Summoned by his father to return home immediately, Dougall MacRae knows he cannot leave without his beloved Helene. He asks her to marry him and accompany him back to Castle Treun unaware that his father has plans for him to wed another in an attempt to strengthen clan alliances. He can keep Helene as a mistress, but not as his wife.
Helene has lived her whole life at Breaghacraig and has left it all behind to marry Dougall. She refuses, however, to remain at Castle Treun as his mistress. Fleeing in the dark of night with no idea how to return to Breaghacraig, Helene stumbles upon a beautiful stone bridge. Devastated and alone she contemplates life without Dougall. As she pleads aloud for someone to help her, she is engulfed in a thick fog and when it clears she finds herself in the year 2016 in San Francisco, California, where Dougall’s betrayal has led her into the arms of the kind, handsome stranger who saves her in her hour of need.
A perfect follow up to the series. Dougall is a great hero and Helena is a dream. I COULD not put it down. It was a one day read because I fell totally in love with the characters. Jennae is one of my favorite authors because her books come to life and make me totally believe in time travel. The story moves like a movie, smoothly moving and completely entrancing! Looking forward to the next story in the series.
Wow just wow.... While nothing to do w/Shakespeare a better title for this would be "Much ado About Nothing".... After reading and skimming my way through this all I can think is wow.... Just Wow,but Not in a good way ..... I'd call this plot circular, ends kinda where it started,in between is a crazy convoluted journey that doesn't entirely make sense and in the end wasted and VERY unneeded
I didn't really care for the lead characters, Helene and Dougal until almost the end of the book. It has been over 2 years since I read book 4 and this book didn't have nearly the impact for me.
I really enjoyed this story so very much. Dougal has chosen a wife to be with someone for the rest of his life, Helene. The love of his life. The both have loved each other for such a long time. But when he was summoned to see his tyrant of a father; he goes, but does so with his beloved Helene. When he goes there he is blackmailed into going on a mission to scan his fathers land, leaving Helene alone and defenseless. Abused my Dougal's father, she escapes and goes home, but only to have a turn of events bring her to the future. Yes, Edna is at it again. Gut wrenching sorrow fills Helene and learns what it's like to be independent in San Francisco. I could go on, and on, but it wouldn't be fair to you. You have got to get the book, it really is good. If you love time travel with hunky men from Scotland or San Francisco you love this story.
Helene and Dougall’s story is everything I love in this genre. Characters that you quickly fall in love with, vivid descriptive scenery that transports you to and from other times and best yet characters who are introduced that easily lead to the next in a series and yet the book reads great as a stand alone as well.
Wonderful book! I am looking forward to reading others in the series.
Great story Edna is still up to her match making and mediator tricks the time she helps Helene in 1516 Scotland whom I caught between a father and son battle of wills. Edna steps in and helps these two lovers of their love while experiencing modern day San Fransisco. Love this series one my favorites for time travel
The latest book did not disappoint as Helene and Dougall find their way. The theme of this book shows how you don’t always know a person the way you think and what you’ve always thought you wanted may not be the case. The author weaves a beautiful tale with characters we love and a few we love to hate. Edna proves once again her Magic comes with a lesson and several lessons were learned in the book.. enjoyable read, highly recommend!
I'm loving your series!! There are trials and tribulations those in love may go through and with some help from Edna, they finally realize the changes they Rach made only makes their stronger!! I can hardly wait to read the next book in the series!! Thank you including your books in the Kindle Unlimited program!!
Reading the series in one sitting is not a good idea. It seemed this book was the same as the others just different characters. The scenes, the same. Maybe if I had read something in between the books this last one would not seem so repetitious.
A turn in time book 5 of the Thistle & Hive series
This is another winner. This is second time I read this book and it was a very good read again . She writes wonderful characters and great storylines in every book. I highly recommend all her books Diana Romano
A Turn in Time by Jennae Vale is a unique Time Travel set in Scotland and 2016 San Francisco, California. Book 5 of 5 in "The Thistle & Hive Series" (5 Book Series), but can be read as a stand alone. Dougall MacRae and Helene's story is heart breaking, with engaging characters, and a wonderful storyline. A quick, well written story! With heart break, a touch of humor, friendships, a mysterious, a magical bridge, passion, deciding what is truly important in life and finding a HEA, through all obstacles. Can joy turn to misery, turn to an everlasting love or a lifetime of heart break? I enjoyed reading about Helene and Dougall's story, their determination to be together and the misunderstandings that follows. Ms. Vale is a wonderful storyteller who brings her characters and story to life on the pages of a great book. A must read for fans of Time Travel, Historical Romance mixed with twists and turns. I would recommend this read! I received a complimentary copy.
I loved this story! It is so much fun when people traveling from the past, say 500 years or more, land in the 21st century. There is always someone who guides or rescues them and helps them adjust and explain the modern world and it is often really funny. I find it more interesting than when someone goes back to the past. I thought this story was excellent and I hope there is a follow-up story for Sara, Logan, and Zeke! I plan to read the previous books in this series.
I have loved every story I have read by Jennae Vale. This is another one. Her characters are so real. Her transitioning between the present and the past is seem less. Don't miss the complete series. Enjoy!
This is my fifth book I've read in the series and it was one I couldn't foresee the ending. The twists and turns had me reading as quickly as possible to find out how Helene would decide to live.
