wording is not up to date with the sex scenes either. The sex is Bland at best. The scenes are short, and there are some areas in this Audible, which I'm not sure about with the Kindle version cuz I have not read it being visually impaired I stick to audibles nowadays. But there are scenes that could have been flushed out with description better practically skipped over like, how did the characters get from one place to another or what happened during a certain incident, other than saying that the incident occurred. I feel these books do not flow do not bring out any emotional feelings in the listener. Not like some of these other books I have listened to in the past. I'm listening to these specifically because I am writing a book which will hopefully turn into a series, in this genre and I want to see what works and what does not and these do not. There are only very small moments where you feel the character is emotionally invested and therefore you feel emotionally invested yourself. Some of these wrong come sci-fi that I have read before are so well done and acted, that you can close your eyes and it's almost like you're listening to a science fiction anime movie. The describers of intimate scenes emotions feelings physical feelings Etc are so well written that you practically feel it yourself. I have listened to, many, by other authors who I will not name below, that make you love the characters. I am basically listening to the collection multi-book series and I am on book 2 and it is boring but yet I'm invested in knowing what happened so I guess, I will be listening to the rest of it since I purchased it. But book one was, vanilla at best and lacking in my personal opinion. Awkward wording awkward sentence structure and lack of emotion in the actors almost like it was acted out by one of these new AIS. Kind of disappointed probably will be returning this book on Audible as soon as I managed to get the stories even though they're almost torturous to listen to it makes me want to rewrite the dialogue. The other thing that is killing me in this, in the middle of fight scenes, or disasters situations, the characters will stop and have a 1 to 5 minute incident with each other where they have to talk about something emotional, in the second book which I'm in right now I'm in one of those situations. Where the two protagonists are fighting a battle and all of a sudden the alien, gets up from the gun gun turret area which is ridiculous because spaceships would not have a gun turret it would be all in the computer system at the front of the Hub. Which I feel is lacking in actual sci-fi knowledge. But they get up in the middle of this and have a miniature conversation love scene it is like I'm sitting there, watching these two people be idiotic instead of taking care of the horrible situation they're in they're screwing around talking about their relationship and kissing WTF seriously. The timing of incidents like admissions of actual love, do not belong in the middle of the love scene where it if they did so, and a real situation would get them killed. I don't know, this book is driving me bonkers trying to get through it eat is all I can say two stars at best
Title: Auxem Series: A Terramates Novel Destination: Book 13., 238 Pages Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: Lisa Lace Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #SciFi #Aliens #Wings #5Stars☆☆☆☆☆ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• This author never ceases to amaze me, yep another Terramates ground breaker. We are traveling to another planet who needs women. Again Ms. Lisa's characters totally match the performance in all her books. Truly a Must Read Series, it's well worth starting at book 1. Yep you'll love it too. King Crindol Madellan of Auxem and his sons came to Earth looking for women because their planet had a virus which wiped out all the women including his wife. There dying race needed help so they came to Earth to negotiate. These Aliens were looking for women who do not carry the H4T7 gene so that all there babies were girls. Jayne Lynch is human, looking for a job since she just finished school and getting her master's degree. Her mom was the most endearing sweet mom at home but in the work place she ran Terramates as if she was the Scourge of God. She probably scared her mail order brides half to death before they even met the Aliens. Arnon Madellan is the Crown Prince of Auxem, he has already found his mate. The woman he will live with the rest of his life. Once they bond they can never lie or go to other women and diffently there was no such thing as divorce for his species. He knew the minute he saw her face and kisses it gently she was his. He wanted no one else no matter what his father said. Could he disobey the King? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
Boo this couldn't have been a full novel too short
This one was way too short it was all good up until they got on the ship heading back to his planet and that's when the author tried to add a little drama to the story but ended up turning the Heroine into a paranoid brat ok the whole story is about the aliens have come to earth because they're in need of females they're dying out because their women all died from some strange virus. They tried mating with other women from different planets but they only produced male offspring which lead them to discover some gene was the cause so they needed women that didn't carry the gene and they found plenty on Earth. Jayne is Sophie's daughter the leader of TerraMates program and after a strange encounter with one of the aliens one night she volunteers to be a part of the trial to see if the Earth women will be compatible with the aliens. Everything goes smoothly up until a secret comes out that he had been keeping from her and that's when the children get their wings it's incredibly painful for them that's the way the author first described it but when he tells Jayne the truth the only reason he told her is because she walked in on him in the bathroom while putting his wings away now the author changes it up and adds that it in fact hurts every time he takes his wings out and puts them away...and Jayne's reaction to the secret? Oh just a big ole dramatic I would never subject an innocent child to that kind of pain! I will stay married to you but their will be no children! She runs out of the room without even giving him a chance to explain how he feels it's worth it which was very childish in my opinion but anyways this book was boring I wouldn't recommend it
This is a great intro into the Auxem series. Although there a few similarities of the Terramates series it is definitely different.
Arnon is a prince of his race and has come to Earth in search of females for his people to breed with. Why? Because a virus killed their entire female population. So now they must find females without a certain gene in order to reproduce and build up the female population.
Enter Jayne. The only child of the Terramates founder and determined to help and go out into the vastness of space to travel to Arnon's planet, Auxem, to run a breeding program.
Being prince makes Arnon so conflicted with his feelings toward Jayne that it clouds his judgement. I'm pretty sure at one point I had to put my Kindle down for a bit to stop the frustration i was feeling over both of their secrets. I'm glad I was able to pick my Kindle back up and see that common sense had returned to them. Thank goodness! Great read and great intro for the Auxem men!
Unique spin on the Terra Mates concept – men from Auxem need to marry earth women as the women were killed by an illness and any births are now all male. The King and his four sons are searching the solar system for a solution. I am happy to learn that each son will get their own story. This story is of the crown prince Arnon who must meet expectations of his father the King.
There is a mystery and a risk around the fact the Auxem have wings – they are trying to hide that fact, but Jayne finds out. What is the mystery, can Jayne accept him, and will she keep this information to herself? I found a little too much tell instead of show on the wing issue – but enjoyed the story and characters as all were engaging and entertaining.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
Jayne is the cossetted daughter of the owner TerraMates. When a new alien race approaches them with the opportunity to match up mates for their dying race, they go into crunch talks to try and help the people before their very tight deadline!
Jayne has memories of who she believes was an angel visiting her but when she meets the Crown prince she realises he was her visitor! There is a definite attraction between them and Jayne realises that to look after the new mates on the long journey, she will have to be one herself. She is linked with Arnon and she soon learns that whilst friendly towards the humans, the Auxem still have a few secrets, like they have wings and can fly!
Arnon and his brothers are all so different in nature and I loved them all! Jayne is a bit of a contradiction sometimes but a hugely enjoyable character. She and Arnon end up at cross purposes more than once and I loved that she did not just fall into line with him or his horrible dad!
I can't wait to see if the other princes get their happily ever after!
How far would you go to save your race? This is the question the Auxem must face. Their answer is " how ever far it takes". This leads them to Earth. I admit that I didn't read the "Auxem" series in order so I knew what was going to happen when I read this story. That didn't stop me from enjoying and loving Arnon and Jayne's story. I loved this entire series and the Auxem men.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
As the first in the Auxem series, this book gives you an insight into the dire needs of the Auxem race. Jayne is the daughter of the Terra Mates founder - half human half alien. Arnon is the crown prince of Auxem, and is hiding a big secret that could upend his father's plans to save his people. One night, Arnon makes a mistake and doesn't follow protocol. This sets off a series of events in which Jayne begs to becomes the representative of the human females volunteering to help the Auxem. Jayne knows the secret to a certain extent but as the truth is revealed, it could threaten all that both parties have worked hard for.
I could tell from the first conversation between the MCs that this author wouldn't work for me. She had the hero explain in his internal dialogue why he was going to say something a certain way before pretty much every line he spoke. It's irritating and completely unnecessary. Readers can pick up on context clues and understand implied meanings. A good dialogue doesn't need that much direction or hand-holding.
I can’t believe she’s a New York bestseller. The dialogue is forced. There’s pretty much no plot. It’s straight romance. However, all the couples in this series seem to fall in love within 1 to 2 days, followed by a lifetime unbreakable mating. I’m very glad I got the series free and didn’t actually pay for this.
I loved this book. My only complaint was that the ending was super rushed and a bit anticlimactic. I was left feeing unsatisfied and wanting more. The couple in this book were great and I hope to see more auxem stories in the future.
41% DNF. This started out promising but then quickly declined. The characters, and I mean ALL of them, we're like teenagers trapped in an adult body. Just immaturity and teen angst all over the place. I don't think I'll be checking out any other work by this author.
The audio book is amazing Jane is the daughter of the terra mates company and she becomes one of the brides to run the venture with Auxem. The couples are grouped well and the story is not dull it’s a good plot.
This was actually 2 books. I just barely finished the first book and the second I could not finish. If you want to try it get it for free try it. I will not read again.
The story was awesome. There's so much going on and people not wanting the main characters to be with one another. Everything works out in the end. A HEA.
