Four Generation X-ers share the adventures of their year-long trip around the globe, as well as their realization of what it means to live completely for Christ. Original.
I don't remember where I first heard about this book but the title tag line "Four friends embark on a worldwide odyssey in search of the epic life" intrigued me so that I put it on my Bookmooch wishlist. Eventually, a copy came free. I didn't know at the time that the story is about a mission trip that these 4 took to a number of stops all around the world. Knowing that I probably wouldn't have picked it up. But I read it anyway. Of the 4, I really liked one of them, despise another, thought the third was a bit odd, and didn't really notice the fourth, he kind of just fades into the background. It gets a bit preachy at times in an evangelical Christianity that I don't really agree with, but even that wasn't enough to make me stop reading. I wish these guys the best and hope others can learn from their experiences. As for the epic life? Well, I'm not sure they found it, but they certainly had plenty of adventures.
This book has been around for several years but it has not lost its appeal. I purchased two copies in the past month to share with very different people but the style and content made this read a positive experience for both if them. These four young men share the positive and the negative aspects of a once in a lifetime around-the-world trip. You will feel as though you are there without the jet lag or parasites ... not bad when you think about it.
Read this in high school and it's still one of my favorite books I've read. An epic journey with worthwhile reason behind it. Still have it and will probably read again someday.
