Rate this book
In this six-session video Bible study (DVD/digital video sold separately), New York Times bestselling author Ann Voskamp takes us on a personal journey along the broken way. The broken way beckons you into more time, more meaning, more authentic relationships. There's a way, especially when things aren't shaping up quite like you imagined, that makes life take the shape of more--more abundance, more intimacy, more God.

Ann Voskamp asks the following questions not one of us can afford to

How do you live your one broken life?
What does it mean to live cruciform and learn to receive?
What do you do if you really want to know abundant wholeness--before it's too late?
There's a way of honest, transformative power. Dare to take the broken way--to abundance.

This is an excellent accompaniment to The Broken Way book. The 6 videos are about 20 minutes each and Ann covers various topics she raises in the book using the same stories. There's that old saying that it takes 7 times of repetition before something new sinks in so being reminded of these stories, Ann's takeaways and responding to the questions and actions in the study guide really help consolidate the learnings from the book.

The videos are beautifully created with gorgeous scenery and Ann speaks the way she writes.

The study has 3 components to it:

- notes on the 20 minute video
- discussion questions based on the video content
- work to do between sessions that enable you to practice what you've covered in the previous 2 plus has a small bible study component focusing on a short passage of Scripture.

The later is challenging suggesting we reach out to serve, share our brokenness and engage in another's brokenness to provide 3 examples of the actions.

This is designed as a group study and I did it it on my own but feel its benefits would be maximised in a group situation.

Highly recommended if you've read Ann's The Broken Way as it takes you even deeper.

Real Koinonia is the chapter that spoke to me the most. It deals with regrets and Satan's lies. Paul said for us to forget what is behind us and press on. VosKamp presses further by saying "Maybe the miracle of real happens when you let the pain make passion. Maybe that makes us real. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ."

After reading the book and study, I learned several things:
1. Live in the today. Look for where I can serve today, right now.
2. Don't focus on what I don't have.
3. It is okay to not be okay.
4. Right where I am God calls me.
5. Culture hides suffering. I have a tendency to hide, to turn inward. Instead, turn outward, share our suffering in order to be a blessing.

A great compliment to the book in helping to apply the concepts. I really liked the letter writing part. Could use more length, her stuff is always short and sweet.

I loved walking the journey of Ann Voskamp's Broken Way. At times it was painful but the study was encouraging inner growth and maturity. I have bits of the material lingering in my head and feel the study will be one I will do every few years. Life is about learning and growing and this study encourages it.
