The day Annetti meets Lars, things do not go well. Annetti is still struggling with the pain of her mother's death. Her father sends her out berry-picking, and she wears an old black muslin gown for the task. No wonder Lars mistakes her for a bear!

If only she possessed the beauty and easy charm of her cousin! Kelda seems to have everything, including the attention of the strapping young man with golden hair and sky-blue eyes. How can a plain and quiet girl complete against such odds?

When Annetti's father intervenes, she feels the pinch of embarrassment, followed by keen disappointment. Why does growing up have to be so hard?

I grew up as the middle child in a working class family--not the oldest, not the prettiest, not the boy, not the baby. I learned to work hard, but thankfully I also discovered God, who loves me and continually shapes me into His likeness. Yes, I'm a piece of work! But I'm His workmanship, and I trust His "work in progress" will turn out beautifully in the end.

After many years in the business world, the love for stories infected me. In my free time, I started writing ANNETTI, a Christian romance loosely based on tidbits my grandfather shared about his mother. However, publication eluded me.

The year my first granddaughter was born, I started writing PENNY & THE SEER'S BALLAD, an adventure into the world of Ellandria. Mid-story, I found it necessary to stop writing about Penny and instead flesh out the history and culture of Ellandria. The magical world of Whimsy Gatan emerged in the seventeen LEGENDS OF ELLANDRIA.

I'm pleased to make these available to readers at long last and hope to share more soon.

*I received a copy of this book through a Goodreads Giveaway, thank you! However, it doesn't affect my review.*

For me, a 3.5 stars rating would be the most accurate. Since I saw another review with a 3 stars rating while she felt the book was worth 3.5 stars, I'm leveling it with my 4 stars. :) Ok, after all the official talk, it's time for some explanation of my rating.

Annetti (also the name of the main character) is a nice, easy to read book. On the one hand, I liked the writing style; it made the story come alive. Although the book wasn't very indepth and the story didn't move quickly, I didn't want to put the book down, and I did read it in one day.

On the other hand, Annetti's low self-esteem that went on for years and thus throughout the book, got a bit annoying after a while. My biggest objection is the end of the book (when it all comes together). I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I won't mention what happens, but I personally couldn't relate to Annetti at all at that point. But ... that's different for all of us, of course.

Normally, a story like this would get 3 stars, but I think the fact that I didn't want to put the book down, shows that somehow there's more to this book than I can tell. I would definitely want to read the second book in this series.

I wanted to give this a 3.5. The story was about a young woman who felt overlooked and undervalued. She complained to herself throughout the book. Her self-worth was looks instead of her accomplishments and she never spoke up for herself. There was a great deal about her lack of faith, but not much about her gaining faith. The constant self-pity made the book not a 4.
