Warning: This is spanking erotica, not a full romance. If you are looking for a monogamous romance story and are kink-adverse, don't try this one.
Everyone has certain tropes that turn their crank. Within the BDSM realm, I'm pretty picky. I'm not much into whips and blindfolds and feathers and chains or much of what most people enjoy in BDSM. No, my BDSM kinks are much... narrower. Other than my favorite kink of humiliation, I'm a spanking kind of girl, and I LOVE a domestic discipline story.
The Trouble with Trevor feels like the first part of a serial story. It is a piece of a larger, continuing plot-line about a 17 year-old college student and his older, retired military godfather, Grady. It's the typical brat/sir type story (that I ADORE), but the pair doesn't have a sexual relationship yet. It is strictly spanking, though it evolves to something more towards the end.
That isn't to say that there isn't sex in the story, because there is, but it is with other people. Also, if sex without condoms bothers you, then you might want to stay away. I'm not a fan of that, in general, but if both adults are consenting and know the risks, I can bend.
Those familiar with domestic discipline stories will know the drill, but just be aware that this story ends feeling unfinished because it goes right into the next in the series. I'm looking forward to the author taking Grady and Trevor's dynamic even further, and for some more kink-a-licious action in the future!

Spankalicious! 😍 Are you a fan of honest-to-god genuine, erotic spanking? 😁 If so, look no further because this book is going to be your catnip. 😏 I love everything about this book from the first page to the very end. 😉 The age gap, the jaded and tough veteran with a disability who’s a real softie on the inside (who I adored so much 🥰) and a bratty whelp who’s lusting after his own godfather and would do anything to get a thorough spanking from him. It was just yum-yum all the way! 😋 Mind you, this isn’t exactly a romance (well, at least not yet) because according to the author, Cin Forrester, this is going to be a four book series so Trevor and Grady’s relationship and romance will grow more and more in the next books. But I loved this book and it’s raw and genuine feelings anyways. 💜 Onto next book because Mama always need more spanking in her life. 😂

I can’t do this. It’s just so awful.
It already started on the second page with this.
"I'm on the prep." He looks up at me and grins. "You can do me bare."
Hell yeah.
The older MC is getting it on with a hookup, but is apparently not that smart, since he takes this guy’s word for it. And he doesn’t seem to know that PREP does not protect against the rest of the STDs.
After this we learn that Grady is in his 30s and he’s looking out for his 17 year old godson, who has just started college.
And even though Grady is ex-military, the way he treated Trevor was just ridiculous. The guy is not allowed to go out, no meeting with friends, he can have nothing lying around in the house, and he needs to be home by 10PM. And Trevor needs to be ‘taught some respect’.
If he cannot follow these rules, he gets a spanking. Now I am all for spankings! But this was not meant sexually. Grady actually thinks it’s is okay to ‘discipline’ a 17 year old guy like this.
When he is giving this spanking Grady even thinks Trevor deserves it because of his bratty behaviour. The dude did not act bratty at all! He simply lost track of time while studying.
This guy was seriously cray cray. And this felt more like abuse to me.

What an excellent story - the characters, dang they just burst off the page and the chemistry between them is electric.

Lots of sexual tension - great spankings and a confused college freshmen the wrong side of 18. I loved it. A heavy focus on the spankings means I didn't get to see as much of Grady doing everyday things - it felt like it needed more mechanic greasy - and a little less sexy dude making dinner. Plus the graveyard - nice work with that!

These read a bit more like episodes than novels, in that they sometimes end rather abruptly.
Despite that, the books are quite well done, especially for anyone who is interested in spanking kink, and age difference.
Trevor is staying with his Godfather, Grady, while he's away at Harvard. His parents don't trust him living in the dorm rooms alone after his brother's accidental alcohol poisoning overdose.
Trevor has some behavioral problems, and he hasn't forgiven himself for his brother's death. Grady is a lonely man dealing with the amputation of his leg, his own domineering personality, and some crippling loneliness.
The first book establishes the interest between the two characters, but I think the second and third books really further the storyline a bit better -- so even if you're not fully invested in this volume, you may be more intrigued by the character development in the second and third books.

Many thanks to the author who sent me a free copy of this book as a thank you for joining her newsletter. Whew, Trevor fly your freak flag high!!! What a ride this was. Trevor's brother drank himself to death in college. Trevor's parents are so freaked that the same thing will happen to him that they want him to attend community college near their home in Ohio. But Trevor, geeky and nerdy and, by the way, not yet out, wants to go to Harvard where he was accepted via early decision. All hope seems to be lost until Trevor's dad remembers that his friend and Trevor's godfather, Grady, lives in Boston. Grady is a Marine vet. If Trevor lives with "Sergeant Godfather" he can go to school. Thus starts this very erotic, somewhat taboo ride with Trevor and Grady barely hanging on! Won't go into details but we find out that Trevor has a bit of a kink and that there's strong boiling hot attraction on both sides. This is book 1 and you have to know that going in because this will be a series. So if you don't like books where the story is continued, wait until the entire series is done. Book 2 comes out in January and there's a snippet from that book at the end of this one. (Is it January yet????!!!) This author is using a pen name for this new direction she's going in and she is well known under her other name for, in my opinion, wonderfully written M/M romances. Her skill is all over this lovely nugget. Strong writing, well defined characters. The combustible attraction between Grady and Trevor combined with Trevor's sexual awakening and his trying to fit in at school was awesome! Grady's sense of right and wrong is being sorely tested. Nearly dropped the Kindle with level of smoldering sexual tension going on between Trevor and Grady. Lots of spanking! Good heavens this was good! Reminds me a little of Lynn Kelling but doesn't have Kelling's level of angst but definitely has that taboo vibe you get from Kelling's books.

The 'anticipation' each time Trevor purposely breaking the rules so he can be platonically be at Grady's 'mercy' were so intriguing even sometimes I must admit that it also made me cringed, but still.....it made me curious even more about what will happen next....
I'll find out soon because The Problem with Grady already on my next read!

The Trouble with Trevor is the first book from Cin Forrester, the erotic pen name of author K.A. Mitchell. I’m a huge fan of Mitchell’s writing and I was really excited to find her starting this second line of stories with a more erotic twist. This book definitely has not just a strong sexual component, but also a more erotica-based storyline, rather than a traditional romance ark. Although there are eventually romantic feelings between the guys, the story really focuses on the erotic component of the spanking and Trevor exploring his feelings of both wanting the punishment and being afraid of it.
So I definitely thought there was a sexiness to this story and enjoyed the kink and the exploration of the age difference and the taboo of the relationship. I also liked seeing Trevor do a little bit of self exploration about what turns him on and what he wants, as he is just getting his first glimmers of understanding about his kinky side. I did find some of it a little awkward in that the spanking was really being used as discipline in the corporal punishment sense for a lot of the book. I’m totally behind the idea of some kinky spanking, as well as spanking as punishment in a domestic discipline sense where there is a relationship between two partners and it’s a negotiated part of the dynamic between them. But in this case, it didn’t quite feel like that since although Trevor was seeking out a little bit of fantasy fulfillment, from Grady’s end it is purely about punishing Trevor for what Grady sees as his misbehavior. Eventually this morphs into something more sexual as time passes, but in the beginning this is a way of punishing a 17-year-old by spanking him, which I had trouble really getting my head around. First off, for me seventeen is way too old to be spanking as punishment and even as his temporary guardian, the fact that Grady didn’t discuss this at all with Trevor’s parents seems odd. There’s also the fact that the transgressions seemed so minor and Grady’s reaction seems so severe. I mean, a 10 o’clock curfew for a college student, even one who they think needs close watching, just seems crazy rigid. And things like leaving a backpack on the floor or not putting away a carton of juice don’t seem severe enough to warrant smacking somebody. So the whole scenario made me a little bit uncomfortable at the beginning and I had trouble to some degree making the migration from the spanking as pure punishment, to then something emotional and sexual on both their parts.

This story is not one of your conventional romances. Our MCs here are Grady, an ex-military in his 30s who is looking out for his 17 year old godson, who has just started college.
So, yeah you can tell that this is a taboo kind of relationship story which I enjoy very much. But here the pacing of the story was very slow. It got boring and repetitive and I almost dropped it but my innate desire to know how it finally ends kept me in line.
Grady is attracted to Trevor but he can’t do anything about it. So he indulges in anonymous hookups (which IMO was careless and irresponsible on Grady’s part given that he goes with unprotected sex). Trevor on the other hand also has the hots for the older guy but he is too scared to let it show.
Grady is strict and he wants to keep Trevor in line which means curfew at 10, no roaming around with friends and definitely no parties and his method of enforcing the discipline is plain, old spanking!
Oh yeah, there are lots of spankings, red butts and ‘taking over the knee’ situations in this story which was hot!! The relationship is kind of a slow-burn as Trevor explores his sexuality first time with someone other than his hand and Grady tries like hell not to take the spanking to the next level.
This story is part of a series as this book ends in a cliffhanger just when Grady breaches the line with Trevor ending in a fiery kiss with all sorts of promises of exploding passion to follow.
There is no romance in this one but it definitely managed to crank up the anticipation for the next book which I pray will finally show Grady and Trevor in a relationship with smoking passion. I can’t wait!!!

Finally. FINALLY! I wish I could give this book a thousand stars. If I could, I would.
Most spanking stories are sexual spanking stories, which are not for me. I love NON-SEXUAL spanking. Spanking that is for discipline and punishment. Domestic discipline. It's rare to find DD done right. But Cin Does. It's gorgeous.
There's that lovely feeling of "made to" and that wonderful tummy drop "oh shit" kinda feel that every spankee wants to feel. I love it most when the spanker decides when the punishment will end and not the spankee. We can pretty much only get this truly in fiction. But still, there is VERY lovely consensual-non-consent here (my fave) done well and done right.
I love the set up. It's clear that Trevor is a true-blue spankee (believe me there are tells) and Grady, he's *heart eyes*. I love how strict he is. I love his rules and BEST part of all -- HE FOLLOWS THROUGH. That is KEY in these kinds of stories.
I am so very tired of "spanking stories" where there is no follow through or where it just turns into a sexual thing. With non-sexual spanking, the "turn-on" comes from the humiliation of it, not the spanking itself per se, and it's done perfectly in this book. *chef's kiss* perfectly. Love, love, LOVED how this was done.
I will be reading every book in this series. I've finally found someone else who knows how to write a non-sexual spanking and I am now hooked for life.
And if that weren't enough, Cin is a spectacular writer. The dialogue was realistic. The story flowed. I was so caught up. Welp, I know what I'll be doing this weekend. (reading the rest of these books)

This isn’t a long book and you won’t find much closure in the end. It ends with a cliffhanger and the future of Trevor and Grady is very uncertain. There’s Trevor and his sexual relationship with Cael and then there’s Trevor and his infatuation with his godfather Grady.

Nice spanking fantasy, not exactly porn because the story still determines the spanking and sex scenes and not the other way around and not all those experiences are sexy for Trevor but the age difference is more "ignorable" if it is read as porn. I'm not that easy with a story where an adult is lusting after a teenager. There's no sex between them but there surely will be and the thoughts are already on that level ... and that's the other case I didn't appreciate: the end is a light cliffhanger, no HEA, no HFN and off course not even a bittersweet ending just a stop.

This book don't ease in to things, it's head on in to Grady's hook up a couple of weeks after Trevor first arrives and have started tormenting him during their punishments.
Though Grady isn't one for safety first and it rubs me the wrong way from the start. Being in his thirties and still going bareback with Grindr hookups.
Trevor knows what he wants and that is pain and Grady. And with a well placed lie that isn't outright a lie he gets his spankings as punishment, even if he have to push it.
I do like how Grady takes care of Trevor, specially with his sleepwalking and just overall care when he gets over the worst of his drill sergeant ways.
I had a constant fear whenever Trevor was with Cael, that he would accidentally call out Grady's name, with how his thoughts went.

This was a rather short read and I could’ve finished it a few hours. But this book didn’t hold my attention for long, so it took me almost a full day to finish reading.
I liked the plot, there’s something I love about a taboo story, and this is definitely one. But I feel like the author was trying too hard. Grady is a thirty something veteran (his exact age never mentioned) and is a temporary guardian to his 17 year old godson, Trevor. Trevor is still a minor and being controlled by his parents while he’s going to college. Meanwhile also being controlled by Grady and punished with a spanking when he doesn’t follow the rules. This would’ve worked better, if it didn’t imply that there was a possibility Grady was a late teen, when he was appointed to being Trevor’s godfather. Believable? No, not for me. Why not just making him a forty something?!
Also, the age thing, was it for the sake of making it extra taboo, to portray Trevor’s character as a 17-year old instead of already being 18? And just simply make it taboo for the sake of Trevor being Grady’s godson and the son of one his best friends?! I’m really glad that it’s mentioned the age of consent in Massachusetts is 16, because I hadn’t known it otherwise. But it wouldn’t have been necessary if Trevor was 18.
There was also something off in the writing, that made me lose complete focus on the story or characters. I’m not claiming to be an expert on the English language, because I’m Dutch and I just like to read fiction written in English, while nitpicking on grammar and editing 😏. But things like the following quotes from the book; “I’m on the prep, so you can do me bare” (WTF, you mean ‘on PrEP’ that doesn’t protect you from STD’s?!) “He makes a heavy/big sigh” or “My dick makes a twitch” or “He makes a gasp” just didn’t sit right with me. And you’re welcome to correct me, if I’m wrong. Or even point out that I’m being a nitpicking twat, who doesn’t even write eloquent reviews, because I wouldn’t mind at all.
I’m just giving my honest opinion about a book in a (probably) four part series, that I paid money for, while still debating whether I should continue to do so.

Grady grudgingly agrees to let his best friend’s son, Trevor, stay with him to attend college. Grady’s been content on his own, and isn’t looking forward to having company, but when Trevor shows up, Grady realizes he’s in worse trouble: Trevor seems to push all of his buttons, especially when he acts out. He defies Grady’s rules, and is only too happy to accept Grady’s punishments. However, when Trevor pushes Grady too far, Grady can’t control his response, leaving them both adrift. Is there a way forward for this May-December pair??
Actually, it’s better than I was thinking it was going to be. Both of the MCs have some depth, but we’re in Trevor’s head a lot more than Grady’s, so most of what you learn is filtered through what’s going on in the head of a 17-year old guy, who’s crushing on a much older man.
It’s the first book of a trilogy, and I haven’t decided if I care enough to read the next one.

Here's the thing
The book was a good read, for the most part. I read it hoping for Daddy play. That's not what this is, although there are several spankings. Im used to reading about spankings, with Daddy play being my favorite, but I just don't like when they use something that leaves bruises. I'm not a fan of that. Also the book ends with no HEA or HFN. It just ends. There's a second book in the series, but I read the reviews, and it doesn't have those either. I will not be buying the second book. As much as I'd like to know how it turns out, I'm not hyped up to read about book all about the punishment with no happy medium.

This is a novella with domestic discipline. A little different than what I'm used to with this kink because Trevor is not quite 18. A lot of books don't mix DD with actual smexy times, and although this one doesn't quite do so, both of them are definitely turned on by the act. I liked the story well enough as a start to the series, but it looks like there's going to be a ton of push and pull and angst, Trevor not getting what he wants from Grady for quite a while. I don't mind a slow burn, but I don't particularly like when things feel like they drag out only as a plot device, not really adding the actual story. I'm sure I'll read the other books eventually.

WOW! Wow! I really liked this book. Some could consider this taboo or not. The MCs desire, lust awareness of each other is very strong with the added kink they share. Trevor is funny that's the first thing I liked about him. He's honest, hungry, horny and interesting. This book is well written. I like the author's writing style. It's descriptive and raw. I have to see what's in store for Trevor and his godfather Grady in then next book in this series, The Problem With Grady. Grady is losing his self-control and he's losing more and more ground everyday.

First off, i was a bit thrown in the beginning as the book is in 1st POV and i’m not used to that.
Well, Grady and Trevor are something else... Trevor needs to live with his godfather when he goes off to college as his parents won’t allow him to live at a dorm. Trevor keeps making messes up to the point Grady took action by disciplining Trevor.
This book is full of spanking, but not the fun kind, the domestic discipline kind.

This is pretty much the baseline quality I'm looking for. Writing was pretty good, characters felt like real people, sex was hot. I definitely appreciate the age gap and the kink - it's not easy to write spanking in a way that doesn't get boringly repetitive. Frustrating that it's only part of a complete story, but I get it.

LOVED IT!!!! I totally enjoy discipline novels and if its M/M I enjoy it even more. This book definitely did not disappoint.Love the dynamic between Trevor and Grady. Cin writes an amazing spanking scene. I can’t wait for the next book.
