Issues one through six of the critically acclaimed serialized superhero novel. Called "A Wonder of Experimental Fiction" and likened to the work of Alan Moore, The Wonderboy Serials exposes a world entirely dependent on a lone superhero. Fame and near limitless power have led to the moral degradation of Wonderboy, forcing the world to reconsider their greatest protector.
Charles Martin & Will Weinke specialize in sub-culture, cross-genre fiction that utilize familiar themes to explore wider cultural questions. Charles Martin is also the Creative Director of Literati Press Comics & Novels.
Wonderboy (volumes one and two) is a very compelling story that I think represents the best of Martin's work. It captures all of the major developments that have taken place in the superhero genre over the past several decades and both condenses and extends them into something really interesting and unique. Think of a superhero who splits himself, literally, into a number of different personalities, each with different powers, and each with a different vision for their place in the world. Some are apologetic. Some are domineering and misogynistic. Some just want to be left alone (not gonna happen). All of them end up fighting it out as they're also fighting anarchists, terrorists, and their own sins and vices. This is the best book I've read in the last several years.
