While the book provides a decent overview, it does not go into the depth necessary for anyone approaching the field to achieve understanding of any of the technologies. One of the primary dings against CEH is that it is geared more towards script kiddies than actual hackers and the content in this book reinforces that notion. You could pass this exam without much technical background and with a cursory understanding of the tools.
