No Trespassing

Rate this book
Being the daughter of world-renowned archaeologists, it’s in Emmy’s blood to want entry into the many off-limits historical places around the United States. Having graduated with her degrees in history and archaeology, you’d think she could just waltz right in wherever she wanted, right? Wrong. Dean Savageman, host of The Adventure Channel’s No Trespassing, is the rock star of documentaries, and is always called first to explore the most forgotten, dangerous, and inaccessible places around the country. No one gets dibs before him—certainly not the huffy wanna-be archeologist who keeps showing up at the most obscure undocumented locations, no matter how beautiful she is. After years of run-ins—and unwanted fantasies—with her self-proclaimed mortal enemy and having given up on gaining entry to one of her dream sites the legal way, Emmy sneaks into the NOLA Catacombs, having no idea Dean is in their depths. What happens when these two get trapped together, alone, twenty-five feet under the streets of New Orleans is one for the history books, or at least an episode of… No Trespassing.

No Trespassing by K.D. Robichaux
Standalone Contemporary Romance
Millionaires, rock stars, motorcycles, stepbrothers, teachers, Doms, tattooists, porn stars, cops, firemen, sports stars... we've read them and loved them. But when something different comes along, it's like a breath of fresh air. I had such a great time reading No Trespassing by KD Robichaux . She is a new author to me, and she just happened to catch me online and asked be to review her book. It's a cross between Indiana Jones and a hot and slightly cheesy instalove. An easy and fun read, I blew off a few responsibilities to read it, and even snuck in a few pages at a concert.

Emmy is a young wanna-be archeologist who runs an adventure blog. She grew up with very well known parents who met making a famous discovery in the Egyptian pyramids. Emmy is more comfortable underground, alone in a room of bones, than in a public setting. She has been an introverted nerd her whole life, and her only focus has been to get in a good site and make a discovery.  But Dean Savageman, the host of the most popular show on the Adventure Channel always gets there and uses his clout to get in right before her.

Emmy HATES the gorgeous archeologist with every ounce of her being. Yet she has the adventure channel on her TV 24/7 and has never missed an episode of his show, because he is doing everything she ever dreamed of. Personally, I loved Emmy. She is totally a girly girl, despite being this cool archeologist, and she had some really cute inner thoughts. Her only friends are her roommate and fellow nerd, and a gay couple she has only met online. I love her relationship with them. And I totally related to this thought:
"I message Calvin back, using the same butterfly filter. Can this thing just follow me around everywhere I go?"

Aaah, if we could only all wear filters in real life? But I digress. Even though Emmy knows Dean is hot, and she has gone to bed to his voice for 2 years, she really and truly hates Mr. Savageman. So when she gets trapped in catacombs underneath New Orleans with the man, she lets him know how she feels in no uncertain terms.
“You site-stealing, dream-crushing, arrogant bag of dick tips!”

Dean has seen her at his sites. He could tell she wasn't a groupie, but she always disappeared. He started to think she might be a ghost, but she was a ghost he had a hell of a lot of fantasies about.

As they are forced to work together to possibly make a monumental discovery, Emmy realizes he's not such a dick.
"He literally offered me the shirt off his back."

In fact, the sexual tension is getting super thick. So when he has to pick her up on his shoulders to see something, she gets a little worried.
"Please, help a sistah out and don't let me soak the man's neck. No wetty right now, okay? Pretty please?"

Teehee. She was so cute and clumsy, yet so smart. He was so handsome, commanding and in control. And when they finally gave in...damn. He was HOT.
“This pussy is mine. From now on, I’m the only one who gets to touch it. If it needs something, it’ll get it from me and me alone. Does it need something, Em?”

Likes:

•Totally unusual, unique storyline.
•I learned some stuff.
•Made me crave even more (I wish it were a series somehow, which I usually don't wish)
•I felt like I was in an Indiana Jones movie.
•The sex was hot (if you don't really think about where they are doing it).
•It was a quick, easy, fairly angst-free book.
•How there is no question in your mind that these two were supposed to be together.

Dislikes: (not really dislikes, just things I didn't love)

•The time skip. Give me the angst!
•I would have liked some more booby traps or danger (or rats?), for it to have been a little more challenging.
•It got a little cheesy sometimes. I don't mind insta-love (it happened to me!) but they got a little corny expressing that love within hours.
•I didn't know what was real and researched about the history and the catacombs, and what was made up for the book.

The Down & Dirty:
No Trespassing was like a breath of fresh air. Well, actually more like a breath of earthy, underground cave air, as most of the book took place in the catacombs beneath NOLA. It was fun, passionate, exciting and completely unique. Emma, the heroine, was a feisty nerd who made me laugh, and Dean was a sexy, take charge man with knowledge and experience. Who knew that archeology could be so fun and sexy? If you want a unique, fun and sexy read with insta-love, I highly recommend No Trespassing. I'm hoping she at least comes out with a novella to follow this up, because I want more!

New Orleans is a city steeped in legends and lore a city so rich with history not even a great fire or heck even a great hurricane can keep the citizens down for long. New Orleans natives know all about their fair city and all it has to offer and that’s why it’s an archeologist dream because so much of it may be lore or some of it may be true. It’s in the secret catacombs where Emmy meets her self-proclaimed worst enemy Dean Savageman.

Emmy is the daughter of two very famous archeologists. She prefers to hide in the dank caves and pyramids making the next discovery for her blog because you see Emmy is a serious introvert and has a fear of crowds. When she is once again told no in her city nonetheless, she drowns her sorrows in tequila. We all know what happens when we sling back that much tequila. You make crazy spur of the moment decisions and for Emmy that might make her do something that is totally out of character for her. She finds herself in the secret catacombs basking in being the first one there when disaster ensues. Dean swoops in to save the day. He has seen glimpses of Emmy at his other sites, but he assumed she was a ghost he picked up so when he looks down to see the girl who is not a ghost in his arms, he knows he has found the one. All the highs of history making finds and having his own tv show Dean has a good life but a life in the spotlight that won’t sit well with Emmy. While in the catacombs they discover each other and the history of Nola.

This was my first KD Robicheaux book and it won’t be my last. She gave me adventure, love and fan yourself sexy times. Seriously I didn’t think anyone reciting history facts like the sexy beast Dean is would be a turn on, but he makes it easy. Emmy alone is character. She is so innocent in a lot of ways but whip smart she truly was unique. I really love those adventure shows on tv like Expedition Unknown and of course I do love a good museum, so I really enjoyed this book. If you love these things and the city of Nola, then this is the book for you.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

After just finishing KD Robichaux's Bloggers diaries trilogy, I had to read more. I liked her writing style and I wanted to see what she could do out with her real life story...anyway, this book is amazing. I will admit at the begin, I hated Emmy. She was this moaning, nag that I thought would get on my nerves, but the moment she realised she was going into those catacombs with Dean, the whole story took a turn. I didn't want to put it down last night, but at 1.15am, I needed to stop. I was so glad I could pick it up today, just to finish it.
I have never read a story like this one. When you think of Egypt and history, you don't think you're going to read a romance novel and bloody enjoy it. No, I never imagined that. However, this has to be one of my all time favourite reads. It was fun, light and easy reading. The characters were believable. The story flowed well. I haven't got a negative thing to say.

I can't wait to read more by KD Robichaux.

Well done! 5 deserving stars!

The fact that this story said it was about archaeologists had me sitting on the fence however Kayla showed her talent for writing with this book and changed my mind very quickly on this storyline. This book had me captivated from the first chapter and had me sad when it was all said and done as I didn't want to end my time with Emmy and Dean. Who would have thought that a hot archaeologist with a heart as big as the finds he made could crawl his way under my skin. The storyline was refreshing from all the other romances I have read and believe me I have read a few and these characters were so loveable. The passion these characters portrayed for both their interests in life and each other was addictive. I dare you to read this story and not fall head over heels in love with Emmy and Dean.

As a blogger, you see some storylines over and over again, so it's so exciting when you read something fresh and new! No Trespassing and KD Robichaux take the reader on a fascinating, fun and fresh adventure about history, of all things! I know a lot of people think, really history? But this mix of National Treasure and No Limits is sooooo much fun!

Amelia "Emmy" is the daughter of renowned Egyptologists. They birthed a love of history and adventure in her early on and it's never waned. She travels the country seeking the undiscovered. She lives for this, there's only one little problem... HIM! Everywhere she goes, he's there, stealing her thunder!  He might fuel her fantasies but he's still a site stealing jerkoff!

As an abandoned little boy, Dean lived in a boy's home with too much time on his hands and a thirst for exploration. That thirst, and a wonderful caretaker, spawned a career as the rock star of the Adventure Channel.  Wherever he goes, dig sites open and woman follow. When he sees the beautiful woman at the several of his dig sites, he actually thinks she might be ghost he picked up along the way.

She hates him. He thinks she's a fantasy he conjured up. When they're trapped together in unexplored catacombs, they realize the greatest adventures might be found together!

I LOVED this book!! I wanted it to keep going and going and going, like the weekly episodes of my favorite shows! I adored Dean and Emmy and loved how the author captured one of my favorite cities! Emmy was ridicously funny and quirky, I loved the pop culture references and the sexy times were HOT. Like New Orleans in August, hot!! I so hope we see more of these two (and the other colorful cast of characters)!

Emmy is a Archeology Nerd. The daughter of two celebrated Egyptian archeologist parents, she has decided to concentrate her efforts on US digs and sites. Her blog should be on top of the archeology world with the sites that she finds except THAT man keeps getting in her way. The host of TV show No Trespassing, Dean Savageman is at the top of his game and about to steal another site from Emmy.

No Trespassing is great fun and a highly interesting read that follows two dedicated and, quite frankly, hilarious people through the catacombs of New Orleans (yes, they exist). KD made her leading lady such a goofy, sweet, innocent yet smart as a whip that you can't help but fall for her. She is that friend that can make us laugh and who we follow into any shenanigans she dreams up. Dean is a man's man also whip-smart and charismatic but with a solid down-to-earth personality.

The story itself takes place mainly under the city of New Orleans after Dean and Emmy get trapped there after an Emmy whoops moment. KD gave details and information (including mathematical theories) in an easy to understand way and that moved the plot of the story in a great way. As her characters learn about each other they follow the clues and unravel the puzzle to the "Atlantian Ring", adding a bit of exciting action to a sweet, sexy romance story.

Romance meets History Channel

Interesting twist on this enemies to friends trope romance. One of my favorite tropes!

Pros:
I liked the way they met, the way their lives intersected and the way they find each other again. I enjoyed their cat and mouse antics, and the way they challenged each other! There was loads of banter, heat and chemistry! They seemed like such a good fit, and had plenty in common which made their relationship feel real. They were a couple that you could genuinely root for!! I so wanted them to ride off into the sunset together and on towards their next archeological adventure hand in hand. I read most of the book with a smile painted on my face!

Cons: I didn’t especially care for what felt like an almost instalove connection once they were trapped in the same space. Just seemed too convenient and predictable which made it challenging to stay engaged in the storyline at times. I got overwhelmed and distracted by all the history and archeological details at certain points.

Overall it was a good story due to its uniqueness; highly recommend to any historical romance fans!!
My favorite by this author thus far is the Confession duet!! If you haven’t read that one, you’re missing out on a great twisty storyline. Very memorable!

This is the fourth book that I’ve read by this author and I look forward to many more exciting works from her down the road. I would not hesitate to read her again or to recommend her to others. I always love a book loaded with heat, humor and sarcasm and Kayla definitely delivers that in spades!

It was solid, I just wish that after they left the catacombs we had more of what happened in their relationship rather than a time jump.

This was very instalove, and honestly, I am not too mad about it.. haha it didn't too much like instalove in a way since we had some backstory, but not too much.

Dean was a sweetheart and he was so kind and patient with Emmy.

The writing was easy to follow and I loved the friend dynamic when we saw it with Erin and Emmy. I wish we had more of that or maybe more of Emmy and Nox's friendship haha.

I do like these kinds of books where it is action and mystery and romance.

If you are feeling like reading something like Indiana Jones, plus National Treasure with a hint of NOLA, then this would be the book for you!

This book was really great, quick read. I LOVED the setting of this book, it’s nothing like I’ve ever read and I’d really like to find more. Dean may have been a little too perfect but I still really enjoyed his character and his chapters. Insta-love may not exist to some but it does to many people.
This is my first book by this author but I really enjoyed the writing and the flow of the book so I’m likely going to be checking out more of her books.

I needed something to get me out of a reading slump and this was perfect. I knew from reading reviews that there was a bit of insta-love, but it really worked for this story. It helps that the authors inspiration for this book happens to be a show that I’ve loved watching before. Would read again!

This was such a great book! Dean is the alpha male that has the brains, the amazing body, and just oozes sex. He is front in center of a major tv show so he has people noticing everywhere he goes. Emmy is the nerdy girl that doesn't know that she is beautiful. She is a loner and has an amazing sense of humor. I would have to say my favorite part would be when Dean and Emmy have a dance of spewing out facts.

They are both archaeologist, but Emmy comes from parents that are know around the world. Emmy has known who Dean is for many years and every time she goes to explore new areas Dean is always the one who seems to be able to get to explore due to his famous status where Emmy can't even get her foot in the door. Except this time. She sneaks her way in after hours and Dean and Emmy end up getting trapped together. Sparks fly and the chemistry between them heats up.

The writing is amazing. You can feel the excitement of the exploration from the two characters. The characters are amazing. The book will make you laugh out loud and make you swoon over Dean.
Great read!

Amelia "Emmy" Crain was born with history and archaeology in her blood. It's her passion and her drive. She always seems to be bested by her rival, Dean Savageman.

Dean Savageman learned his love of history and archaeology when he was dropped off at an orphanage. Learning as much as he could from the caretaker, Dean turned his love of both into a burgeoning career. The only thing giving him pause has the been the beauty haunting him.

This story happens in a rather short time frame. There is quite a lot presented in the way of history and mythology which I found interesting. I found the characters very entertaining and I enjoyed the plot of the story.

This is the first I've read by this author and look forward to reading more by her.

Wow! This is such a different book. Not your typical romance, but a romance hidden inside an adventure like the movie National Treasure. So, Emmy’s dream is to travel to those little known places like the catacombs and she is always being beat to by Dean Savageman who is able to get in for his TV series. Finally she has enough and is determined to not be turned away again even if it means breaking in.

I loved the connection between Dean and Emmy and the way he was able to read her so well. It was so sweet and amazing. I truly loved how things went in Paris. It was a quick twist that I didn’t see coming at all.

This is the first book I have read of K.D's and I loved it. It's full of humor, adventure, nerdiness and sexiness.

Emmy and Dean fall fast and hard for each other. Dean may start out as Emmy's enemy but he quickly shows her he is not the person she thinks he is. Even after they're rescued and Emmy refuses to give in to seeing Dean anymore, he never stops trying. Emmy eventually realizes Dean is the one.

This book definitely was a different scene then what I usually read but I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more of K.D's books. My only complaint is that the book ended!

This book have a little of everything romance, comedy, some history and some hot scenes.

Great Love/Hate relationship between Dean and Emmy which turns into Love at Sight. When they come together, sparks fly between them and they can't get enough of each other. Both are brillant with background in History and Archeology and when they are thrown together under the city of New Orleans they fall in love with each others body and minds. It just took them sometime to work it all out in their heads, but their hearts knew they were soul mates. It is so captivating I couldn't put the book down. I did put it down briefly to attack my husband, which was caused by all the sexual tense between these two in the book. It was instant lust/ love at first sight, it was a feel good books with hot scenes and funny characters.

I have to be honest this is the first time that I have read any of KD Robichaux’s work and I must say omg she didn’t disappointed me at all, her writing style is utterly fantastic. I was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time while I was reading Emmy and Dean’s story. I just couldn’t put the book down it was so good and by the time I had finished I felt like I had just ran a marathon from all the emotions I had felt while reading No Trespassing. I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future because I love her extraordinary story weaving skills. If you haven’t read any of KD’s work I highly recommend that you do because I guarantee you’ll fall in love with her writing style and her personality that shows in her work just like I did.

I loved this book. Emmy and Dean were so good together. Emmy starts out hating Dean before she even meets him in person. One night after a slightly tipsy decision she ventures down to the catacombs in hopes of getting the first look before Dean, trouble ensues.
I loved Emmy, she is so funny and sweet and has some hilarious friends. Dean is so yummy and I loved how sweet he really turned out to be.
Read this book, it was amazing.

I grew up loving Indiana Jones and his crazy adventures. This book triggered all my youthful memories of adventure and exploring. I wanted to be an archeologist and still find history and abandoned and forgotten places intriguing.

Emmy and Dean brought me so much joy. This book took me longer than usual to read because I found myself living in the story. Feeling the excitement and overwhelming desire to discover the way they do. Their connection to each other is so solid it made my heart happy. K.D. had dine a fantastic job of bringing us the perfect combination of adventure and the sweetest love story.

This book just made my heart so happy. I highly recommend it

I loved this book so much! What an interesting twist on normal romance books. Yes this was insta love, but add in the mystery and suspense of being stuck underground with the heroine's nemesis and finding the hidden treasure, this book was pure gold. I didn't want it to end and I was so disappointed when it did. Yes, everything got wrapped up and I didn't feel like any part of the story was lacking, but I desperately wanted more Dean and Em!

I didn't expect much from this book. It was totally different from what I usually read and all the positive feedback just left me a sour taste (normally if a book has very good feedback, I hate it :-)) don't know why). But I decided to give it a go since I've had it on my shelf for a long time now. I was really bored at first, yadda yadda, couldn't wait to go to the exciting parts. And...oh boy, was I a freaking idiot! I loved this!

I have no idea about archeology and I had Google opened while reading and I was quickly searching images of what they were talking about because I felt like a total moron most of the time. However! I enjoyed these two characters so much. I'm a sucker for cocky, alpha men with a golden heart and for nerdy, sexy heroines who come to life with some help of the perfect man.

Emmy was cuteness overload. She made happy dancing each time she got something right, and she was hilarious. How she got mad at him when he got a boner or how she quickly realized Dean was not what she thought he was.

Dean is charming. Seriously. He's quickly overprotective, possessive and although I'm not very much into insta-love stories, this one got me hooked. He knows he was lucky to be where he was, he did not forget from where he started. He knows true love when he sees it and he falls quickly for the girl who so long he thought maybe was just a ghost who was following him. He's teasing her, protecting her and is willing to give her anything she wants.

I wish she was brave enough to give him a chance. After all, it wasn't his fault girls followed him everywhere or threw themselves at him. I wish she saw he was honest about his feelings faster.

I don't have many words to describe how much I've enjoyed this one. It was short, but it had a bit of everything. It was sweet, hilarious, sexy, it had a bit of angst. Damn.

I want more of these two. :-(

I loved the way the author described them in her ending notes. I couldn't find better words, so I will paste them here for future reference:

"The alpha male and the quirky girl who needs a little bit of saving. A hero with a heart of gold, even though he may not show it on the outside, and the heroine who is actually worth a lot more than she realizes. Adventure. Soul mates finding each other. True love's first kiss. And even a little bit of magic."

I received an ARC of this book from Hype PR.

This was an all around awesome book! The characters were great, the story line was great, and it was a really fun read. I would love to see more books with these two, there is so much potential for it!

I always love adventure type romances, and this definitely delivered. Emmy was a really interesting and fun character. She's an introvert, and is geeky (which I loved! Especially seeing all the fun geeky references throughout the book), and has a total lack of social skills. I think some of my favorite scenes were where she was doing crazy happy dances when she discovered something, because it's totally something I would do ;)

Dean was an awesome character. I loved his backstory, and the reason he loves to explore historical and off limit sites. He's a genuinely nice guy, and when he falls for Emmy their relationship is a whirlwind of adventure and love.

I normally don't like insta-love type romances, but this one totally sucked me in and I loved it. The whole theme of fate and the Atlantis Ring running throughout the story was just unique and sucked me into believing they were meant to find each other in the NOLA catacombs. There were some really great scenes that made me laugh and connect to the characters because it's something I myself would probably do. One scene they discover something about the Golden Ratio, and they start doing crazy dance moves while spouting random facts about it when they were excited about what they discovered. I LOVED this scene. It really made the characters come to life. Also I think one of my favorite references was the Eurotrip reference with Dean's text alert. THAT was awesome and had me laughing!

The only thing I didn't like about the book (and the reason I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 star rating) is because it just felt like in the end it was lacking. It jumped ahead 2 months, and I really wish we could have seen more of what happened throughout that time instead of just seeing a few references to what happened. There was SO MUCH potential there to add more to the story. I did however LOVE the ending it was really sweet, and I will read this one over and over.

If you love adventure romances, this is your book! I highly recommend it!

So I really really liked this book! I actually only ever used to read mystery type books, never romance. Now that I'm a fan of romance novels, and I've always loved enigmatic books, for me, this was the perfect blend of both. This is definitely an insta-love story, so if you're not a fan, then peace out. I don't mind a good ol insta-love story, as long as it's done tastefully. This had just the right amount of sweet and fire and I loved every second of it. Oh and some of the things that comes out of Emmy's mouth....hilarious!! Though really, Dean and Emmy are equally hilarious together.

Dean is just this sexy, rugged, maybe a little cocky, nerdy alpha male, while Emmy is this sweet, somewhat innocent, nerdy, fireball all rolled into a nice little package. They both are hilarious, and I love how Emmy's disdain for Dean turned into respect. It was pretty funny that he somehow always managed to over step her, unknowingly and I love all the "fate", not coincidence-ness in this book. I also loved Eurotrip, and that little reference in there had me giggling and definitely using that voice when reading that part. I also giggled at the little dance off/nerd knowledge battle they had going on, it was pretty cute. One other scene that kind of had my heart all melty was when Dean proclaims how he feels about Emmy when they're intimate, he goes off into this nerdy as hell rambling for a minute, but it was so damn cute.

This was just what I needed to read this time of the year. A breath of fresh air, lighthearted and fun and extremely enjoyable. I'm definitely a nerd at heart and I love The Mummy, and while this isn't quite like The Mummy, it has that sort of fun, exciting, feel to it. This was my first time reading this author and I'm intrigued to read more from her. Her writing style had a nice flow to it and I found the interactions between characters were easily relatable. Most definitely a new fan and I can't wait to check out her other work.

Seriously, when did archeology get so sexy? KD Robichaux totally knocks it out of the park with this book. Let me give you a few reasons why. First off, this story is so interesting. Am I a buff on this stuff? No, but it's written so well and you just know she researched it so thoroughly in order to weave such a captivating tale. Second, her heroine is awesome sauce. I loved Emmy and Dean's story so much that I had to message the author on FB to tell her. Even though the character is based on someone else, I totally thought she wrote herself into the role. Third, Dean is written in such a surprisingly sweet and intelligent way. He's exactly what you hope you'll get and pairs very well with Emmy.

I could go on and on, but I would rather you read this original and interesting story yourself. It makes the neurons fire. It's really a cerebral read in all senses of the word; sexy and smart all at the same time. Add in the panty-soaking scenes, perfectly-timed awkwardness, and dialogue, and you've got a 5 star read.

If you've read The Blogger Diaries trilogy, you'll see how Robichaux has grown and evolved as an author. I really can't say enough about how much I love her writing and this story. Please do yourself a favor and read the story. Don't forget to look at the cover photo while reading it...I mean, how can you not?!

Good job, KD.
