Evidence of the lost continent of Atlantis exists throughout the modern world. As do powerful groups who do not want Atlantis—and its secrets—to be rediscovered.
Historians Cameron Thorne and Amanda Gunn stumble upon a mysterious spiral necklace and a 12,000-year-old human skull, sparking their search for Atlantis and its true legacy. But are modern-day Knights Templar and a cabal of goddess worshipers conspiring against them? Only after a whirlwind of international travel and a violent encounter with a shadowy paramilitary group do the mysteries of Atlantis finally reveal themselves.

This book has a little bit of everything. There is love, hate, family, friends, country, individuality, lies, truth, fact, fiction,. And, I could go on. The story moves quickly and the characters are believable and lovable, or not. Fun read that leaves you wondering whether some of the fiction is fiction indeed. Is Atlantis really a myth? While the book is part of a series, it easily stands alone, which I like. I have read several other books in this series and have enjoyed each one. They are all well written, and each one leaves you thinking.
The subject of the story, i.e. The title of the book is why I gave it two stars. The religious aspect, or belief if you will, is repetitive and takes away from the enjoyment of the story. This was the second book of this series (both free) that I have read and both have the same connotation. Two things are learned, one, I am glad the books were free, and two, I will not read another even if it is free.
This the 2nd book I’ve read in series and it was worth it. It has action, mystery, history and more. If you like historical reading with action, read this series.
I love the intrigue of this story in particular, as I already had an interest in Atlantis. My knowledge however was little, and based off of what I learned through other outlets, including Edgar Cayce. I had no idea where this story was headed when I first dove in, and I wondered if anything would tie into what I already knew. It did not, and that’s great because I was able to learn more, and get a completely fresh, unique perspective. One part that stood out to me most was when Amanda travelled around the world with a woman who sought to prove the existence of Atlantis. She did this by following the timelines of when other ancient peoples lived, and when their culture/society was at its peak, and also when they fell. The timelines matching up with Atlantis gave a strong argument for its existence. Personally, I believe it did exist, and it’s a fascinating area of study that I’d like to explore more. I’m looking forward to checking out the links found at the end of the book.
Other than the intrigue of Atlantis, this story has an intense plot filled with action, danger, spies, and international feuds with a wide array of characters. While I feel there could have been less a focus on politics, and feuding, Brody does an excellent job of weaving everyone and everything together. Just when you think “how the heck does this tie in?” and “where is he going with these characters?”, there’s a resolution that unfolds one piece at a time to give you those satisfying “ah ha” moments.
This book, with it's parallel tracks, (history, legend and adventure) integrated much better than the last novel (#5), but not quite as good as the first four novels in the series. Cam and Amanda seem to be getting smarter-slowly at ferreting out double crossing conspirators, but they are much better at making connections between facts than between people. Still, it makes for an interesting and enjoyable read.
Okay, perhaps it is a simple case of Thorne/Gunn/Astarte fatigue after reading the first five books in the series, but I just couldn't get interested in this book. Perhaps there were too many sub-plots and characters. I don't know. Perhaps Cam and Amanda are now being written as unbelievably clever and physically adept. Whatever it was I often did not read it at all for days at a time. Opinions vary, but I rate this one a real stinker.
He has written another excellent story. I love history and Brody does not let his readers down. Great characters and plots that he weaves through out the story to keep your interest keeps you up at night to see what happens next. Having been to many of the sites that he includes makes it even more interesting. I have downloaded Book 7 and I can not wait to get started.
David S. Brody has once again written a page turner in his book "Echoes of Atlantis.". Once again, I love the suspense and the tangle of relationships that pop up in his books. This story contains international intrigue that includes actors from China, Korea, the Druze, an American corporation, the Masons,a group run by an old Jewish survivor from a Nazi death camp,a group of women who believe themselves to be descended from Atlantis. A spiral necklace mysteriously appears on Cam and Amanda's porch one snowy morning. It changes colors like the old mood rings when it touches Amanda's skin. Meryn appears to instruct Amanda on the history of their people and how to use the spiral. Meryn claims to be Amanda's great aunt and whisks her around the world to various sites to prove the existence of the legendary Atlantis Abraham, the old Jewish survivor from a death camp, is meeting with different groups to show them that he can use his spiral necklace to turn lead into gold. It's Abraham's gold making machine that draws in China, Korea, and the Druze. China wants to stop the machine because it will cheapen the value of gold and they are a major provider of the metal. Korea needs money and a gold making machine will solve that. The American corporation needs to stop anything to do with Atlantis because they want to drill for oil where Atlantis used to be and the United Nations won't permit that if it's proven that there are signs of human habitation in the area. The adventure is in our little family surviving the plotting of all these different groups. As usual, take your time to research some things on your own. Is Lilith really named in the Old Testament, or is she in one of the Apocrypha? The Catholic Church does not currently teach that the world is only 6,000 years old and has not for quite some time. It's an exciting read and even Mr. Brody admits he's taken liberties with some facts to tell his fictional story. Just keep that in mind
We Crones must stick together. Anyway, it's time I did a review of a novel by Brody without jumping all over him with both feet. So this time I'll jump with only one. The story is so twisty it's forgotten where it is and isn't twisted. You've heard of double cross. Maybe triple cross. Maybe even quadruple cross. But here so many people are crossing so many other people that it's hard to keep track of who is crossing whom in this chapter. Or who is on whose side right now. As usual, I accept Brody's evidence but often disagree with his conclusions. But don't let my objections to the interpretations of evidence stop you from reading a fantastic (in more than one sense of the word) novel.
Having read several of David S Brody's Templars/Pre-Columbus American History Hypothesis books, Echoes of Atlantis does not disappoint. The author does a great job of intertwining actual historical phenomena with a heaping helping of action-packed adventure and danger that keeps the reader turning the pages. Although I enjoy the stories immensely, I also find that Brody's added contribution of historical images tied into the story is fascinating and his added web links for the reader to further investigate the details of the historical sites mentioned in the book to be an enormous wealth of information.
Did an island and culture exist in the Atlantic ocean?
The legend of Atantis has tornados in facts such as a massive flood changing geography. I do not this I can wrap myself around this legend completely. However it was interesting how people wanted to rewrite history sacrificing others. I don't intolerance or politics have changed since I was a child but it is Millington writing and modern social media. This bookshops my feeling though.
It is a nice adventures and action story. I would have thought there would be more elements of exploring into Atlantis, but is more focused on today's world with the fight between secret societies, who either want to preserve Atlantis knowledge or destroy it. There are to many voices in the story and I got lost a bit in the story lines, trying to keep up of who is who. But if you like action, this is book to read.
A researchers wife is duped in believing she one of a group of Atlantis decendants. She is given a spiral necklace that only they have. This necklace has been know to produce gold from metal. Now everyone wants it, except the group that doesn’t want anyone to to believe Atlantis ever existed at all. Is Atlantis real? Does the spiral necklace really make gold? Will the industrialist strike them all down and all clues to a real Atlantis disappear forever.
I absolutely love this author!!! He makes all of his novels adventures and I am certainly along for the ride. Also because a lot of his research is based on true facts, and with the inclusion of illustrations throughout his books, he not only paints the picture, he makes you want the story to not only continue but makes one want to immediately move on to the next adventure. Major kudos and 10 thumbs-up.
Once again, David Brody takes the reader through a fast-paced adventure in researching the lost city of Atlantis and how it ties into the history of the Knights Templars and Freemasons. An exciting tale of intrigue and mystery surrounding the age old legend of being able to turn lead into gold, with everyone trying to get rich at Cameron and Amanda’s expense. A fun read for those not feint of heart.
Good character development, twisty plotlines, and real settings combine with constant forward motion to make this an interesting story about political, cultural, and racial factions either wanting Atlantis' existence proven or disproven. A list of what Amanda was shown as proof seemed extraneous and repetitious, and I paged through rather than reading it, because it bogged the forward motion for me.
This is the fourth book I have read by Mr Brody and I have enjoyed them all. Although I don't agree with the viewpoints as they pertain to Christianity, I do enjoy the historical and archeological aspects of the stories. I do have a comment regarding the character Astarte. I feel she is quite insignificant to the storyline.
A story of the descendants of these lost city of Atlantis. Brings to light the fact that the loss of the city could have been as much as 12000 years ago. A fictional story which uses real sites to emphasise the possible authenticity of the possibility of Atlantis and its demise. Incredibly believable..
Once again this is a fast moving story with lots of archeological questions which leave you wondering about history and whether what we were taught in school was the whole truth. Fascinating read and leaves me wanting to visit some of the places in the North West as well as in Europe.
And the story continues down a different road... This branch off from the author to the subject of Atlantis had many twists and turns, but as always is backed up by many artifacts and events from actual history. It is full of food for thought.
Interesting, attention grabbing and fast paced this book was almost impossible to put down. The theories and historical information was intriguing. Will read more from this author
The overall story is entertaining, but hard to follow with the plots twists and double twists. Seems to be jumping back and forth a bit too much. About the time I was ready to give up on reading it, I got pulled back in and was glad I finished it. B
Wonderfully written, easy to follow, smooth flowing read with unpredictable surprises around every corner and twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. Opened up several subjects that make me want to do further research. Recommend any book by Mr. Brody.
I love how David S. Brody incorporates true archaeological finds into his stories using facts and weaving them into his stories. Lots of action, great characters and story line, and really makes you think. Makes me want to see in person all the archaeological sites he describes.
The author has written a very interesting and intriguing story by using of some interesting truths to enhance that story. Great reading for anyone who enjoys action, suspense and intrigue.
Combine a mystery with multiple secret organizations, bad states, ancient secret sects and you get a fascinating plot line filled with non-stop action and lots of drama. I am hopeful that Mr Brody had a sequel in the works as I would love to read it.
Naive American artifacts, remnants of Atlantis, and Jewish rights all combine to tell a tale across the ages. Too bad the tale includes liars, assassins, and the exploited in this tale of dangerous adventures, myths, and history. I loved it!
Another fun yet dangerous romp with Cameron and Amanda. I loved that the undercurrent of this story is family, and what a person dies to protect theirs. As usual, lots of action here, and a lot of history. Very enjoyable. Recommended.
I chose the rating because Brody writes a strong story. The characters continue. to grow and the story's amazing. It's a great book. I`d recommend it to anyone who likes this type of story.
