Good-time girl Cally Morgenstern has never paid much attention to the robots her father built to take care of her family. That is, until one night when her vibrator runs out of batteries. And hey, if you’ve got a six-foot hunky robot offering to relieve your sexual frustration, you’re not going to say no, right? Even if he is sort of, well definitely…blue?
Cally quickly realises that Blue isn’t your average robot. He’s rapidly acquiring a personality, for one thing. And an avid interest in human sexuality, particularly with regards to Cally. Her family don’t approve, but that’s never stopped Cally before. She’s eager to teach Blue all she knows about sexual pleasure, even if they have to build him a few necessary parts in the process. And even if Blue’s explorations of human feelings touch her own, very human, heart.
I wanted some smut, and this little book delivered. It was surprisingly deep, and sweeter than I expected. Overall, quite cute. Bonus: The proceeds for this series go to the ACLU!
Great short story that will leave you wanting a Love Machine of your own. I mean who wouldn't love a custom made Blue - a sexy robot with a great big...heart?
I went into this read blind. I usually look at reviews and spoilers and thank my book heaven that I didn't!
Not only is the cover HOT, the novel just blazed the hell out of my mind. Not only did I truly love all them smutty scenes but I loved the fact that the author could turn a hard, cold machine into a caring hunky man.
Robot or no robot, where can I get one of these?
He's blue, he explores and he experiences things in a new light. This novel becomes so much more when they get to building Blue a well-equipped... 'asset.'
I thought my reaction to this book was insane so I made my sisters read this. My diagnoses = Definitely Normal.
A semi-short read that you will enjoy immensely. The way it ends also touches at your heartstrings. It is a true sweet romance in all its glory
This book was fun and steamy. What starts out as something of a functional physical "friendship" turns into so much more as both Cally and Blue grow and mature through eachother. Lots and lots of loving and just enough character growth to keep it interesting. Definitely a fun and quick read.
Cally Morgenstern lived in a her childhood home with her sister IIsa, brother Jonathan and three robots, Blue, Red and Green. Cally’s dad Vincent created the robots as servants for them and when he died he left them in the care of his three children. Cally could care less about the robots and invested none of her time getting to know what made them tick. Her sister IIsa knew everything about the robots and created programs which she downloaded into them. All Cally worried about was her job and sex; she especially loved her vibrator and, of course, tormenting her siblings.
One day, Blue walked into Cally’s room as she threw her vibrator across the room. The batteries were dead and so was her entertainment for the night. When Blue makes Cally an offer she can't refuse I knew this story was about to get very interesting.
This was an unusual story in that the object of her affection was a big blue robot that developed feelings for the main character. When he turned his fingers into a supersonic vibrator which almost made Cally pass out, this reader wished there was a big blue robot at her beck and call.
As I said, Love Machine was an unusual tale, it was sexy, unique, and a love story. It was interesting to watch Cally realize her fears and to come to grips with her love for Blue and Blue’s love for her. This was a quick read but an enjoyable one.
The concept of a horny young lady making use of her father’s robots to gratify herself caught me off-guard and I found the premise intriguing, so I jumped in. (Okay, call me shallow.) The situation also seemed slightly humorous, and I’m always up for a good laugh. The tone of the story was indeed light and witty.
My favorite part of the story turned out not to be the graphically laid out sexual shenanigans. Instead it was the psychological thriller aspect of the relationship that flowers unexpectedly between the very human-looking robot and the heroine. For me, that was the real page turner.
I received this book as an ARC and voluntarily reviewed.
This was a funny, sexy, steamy read and I loved it. This book reminded me of Bicentennial Man also a movie that I loved (the robot with the human emotions). I wonder what will happen next between Blue and Cally... I must confess that I did not see Blue as a robot at all, to me he seemed a lot more human. A great short story by Electra Shepherd and I look forward to reading the sequels in this series. Thanks to TBC and Electra Shepherd for the opportunity to review.
However unlikely an erotic story about a relationship between a girl and a blue robot may sound this book actually makes it work! I felt drawn to Blue, the robot, and by the end I was really rooting for him. This a fun story, quick to read, full of hot love scenes - and don't worry, the fact that he's a robot ends up being funny rather than weird!
This book was exactly the emotional reset I needed. It’s cute, it’s spicy, it’s sweet in all the ways that make your chest warm, and it works perfectly as a palate cleanser. The relationship between Blue and her is just adorable. There’s this soft, steady tenderness beneath all the heat that makes the whole story feel comforting.
Watching her catch feelings for him and actually feel real happiness come back into her life was genuinely heart squeezing. It’s the kind of book where you smile without noticing, then suddenly you’re kicking your feet. The tension is fun, the chemistry is bright, and the romance feels like someone opening a window after you’ve been holding your breath too long.
I loved the ending Blue finally admitting he has been in love with her but was worried he was nothing more the a object to her. The way that she finally let someone in and fell for Blue so hard is just muah 💋.
Hmmmm well, what can I say about this short, sweet and sexy book? If you don’t like erotica then this is not the book for you. If you do read this kind of thing and fancy something a little different in this genre, then this is a great quick read. The book obviously includes graphic sex scenes, however there is also a little more to keep the reader interested. The story dips into the journey of Blue (the robot lead) in becoming more human and the realisation by Cally (the human lead) that she wants more out of her life than a one night stand. This is essentially a love story that crosses the boundaries of human / machine interactions and explores what humanity is all about (with lots of sex thrown in). It was fun!
This was kind of a cute story. I thought the emotional drift that Blue experienced was done pretty well. The sex was ok but, to be honest, Cally was too much of a party girl for me to get the sense anything memorable was happening between them.
The pining could have been amped a little more, I thought, but it’s difficult to do that with short stories. Still, I would have gladly forsook the extra sex scene 10% of the ending (that as another reviewer mentioned, went nowhere) for some more pining from either of them.
Looking at the blurbs for the other 3 books, they don’t look appealing to me so I’ll be stopping here.
One great thing about this book was: it didn’t include a bittersweet epilogue with human death segueing into robot unaliving himself.

I'm a fan of the Chester 5000 erotic steampunk graphic novel, so this book made nice change from my usual diet of horror and serious scifi. The book ticks off all the tropes and expectations, so that a reversal occurs where I expected, as do the peaks and climaxes - and that's not a criticism at all. The book is built to a formula to give pleasure, exactly as the robot Blue is within the narrative. Form fits theme. It also doesn't overstay its welcome like some novels do, grinding on repetitively. This is short and sweet, giving you what you need with no nastiness, and leaving you with a smile. Recommended.
Blue has been a household robotic servant in Cally's family for years. After her sister uploads her latest chatbot software into him, he begins to achieve sentience and falls in love with Cally. Sparks really begin to fly when Cally's vibrator batteries die. When does a robot stop being just a robot and becomes something more? Can a robot and a human find love together?

Debo admitir que no esperaba mucho de este libro y también que no era el libro que más me llamaba la atención, pero no estuvo tan mal. Fue súper ligerito y que se lee muy bien.
Blue me gustó, sin embargo, Cally me costó un poco más que me guste.
A short, funny, and undeniably sexy romance between a robot and a woman that somehow makes you care about both circuits and feelings. It’s playful and steamy, with just enough depth to make you think about the big question: what actually makes us human? Delightfully weird in all the right ways — a quick read that’ll leave you smiling (and a little hot).
I love Electra Shepherd (Julie Cohens) books. They are all a page turner and well worth the time to sit quietly and peacefully to read. Shame it wasnt long enough but I bought the other 3 to go along with this and going to read them now.
I did have some doubts about this book. I couldn’t understand how a sexual relationship between a human and a robot would work. But, to my surprise, it worked really well and it was a truly fascinating book.
After watching Alien Covenant I needed some Daniels x Walter in my life. I came across this in the Kindle store and read it in one sitting. I would suggest it be an evening read. ;)
I thought it was gonna be all smut and kink, but ended up being a cute sci-fi romance in my opinion. It had good character development and also a pretty good plot. Overall enjoyed reading this.
