The untimely death of St. Louis Kingpin, King David, has left a vacuum in the underworld. He leaves behind his vast empire to his surviving heirs, David Jr. and Davita. Born barely one year apart, they were raised in very different worlds.David Jr. is college educated. His mother always pushed him to do the best he could so he could one day legitimize and run the East St. Louis crime family. She thinks she s above and beyond the game. All she wants is the money that she believes she and her son are due.
Davita, born to and of the streets, was also raised by a money-loving momma, but her mother taught her a different set of rules. Davita has been raised to use anybody and everything to get that money by any means necessary. She has embraced the business of the streets, and she is ready to ascend to the throne that her father has unexpectedly left behind.
The question remains: will the family ties that bind keep the families together, or will sex, greed, drugs, and their mothers divisive ways tear it all to hell, bringing St. Louis down with them? David Jr. and Davita have decisions to make!
Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Keisha Ervin is a prolific writer and devoted mother. Her success has drawn much deserved attention to herself and her hometown. She is the author of the National Best-Sellers Chyna Black, Me & My Boyfriend, Mina's Joint and Hold U Down, as well as the novel Torn and the short story After the Storm, featured in the Street Love anthology.
This book is OK. There are no surprises. The characters are one dimensional and, the killer? You'll see it coming almost immediately. I'm a big fan of Keisha Ervin's. So I had high expectations.
This was complete BS! There's no way just because a person has mental issue would be able to wipe out a kingpin and an entire security team. If he's a kingpin, he would have a security team or at least 1 person with him to watch his back....and King David was so bad, when he saw the person come up in him, why wasn't he able to pull his gun out on someone who was unfamiliar to him? How was she able to even get up on his floor where his office was located to get to him...This story was just unrealistic, unbelievable and underdeveloped!

- I don't do well with liars. A chilling voice invaded the air. You lied to me, Donovan.
King David Mason sat behind a marble desk tapping his fingers together. Behind him on either side stood two big and bulky henchmen who were ready to pounce if given the word.

Excellent storyline and character development. Definitely not what I was expecting. This 5 star page turner reads like a suspense mystery. Kept me guessing from beginning to end. Keisha Ervin has a way with words that makes you feel emotions like the details are actually happening to you. I enjoy her books and look forward to reading more from her. Add this to your collection, I promise you will not be disappointed.
Most of these Kingpins books are good! King David was the Kingpin of St. Louis. It seems like he was grooming his twin daughter Day to rule after him since his twin son David Jr. was not interested in following in his father's footsteps. Something he witnessed made him feel that way. Read to find out what that was and if he changes his mind.
Loved it! This was the best book in the series so far (noting that I have not read them all). I enjoyed the differences between David Jr. and Davita and bond that grew. Great read!
My Girl Keisha Ervin has done it again! Wow! This book, set in my hometown of St. Louis, MO is a PAGE TURNER! So wonderful from beginning to end! I love Keisha Ervins works and she outdid herself on this one. Loved it! Highly recommended! GO KEISHA!
Good Read!! This book is a page turner. Day and David talking about sibling rivalry at it's best. Davita in the beginning she got on my nerves She was wrong for the way she treated her mother but Angela got what she deserved nothing King David fooled her. King David was a smart man he knew the game. Need to do a story about David and Davita.
This was a good read. Same plot as usual with a mental twist. Some grammatical errors, some far fetched things but overall a quick read. I'm rally looking for our African American authors to delve a little deeper and give us readers a different take on the game but this one reads basically all of the other street lit novels. For the style and content it was pretty good.
King David was the King of St.Louis and everyone showed him mad respect, but after his tragic death his Twins Davita and David Jr. Are left to pick up the pieces. Will they ever find out who killed their dad or will they be next.
Is it me or am I the only person that thinks the girl on the cover look like Bianca from LAHHNY if David Jr has a fade and waves in the book why does the bald head man appear on the cover
I liked this book! I figured out who the killer and the connect was. I wasn't surprised at all about the killer because they always showed up after everything went down. I'm going to read all of the Kingpins books.
