Different town every week means a different woman in my bed. No complaints here. That’s how I f*cking want it.
One look of my handsome smile has them weak in the knees. One touch of my rock hard muscles has their panties dropping. One night of pounding with my pierced, tattooed c*ck and they beg me to stay.
But when the weekend’s over, I move on to the next town, and next woman.
Until Emily.
One look at the beautiful blonde and I know she’s the one I want in this town. One taste of her innocence and I need more.
The last thing she wants is anything to do with me; she know’s I’m nothing but trouble — until a fight with her parents pushes her straight into my arms.
I’ll be damned if I’m letting her walk away, no matter what her rich parents think of their precious princess with a bad boy.
I finally have a woman I wanna keep. I’m not letting her go now.
*** A steamy STANDALONE contemporary romance with a smoking hot alpha. No cliffhanger, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after.***
Love conquers all... that's the right phrase to explain this story, it has some originality in it and definitely some super lovable characters plus fans of insta-love/lust are gonna love it (I'm one of them).
The whole story was very sweet and enjoyable, Steel and Emily caught my heart from the beginning of the book, their relationship is going to overcome many obstacles they are from different worlds and so many parameters will try to break them apart but against all odds they will prove everyone wrong.
It is like a modern fairytale where the bad boy will fall for the forbidden sheltered girl, sweet and enjoyable dialogues and hot scenes make the story even more interesting. There were some parts that seemed a little bit rushed but overall it was a great story with a very sugary epilogue, I certainly recommend it and i can't wait to read the next book the author will create.
This is my honest review, don't let that ever stop you from buying and reading it yourself!
I didn't enjoy this one as much as I've noticed others enjoyed it. I was rolling my eyes from the start and was thinking my eyes would stay upright..
To be very honest I'm in a different kind of mood, I can't stand a lot and can't enjoy much.. Maybe that's what this is actually about.
Steel was an annoying H who was sure he was the best thing in the world.. Emily/Goldie was annoying because she just let her parents walk all over her just because she's a girl she needs to think about daddy's reputation.. Like seriously I would rebel right out of it..
But let it be known that this review is not yours, with that I mean you can buy it and maybe love it like I couldn't.
I have no idea what made me pick this up... I mean, it has an over-used cover, 'bad boy' in the title, and while the blurb isn't horrible, just the fact that it has 'bad boy' in the title makes me think of these types of blurbs: He's the biggest asshole in the world. He's, like, a huge asshole. He's just such a huge PRICK (get it???) and I can't stand him. And I'm, like, a super-good girl. We're basically opposites, can you believe it? Cuz I'm like really good, and he is such a BAD boy. And did I mention I HATE him??? So why then do I want him? BTW, have you noticed how they always have to ask themselves, "why do I want him?". Back to Carny though - I did not expect to love this as much as I did. I usually reserve my 5* for the books that really stand out to me and I have to say that, surprisingly, Carny is one of them. It might have been the fact that it was something new - he works for a carnival and he's not a billionaire (gasp! I know, he's not even a billionaire disguised as a carny!) Or maybe it's the writing, which while it wasn't perfect, it did make me believe in the characters, thinking they could be real, and making me understand them even when they did something wrong. Or it could be the beautiful relationship that they grew that I believed in 100%. Actually, it could also be that I'm still saddened by the cancellation of Carnivale. Agh, how I miss you. Whatever it was, I just loved this book. It was nothing like what I expected and I'm really glad I gave it a chance. Now on to an actual review... Steel is our hero, the carny who has been with the same carnival for 10 years going from town to town basically working hard and partying just as a hard. As you can tell from the blurb, he was a manwhore - but for me at least, he was a manwhore that I understood and believed, because of his carnival lifestyle. In one of the little towns he visits, he meets our heroine, Emma, a rich girl (virgin by the way - but again, a virginity I could get behind and understand) and plans to make her that weeks' conquest. They spend a day and night together getting to know each other and by the end of it, they're both smitten. But Steel is a carny, he has to leave, and she is a girl whose reputation is destroyed with every second he spends with him. From there, they both fight to be together (how sweet it was to see the hero doing everything possible to get back to her, even after a day together) and once they do get together, we get to see their relationship evolve and we actually spend a great deal of the book with them in a relationship, which I loved. By the end of it, I felt like I saw enough of their relationship that I didn't even need an epilogue to believe in them together (although there is one, no worries!). I also loved their characters, as imperfect as they were. I can see some being annoyed by the heroine but personally, I think that her reactions and thoughts, even wrong, made sense. It wasn't a case of TSTL or doormatitis, but just small-town thinking that needed to be overcome. Safety:
I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book by Simone that I've had the pleasure to read. It's also the first book I've ever read with a protagonist as unique as Steel. I have to admit that, while reading, there were moments when I really felt bad for the male protagonist. Him being a carny shaped not only his life, but also the opinion of other people about him. Knowing what he does for life made them jugde him without even giving him benefit of the doubt.
I liked this novel very much because it stars different characters. They're not what we're used to. Steel is a man that works in a carnival, lives his life traveling and has no permanent address. His life is full of adventures, but it's also very lonely. He has nothing but a few bucks in his pocket and a wish to live a life he never hoped to imagine. His life is hard. But his story is even more complicated than that. There's a past behind his choices and it makes me respect him even more.
I'm really happy to be able to read this novel. Personally, I've never been to a carnival (it's just not my thing) but I was always wondering how do these people manage to live a happy life traveling all the time and leaving everything behind. It takes a great deal of bravery to do that, not knowing where tomorrow will take you. So by reading this book, I've experienced a new adventure through the pages of Sowood's book, and I really did enjoy my ride!
Don't knock it til you try it!! If anyone would have told me months or years ago that I would read a story about carnies and absolutely love it, I would have thought they were crazy but I did and I do!! This book is crazy good!! The heat factor between the two MC's is off the charts. It's pretty much an insta-love that I go crazy over but with a few twist, turns and surprises. I can guarantee that you will never look at a carnival the same way!! Steel, who is a carny, has a body to die for and abs of steel, but ladies that is not how he got his name, you will have to read to find that out and it is definitely worth it. He has lived the life of a carny, going from town to town and women to women with no intention of ever settings roots down in any place, that is until he spots Emily. Emily, has grown up in a small town her whole life where if you don't know what you are up too, everybody else will. People make it their business to know your business and reputations are everything to everybody. Emily has always played by the rules so not to tarnish her dads reputation but what happens one night out with friends at a carnival will change everything!! Highly Recommended!! A Must Read if you like quick, fast and extremely sexy fun!
Guy from the wrong side of the tracks and good girl from a wealthy family - nothing new but such a good story. Loved Steel and all the carny folk. Liked that when they were apart he was not a manwhore - such a refreshing change! I found her parents a bit OTT and controlling - treated her like a child not a 20 year old woman which is what she was. HEA was great but still wanted more!
WOW!!! What a brilliant read from Simone. What starts as rebellion turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to Emily/Goldie. Now I want to go find my own Steel and join the carny circuit. Highly recommend this book. Steam factor 10 stars. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I got the book Pierce Me from Kindle unlimited. It has 2 books at the end of it and this is one of them. I read it just to get some extra pages read for the author but I wouldn't have chosen it myself.

He is in another town looking for another "ride" of his own, only Steel doesn't know it yet, she is the last "ride" he will want to take. He is setting up the carnival rides with his coworkers/family/friends. He loves what he does, he loves what he stands for, he is happy. Things are good, really good. He is even happy when little kids win and their smiles. Now wait, she just looked at him. Oh boy, he is going in for the take on her. Does she reciprocate? Or will he be moving on to the next one? He refuses to not "get with her" as he puts it.
Proving her parents do not own her and that she has every right to enjoy herself, Emily goes with her friends to the carnival. She loves riding the rides and spending time with her friends. She also loves the feeling of being out from under her parents thumbs/rules/double standards. She is from a well to do, repectable family. So why is it when she looks at the guy with the neck tattoo she forgets all about everything and gets lost in his eyes? Why is he making her feel this way inside. Well she wants to talk to him and once she does will she ever be the same?
Emily's out at the carnival, Steel has spotted her and her friends. Now we have the game in play. He walks up to them a few times, and even takes them on the rides, he always just seems to appear. He also only seems to appear interested in Emily. Her one friend is very rude and disgusted by Steel (and he is used to that after all he is a carny) the other friend seems to go with the flow of having a good time, but she is a little leery (that is ok with Steel too) but Emily....he is so drawn to her. He knows she is a local townie but he can't seem to help himself, he is drawn to her....his for tonight......or is she more?
Emily is an innocent girl who is treated differently by her parents then her brothers are. She is 20 years old and her parents treat her like a child, and dad is always telling her to "not ruin his reputation" WHAT??? What kind of jerk is more worried about his reputation than his own daughters well being? So she is out at the carnival with her friends, enjoying the rides and he walks over, doesn't care at all if they want him there, but she does want him there. He is intriguing and she feels alive around him. He goes on a couple of rides with her and she is hooked. He asks her to come back after the carnival closes. Proving to her parents that she is an adult and deserves to be treated with respect and as an adult, she does go back. When I mentioned she was innocent, I meant that she was completely and 100% innocent. Steel finds this out and instead of his usual nightly ritual, he is different. He cares about her and not ruining her....seriously?!?!? That is what he is thinking too.
Now the twists in the book begin, parents find out and lock her in her room, his boss finds out and sends Steel on his way, neither get a chance to meet up again. But, that doesn't stop them both from trying to find one another. They do, and it is all sorts of a (excuse the pun here) roller coaster ride from here on out. Oh man but what a fun filled, tear stained, "you did what?" kind of ride. What happens with them? Are they meant to be together? Are they torn apart again? Can this be a true love match for them? The ending also throws a bit of a curve ball too, in a great way as well....but without reading the book you are not going to be able to ride along and enjoy the entire thing....A definite must read.
First off I'll try keep it so there is no spoilers.
So little about the story-
It's basically a young girl from a wealthy background meets a guy who works at a carnival and it's straight up insta lust. They're like eachothers forbidden fruit, they shouldn't want it but they can't resist it either. Everybody disapproves of them but they don't care about that shit they just want eachother. Not everything is sweet sailing in this story but it's pretty low on unnecessary drama/angst and high on the cute hot factor.
Dat girl most certainly found her fancy for a man with some added jewellery and damn he knows how to navigate it ;)!!
It definitely has a few pleasurable surprises that you may not expect ;);)
Steel is every fathers living nightmare and every women's dirty fantasy. Not all is what seems with him though and as the saying goes... never judge a book by its cover. I absolutely loved him. He's your typical bad boy alpha with a twist. His job is what makes him so unique because I for one have never read a book based around a carnival or a carny worker. He's been working at the carnival for 10 years, lives and breathes the life. They are all he has and are basically his family. Unconventional as it is, it works for him. He had that line of sweet and downright naughty to a t. From the minute he laid eyes on Emily she was all he seen. He went through a lot of shit for her and stayed strong by her side like the loyal hunk he is. My only complaint is that he was super secretive about his past through the majority of the book.
Emma is our young heroine at 20 she's has been very much sheltered by no choice of her own. Coming from a wealthy family with a very overbearing father who's more concerned about they're family reputation than his daughters happyness. And a nosey ass town that knows your buisness before you do. The girl doesn't really have much of a chance. That is until the carnival comes to town. A night out with her friends turns into the best night of her life really meeting this tattooed hunk. Although fairly innocent she wasn't stuiped. She's as sweet as pie but when pushed she goes off like a little pocket rocket. I will say she was a little immature in the beginning but she had great character growth and while she wasn't the usual fiesty in your face heroine I love, she held her own when needed and was just down right sweet.
I really enjoyed them together. They're chemistry was great and I enjoyed the different take on there relationship, how it started and that sweet as pie epilogue.
I Would really love to read about more of the carney folk. What a great original story.
My only little complaints are ...
- I found that the timeline jumped in places that I would I like to read more of. - also I found even though the epilogue was super cute, for me it was very abrupt and I feel it could have been drawn out a few more pages making it seem less rushed and in turn tying up some loose ends with a better explanation instead of a quick wash over.
But again that's two minor things that weren't really and issue for me just more of a little annoyance.
Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It's a very fresh original story with great characters and happy ending. What more do you want?.
I kindly received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I seem to always enjoy the "wrong side of the tracks" theme in books. Simone definitely took a creative turn on that theme. I haven't read anything about carnivals before and that whole world, so I didn't have any prejudices nor expectations.
Good girl from a good family meets a carnival employee or "carnie" who is 7 years older than her. He only has one thing he wants from her and she doesn't mind reciprocating. Then feelings get involved and one thing leads to another until Emily runs away with said carnie. With disapproving parents and a suffocating town in her past, Emily and Kayden figure out their own meaning of life when you don't plan ahead and don't care what other people think.
I read "Hung" by Simone Sowood and although I definitely preferred that story over this one, I still found certain aspects of this novel more enticing. I found myself out of my element reading this book which found relating to the characters much easier.
I found the conflict only okay - I wasn't found pacing back and forth with anxiety. There wasn't tons of build up which made parts boring. There wasn't any huge fights or family wars. Everything was kind of basic.
I wish Simone spent a little more time on the ending. Kayden never thought he would be able to accomplish anything big in life. That he would never do the 9-5 to thing or the family life. I really feel like an entire chapter dedicated to him working at the dealership and being able to enjoy the pride of knowing he could provide would have been perfect. And the whole Razor thing was kind of random - it would have been a nice addition for Kayden to have his friend work at the dealership since he was his best friend or whatever. Just the cherry on top type of thing.
I need my HEA and that is always guaranteed with Simone. She is excellent with detailing the more intimate chapters as well, I make sure no one can see my red cheeks as I am reading those parts because they are definitely on the steamier side ... *Cough Cough* I need to talk to my husband about taking me on the Gravitron priavtely when the fair comes to town.

Steel has spent ten years with the carnival; every few days a different town and a new woman. For now, it's time to set up, get the rides in working condition and get ready for the crowds. The carnival is in town, so Emily and her friends decide to check it out. Her parents are out of town, so there shouldn't be a problem. That's where she meets Steel. Emily is a good girl from a well to do family. Emily's parents are old school strict, her father is overly protective and is well respected in their town. Emily is tired of being treated differently than her brothers, and decides to meet up with Steel after hours. All it takes is one night and Steel is hooked. Soon the carnival moves on, along with Steel, and Emily is left to deal with her family. They never forgot one another and they spend the next few months trying to locate each other. If they do, she's rich, he's a carny, will they be able to overcome the difference? Emily and Steel believe all they need is each other. Family and friends disagree. What happens when new love wears off? Real life? Steel has his doubts. He knows he'll never be able to care for Emily like her father or the rich boys from her town. They come from two different worlds and maybe he's right. I LOVED THIS BOOK ! I ENJOYED EVERY CHAPTER ! Loved the music references-especially Stones Wild Horses! AWESOME, ORIGINAL, LOVE STORY FILLED WITH FORBIDDEN LUST AND UNINHIBITED G- FORCE SEX ! A GREAT FEEL GOOD READ ! YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO ONE-CLICK THIS BOOK ! ! !
Well the first things I want to say is after reading the blurb of the book I thought the story was quite different from any other books I read.
Here a crany falls for a townie who is from a very orthodox town, where everyone is in everyone’s business.
Goddd!!! Emily’s father was such a tool always looking and maintaining his reputation. Their house was like a few centuries back where girls are dominated over the boys and where women have to answer about her whereabouts rather than a man.
Emily meets Steel, a carny, in a carnival held in her town and to get back to her father she spends time with Steel and that is the new gossip story the entire town.
His father lock her down in her room and Steel is sent off to another town for some work. If you ask me, it was so much filmy!
Both try to find each other, despite Emily’s situation in her home town. My god people were so damn nosy. I wanted to shout at them for her behalf and tell people to mind their own damn business!
But well, both Steel and Emily find each other and my god, after their parents find out about them getting back together, there was so much drama. Fhew. There were people following and finding them! God that was so much fun. and sort of crazy too… i mean who in this generation would do such illogical things?!
The entire book was so much entertaining and I love every bit of it!
Steel has been working at a carnival for a decade. He loves the life and has great friends at the carnival. He has a different woman at each town. When he is at new town, he sees Emily. He’s attracted to her and he wants her.
Emily is a good girl and has wealthy parents. Her parents have certain expectations of Emily and dating a carny is not one of them. Emily feels something for Steel and doesn’t care that he’s a carny. She likes him after spending some time with him at the carnival. Her parents are not happy when they hear that she spend time with a carny and forbid her to ever see him again, but Emily wants Steel. Steel also can’t forget Emily and hopes that she feels the same way.
I loved Emily and Steel. They may not have the same backgrounds, but they belong together. They want to be together and don’t care what job the other has. Steel works very hard, but he loves his life. He encourages Emily to follow her dreams and not let her parents decide everything. Emily is sweet, smart and caring.
The author wrote again an amazing book. I loved this book. I devoured this book in a few hours. I didn’t want to stop reading. I loved how the story progressed. I especially loved the setting. I haven’t read a book that happens at the carnival.
-- My honest review is based on an advanced reader copy of this book. --
Simone Sowood you fucking knocked this book outta the park!
I loved the Carnival aspect throughout the story and especially the relationship and family value that Steel place on it!
Seriously I loved this book so so much!!
Emily and Steel were like kismet...meant to meet, meant to try and tame the wildness between them!
From two different worlds, they collide with such a force! And the way
Steel pursued her the night they met was like something from a movie! Knowing what he wanted and stopping at nothing to go and get her!
Emily was innocent in so many ways but knew that her heart called to Steel!
There were ups and downs and times when the idea that these two would never get their Happy Ever After but honestly - there was just something so different about this book that called to ME, right from the start!
The storyline had something that I felt like I hadn't read in a while...there was love and steam and chemistry and just a connection between these two that jumped out at me from the pages!
Simone Sowood - you are now stuck with me woman!
I loved CARNY and would recommend this book to anyone who loves a standalone, HEA with a twist of Carnival fun that made this so different!
Carny for me was a step back in time. High school years when my parents let me go to the annual carnival with my friends. Although most of the carnies were not muscled bound or gorgeous like Steel. What was the same is the reputation of carnival workers in the eyes of the town. Frowned upon they are there to provide us with fun rides and excitement. Steel thought it was going to be business as usual for him. He made his own fun that is until he fell hard and fast for good girl Emily. Family intervened and they were pulled apart. Simone Sowood crafts a story filled with sexy and hot encounters, angst filled moments and a man determined to keep his girl. But how? You must read the book to put together the pieces that try and keep them apart.
I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I tried to give this a shot but it was not a good read. The H was a predator who picks up women in every town his carnival stops in. He instantly sets his sight on the h. The h is a rich girl who goes after the H because she wants to rebel against her strict father. There was nothing real btw the H and h. These characters were not interesting either. I just didn't care what happened.
It was nice to return to the carnival. I haven't read a carnival-themed book since the Traveling Series. Fun read. Even more carnival aspects would have been nice.
Steel joined the carnival 10 years ago when he was 17 and loves the life. He is charming, good looking, covered in muscles and tattoos, a typical bad boy, and enjoys having a different woman in his bed every week. Emily is 20 years old, from a rich family with an overbearing father who treats her 18-year-old brother as a man, but treats Emily like a child and keeps telling her to not embarrass him. In fact, you’d think the only thing he cares about is his reputation, which somehow rests on Emily.
When the carnival comes to the small town in North Carolina where Emily lives, she goes there with two girlfriends. Her parents are away on a vacation. When Steel sees her, he decides she is the one for this town and starts flirting with her. He is sure he can get her to come back later that night, she is sure she won’t. Until her parents call her at 11:00 p.m. to be sure she is home and not embarrassing them. That is all it takes to send her straight to Steel. But when he realizes she is a virgin, he treats her gently and just makes out with her.
These two are opposites, but the attraction is immediate and when Steel and Emily are prevented from seeing each other again, they both start pining for the other. I loved that once Steel meets Emily he is no longer interested in any other women, quite a difference from the man whore he has been.
Emily’s life is strained after the entire town seems to be gossiping about her and the carnie. She can’t get over Steel, spending hours on the Internet trying to find his carnival. Meanwhile, Steel can’t remember the name of the town she lives in and the carnival owner won’t tell him. While Emily’s friends and family can’t see her attraction to a man with a tattoo on his neck (and he’s a carnie), Steel’s friends worry about him being with a townie, someone who looks down on carnies. When he finally finds her their relationship is tested. He tries to live in her world, and then she convinces him that she wants to join the carnival.
I enjoyed the slow, steady pace of the book and Steel was amazing. This man was giving up everything he knew to be with the woman he loved, and Emily was pretty immature in the beginning although she grew into an independent young woman. Once the rose colored glasses were off, they both dug in to make a life together. And there was a very sweet ending.
I absolutely loved this story. It is the familiar trope of pulling away from the heavy hand of your parents. Their hand is heavy for many reasons, some out of care and some reasons are self-serving, their genesis from a small town mentality. This author transforms the mundane, even the cruder aspects of life into enchantment. A young woman's longing to break free becomes a love story that is transformative for both of the two main characters, Steel and Emily. Some of the magical transformation is in the fierce, hot, hawt, HOT, oh so sexy and surprisingly tender erotic love scenes between the two. Steel is the young man who ran away 10 years ago to join the carnival. Now he is the quintessential "Carny" with movie star looks and charm, tatted up to the badass scorpion on his neck. He takes his pick of eager prey among the swooning young women he finds in every town. He works hard and plays hard. However, when he meets Emily, she rocks his world of its axis. Steel's depth of character begins to unfold in his love for Emily. Emily chooses to follow her heart and hitches her star to the sexy "Carny" leaving her controlling often demeaning parents and small town pettiness behind. She grows up and learns more about herself and what is important in life. It is a "small town romance" but the ideas about love, courage, moving forward, coming home and the possibility of new life...and forgiveness are "big" weighty and universal themes... Such wonderful feelings and ideas presented in the grittiness of this love story. When you choose this story to read, you will appreciate the title of my review. "Gravity and the 'Steel' Dragon" is some delicious imagery that has lingered with me. Simply, unforgettable. One click for all the "feels" and ideas of a pure love found in the grit and vagrancies of life...oh, and then, well there this image that will never leave your mind.
My feelings were all over the place while reading this – Steel's carny friends had me rolling with laughter, Emily's parents had me seething with anger, and Emily's relationship with Steel had me sighing in happiness. The dirty talk was so intense, as is to be expected from such a tattooed bad boy as Steel, that even Emily's innocence didn't keep her away. The two had a great chemistry and I liked that they put each other first the entire book. There were plenty of places throughout where one of them expressed their happiness was fueled by the other being with them. This book had family drama like crazy that caused so many troubles, and it was quite a ride to see the couple overcome the obstacles that are thrown their way. Simone Sowood writes a bad boy so well – I almost wish I had one myself ;) One of my favorite things about this book though was that the bad boy was willing to change for the good girl, in a sense. Typically the good girl is corrupted into the bad boy lifestyle and then they live happily ever after (which may have also happened in this book – I won't completely spoil it). But in this book, the author wrote Steel's character in a way that he was happy to change some things up for his girl. I liked that. The author switched the POV between the two characters and that really helps the reader get deeper into the story.
Steel has worked at the carnival for the last 10 years, now he is 27 years old. He helps with the Ferris wheel but over sees all the rides. Emily, Courtney and Maddie come to the carnival because Emily father is the president of the Lion club that hired the carnival for a fun raiser and owns the biggest car dealership in North Carolina. When the girls get there they decide to start with the Ferris wheel, that's when Steel spots Emily and the girls become VIP's and moved up on the rides long line. Steel gets on the ride and sits with Emily, the are both attracted to each other. But Emily's father warmed her not to do anything that would hurt his repartition and at 20 years old Emily is ready to have some fun. This is a story about bad boy meets good girl and I loved it. So hard to put do, just want to keep reading till the end.. I think Simone Sowood has a winner here and would recommend this book as a must read. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy.
There is something to be said about a bad boy that has tatts all over, especially when it's on his neck. Steel, well this man, what is there to say. He's got the whole bad boy covered and with his panty melting smile, no girl can resist.
Going from town to town, working at the carnivals, he never thought he would someone that rocked his world to the core. Not until he met "Goldie". Being the town good girl, it's hard to not sneeze and not get back to the parentals. Being treated like a child, well you have to know she is going to rebel and what better way then to do it with Steel.
it takes just one night for them to know that the spark that was shared was real and something that happens once in a lifetime. peeps judge all the time, from the way you talk and especially the way you look. Steel may live a nomad;s life but when it comes down to his Goldie, he knows what's up. The family values this man has will melt your heart even more.
What more is there to say but to read this and you will think twice about talking to the hot guy with the sleeves of tatts.
Emily goes to the local carnival and gets singled out by Steel. She's the 20-year-old, good-girl daughter of a prominent local businessman. He's the tattooed carnival foreman who bangs a different girl in each town. Steel decides that pretty blonde Emily is the one he wants in this particular town, but it turns out there's an unexpected connection between them. But he's not the settling down kind, and she's under the thumb of her father who seems more concerned about his reputation than his daughter.
Emily and Steel are an odd pair but I rooted for them all along. Their devotion and the way they overcame obstacles together is inspiring. Looking for a sweet and ambitious heroine? A flawed alpha with unique body mods? Enough drama for interest but not too much angst? You'll find them in Carny.
An interesting look behind the scenes of a carnival. Steel has worked in the carnival for ten years, the only real family he has ever known. Emily is the frustrated daughter of a rich, business man in town. She is seeking a way to declare her independence from her family, to rebel against the small town gossips. When Steel flirts with her one night at the carnival, she is not only attracted to his rugged good looks but also to his carefree attitude. Two different worlds, two different lifestyles. How they bridge that gap is fascinating, enchanting and entertaining. Well written, plot flows smoothly and one is easily captivated. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Five stars.
I really enjoyed this book. The two main character made me laugh and cry and at some points I wanted to shout at them or knock their heads together. I was pulled into the book right from the beginning, when that happened I knew straight away that I was going to enjoy. You will get some surprises while reading this book, things I thought would happen didn't and I got some very pleasant surprises for things that did happen. It really is a book worth reading. Simone Sowood you have truly written a great book and between you and me I think Steel has become one of my favourite all time book boys.
I really enjoyed this book. It definitely romanticized the carnival life, but focused mainly on the unlikely relationship between Steel, who has been a carnie for the last 10 years and is a "player" and Emily, who comes from a very wealthy family. They have an instant connection and Steel has decided she's the "local girl" he wants in this town. He invites her to the party that night, but she initially declines. But after a frustrating call from her father, she decides to go to the party. What happens next is a true love story. It's somewhat far-fetched, but super sweet, sexy and romantic. You will not be disappointed.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book! I love Steele and Emily, it started off as rich girl slumming it to pay back father for hurting her feelings but once she was with him that all changed. Steele works for the carny and he picks up a new girl each town, that all changes when he meets Emily. This was one love story like no other that I've read. Took me a couple days to read it due lack of sleep lol, I didn't want to put it down. It was enthralling, beautiful, and memorable.
Such a great beginning... and an ordinary ending. I kept waiting for the plot to twist and shout, but unfortunately that never happened. Which is really sad, since up until the middle I was so sure it would be a 5-star book for me :(
I really liked Steel's personality. Emily is a different story - a girl that came to live in a trailer in a Burberry dress and never ever complained? A father, that never cared about his daughter and hated her husband suddenly ends up going to the bar with him the very next day? I mean, really? A cool story just somehow turned into a fairy tail..
