I love A.K. Michaels' books, she is a wonderful author. And this book is no exception.
This opens with Flora trying to figure out how to escape an abusive father and pack. When she finds the perfect escape she is worried she may not be able to go through with it. Flora being a half breed, her father an alpha, escape was almost impossible. In walks Maxwell, a richer than rich Vampire who knows what he wants and gets it, coming to claim his inheritance and get the hell out of dodge. Maxwell is proof that all vampires are not bad and Flora is starting to see that, but is it to late? Can her father stop her from leaving? Can Maxwell safe her from herself and her father? Does she get to leave without looking back? Or is her Alpha father taking control and keeping her as his prisoner to abuse and show as an example of betraying him?
As with all of Ava's books, I could not put this down until then end, and then I was so overwhelmed with the ending that I had to let out the breath I did not realize I was holding.
Flora and Maxwell have the kind of relationship that you will envy and will be cheering for from the beginning.

I love this series of books and this little gem rates right up there. Flora is the put upon, abused and degraded daughter of a local Wolf Alpha. She can't shift and he enjoys coming up with cruel taunts and punishments for her. She finally sees a way to flee by signing up to be a Blood Courtesan. And wouldn't you know her luck, her Vamp is pretty much her new neighbour!
Maxwell Steele (previously Forbes) has returned to Scotland after centuries away to settle the estate of his long detested and now not so dearly departed father. He hated him for allowing the evil into their home which killed his mother and turned them into Vampires. His arrangement for feeding whilst at home has all been organised, but he never expected her to turn up at his door on a "borrowed" horse and fleeing like the hounds of hell are at her heels. Flora and Maxwell slowly bond over their time together, but will he throw her back to her pack once his business is concluded or will they have their HEA?
Flora and Max are a great couple. Flora is naive, virginal and spunky and has the mouth of a salty seadog! Max has forgotten what it means to be Scottish and it's hilarious as he tried to weather Flora's slang at rapidfire pace! Flora "beloved" father is a total nightmare on legs and lets just say that his fate is bloody, righteous and I must admit I was fair away with bloodlust myself when he meets his punishment.
The characters are full bodied and Graham and Isa may have little parts in the story but they are a really neat way of showing Max in another light, he wants no kowtowing and calling him Sir is a no no! Am I biased cos it's set in Scotland and written by a Scots author - you bet your ar$e I am!!! I am LOL at the the thought of my foreign book friends trying to get their tongues around some of the slang in this book. We have lots of words for idiot, dirty and drunk and you'll know more than a few Scottishisms by the end of this book!

And AK Michaels does it again and in a big big way. Escape is Flora's story in the Blood Courtesans series, although each story is a stand-alone. A novel that grips you from page one. Flora is so adorable and loveable. This story was a no-regrets ride until the end, which had a brilliant solution as a finale. Ms. Michaels' work has a way of pulling you in and she has again managed to create an awesome page turner. A great little novel that ended too quickly for me..I need more and more Ak Michaels to help with my addiction to this talented lady.

Where to start !!! yes ok the begining this book is a totally amazing, the main character Flora is just a breath of fresh air, not a sappy blonde but a firey red headed braizen Scottish Lass, that will do what ever it takes to get away from her father. She has bite and flare and is something so different to the normal Courtesan that Maxwell Steel employees. Can she Escape can her vampire employer help her will the cold hearted vampire even try. What an amazing book keeps you flipping the pages like a person possessed... Yet again A.K.Michaels delivers her magic

Wow! Where do I even begin? I guess by saying, I love, love, love Escape by A K Michaels! I've been a Michaels fan for several years and literally devour everything she writes. No, really.... I rush to Amazon to purchase her books as soon as a preorder is available. It doesn't even matter what it's about; I want it! I love her work so much, I'd probably pay to read her shopping list! lol... Well, maybe that's a slight exaggeration but I think you know what I mean. I'm 65 years young and Michaels is one of the authors I still go all fangirl over... and Michelle Fox is another. Yup, I'm also a diehard Michelle Fox fan and adore her work as well so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered these two very talented word slingers would be working together. Squeeee! I've been following Fox's Vampire Blood Courtesans since the release of Reborn: Myra, the inspiration for the series and first story in this spellbinding multi-author collaboration. All the books in the series are either full-length novels or novellas and can be read as standalones in any order but I highly recommend at least reading the first book which lays the groundwork for the entire Vampire Blood Courtesans World. However, several of the stories do have sequels and although Escape does not conclude with a cliffhanger, it does end with a happy-for-now. The story continues in a second book entitled Freedom: Flora releasing January 24, 2017.
I adore stories featuring anything paranormal or supernatural and have been completely smitten with sexy vampires since I read Bram Stoker's Dracula fifty years ago, but give me a combination of both generously seasoned with danger, drama, suspense, humor, witty banter, malevolent enemies, handsome brooding vampires, beautiful plucky heroines and steamy romance, and I'm in heaven! And that's exactly what Michaels has delivered with Flora's story! Escape is an exciting, fast-paced, highly imaginative, exceptionally well-crafted and edited paranormal tale filled to the brim with heart-stopping danger, heartbreaking drama, spine-tingling suspense, heart-pounding action, heinous villains, evil machinations, heated attraction, fiery passion, sweet romance, supernatural creatures, and, of course, sexy vampires. Hubba! Hubba! This story has it all! The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is smart, witty, well-executed, at times humorous, and flows beautifully. But without a doubt, my favorite and the most notable component of all Michales' stories is always the cast of fascinating characters. I was instantly smitten with the two protagonists of this story, beautiful nineteen-year-old non-shifting human/wolf hybrid Flora MacNaughtonand dark handsome brooding vampire Maxwell Steele. The lovely longsuffering Flora was brave, clever, quick-witted, sassy, and determined but very much a Scottish country lass whose only respite was working with horses and more at home in the stables than in the city. Maxwell was a dark brooding hero resentful of being turned into a vampire yet he was also intelligent, confident, assertive, powerful, and wealthy. Max was no longer the proud Scot he had been born but had now taken a new name along with his new identity as an American. Although Flora and Maxwell were both born in Scotland and both had horrible fathers, these two characters could not have been more different, yet complemented each other perfectly. Their attraction was immediate, their interaction electric and their passion...undeniable. And their sexual chemistry was so hot it sizzled! Quite often, I found myself laughing at the cheeky banter between these two characters. I was instantly smitten with both protagonists but, oh my goodness, Flora was a real hoot! It was beyond entertaining. I was totally mesmerized. I laughed, I cheered, and I cried as my heart broke for Flora... and loved every single minute! This story is relatively short, actually novella length coming in at approximately 108 pages, but it's mighty and packs quite a punch. In my experience, when a book is not a full-length novel, sometimes the characters feel underdeveloped and the story seems rushed, but this is never the case with Michaels' books. She is a truly gifted storyteller with a boundless imagination and an abundance of talent. She excels at creating detailed and beautifully depicted worlds populated with fascinating, colorful characters. I'm always impressed by the craftsmanship of Michaels' books. They're always exceptionally well-crafted and edited with beautiful covers. Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some steamy, dreamy love scenes. Escape can be read as a standalone novella length paranormal romance released as part of Michelle Fox's Vampire Blood Courtesans Kindle Worlds Collection and does include a wonderful happy-for-now ending but you can read more about Flora and Maxwell in the sequel, Freedom, releasing January 24, 2017. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I've read most of the books in this collection and loved them all. I was lucky enough to be sent this book as an ARC to preread before release. Here is my review.
I have read other books by this author and enjoyed each one in turn. This is a different style of book. If I am honest I wasn't sure whether I would enjoy it as these are not books I have read in the past. So the story starts with Flora, a hybrid, half human half wolf not able to shift. Escape is about Flora and how she escapes the terrible life she is in living with her father's wolf pack. She runs away to the house of a Vampire. Without giving away the story, no spoilers here. The story is well written and has a way of drawing you in to her story, her life. Flora's mother died leaving her in the hands of her father, a nasty vicious man who lets his wolves abuse her. Flora's knows if she doesn't get out the abuse will take a further turn ending with her either constantly pregnant as a breeder or dead. Taking a chance with a Vampire as his Courtesan, or a breeder for a pack of vicious wolves. She packs a bag and sneaks out, aided by the only friend she has, fleeing across the countryside before she has been discovered missing, she arrives at the castle...... This Vampire is tall, quiet incredibly sexy, if you want to know more, read it. You wont be disappointed, the twists and turns keep you enthralled. Recommended A ********* Thank you xx

This is a very good Vamp/Werewolf/Human story unlike any that I have read. Flora is a young woman who lost her human mom and was taken in by her very abusive Alpha father. She spends most of her time down in the horse stable. Well a friend let's her know of a job that she may want to go apply for. Flora only wants free of her father and his pack so she would take anything. Well what she gets is more than she could have ever hoped for.
Maxwell isn't too thrilled to be back in Scotland so many horrible memories but alas he must do what he must. While there he needs a Courtesan but what he gets is so much more. Well things almost go totally wrong until a beauty walks in unannounced. He will make her his.
I enjoyed this book very much and hope to read more soon. This author always has a way of giving me one heck of a good book to read.

I enjoyed this book very much and hope to read more soon. This author always has a way of giving me one heck of a good book to read.

This story is of a young woman Flora that is half werewolf. Her Mother dies and her father takes her into his pack only he abuses her and allows his pack to do the same!. She just wants to get away from him so when she learns of an ad wanting young women to try out to be blood courtesan's for a visiting Vampire she jumps at the opportunity!. The Vampire Maxwell chooses Flora as she is different from all the rest. There is something that drws him to her. Flora knows this is her only chance to get away from her abusive father only shevis a little afraid as she is a virgin lol. Can Flora find her escape through Maxwell?. And in doing so will she loose her heart to him?.
This is a Stunning, exciting, funny, sweet, suspenseful, and scorching hot romance you will love!!!.

Maxwell has returned to his childhood home to settle his fathers estate and is looking for a blood courtesan to serve his needs while he's there, when Flora arrives offering herself, he has eyes for no one else.
When Flora's very angry Alpha father comes demanding the return of his 'property' Max finds himself taking drastic action to keep flora safe.
I was totally caught up in Flora's desperation to escape a life not worth living, making this a riveting read and Max's drastic actions had me wide eyed and holding my breath. Loved it.

Great book, story is light, fast reading, nothing complicated in it, just fun and a sex Vamp.

I absolutely loved this book!!!! Maxwell Steele and Flora's characters were amazing in this story. The escaping of Flora's father all the way to the ending had me hooked! Didn't put it down for a single second!! Although, I do have to admit Ava's books never disappoint me, so this was no surprise. Great work, Ava!!!!!!Escape: Flora

I really enjoyed ready about Flora and Maxwell's story. Flora's life was heartbreaking. Maxwell's story was devastating. Would Flora's plan work out for the best? Would Flora and Maxwell overcome their problems? Sorry no spoilers here. You will just have to read for yourself. Quick read when life and holidays don't interrupt you. Ava stories have always engulfed me and this was no exception.

Flora is the halfbreed child of a werewolf alpha and a human woman, When her mother dies her father is honour bound to look after her but honour has little to do with it. He and his pack treat her poorly, hit her and treat her as a slave as if she was worthless. In a desperate move, Flora goes to attend an audition as a vampire's blood courtesan so she can earn the money to get some independence and escape her father and his pack. Vampire Maxwell needs to go to Scotland to sort out his father's estate and so needs a blood courtesan for the duration of the visit. Can Maxwell keep her safe from the pack and can they both part from each other at the end of their arrangement?
This was a story full of lots of danger, drama and excitement as both Maxwell and Flora learnt to survive a circling werewolf pack, dangerous encounters with vampires and an attraction for each other that might be hard to end when his business is complete. Max and Flora...I think I love them.
Somehow this review did not go thru but I am fixing that right now! This series is so good and even though it is supposed to be a business arrangement between a vampire and a Courtesans it turns into love. This book is no different. Max knows what he wants when he sees the striking young lady and he does not stop until he gets her. Flora is a halfbreed and her father the alpha of a wolf clan in the area treats her like carp. Flora needs to escape and if this vampire is willing to pay her for her body and blood. Then that's what she will do. Come find out what happens

I love reading a good vampire story and this is no different.

Will Flora be able to feed Maxs' apatite and not fall for him? Can Max keep Flora from her father after he leaves or will he falls in love with her? Read the first of a 2 part story to find out

Fantastic read
This was such an awesome read. I don't know where to start. I love Flora. She's got sass, spunk, and great amusement. Max well give me that Vampire any day. This journey is done very well. The writing and flow of this book is great. I love the Courtesans, and highly recommend you don't miss this one.

Another good book!
You just come accustomed to know what to expect from AK Michaels. She is the queen of paranormal and this book was no different.
Flora's story was intriguing from the first page. From the issues she has grew up with, to the life she enters now. I admit, I wanted to jump into thee book and slap her dad good looking.
I enjoyed this story and now I want more of Flora.

Heartbreaking, I cried buckets. Loving: my heart felt like it would burst. This was a very emotional story. I loved it! Once again AK Michaels and Michelle Fox did justice to this series. Any who love vampire stories will appreciate this story.

I think this is my favourite from the Courtesan series. It combines wolves, Vampires and Scotland, 3 of my favourite things.
Escape - is an action packed storyline with a fiesty young female in the midst of a decision that will change her life.

Max and Flora is a beautiful story. There is love, passion and happiness along with respect and honesty between the characters. I wish it were longer, but at least there is a second part so here I go again.

These Blood Courtesans books are great as they are a quick read and can be read as a standalone although there is some series continuity.
This one is Violet who is hiding a problem that can kill vampires that bite her & Pyrgos who finds her fascinating as she only wants him for his Data!
A very enjoyable read as all of these books seem to be.
